RE: Problems with LyX Installation
Hello André, I installed LyX (LyX-2.0.1-1) new - at my Windows 7 64 bit system. Before this, I installed MiKTEX (basic-miktex-2.9.4250-x64). Now, I can't create an output file (like pdf or other). I get always an error message. Now anyone what the problem is, respectively what I can do that it works? The text of that error message might help ... Regards Matthias

Problems with LyX Installation
Hello friends! I installed LyX (LyX-2.0.1-1) new - at my Windows 7 64 bit system. Before this, I installed MiKTEX (basic-miktex-2.9.4250-x64). Now, I can't create an output file (like pdf or other). I get always an error message. I think, there are problems with general properties - but I don't know what. Now anyone what the problem is, respectively what I can do that it works? Thanks and regards, André

Re: Problems after Lyx-installation: lyx produces one white page
Good question. I would start by going to the MikTeX Options program, General tab, and click the Update Formats button. I've encountered problems where MikTeX suddenly became unable to generate fonts (after I'd done an update to it), and this seemed to do the trick. I tried, but it didn't work, then I deinstalled Lyx and MikTeX, cleaned the registry and installed it new - same error. It is even more strange, because it worked until a couple of days. I searched the mailing list for times but didn't find anything. I might open up a new thread with problems with mathptmx and times maybe somebody has encountered a similar problem... Regards Robert

I take it this small document displays with a blank first page when you load it into 1.4.3 and View-PDF (ps2pdf) on your system? I noticed that the .tex file you included was exported from LyX 1.3.x rather than 1.4.3-x. I checked the LaTeX export from 1.4.3-4 against yours, and other than a few insignificant differences in where line breaks occur, they matched pretty well. I take it this small document displays with a blank first page when you load it into 1.4.3 and View->PDF (ps2pdf) on your system? When you load the document into 1.4.3, it does a conversion from the 1.3.x LyX file format (\lyxformat 221) to the 1.4.x file format (\lyxformat 245). My first suspicion would be that something in the old documents is not converting quite correctly, but I could not reproduce it with your test document. What happens if you load one of the offending documents into LyX 1.4.3, export it to LaTeX from there (call the file test.tex), then run latex test.tex dvips -o test.ps test.dvi ps2pdf13 test.ps test.pdf and open test.pdf? Is the page still blank? /Paul
Re: Problems after Lyx-installation: lyx produces one white page
ok, we found it latex test.tex worked fine dvips -o test.ps test.dvi worked fine ps2pdf13 test.ps test.pdf produced error: "invalidfont in findfont" and many "nostringval" it is the \mathptmx which causes the error I can reproduce it if I set in a new document the font to "times": then I get only a blank page. What I don't understand: I removed Miktex and installed it new. So where to search? Regards Robert

I would start by going to the MikTeX Options program, General tab, and click the "Update Formats" button. I've encountered problems where MikTeX suddenly became unable to generate fonts (after I'd done an update to it), and this seemed to do the trick. /Paul
Problems after Lyx-installation: lyx produces one white page
Hello, I had lyx 143 running on win xp and everything went fine. Now I reinstalled lyx (with all miktex and so on) because I rearranged my harddrive. If I now want to create a pdf of an existing file using ps2pdf, I get only a blank page. dvi and pdflatex works. Unfortunately I need ps2pdf... Obviously there is something wrong, but I don't know which programm to uninstall an reinstall again. Thanks Robert

The converter is usually ps2pdf13, but I suppose it could be different in your setup. Assuming it is, there should be a ps2pdf13.bat file in the MikTeX bin directory (along with ps2pdfxx.bat and ps2pdfxx.exe). /Paul

The funny thing is, that it works with new files and the manual and only my old files make difficulties. (I allready tried to remove all my preamble entries to check whether there was some package which caused the problem, it did't help) A couple of days before I tried to install some true-type fonts, maybe something went wrong there. But with the complete new lyx an Tex installation I thought there should be no left overs.

Problems with lyx installation on Debian woody
Hello, I've just installed the latest debian, also named as woody, on my powerbook lombard and i have some troubles with lyx installation. I launch lyx and a few seconds later, it crashes with this error : SIGSEGV signal caught ... I have checked the version of libc, latex and lyx (1.1.6fix4-2) and it seems that everything is ok. Dos anyone have an idea ? Thank you in advance. Regards. Sebastien

Re: Problems with lyx installation on Debian woody
I'm making a debian package for the lyx-1.2.1, when it's done, you can build the package on your powerbook if you want (I use macosx on my mac, and my debian box is x86). sebastien hugues a écrit: Hello, I've just installed the latest debian, also named as woody, on my powerbook lombard and i have some troubles with lyx installation.
