No bioweapon here. The Covid 19 is a natural recombinant virus that appears to
be fairly common in bats in China (along with a number of other similar
viruses) that somehow started infecting humans and causes significant disease.

This is hardly an unknown phenomenon -- the "Spanish flu" in 1918 was a porcine
virus that acquired the ability to infect humans, most likely in Kansas. It
infected a huge number of people because it got into an army base as the troops
were being deployed in 1917 and hence all over the world.

Stick with science. The likelyhood of something like Covid 19 has been giving
disease prevention people nightmares for decades. Similar diseases are Ebola
(from monkeys most likely), HIV (from chimpanzees) and several other corona
viruses. Nothing now except this one causes serious illness. Influenza most
probably came from birds and pigs originally, and the most serious forms
contain both avian and porcine DNA.

Remember, all you need to post on the internet is a computer of some sort and a
ISP. There are NO filters for content, and the amount of BS out there is
amazing. Just like all the small FM stations broadcasting Russian
propaganda..

PNW news outlets are spinning WAGs as soon as any half reliable or interesting
talking head pops out of the woodwork. One small group of medical people posit
it may be an auto immune reaction. The young have not encountered enough
interesting things, so all vectors are novel and elicit a mild enough response.
The aged have a lifetime of antibodies built up and this one is So Very
Interesting to them that a massive assault is launched which mirrors an auto
immune response.

A social justice news site last week posted a NASA image from before and after
the beer flu clamp down in the orient. No pollution in the upper atmosphere
being generated from the quarantine area. Not sure how they plan on dealing
with the bodies piling up, but so far, they are not tossing them on pyres.

2020-03-09 Thread Clay via Mercedes
I must know retract the auto accident death comparison. The whoohoo flu has
killed all the retired folks at the nursing home and that is going to beat
highway deaths this week. I think it may have also overtaken heroin OD and
maybe typhus. But only for the past week in Seattle. The socialist justice
city and state leadership is struggling to right the capsized kayak of their
faulty leadership.

There is a chance that the youth will become affected in some unsuspected
manner by this disease outbreak. With all the required working from home, the
low wage barista and burger slingers, as well as underpaid retail slaves will
be hard pressed to pay for what little food is left on under stocked store
shelves. Hunger will kill a few of them, as the Amazon delivery people will
also be forced to work from home or wear BSL IV gear to drop off boxes of
rations.

Gang violence will lead to a novel legal approach. Self defense, due to "the
*$$h*le gonna be sneezin’ the beer floo at me”. Something along the Burning
Bed defense

Vox is not exactly known as an objective news organization.

Also, where's the fun without a good conspiracy theory? The problem with
bioweapons is control; once released, they don't discriminate between friend
and enemy. A good bioweapon might have a very high mortality rate in the first
months, then mutate and weaken, so by the time it spread back to friendly
territory, it was weaker than the flu virus.

Re: [MBZ] Dying from Coronavirus

2020-03-09 Thread G Mann via Mercedes
 >Does the virus recur like herpes or polio? Are there unknown long-tern
effects, like sterility?

Although death has been proven to cause a loss of reproduction, other long
term effects are, as yet, unknown in full.

The DNA [virus does not actually have "DNA" but it does have something like
it, the tech name escapes me at the moment] HOWEVER, reports thus far say
it has 3 separate receptors [very unusual]

They are being reported as SARS , MERSA, and HIV1.
Upon exposure and infection, one of the 3 receptors attaches to the lung
tissue [apparently it is engineered to use the lung as the host organ for
all 3]
The first receptor to attach assualts the human and the human responds with
antibodies to resist THAT vector.. say for example SARS.. the body throws
an all in assault against the SARS infection and builds antibodies to
combat SARS...
Presume the individual is successful, and recovers, but the 3 headed virus
now has antibodies against 1 of the heads after a "dormat stage" one of
the remaining 2 attaches to the host and starts yet another assault... the
host human.. weakened by assault #1 now has to fight assault #2 from a
weakened state...
Followed by assault #3.

If this information is indeed factual, it is a very nasty SOB, and wisdom
says it did not occur in nature [calculate the odds of all three
combining via "natural causes" and then send me the winning lottery numbers
for this weeks drawing please]

Chinese Communist Party certainly knows what was being worked at Wuhan
Level 4 Lab... My bet is this is the root cause of the extreme lock down
and containment efforts.

Then again, it is "above my pay grade", thus mere speculation.

The Chinese conspiracists have two opposing faux news threads spreading
like a virus:

1) The US created COVID 19 and inoculated the Chinese, and the 20K ++
deaths attributed to this year's flu are actually due to COVID 19

OR

2) The Chinese government is hiding the massive loss of life in China, way
more than has been reported, and the number of fatalities are growing, not
shrinking.

Lots to chew on here.

What is a "health tech"? I would be willing to guess they are more like

Re: [MBZ] Dying from Coronavirus

2020-03-06 Thread archer75--- via Mercedes
Public Health scientists and physicians look at this as an opportunity to study
how pandemics spread in the modern world and which measures are most effective
in stopping them. It's a unique situation since they are reasonably certain it
began at a specific pig market in China. (As usual some Chinese say the U.S.
created the virus, and some Americans are saying the Chinese created the virus;
but it's agreed by all that it began in a certain city in China and that's good
enough for tracking it worldwide. If a truly deadly virus begins to spread,
what scientists learned from this "flu virus" may allow them to stop the spread
of the deadly virus.

2020-03-06 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Gerry makes a good point. I would agree that the media is blowing things out of
proportion somewhat. However, that being said, if that’s what it takes to raise
people’s awareness about proper hygienic protocols that should be practiced by
all at all times, it’s a good thing.

I’ve always been a stickler about hand washing and insisted that my kids do the
same when they were little, so they get into a good habit. It’s the other
guy/gal you have to worry about.

I was listening to a discussion on the radio today about the way various
countries are dealing with this, and the stuff they were saying about Italy was
pretty scary, and certainly explains why they’ve been a major vector in that
part of the world.

This is the first time I've ever been at the top of any list. Mixed feelings
about that.

Re: [MBZ] Dying from Coronavirus

2020-03-06 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
 I don't think its a hoax, I think its overblown. This is SARS/Swine flu/H1N1
all over again. The media hammers on it continuously and makes people scared so
idiots do stupid stuff like the Australian run on toilet paper. If you're doing
the stuff you should be doing anyway (washing your hands, being relatively
healthy) your chance of infection and death is relatively low.
You're much more likely to die of heart disease...
