Re: [Linux-users] CLUG Bank Account
Hi folks I'm going to restore the circa 2003 install fest website for a laugh with a bit of new no-clug content to explain what it is. ( I kept a copy, dunno why. ;-) ) The grey-beards will remember that was on linuxnut.co.nz, we moved to clug.org.nz in 2004 I think? The whois suggests august '04. We had some stuff on linuxnut from late 2001. I originally bought the domain just as a vanity domain but put the club info on it when we were having regular meetings in town. I see Nick R. is still the owner of linuxnut.co.nz, but there's no site on it although it has been used as the domain for the CHCH robotics group list since 6/9/2006. Before that the robotics list was on rout.co.nz. I might get Nick to point the A record for that at the install fest site as well. Nick took over the registration for both domains from me at some point, probably early 2006? Would have been after I stopped doing bulk hosting and swore I would never do it again... Famous last words. Memories.. :-) Cheers, Chris H. I'd rather you didn't - that's the sort of thing that ends up misreported in the newspaper. Since there is no clug, anyone can do what they want. This is one of the times where no-clug is a bad thing. Formalised groups have wind-up proceedings as part of their charter. Clug doesn't. So David - you could do anything or nothing, completely without consultation or approval. I'd make a suggestion that we consider these groups as worthy possible recipients for some or all of the funds. * Rik, for his ongoing work in the OSS field. * UOC for their contribution of mailing list, this being the only thing that holds CLUG together * WLUG, for being an Incorporated Society and doing the FOS/OSS thing. Noone's used horse in a long time. I'm happy to turn it off. This is assuming that David can take money out of the bank without losing arms, legs or an entire firstborn. Re: [Linux-users] CLUG Bank Account
Don't know what we could usefully use $500 at the UC for the mailing list related things or anything related to CLUG promotion. The University will support local groups where it can because it is a social good. (we supported the NZ PyCon a little) Personally, since the money was raised in Canterbury, spending it here is good. Rik's ongoing work is what seems to be the main idea coming up and sounds like it would promote the aims of an unofficial CLUG (that only doesn't exist officially). :-) Pete Peter Glassenbury Computer Science & Software Engineering p...@cosc.canterbury.ac.nz University of Canterbury +64 3 3667001 ext 7762 On 16/05/16 15:17, Criggie wrote: Date: Mon, 16 May 2016 09:37:08 +1200 From: Derek SmithiesTo: Canterbury Linux Users Group I think the real question is:: What does CLUG do that makes a really good reason to keep going?
