if you have more than jaws installed, just delete the folder called jaws that is inside freedom. But, is very important that you 1. uninstalled jaws. 2. Delete the freedom folder in program files. 3. delete the jaws or freedom folder in the folder that you are saying. After this steps, do not restart your computer. Just install jaws 14 again. Please do not restart your computer until you reinstall jaws. - Original Message - From: Chela Robles cdrobles...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, October 13, 2013 11:12 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install Jaws Hello All, I think I'm finally getting somewhere, but you can kindly input whether or not I'm on the right track of thinking seeing as is I'm still waking up and have already gotten ready for church, so here is what I was able to do and here is what I'm thinking. Well this Eloquence dilemma is getting worse because I tried to see if it would load for another program, knowing it works well with NVDA and not JAWS, it also is not working with Kurzweil 1000, because I tried to switch engines and voices, and I think the same file or files required by JAWS would also make it work with other TTS programs like K1000, but strangely it works with NVDA but I just realize the reason why it works with NVDA is because it is a plugin. Is there an alternative way for me to get the necessary files for JAWS Eloquence to work? I've tried all you guys said and still no go. Sadly. I think it hates me for waiting for the DOR to upgrade JAWS. LOL! The only other option other than talking to Tech Support, is to wait until I get my upgrade from Rehab then, and then of course try it out on the computer they will be giving me and then I'll know that it is the HP machine and not me, since they'll be getting me a Dell Laptop with this same OS. -- Teachers have a sacred task: It is to give children the skills to understand the world and an expectation that the world is a trustworthy place; that it is full of light, and love, and music and that each student deserves--and will have--their own place in it and the chance to play their own song. Hi, It would seem reasonable to me that perhaps if a call to FS tech support is placed they could initiate a tandem session with your machine in an effort to help resolve this problem. Whether you or an agency meeting your needs purchased jfw for you someone is paying for the opportunity to access technical support so it seems reasonable to avail one's self of it in the interim instead of having to settle or work around that which is broken. The version of Eloquence with JAWS is locked into JAWS, and it as such has NO EFFECT on any other program. . Can you uninstall your Eloquence (for NVDA) and then try the JAWS install? Then afterwards, if you like, once JAWS has been successfully ins talled, try reinstalling the Eloquence you use with NVDA. I have the K1000 Eloquence and it doesn't affect JAWS use with Eloquence. - Original Message - From: Chela Robles cdrobles...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, October 14, 2013 12:48 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install Jaws Well this Eloquence dilemma is getting worse because I tried to see if it would load for another program, knowing it works well with NVDA and not JAWS, it also is not working with Kurzweil 1000, because I tried to switch engines and voices, and I think the same file or files required by JAWS would also make it work with other TTS programs like K1000, but strangely it works with NVDA but I just realize the reason why it works with NVDA is because it is a plugin. Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install JAWS.
Hello Kuenga, Are you sure that the version of Windows is 32-bit? The processor might be 32-bit but JAWS 32-bit is for Windows 32-bit. If you have 64-bit Windows then you need 64-bit JAWS. Also, for XP Professional you need JAWS Professional. If you have a JAWS standard license then it will only work on specific types of a Windows version. The following is from Freedom Scientific regarding licensing. Notice that a Standard license is limited to specific releases of Windows. Professional Licensing JAWS 64-bit Professional can be used with all 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows VistaR, and Windows 2008 Server. JAWS 32-bit Professional can be used with the following 32-bit operating systems: all 32-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows 2008 Server, and Windows 2003 Server. Standard Licensing JAWS 64-bit Standard can be used with 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows Vista Home Premium, and Windows Vista Home Basic. JAWS 32-bit Standard can be used with 32-bit versions of Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Home Basic, and Windows XP Home. Take care. If a professional license of jaws was needed for the operating system installed, jaws should still install but run in 40-minute demo mode. hth Doris At 11:59 AM 11/28/2010, you wrote: Hello Kuenga, Are you sure that the version of Windows is 32-bit? It wouldn't matter if licensed or not. When jaws first installs it is in demo mode until licensed. His problem is it won't install at all. Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install JAWS.
Yes, you are right. The licensing information I gave from Freedom Scientific really is an activation-related issue. However, it still might be that the processor is 32-bit and Windows is 64-bit, in which case the 32-bit JAWS won't work on the 64-bit operating system. It wasn't clear to me when the message sender said that the laptop was 32-bit whether the processor or operating system was being referred to. Take care. You might want to talk to him again about that op. Because you can't run a 64bit op on a 32bit cpu. At 03:30 PM 11/28/2010, you wrote: Yes, you are right. Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install JAWS.
Hello Kuenga, Tim and Doris are exactly right. I don't know why I wasn't thinking clearly when writing you. I guess I have too many projects going on at once or I didn't have enough coffee before writing. You can't run 64-bit Windows on a 32-bit processor. As far as software is concerned, there are some 32-bit programs that can run in a 64-bit Windows environment using WOW64. You might check the laptop to find out if the operating system is one used prior to XP, such as Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 95, etc. I think that the last version of JAWS to support versions of Windows before Windows XP was JAWS 7.1. Take care.
