I checked it, but I couldn't find any error!

Is there any other diskinterface in your computer? If this other
interface uses all driveletters, the IDE won't be able to install
itself.

Is the detection of your IDE device(s) ok at startup? (so: IDE Master:
Iomega ZIP... IDE Slave: not detected) If there is an error (like: IDE
slave failure!) , the whole thing will abort and the IDE system will not
be installed.

Maybe it helps to say that I work on an MSXturboR GT..I have tried it a
few times again, but it doesn't work in any way, it doesn't matter if I put
the ZIP-drive in Slave or Master or whatever, it does not work yet...

the ZIP drive I've used had some weird jumpers: I had to set the jumper
on 'SCSI address setting 1' to configure the device as IDE master and on
'SCSI address setting 2' for IDE slave.

First make sure the device detection goes fine at startup.

Well, I have not IDE, I saw this in the computer of a friend (a ST) without

probably your routine doesn't work correctly and corrupts the IDE
workarea allocated in page 3.

But NestorBASIC page 3 usage is only a small area reserved with CLEAR...

With MegaSCSI, I never had ANY problem.
I don't know, but perhaps MegaSCSI doesn't need any space in page3
(?where are the DPB's located then???) and uses sram or so. In that case
a possible bug in your 'free BASIC memory' routine is not visible. Or
perhaps MegaSCSI workarea is not as 'sensitive' to data corruption.

Well, if NestorBASIC corrupts IDE space in page 3, it is because this space
is not protected... so it is the fault of IDE software...

 Hi boyz!

A friend of mine use the new IDE (Ver.1.8) with an 8280. All is ok since

When he adds it the MSX stop. Why? Someone know the possible solution?

If the IDE-interface hasn't been modified as explained in the IDEFIX.TXT
file, you may encounter all kinds of problems with it. Especially if you
plug in too many hardware (like your memorymapper).

The IDEFIX.TXT file can be found through the msxfaq.
http://www.faq.msxnet.org and look for the IDE chapter.

PS Last version of the IDEFIX.TXT file was uploaded at 24th of January. No
changes have been made since. With this modification all IDE-devices will
work ok.

The ide are upgraded with this kind of modification, they work with bios
 1.8

be sure you use the last modification description (with the HCT chip)
(24jan99)

Anyway: to check if it is a software or a hardware problem: put the mapper
in and start your msx with INS pressed. In this way the idebios is
skipped. And then start some program to test your memorymapper (if the msx
hasn't already crashed because of hardware problems)
