Bug statuses aren't final, if you feel like contesting status with a compelling
argument, you're welcome to. For example, big files can be uploaded to other
file sharing services.

On the other hand, having reports open for bugs that have no chance of being
reproduced serves little purpose, developers can't work on the issue because of
the lack of details. If for such a bug the reporter or someone else hopes they
would be able to provide additional details in the future, or need guidance,
the bug report should stay open, otherwise there's no point.

If you think it's a severe bug (or a valid bug), please don't give up on it,
and work with others on having it reproduced.
I'm closing this report as MOVED, as such issues belong on Redmine [1], but I
hope this reply provides guidance for the future.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103231] New: LibreOffice Won't Run in Wineskin. (May Not Run in Wine. )

2016-10-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103231

Bug ID: 103231
Summary: LibreOffice Won't Run in Wineskin. (May Not Run in
Wine.)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: erw...@alumni.beloit.edu

Description:
I tried installing LibreOffice 5.2.2 for Windows in Wineskin on MacOS Sierra,
to see if the cursorblinkrate=-1 setting in Wineskin would work around bugs
#35077, #94147, #100706, etc. in OS X/MacOS.

The installer runs.

The swriter.exe, quickstart.exe, and soffice.exe do not run after installation.
A new icon appears in the MacOS dock, and a blank white rectanngle appears in
some exes, but nothing further.

I haven't tested LibreOffice 5.2.2 for Windows in Wine, but suspect it may have
similar problems.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Wineskin Winery
2. Download the Windows installer for LibreOffice
3. Create a Wineskin for LibreOffice
4. Install the Windows version of LibreOffice in the Wineskin
5. Select a likely exe as the Windows Exe
6. Test Run each exe

Actual Results:
A new icon appears in the MacOS dock, and a blank white rectanngle appears in
some exes, but nothing further.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice should open.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: LibreOffice doesn't open, so I can't reset my profile
there.

Additional Info:
Since LibreOffice has Linux and MacOS versions, *most* users won't need Wine or
Wineskin versions.

Issues #2 and #3 are the same, and duplicates of bug 96624.

I'm not entirely sure about issue #1. It's true that the document is buggy on
open with v5.2.2.2 (looks fine when opened in v5.0.0.5), but if I run
hyphenation on it, it gets correctly hyphenated. Same with an empty document.

So, question is, which version was the test document created with, and can a
similarly buggy document be created with v5.2.2.2?

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated 2 days ago, if I create just a
textbox without typing anything, I can't even select the textbox.
If I put text in it, I can move the textbox.

Now if I put the textbox inside a rectangle, I can't even select the textbox
too.

In brief, I can reproduce this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80941] LibreOffice should be installable from a GUI

>
> If the user is not an advanced user, he should rely on the version provided
> by its distribution. If this version is too old, he should upgrade its

And this is one reason I had to stop using Linux. I used Ubuntu 11.04, in
Classic, and restoring and widening scrollbars. I couldn't go back to 10.10 lts
because it didn't support the kernel patch for the Alps touchpad on my
computer. I didn't go forward to 11.10 because of reports that it went further
in disabling scrollbars. I think Shuttleworth had commented that "everyone" can
use scrollwheels and gestures, so no one needs scrollbars any more. (Well, I am
not everyone, and I use special scrolling software now but would like wider
scrollbars too.)

It's probably better for different distros to work out how to make a common
installer for multiple distros.

Summary: Clicking on link to go to external document (e.g., to
play movie) during presentation does not work any
longer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: matthias.sche...@tufts.edu

In my current version of LibreOffice
Version: 5.1.6.1.0+
Build ID: 5.1.6.1-1.fc24

Clicking on an item that has the interaction "go to document" enabled works in
editing mode, but does not work any longer in presentation mode; instead, it
simply advances the slide

So, actually Google got this wrong, the 't' attribute indicates the cell's data
type, which is of the cell value ( element), not the formula string (that is
the element) but the formula result.

See ECMA-376
18.3.1.4 c (Cell)
18.18.11 ST_CellType (Cell Type)

Excel uses t="str" for a formula result string, that is not a formula string
... probably because t="s" could not be used because the result string is not a
shared string, and with t="inlineStr" the element could not be used for the
result but an element instead but formulas can't return rich strings ...

That's totally f*cked up.

An image is stored in a draw:image element, which is child of a draw:frame
element. The draw:image element is the content of the draw:frame element.
And a draw:frame element has a style of style family "graphic". Such styles
have a style:graphic-properties element. And this allows fo:margin, fo:border
and fo:padding, which correspond to the CSS box model.
So even if you disable this feature in the UI, LO needs to be able to render
ODF documents correctly, which uses padding in images.

ODF follows the CSS-box model very close, but LO does not implement it
correctly.

