Locate the movie you want. Click on the link. It will bring you to

or whatever the phrase is. Do so. If you are using a free account, it may
take quite a while, a half hour or possibly an hour. It should start playing
as soon as it is fully downloaded, sometimes before it is finished.
I find that it does not automatically get added to my iTunes library. If you
want this, you can select it, copy it, then drag and drop it into the
library of your choice. (Because it is an mp3, it will not go into movies.)
You can use command i (I think I am remembering that correctly; it is so
automatic for me now that I am not sure) to change the information, as it
will usually show up as untitled otherwise.)

Yep, I downloaded the whole shooting match- about 19 GB worth. It took a few
hours but went quite smoothly. I haven't looked at them yet in GB, just in

little patient thought and trial and error, one can crack that nut too.

Mainstage is quite well labeled etcetera but I have no need for it (apart
from the Jam Packs) so have never actually tried to do anything with it.

From memory, I went to the MainStage menu in the menu bar, chose something
along the lines of download additional content, and then I was able to
choose which Jam Packs I wanted to download. These Jam Packs are pretty huge
(as in several GB each), so it's probably a good idea to just download them
one at a time. I know some people have had crashes when trying to download
everything at once.

The process of downloading the Jam Packs was perfectly accessible for me and
all the downloaded content automatically showed up in GarageBand without me
having to do anything.

Glad this was of help to you. I hope the download process is smooth and you
start making some funky new tunes with all that fantastic additional
content.

how to access the add button in Itunes 11.1 for adding Garage band loops

2012-12-18 Thread Scott Berry

Hey there everyone,

I just spoke to a Marcus Jonathan at apple Tech Support. I was trying
to import audio files which are loops in to Garage Band on an Ipad 2. I
have some specific instructions from Marcus that worked. Here they are:

1. Open Itunes.

2. As a blind user ensure that if working in Windows that your side bar
is on.

3. Go to devices where it says your ipad name and status of the battery
charge.

4. Tab till you come to the Apps radio button and check it.

5. Then tab over till you hear File Sharing.

6. Then you'll tab over one more time and use Shift Page Down but be
careful because your looking for a tree view that shows Garage Band the
word in it.

7. Now if you tab over from the tree view that shows Garage Band you
will see the Add button which imports your loops for Garage band. You
can use a Control Plus A to select all the loops you want to import and
they will import at one time. Be mindful to do one folder at a time though

8. In the Windows version it doesn't actually keep track or tell you
really how many files have been imported so I suggest waiting a bit
before moving on.

9. Once all the loops have been added then you just need to tab over to
the Sync button to sync the IPad and you should be set.

It took us quite a while to figure this out so I hope this helps anyone
struggling with the same problem. Thanks to Marcus and Apple once again
for their great support.

My procedure for recording tapes with garageband into itunes

2012-12-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Here's a quick overview of how I got my tapes into iTunes. I should say it is
an on-going process as we speak.

I am no expert about setting levels etc so I will not go into details. I have a
tape recorder with line out and I connected it in mic port of my mac mini mid
2010. My husband checked levels to not go into red and adjusted recording
level. In fact here I am a bit confused about finding the best way of doing
this between recording level and master track volume , etc. Any good pointers
about setting this optimally will be appreciated.

