Re: [LegacyUG] Upload Event Notes to Ancestry

2018-03-08 Thread Dr R J Burford

Thanks for all the responses. I have checked and the Notes do in fact go to
the "Unnamed Source" - so special thanks to Cathy.

My current problem is that some how between getting Legacy to export the Tree
and it getting into Ancestry many of the locations have been transported across
the world in the Lifestory but ok in the Facts! For example  Victoria
Dwellings, Clerkenwell Road, Middlesex landed up as Victoria Trinidad &
Tobago!!!

Investigating as to whether this is a Legacy or an ancestry problem - not had
the problem before

Thanks again

Robert

Robert,

Event Notes actually do get added in Ancestry unless there's been a
recent change - BUT they're added as an unnamed Source so they're
not at all obvious.

I generally just upload vital events for a skeleton tree on Ancestry but
have experimented with uploading more.

Re: [LegacyUG] Upload Event Notes to Ancestry

2018-03-07 Thread Michele/Support
Legacy also has a "description" field for events and that might is one reason
it doesn't translate correctly. Ancestry would need to look for the NOTE tag in
the gedcom and translate it to that Desc field.

I do see the "Notes" field now under the Tools icon. (thank you for that!) I
will have to play with that a bit.

Since Legacy uses the standard gedcom NOTE tag then Ancestry needs to be the
one to interpret that information correctly when it is uploaded.

Re: [LegacyUG] Upload Event Notes to Ancestry

2018-03-07 Thread Brian Kelly
I am not a member and do not have a tree on Ancestry but my first
question to you would be if there is a place in Ancestry.com events for
a note? Even if Legacy exports a note for an event if there is no place
in Ancestry.com trees where that can be saved then the note will not be
imported by Ancestry.

A second question would be what settings you are using when you create
the GEDCOM in Legacy for upload to Ancestry. Are Event Notes turned on?