The color space I am using on MacBook Pro mid 2010 with discrete graphic card
was already at its default (it is named "LCD display") when crash started to
occur.

In my case problem did not arose when installed Sierra but when I upgraded
LibreOffice. After that there has be no way to fix it, even restoring old
versions from time machine.

I my case is the switching of the graphic card. Maybe Retina display relying on
Radeon rather than Nvidia cards behave different.

This seems to be related to this thread - OpenCL is getting disabled when it
should not be:

I am running on an iMac running OS-X El Capitan with an AMD Radeon R9 M390 and
LO 5.1.5 and LO 5.2.2 disable OpenCL on opening Trying to set OpenCL to true
does not stick as it gets disabled on the next launch. As a result, if I try
to render a large PDF file it takes about 35 seconds.

However, if I drop back to LO 4.4.7.2 OpenCL works fine, is not disabled, and
the same document on the same machine takes 0.44 second to render. This same
behavior is repeatable on a MacBook running MacOS Sierra and an NVIDIA GeForce
GT.

Great fun .. :-/
Google writes t="str" for formula content.
Excel writes t="str" for formula string results, which we consider during
import and set a string result at the formula cell, which of course is ignored
in SUM(range), hence that result is 0.

I need to make speed measurement. I can not do speed measurements now, it takes
time. I made measurements on the taskbar, and keyboard shortcuts, and this has
led to very poor performance.
Reasoning without measurement, is a waste of time.

Almost the same, sub-menus open without click.

If someone doesn't know she/he needs to learn, people able to work has another
quicker ways like [Ctrl+M]

> Your promotion styles, does not remove the direct formatting from the
> documents, which were made since 97 year in MSO.

I hope so.

Are you talking about removing the direct format word by word. I think it's
easy Menu/Edit/Select All [Ctrl+A]
and then
Menu/Format/Clear direct formating [Ctrl+M],
to get the whole document's body clear of direct formatting.

It's good to have it ready at top in the submenu I think yes.

If there is so much direct formatting in a file, I guess removing all is what
is needed, not remove some and keep some other? Isn't it that then one can
simply select large parts and clear at once?

Julian, I deinstalled Java 32 and 64 absolutely (I know, how to do it) and
reinstalled only Java 64, so that no doubt could be over the „right“ java
installation. After installing I controlled Tools\Options\Advanced\Java Options
and the JRE was „already installed“. – But the fault remained. (The LO
directory profile is at the right place, and there was no need to change.)

That all went under my VirtualBox. I can understand your tip to exclude all
possibilities of faults, but I’m very sure, that there will be no difference,
if I do the same under the real desktop.

I have made a CleanInstall last week, so I would like to hold on the „clean“
situation of my desktop. „A try on [my] real desktop“ would require a
deinstallation of LO 4.7.3.2 and Java 32 and then an installation of LO 5.2.2.2
and Java 64. Again: I’m sure, that this action would not change something.

I think we just have to work on being more understanding and polite. Regarding
other practices, they can be discussed with the QA team on IRC or the mailing

It would be great to improve Bugzilla user experience, but for that we would
need more coders to the QA team as everyone is too busy dealing with the
incoming user reports.

2016-10-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98481

And actually this is it: Google Sheets attributes formula cells with t="str",
which means "Cell containing a formula string.", which is correct but Excel
does not (at least not 2010). Removing those attributes from the
xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml stream makes LibreOffice load the document correctly.

As you have seen, if you install LO 64 bits you must have Java 64 bits.
But to be sure LO may find it, rename your LO directory profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and give a new try.
Indeed, renaming the LO directory profile forces LO to rescan all the env.
Give a try on your real desktop to be sure there no side effect with Oracle
box.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102915] Restore Clear Direct Formatting (an uno: ResetAttributes command) to the context menu

2016-10-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

> Decision was made in the design team on Oct/14 to bring back the
> functionality in the context menu but move it into the upcoming styles
> submenu. Reason to do so is that we have remove direct formatting in the

How many time will people spend to click the item from the submenu?
It is not that there are the item in the menu or not. There are a large number
of documents, which requires the removing of direct formatting, because they
were made by ... Why if someone does not know how to work in the Writer, people
who are able to work have to spend time?

Your promotion styles, does not remove the direct formatting from the
documents, which were made since 97 year in MSO.
The problem is that the movement of the cursor or the hand of two seconds,
poured to a quarter of an hour per a page. And when you want to remove direct
formatting and assign a style for multi-page document, this movement begins to
take hours.

The difference seems rather to be that formulas in E2:E4 and B5:D5 are shared,
whereas the formula in E8 is not. The .xlsx file loaded and re-saved in Excel
works fine in LinreOffice. Apparently Google Sheets does something Excel does
not, which LibreOffice is not prepared for.