1. I open project and select real instrument track.
2.I changed lcd display to time rather than seconds.
3. I used head-phones with monitor on option in track info group so I could
hear what I am doing. If you know your tape you could just put monitor off and
leave it going and be sure you are there to stop.
4. If it is a music track you could listen as it is recording and stop and
re-start recording between tracks. This will create regions on the track.
5. The challenge is how to import this to iTunes so each region is a track.
5.1 In arrange layout area, interact with time line group and finally with
instrument track scroll area and select the region you want to import as a
track.
5.2 Note start and end time. I always work with the first one so start time is
0:0:0.
5.3 Press c to turn on cycle region.
5.4 In timeline group interact with multiple indicators ruler timeline (it is
the first item).
5.5 Here the last item should be a cycle layout item or something of the sort.
YOu have to resize it by pressing VO shift command accent and make sure start
and end match those of your region for the track. No need to be super precise
with milliseconds since we are talking about blank space between songs.
5.6 Press escape when done resizing.
6. Finally with the desired region selected go to share menu and import song
to iTunes. It will only bring in the cycled region.
7. (Optional) Personally I find I like to delete the region from the project
once it is safely in iTunes to avoid confusion. SO I select the region and
press control delete this moves the other region back to fill space. So for ex
region 2 will now be moved to beginning of song.
8. repeat steps 5.x for subsequent regions.
I know, not very easy I guess that's where Amadeus might make things easier. If
anyone knows how to auto split track detecting silence in garageband it would
be cool.
Hope this helps someone.

Best,

Ioana

Hi,

If you interact with region in layout area first thing is a button to rename.

Re: Switching tabs in Safari

2012-12-18 Thread Alex Hall
It sounds like you are pressing command, not control. Command is immediately
adjacent to the spacebar on any Apple keyboard, control is on the left side,
second in (past function). On a Windows-style keyboard control is on both the
outer left and outer right, below each shift key, while command is second in
from the left and (normally) third in from the right.

Wireless mini bluetooth keyboard with a difference.

2012-12-18 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello.

I for sometime have been looking for a mini bluetooth wireless keyboard for my
I phone. However, all the small keyboards that I have bought and have been
dissatisfied with, have a flaw. The command and option keys do not work like
the Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard that I have. I need a small keyboard so
that I can put it in my bag as I'm out all day at work or travelling about as I
want to copy and paste on the move. Does anyone know a good keyboard which
will work like the Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard please? I can't take my
Apple keyboard with me due to it being rather big for my bagg. I do take my
braille display with me some times but don't want to use it all the time.

Hope some one can help and if so, please put in the link for the blue tooth
keyboard please. I mainly buy on Amazon.

Perhaps you can write to me off list so as not to clutter any mailboxes.

Thanks in advance.

Kawal.

Why would it clutter mailboxes? Others might want to know this also.

I believe you're in the UK. No luck on finding what you want on Amazon, but
there's a keyboard that should work sold on comproom.co.uk. I'm in the US
and use this same model. It has arrows, control and alt or option keys and a
number row.

Look for Rii Mini Bluetooth Keyboard With Backlight on this page.

The description kind of sucks on that page, so look here for a better one.

Subject: Wireless mini bluetooth keyboard with a difference.

Hello.

I for sometime have been looking for a mini bluetooth wireless keyboard
for my I phone. However, all the small keyboards that I have bought
and have been dissatisfied with, have a flaw. The command and option
keys do not work like the Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard that I
have. I need a small keyboard so that I can put it in my bag as I'm
out all day at work or travelling about as I want to copy and paste on
the move. Does anyone know a good keyboard which will work like the
Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard please? I can't take my Apple
keyboard with me due to it being rather big for my bagg. I do take my
braille display with me some times but don't want to use it all the
time.

Hope some one can help and if so, please put in the link for the blue
tooth keyboard please. I mainly buy on Amazon.

Perhaps you can write to me off list so as not to clutter any
mailboxes.

Thanks in advance.

Kawal.

Re: My procedure for recording tapes with garageband into itunes

2012-12-18 Thread Phil Halton
Thanks Ioana, That all made good sense, but I was surprised by the use of the
cycle region. Is that necessary? You say that only the cycle region will be
shared into iTunes? That's interesting.

Subject: My procedure for recording tapes with garageband into itunes

  Hi,

Here's a quick overview of how I got my tapes into iTunes. I should say it is
an on-going process as we speak.

