Mechtilde wrote: I don't know anything about automatically inserted accelerations. I confirm we have an algorithm that assigns accelerators automatically when they are not specified. The only drawback is that this way they won't be stable if new menu items are introduced, meaning that adding a new menu item could cause old accelerators to change. This is a minor problem though, as in most cases one relies on the keyboard shortcuts (CTRL-O, CTRL-S and so on) which are still stable, and not on a sequence of accelerators. In general, I think we can avoid accelerators in translations and rely on the automatic assignment. Use the search, Luke! ;-) You mean that Luke from the Bible (Luke 6:31) or guy called Skywalker? ;-) Skywalker... ;-) And to conclude another AOO-driven day and after 2 packets of cigaretts plus litres of coffee I dare to say: We have three Lukes: that from Bible, Skywalker and ... Hi, sorry for replying late; That one was even too narrow for German, so "objects" was left out. ;-) It just reads: "Beim Erzeugen und Bewegen" Same trick - or like you once said - dirty hack - employ French and Russian in their UI, welcome aboard! I prepared dialog under Basic IDE, default system font Segoi UI. All looked good. *SORRY i just realized that I've made dumb mistake (Copy-Paste approach).* original is: "Podczas tworzenia lub przenoszenia obiektów" - 43 characters new version is *"Przy tworzeniu lub przenoszeniu obiektów" * - 40 characters It is definitely shorter and should work. Re: Pootle – Fix critical errors – Accelerators – Please, add Accelerator
Mechtilde (2020-02-16 17:25): Hello Aivaras, thanks for your translation work. I don't know anything about automatically inserted accelerations. I've remembered an example. This didn't contain an accelerator: Locations: optgdlg.src#OFA_TP_LANGUAGES.CB_ASIANSUPPORT.checkbox.text It was "Pokaż elementy interfac'u użytkownika dla języków wschodnioazjatyckich" Yet in GUI "P" was/is underlined. See e.g. bottom of this screen: https://bz.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=86828 Cheers, Nux.
Re: Pootle – Fix critical errors – Accelerators – Please, add Accelerator
Agreed. In fact, the question is whether we need accelerator keys at all in the text of a pre-build translation if they get inserted automatically at a later stage anyway. The text would be much cleaner without the tilde (breaking words, impeding spell-checking, and making search more difficult). Regards, Aivaras 2020-02-16 23:40, Maciej Jaros rašė: Aivaras Stepukonis (2020-02-16 17:17): The LT translation does not contain the accelerator mark-up (~). As a result, Pootle throws 3 250 errors. I was told years ago it's not a problem since accelerators are automatically inserted during the building of the program from its source code. That it is actually not a problem is further attested by the fact that the LT installation does contain all the accelerators. My question is this: should I do anything about the critical errors in Pootle or should I just ignore them? I think this is a bug in new Pootle. I mean that missing accelerators shouldn't be marked as critical errors. From what I've seen Polish translation doesn't contain accelerator in many cases yet GUI is showing an underline. So I would rather have the accelerator shown only as a warning in Pootle. IMHO in most cases adding accelerators is a waste of time (as I would have to review all translations to add a unique accel and accels in anything but main menu doesn't really make sense -- there is just no way you can remember them). Czesław Wolański (2020-02-16 21:54): Hi, in AOO Draw: ENGLISH version: Tools > Options > OpenOffice Draw > Grid section: "Snap position", label after 1st checkbox i.e. "When creating or moving objects" POLISH version: Narzędzia > Opcje > OpenOffice Draw > Siatka section: "Pozycja przyciągania", label after 1st checkbox: "Podczas tworzenia lub przenoszenia obiektów". Part of word "*obiektów"* is lost. I have tested few variations of original text and come up with one that is both shorter and similar in meaning. It would read: *"Przy przeciąganiu lub przenoszeniu obiektów"* I'd like someone with good command of Polish to express opinion on my proposal before I do any change at Pootle. It seems like both versions have the same number of characters... So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯... Exact length depends on the font used, but maybe figure out a shorter version. BTW. You can add comments in the Pootle. If you change something because it doesn't fit you should probably add a comment. Note that there is also an option to suggest a translation. I review such suggestions from time to time. So if you want someone to review your translations add them as a suggestion. Thanks and cheers / dzięki i pozdrowienia, Maciej Nux Jaros.

Re: Typo in AOO Writer (Polish)
Hello, I looked over the accelerator problems and fixed some of them. I fixed them if there wsa no accelerators in the en-US version. So it will be fixed in the next step. Re: Typo in AOO Writer (Polish)
Hi Czesław, Sorry, attachments are stripped on the mailing list... ;-) The ~ is the accelerator key. If there is one in the English version, you should have one in the Polish version, too. Otherwise just remove it. But I think Mechtilde has already corrected it. Mechtilde, thank you for your work, too! I'm on Windows. Matthias, when are you planning to do the next batch of builds for Windows? Hello Aivaras, thanks for your translation work. I don't know anything about automatically inserted accelerations. We can do a test build. Matthias on Windows and/or me on Linux. Then you can test it. and the you can see which letter should get the Acceleration. Each letter should be only once used as an accelerator in on part of a menu. Pootle – Fix critical errors – Accelerators – Please, add Accelerator
The LT translation does not contain the accelerator mark-up (~).
