Could be settings on your mail client. You may be able to reset some
preferences to let images through. I had some issues with some images
not appearing from some senders, but OK from others. I don't remember
what I did but eventually the problem was solved. I'm using Thunderbird
as my mail client. Disclaimer: I had no issues with images in messages
sent by KRnet members.

Also, I use Postimage for uploading files to the interweb these days,
much easier than Dropbox.

I got the picture also, and have never heard anyone complain of not
receiving a photo that was replaced by anything resembling "scrubbed".
I suspect you have some kind of overactive anti malware stuff running,
or your ISP is doing you the "favor" of saving you from potentially
dangerous JPG files (which are pretty rare, I'm sure).

While we're on the subject of pictures, I'd like to remind people that
there is a limit of 250kb for messages, which means you can't send a
photo over about 200kb. You can't just take a photo with a digital
camera or smart phone and send it to the link without thinking...they
are quote often several Mb (which far exceeds the limit), and the jerk
moderator isn't going to approve them, so learn how to resize (smaller)
and compress your images before you send them to 800 people, or get a
free "dropbox" account, upload the photos, and send the link to 800
people instead.

Thanks,

I'd like to re-announce the web site that I created in 2002 for Serge Vidal,
at
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/vidal/. Although he unveiled it back then

OK, Mark, you've got my apologies. I do remember having sent you a request

The first change will be the category: that KR2 of mine is no longer

Since this is Friday, I'm going to ask a non-KR question. I take pictures with
my 35mm Canon, scan them into the confuser, then send them by e-mail to my
family. I'm still waiting for the 5 megapixel cameras with a good zoom lens to
come down to about $300.

My question is, what resolution is adequate for net pictures? What is an
adequate size?

I've tried some lower resolutions with my HP scanner, but I still get files
that are several megabytes. I would like to send some adequate brag pictures
without spending 20 minutes sending them over my dial-up modem (one of the
pleasures of living in the great American desert called rural Kansas).

2008-10-12 Thread Kris Feldmann
The resolution should probably be between 640x480 and 800x600 pixels.
You should save the files in JPEG (.jpg) format. If your software
allows you to select the level of JPEG compression (or quality) start
with medium and see how it looks. You should end up with images then
which will look great on the 'net but use only about 150-250KB each
rather than several MB.

See http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/misc.html for a decent explanation of
what you need, and how to get it that way, as well as how to make a web
page. 640x480 is the short answer though. To get a clue as to the size of
a picture that you see on the web, right click on one and choose
"properties" from Explorer and it will tell you how big it is. Compression
is the key, and something like Cyberview will allow you to tell how much is
too much. If you are scanning, use 72 dpi and then you can still compress
it by at least 80% after that using Cyberview. Don't pay Cyberview. Don't
give them $39.95 for "version 5". I've been waiting for three years for the
upgrade. For now you can do the trial version for free, and give 'em $29.95
later, or somebody probably knows of a freebie on the web that'll do the
same job. Personally, I used Photoshop these days, and you should have
gotten some sort of similar software with your scanner AND your digital
camera, so start there first.

Those are fuel caps. I started with flush caps and a 1/4" vent
exiting the bottom of the wing. I didn't like the amount of fuel
leaking from the vents so I sealed them up and built a vented
fuel cap of my own design for each tank. They seem to work
fine after 6 hours of run time, 2 of which was in the air. Mark
Langford took some pictures of them and they may be posted
on my site at KRnet.

Good photos Frank but check out the one labeled C-140RF.
I think what you really have a picture of is a "straight tail"
C-150 converted to a taildragger. Check out the tail.

That one caught my eye because I'm partial to C-140's as
that is what I had my first ride in about 42 years ago !!