I am no expert about setting levels etc so I will not go into details. I have
a tape recorder with line out and I connected it in mic port of my mac mini mid

I always work with the first one so start time
is 0:0:0.
5.3 Press c to turn on cycle region.
5.4 In timeline group interact with multiple indicators ruler timeline (it is
the first item).
5.5 Here the last item should be a cycle layout item or something of the
sort. YOu have to resize it by pressing VO shift command accent and make sure
start and end match those of your region for the track. No need to be super
precise with milliseconds since we are talking about blank space between songs.
If anyone knows how to auto split track detecting silence in garageband it
would be cool.
  Hope this helps someone.

  Best,

  Ioana

GarageBand expansion packs

 Hi all,
Tried to download the MainStage app from the Mac app store a few months ago.
Back then, the app was totally inaccessible with VoiceOver. Has this changed

instead of buying separate jam packs for GarageBand. Oh well, still happy with
the packs I have.

Thanks for any info regarding this.

Hi
In my opinion, the iPhone is easier than the Mac for skype. The mac involves a

It's not difficult on the Mac, don't get me wrong. I just think skype on the

Good luck.

Hi,

in general, I believe most, if not all apps are easier on the iPhone. This is
just do to the scale down nature of the apps. I don't think the skype app for
the Mac is hard to use mind you, its just more to learn as far as navigating to
get where you want to go. If just wanting to quickly make a skype call,
definitely the iPhone app. But, the more complex the task, I lean towards the

Re: Wireless mini Bluetooth keyboard with a difference.

2012-12-18 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
When I mean the option and command keys not working, if you go into VO's
practice area, and press the keys to find out their functions, you can press
the command and options and both say these things. However, when using Voice
over properly in messages and notes and other applications, you can't get
command or option to work let alone they will not speak. So if you did try and
copy text with shift down arrow or what ever it is to select text, if you did
try and press command C, V or X to copy paste or cut, then that will not happen
as the command key will not work.

I hope this makes sense, as it's the same for the option keys so you can't do
traditional vo commands unless you have the proper Apple Wireless Bluetooth
keyboard. The Apple keyboard is excellent but it will not fit in a hand bag.

Re: Wireless mini Bluetooth keyboard with a difference.

2012-12-18 Thread Cheryl Homiak
Well, it does seem strange that command and option wouldn't work normally. It
can't be a voiceover-combination problem per se since command has nothing to do
with vo combinations. Maybe it has something to do with whether a keyboard can
accept two-key combinations but even for Windows a keyboard has to do that.
Very strange! I can tell you for sure that my IOGear multi-link bluetooth
keyboard functions properly but I don't know if this is available in the UK. I
bought it on Amazon but I am in the US. What I like about the multilink is that
I can pair it with six different devices and easily switch between devices on
it.

Re: GarageBand expansion packs

2012-12-18 Thread Phil Halton
Jessica,

My initial opinion of the MainStage app was the same - totally inaccessible.
When I opened the app, I just got a completely inaccessible screen, and VO
wouldn't say a thing, I couldn't even close the window easily.

Then a sighted friend read the screen and told me that it was a download
message saying that MainStage was downloading essential content, and that it
might take up to a few hours.

So, I waited, and in a few hours, it had loaded up the initial 2 or 3 gigabytes
of sounds and the app opened up.

Again, an inaccessible screen. This was a splash screen showing how to connect
an input device. So, I connected an input device (a midi keyboard) and main
stage opened up and was fairly accessible.

I was then able to download the remaining content including all the GarageBand
JamPacks (an additional 15 GB).

So, MainStage is in fact fairly accessible, it's just that initial download
screen and the input device connection splash screen that's a VO deadzone. And,
once you plug in a keyboard or guitar, (That may not even be necessary), the
app is VO accessible.

I haven't messed around in MainStage since its initial opening, but at some
point I'll read the help files and check it out.

All the downloaded materials (jampacks) are now available to GB and I only
had to pay $30 for them - a far cry from the prices elsewhere.

Hi all,
Tried to download the MainStage app from the Mac app store a few months ago.
Back then, the app was totally inaccessible with VoiceOver. Has this changed
in the past couple months? If it has, then I could have saved a bit of money,
instead of buying separate jam packs for GarageBand. Oh well, still happy with
the packs I have.

