Re: keyboard commands on a Mac

2020-10-04 Thread Brad Snyder
I’d do the Catalina update and put off the Big Sur update until it has been out
for a while. That way you avoid any unforeseen issues, but it’s your Mac and
your choice, so suit yourself.

I would suggest waiting for the release, then reading comments by people who
upgrade before you do.

Also, AppleVis usually publishes a summary of new features and changes after
each major release, together with notes on any remaining bugs relevant to
VoiceOver users.

Is the next one above Catalina out yet? I'm probably going to upgrade to it but
I want to find out how certain things are working in it like Apple Mail before
I do it.

Hi Lorie,

You have 2 options that I can think of:

Option 1:

While holding down VO + CMD, press the Left-arrow key, which will change rotor
options until you get to either characters or words. Then while continuing to
hold down the VO + CMD keys, use the up or down arrows to navigate by the
selected option.

Option 2:

Assuming you are using a MacBook Pro or Air, turn on the trackPad commander
using VO plus a clockwise 2-finger rotor action on the trackpad. Then use the
rotor to select either characters or words, then use a one finger flick either
up or down to navigate by the selected option.

Re: keyboard commands on a Mac

2020-09-26 Thread Brad Snyder

HTH.

Re: Keyboard Commands for Zoom on my Mac

2020-08-20 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi I’ve pasted them below
Computing | Digital Trends - Friday, April 3, 2020 at 5:51 PM

Best Zoom keyboard shortcuts to make you a video conferencing expert
Jumping into a Zoom meeting
 is a great way to
attend a meeting or webinar remotely, or even connect with distant friends and
family across the globe. The best part of Zoom is that it’s free for basic
meetings holding up to 100 people. If you want to learn how to become a Zoom
master , we have
assembled a list of Zoom keyboard shortcuts that you can use to manage your
meeting, control your audio-video settings, and communicate with others, all
with a simple keystroke.

View keyboard shortcuts in Zoom
While we have assembled all of Zoom’s keyboard shortcuts for Mac, PC, Linux,
and iOS below, you can also access a full list of shortcuts within the Zoom
desktop client itself. If you are running Zoom on your desktop computer, log in
to Zoom, then click on your profile photo in the upper-right corner, select
Settings from the drop-down list, and click Keyboard Shortcuts.

Zoom keyboard shortcuts on Mac

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-02-01 Thread E.T.
Tab works. What does not seem to work are these shortcuts. Ctrl f7
to change the way Tab behaves and Ctrl f1 to enable or disable full
keyboard access.

And VO shift s to interact with the scroll bars that someone
suggested doesn't work either.

These are not deal breakers but if these shortcuts are enabled in
Keyboard prefs. why are they not working? Am still poking around
preferences to see what is going on.

Hello E.T.,

The full keyboard access setting can also be changed in system
preferences. Select the keyboard button, choose the shortcuts tab, then
use VO+LEFT and VO+RIGHT to navigate through the window and you’ll
eventually find the full keyboard access setting. As well, you might
want to set how the TAB KEY moves through web pages in Safari. That
setting can be adjusted in Safari’s preferences under the advanced button.

As for your query about paging up and paging down, this has been a
concern for me, too, since I started using OS X. I’m not sure what the
best solution is either. As Alex mentioned, holding down an ARROW KEY
will at least move you through a list or text field at a pretty good clip.

Its been a while since I played with full keyboard access in

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-01-31 Thread E.T.

Alex,
I hate using the arrow keys like that but I have and when I have
done so, always wondered why there was no way to page up and down.

Tab works. I was looking at any changes in El Capitan and was trying
things out and working to learn new keystrokes. So many of them.

Maybe I will send an email to Apple about page up and down.

Can you explain more the problem with full access? Is tab not tabbing, or is it

To my knowledge, full keyboard access hasn't moved. But I tend to leave that
set and never touch it, so I may have missed it. If ctrl-f7 isn't working, are
you sure you don't need to press the function key with the keystroke?

If I can just get a handle on the OS X / Voiceover way of doing things, I

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-01-31 Thread Jonathan Cohn
There are VO commands for moving to the top of the visible screen, I can’t
remember what happens when you hit them twice. These are now vo+shift+PageUp
and VO+SHift+PageDown. On conpact keyboards, PageUp and PageDown are done with
FN and Left or right arrow keys.

Also, VO+shift+S will allow you to control the scroll bar.

Best Wishes,

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-01-31 Thread Grant
Hello E.T.,

The full keyboard access setting can also be changed in system preferences.
Select the keyboard button, choose the shortcuts tab, then use VO+LEFT and
VO+RIGHT to navigate through the window and you’ll eventually find the full
keyboard access setting. As well, you might want to set how the TAB KEY moves
through web pages in Safari. That setting can be adjusted in Safari’s
preferences under the advanced button.

As for your query about paging up and paging down, this has been a concern for
me, too, since I started using OS X. I’m not sure what the best solution is
either. As Alex mentioned, holding down an ARROW KEY will at least move you
through a list or text field at a pretty good clip.

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-01-31 Thread Alex Hall
I can't find a way to move by pages, or 10 results at a time, or anything like
that For huge lists, I'll usually just hold down the arrow key for a second,
and that moves quite a ways.

Can you explain more the problem with full access? Is tab not tabbing, or is it
something different?

Re: Keyboard Commands

2016-01-30 Thread E.T.

Alex,
The arrow keys do their thing, as do th4 Option up and down arrows.

In Windows you can page up or down a long list of items. I may not
know what I am looking for or may just want to skip around these long
lists. If the Mac's Page Up and Page Down buttons don't work this way,
what are they for?

Its been a while since I played with full keyboard access in
Yosemite but I remember that I could use the Ctrl f7 combination to
toggle it on and off. That shortcut is still in El Cap and is enabled,
just does not seem to work.

though.

Re: Keyboard commands in Mavericks

2014-01-22 Thread David Taylor
They are as far as I can tell, if you can find any that aren't, you might want
to check and report to Apple Accessibility. For example, the one that changed,
toggle multiple selection, has been updated, and the new perform action,
vo-command-space is listed correctly.

Cheers
Dave

Hi David and others. I think what Richard was asking for is keyboard
shortcuts for Mavericks in general, not just Voiceover. Richard, if I'm

Okay. The one I have is from W3schools, and has both Windows and Mac. I
don't have a link though, just a printed copy.

yeah but that only gives you voiceover commands. There are so many other
standard apple keyboard commands.
I found these the other day. And there may be more.

Re: keyboard commands for iOS devices using bluetooth?

2012-08-20 Thread Rachel Feinberg
Try vo space to double tap. Or, with quick navigation on, toggled by the left
and right arrow being pressed together, you can press up/down arrow together.
The vo keys are the control and option keys, which are the 2nd and 3rd keys on
the bottom left row. The keys in order from left to right are as follows, using
an apple wireless keyboard:
function, control, option, command, space, another command key, and the option
key. Then the normal arrows.

Re: keyboard commands for iOS devices using bluetooth?

2012-08-20 Thread Damashe Thomas

Hi,
Here are a couple of sites you may want to take a look at
http://www.hllf.net/
Contains a detailed list of iOS bluetooth keyboard commands
http://axslab.com/articles/ios-voiceover-gestures-and-keyboard-commands.php
Contains commands for bluetooth keyboard commands, gestures and commands for
use with most braille displays.
I hope these help, they helped me a lot last year, I found out I could do a
lot more with my keyboard than I thought. Any thanks is owed to Ester, who
posted these links last year on the viPhone list.
