Well this Eloquence dilemma is getting worse because I tried to see
if it would load for another program, knowing it works well with NVDA
and not JAWS, it also is not working with Kurzweil 1000, because I
tried to switch engines and voices, and I think the same file or
files required by JAWS would also make it work with other TTS
programs like K1000, but strangely it works with NVDA but I just
realize the reason why it works with NVDA is because it is a plugin.
Is there an alternative way for me to get the necessary files for
JAWS Eloquence to work? I've tried all you guys said and still no go. Sadly.
I think it hates me for waiting for the DOR to upgrade JAWS. LOL! The
only other option other than talking to Tech Support, is to wait
until I get my upgrade from Rehab then, and then of course try it out
on the computer they will be giving me and then I'll know that it is
the HP machine and not me, since they'll be getting me a Dell Laptop
 with this same OS.

Hi Chela,
Please take note, I changed the subject line to reflect the topic being
discussed, since the introduction has already been made.

In Windows 7, the Documents and Settings folder is hidden, that's why you
don't see it.
The folders and files you are looking for should be located in the following
locations:
C:\Users\your name\AppData\

My friend had given me this HP G-72 laptop and it must be the way HP
installed Windows 7 because I can't even find C:\documents and settings
not even the all users documents and settings and I now see why several
don't choose HP but go with either Dell or something else, I also heard
that HP doesn't come to you to service where Dell does, and I don't like
how HP partitioned Windows 7 at all...which is why I can't wait until
rehab buys me a Dell laptop so I can put JAWS on there and not have this
problem because it will be a fresh install of Windows 7 on a 64-bit
machine. If I had a Windows 7 disk to do the fresh install, I'd do it
myself with sighted assistance, unless this new talking installation of
Windows installation I just heard about from Top Tech Tidbits would
help, but in that case I'd still have to have the Windows 7 Home Premium
64-bit installer disks and that might as well be expensive...so, JAWS
has come to a stalemate with me, and I don't think the FS team will be
able to help me, but I guess it will be worth the call on Monday...and
if nothing changes then, I'm just going to have to use NVDA until I get
my computer Rehab will purchase for me.
Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Seems like I keep spinnin'
right round with this issue, the circle of life as it may be.

if you have more than jaws installed, just delete the folder called jaws
that is inside freedom. But, is very important that you 1. uninstalled
jaws. 2. Delete the freedom folder in program files. 3. delete the jaws or
freedom folder in the folder that you are saying. After this steps, do not
restart your computer. Just install jaws 14 again. Please do not restart
your computer until you reinstall jaws.

The problem is that they won't be able to do a JAWS Tandem because JAWS
closes once it displays the error.

Well this Eloquence dilemma is getting worse because I tried to see if
it would load for another program, knowing it works well with NVDA and
not JAWS, it also is not working with Kurzweil 1000, because I tried to
switch engines and voices, and I think the same file or files required
by JAWS would also make it work with other TTS programs like K1000, but
strangely it works with NVDA but I just realize the reason why it works
with NVDA is because it is a plugin.
Is there an alternative way for me to get the necessary files for JAWS
Eloquence to work? I've tried all you guys said and still no go. Sadly.
I think it hates me for waiting for the DOR to upgrade JAWS. LOL! The
only other option other than talking to Tech Support, is to wait until I
get my upgrade from Rehab then, and then of course try it out on the
computer they will be giving me and then I'll know that it is the HP
machine and not me, since they'll be getting me a Dell Laptop with this

Just my two cents no one asked for.

LOL! The
only other option other than talking to Tech Support, is to wait until I
get my upgrade from Rehab then, and then of course try it out on the
computer they will be giving me and then I'll know that it is the HP
machine and not me, since they'll be getting me a Dell Laptop with this
 same OS.

The version of Eloquence with JAWS is locked into JAWS, and it as such
has NO EFFECT on any other program. . Can you uninstall your Eloquence
(for NVDA) and then try the JAWS install? Then afterwards, if you like,
once JAWS has been successfully ins talled, try reinstalling the
Eloquence you use with NVDA. I have the K1000 Eloquence and it doesn't
affect JAWS use with Eloquence.

The JAWS software was of 32 bit and I check the laptop and was also of 32

What could be the reason for not being able to install?

Did you download the 64 bit version by accident perhaps? I know on the

Hello Kuenga,

Are you sure that the version of Windows is 32-bit? The processor might be
32-bit but JAWS 32-bit is for Windows 32-bit. If you have 64-bit Windows
then you need 64-bit JAWS. Also, for XP Professional you need JAWS
Professional. If you have a JAWS standard license then it will only work on
specific types of a Windows version. The following is from Freedom
Scientific regarding licensing. Notice that a Standard license is limited
to specific releases of Windows.

Professional Licensing
JAWS 64-bit Professional can be used with all 64-bit versions of Windows 7,
Windows VistaR, and Windows 2008 Server.
JAWS 32-bit Professional can be used with the following 32-bit operating
systems: all 32-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP
Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows 2008
Server, and Windows 2003 Server.

Standard Licensing
JAWS 64-bit Standard can be used with 64-bit versions of Windows 7 Home
Premium, Windows Vista Home Premium, and Windows Vista Home Basic.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Unable to install JAWS.

Hi all,

Yestterday, a friend of mine had brought a laptop of Sony VAIO asking
for installation of JAWS.

While trying to install, JAWS announced:

The Programme cannot be installed in this platform, contact
freedomscientific.

The JAWS software was of 32 bit and I check the laptop and was also of
32 Bit.

What could be the reason for not being able to install?

Hello Kuenga,

Tim and Doris are exactly right. I don't know why I wasn't thinking clearly
when writing you. I guess I have too many projects going on at once or I
didn't have enough coffee before writing. You can't run 64-bit Windows on a
32-bit processor. As far as software is concerned, there are some 32-bit
programs that can run in a 64-bit Windows environment using WOW64. You
might check the laptop to find out if the operating system is one used prior
to XP, such as Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 95, etc. I think that the
last version of JAWS to support versions of Windows before Windows XP was
JAWS 7.1.

Take care.