Thanks for any info regarding this.

On the Bluetooth Basics keyboard the command and option keys operate just as
they do on the Mac. Also on the Apple Bluetooth keyboard and the Macally
Bluetooth keyboards.
Those are the ones I am most familiar with. On the Apple one however the keys
to the right of the spacebar are slightly different whereas the Basics
Bluetooth keyboard has the same configuration both to the right and left of the
spacebar.

Well, it does seem strange that command and option wouldn't work normally.
It can't be a voiceover-combination problem per se since command has nothing
to do with vo combinations. Maybe it has something to do with whether a
keyboard can accept two-key combinations but even for Windows a keyboard has
to do that. Very strange! I can tell you for sure that my IOGear multi-link
bluetooth keyboard functions properly but I don't know if this is available
in the UK. I bought it on Amazon but I am in the US. What I like about the
multilink is that I can pair it with six different devices and easily switch
 between devices on it.

When I mean the option and command keys not working, if you go into VO's
practice area, and press the keys to find out their functions, you can
press the command and options and both say these things. However, when
using Voice over properly in messages and notes and other applications, you
can't get command or option to work let alone they will not speak. So if
you did try and copy text with shift down arrow or what ever it is to
select text, if you did try and press command C, V or X to copy paste or
cut, then that will not happen as the command key will not work.

I hope this makes sense, as it's the same for the option keys so you can't
do traditional vo commands unless you have the proper Apple Wireless
Bluetooth keyboard. The Apple keyboard is excellent but it will not fit in
 a hand bag.

Can you explain specifically what you mean by the option and command keys

 still command?

I believe you're in the UK. No luck on finding what you want on Amazon,
but there's a keyboard that should work sold on comproom.co.uk. I'm in
the US and use this same model. It has arrows, control and alt or option
 keys and a number row.

However, all the small keyboards that I have bought and
have been dissatisfied with, have a flaw. The command and option keys
do not work like the Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard that I have. I
need a small keyboard so that I can put it in my bag as I'm out all day
at work or travelling about as I want to copy and paste on the move.
Does anyone know a good keyboard which will work like the Apple Wireless
Bluetooth keyboard please? I can't take my Apple keyboard with me due
to it being rather big for my bagg. I do take my braille display with
me some times but don't want to use it all the time.

Hope some one can help and if so, please put in the link for the blue
tooth keyboard please. I mainly buy on Amazon.

Perhaps you can write to me off list so as not to clutter any mailboxes.

 Thanks in advance.

 Kawal.

Hard Drive Space Question

2012-12-18 Thread Emilio Hernandez
Hello everyone,

I recently back-up my hard drive the other day.
Today I got a message notifying me that my hard disk space was full.
I checked and sure enough I was already reaching my 1TB limit.
I checked my home directory and everything is in order.
I had this problem once before after performing a back-up, which caused me to
completely fresh install Mountain Lion.
What help can anyone give concerning this issue. I am losing roughly 400GB.
This is after completing a back-up using Super Duper.

Thank you all for your help.

Re: Time machine restore function and voiceover

2012-12-18 Thread William Windels
Hello,
Yes, you can restore a file, folder or the whole system with time-machine.

For a file/folder:
Go into find and Selected Dr., Rao Time Machine backup is made.
There you will see folders and each has the name of the dates when the backup
is made.
Go in to that folder and select the specific file or folder you need.
Defined it will automatically show all files and folders that were available
before and on this date
You can simply copy what you went from there.

To do a system restore from Time Machine, you have to go in that recovery
partition.
This you can do Whit Holding command+r while booting your system.
Then you can put voiceover on with command f5 and select the option to restore
from Time Machine

Hope this helps,
kind regares,
William Windels

 Dear Listers,

Is the restore function in time machine accessible with Voiceover? Has anyone
on the list had successfully restored a file, folder, or the entire backup
 using voiceover?
