About IDE... want more IDE problems? From DOS, do BASIC file.bas. If file.bas do not exist, system crashes! Today we find problems even doing just a _RAMDISK. It all works fine with my setup; and I got never any complaints about such errors. Probably there is something wrong with your memorymapper?? Well, I have not IDE, I saw this in the computer of a friend (a ST) without external mapper. probably your routine doesn't work correctly and corrupts the IDE workarea allocated in page 3. But NestorBASIC page 3 usage is only a small area reserved with CLEAR... With MegaSCSI, I never had ANY problem. I don't know, but perhaps MegaSCSI doesn't need any space in page3 (?where are the DPB's located then???) and uses sram or so. In that case a possible bug in your 'free BASIC memory' routine is not visible. Or perhaps MegaSCSI workarea is not as 'sensitive' to data corruption.