So lets say the tabbed notebookbar wants to define that the properties deck of
the sidebar should be disabled when the notebookbar is enabled, we should have
the option to do that.

Try changing on this line 1170 "SQLUINTEGER" to "SQLUSMALLINT". If my guess is
right, it will solve the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103213] Database Wizard froze after changing from Forms to Tables [ Version: 5.2.2.2 (x64)] when attempting to open a linked Access MDB file

2016-10-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103213

Ok, Alex and Julian, first thank you for your comments

Second: I apologize for to „›forgot‹ to mention is that [my] ODB file links to
an Access mdb file (Buecher/mdb).“ The thing is: I did not come to the idea,
that Access could have to do something with it. In my operation system (Win 10
Pro 64), LO-Writer (4.3.7.2) has no problems to open the „Buecher.odb“. With
deinstalling LO-Writer 4.3.7.2 and installing version 5.2.2.2 (x64) the
problems started. This is my first bug-report in life, so I did not see any
relation to the mdb (Access).

Now I have deinstalled version 5.2.2.2 and reinstalled version 4.3.7.2. But in
my OracleBox I have installed another Win 10 („Enterprise Evaluation“, 64bit)
and installed here again the 5.2.2.2 (x64) version of LO.

The problems remain, also I created in C:\ a temp-folder (and below a
database-folder), where I copied the files like Julian said.

In my real desktop (Win 10 Pro 64, LO 4.7.3.2) I create a odb-file like this
(and there is no problem):

I take „Connect to an existing database“ and select in the Pulldownmenu
„Microsoft Access“ (not 2007). I go – for example – to „Buecher.mdb“, confirm
(„Finish“) and then I could save a new database.

In my OracleBox (Win 10 Enterprise 64, LO 5.2.2.2) this happens:

I take „Connect to an existing database“ and select in the Pulldownmenu
„Microsoft Access“ (not 2007). I go – for example – to „Buecher.mdb“, confirm
(„Finish“) and then I could save a new database, what I’m doing. But then the
database wizard opens and this error message arises:

„The connection to the data source "New Database" could not be established.

The connection could not be created. May be the necessary data provider is
not installed.“ (SQL Status: HY000)

After this, LO does not froze at least and I could exit LO. But if I mark
„Tables“ left then the first error description goes on (frozing).

Note: In my real desktop no MS-Access is installed. I have another OracleBox
with (good old) WinXP, where Access 2.0 (16bit, 1994) is installed. Here I
change my tables. In my real desktop I only look at the tables through LO Base.

Another note: I installed Java 64 too besides Java 32 (like in „bug 97395“ is
recommended) but that didn’t help.

My apologies for the major delay in responding. I'm new to the bug reporting
process and just realized I needed to respond to your question.

The significant difference is that the document becomes completely unresponsive
and I have to force quit.

This morning I had an added symptom of the first two paragraphs of text turning
to gibberish when I installed new fonts.

Of course that is fine too. Maybe it is interesting for Irem or someone else to

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103221] New: core/tools/source/fsys/urlobj.cxx:4450: unmaintainable code ?

2016-10-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103221

Bug ID: 103221
   Summary: core/tools/source/fsys/urlobj.cxx:4450: unmaintainable
code ?
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dcb...@hotmail.com

tools/source/fsys/urlobj.cxx:4450:1: error: V502 Perhaps the '?:' operator
works in a different way than it was expected. The '?:' operator has a lower
priority than the '&&' operator.

Source code is

eStyle = eStyle & FSYS_VOS
 && m_aHost.isPresent()
 && m_aHost.getLength() > 0 ?
 FSYS_VOS :
 hasDosVolume(eStyle)
 || ((eStyle & FSYS_DOS) != 0
&& m_aHost.isPresent()
&& m_aHost.getLength() > 0) ?
 FSYS_DOS :
 eStyle & FSYS_UNX
 && (!m_aHost.isPresent() || m_aHost.getLength() == 0) ?
 FSYS_UNX :
 FSysStyle(0);

What a mess ! Nested ternary operators are worth avoiding.

Suggest recode with a clear sequence of if-then-else statements.

Decision was made in the design team on Oct/14 to bring back the functionality
in the context menu but move it into the upcoming styles submenu. Reason to do
so is that we have remove direct formatting in the toolbar now and want to
promote styles in general.

Hi Irem

I am sorry for the fuzz on your excellent work. You did what the ticket asked
you to do, you even asked questions about implementation details, so I consider
your work as valuable !!

Sometimes when people see how a patch work, they realise the implementation
(again not your work) detail should have been different, this is unfortunate
but happens in real life...in this case we normally do not revert the patch,
but open a new ticket, that can extend/change/enhance the work you have done.

I hope you will continue have fun with LO, and please contact me, if I can do
anything to help.
