Thanks Johannes for your efforts to port Openoffice into a usable editor for
context (if I'm guessing right your aim ...)
I've tried your files, whith corrections from Wolfgang : it's working.
But then I've added lists and images : it's not working.
At my user level, I don't understand what you're doing, but maybe others are
like me : write texts in OO and finely tune them via luatex (given the
understanding of t-openoffice.tex ...) : so we can easily import existing
docs, etc.
TIA for any answer

Send it directly to my mail address if it's under 9.5 M, an if bigger,

[NTG-context] acrobat reader does not open a pdf

I usually include external documentation (catalogs, etc.) as a clickable
link which open another doc. (parent-doc-test.{tex,pdf} --
doc-test-gobck.{tex,pdf})

On those external doc, I put buttons for returning to the parent doc. I
was making this thru variables for easy creation, and moreover for
multiple page inserting.

But now (context version: 2007.04.17) acrobat (linux/ubuntu feisty

Have you a better approach (for making those sons docs)?
TIA for any answer

[NTG-context] pb inserting multipage documents

2006-12-20 Thread olivier Turlier
Hi everybody,

I'm experiencing pb with the latest stable version : insertion of
multipage external document leads to the rendering of only the first
page, with this command :

\getfiguredimensions[doc-guidecstb-sol-tecnic-rt2000-gobck.pdf]
\dorecurse{\noffigurepages}{\externalfigure[doc-guidecstb-sol-tecnic-rt2000-gobck.pdf]
[width=\textwidth,height=\textheight][page=\recurselevel]}

If you are interested, you can test source and see differences at this
url : http://tebcado.free.fr/context-quest/01/

TIA for the answers.

[NTG-context] xmldir : hyperlinks not working

2006-10-31 Thread olivier Turlier
Hi every Context lover/user,

I came to using xmltools for building an long (boring) list of
foldersfiles, with the idea of sharing a cdrom with automount
niceties (shellexec.exe autorun.inf telling to open the generated pdf).

The problem is that xmltool apparently (skip certain portions ?) don't
recognise or retranscribe a full path, i.e if a real path is
root(K:\MESDOC\COURS\05-TEB~1\000_ZI~1)\01-at1-repres_graphic_gene\01-s8910-metre_infra\cours-ppes-metre-go-0506.pdf
firefox answer that (//media/cdrom0)/cours-ppes-metre-go-0506.pdf. is
unreachable

.tex file for creating xmldir.xml :

\useregime[il1]
\enableregime[il1]
\useencoding[ffr]
\mainlanguage[fr]

\executesystemcommand
% {texmfstart xmltools --dir --recurse
--root=K:/Mesdoc/cours/05-teb-0506/000_zip-tout
--pattern={*.pdf,*.xls} --output=xmldir.xml}
{texmfstart xmltools --dir --recurse --pattern=*.* --output=xmldir.xml}

-- command for making pdf from xmldir.xml :

texmfstart newtexexec.rb --autopdf --pdf --mode=colorscheme-red --xml
--use=dir-01 --pdf xmldir.xml

(I've tried also :
texmfstart newtexexec.rb --autopdf --pdf --mode=colorscheme-red
--root=K:/Mesdoc/cours/05-teb-0506/000_zip-tout --xml --use=dir-01 --pdf
xmldir.xml
: without success)

 It went terribly wrong. At first I thought it was just the

 I hope another someone who uses Windows98 can testrun the

 I got all sort of errors from command.com (syntax error,

 could not really debug. In the end, I basically gave up.

 Cheers, taco

After update with 2006-04-24 mswincontext cont-tmf versions, i was
unable to compile anything.

Everything went fine with previous updates, so I decided to follow exactly
wiki method for a Stand-alone ConTeXt distribution : same end.

From what i see in scite compilation panel : (new)texexec is unable to
find cont-en.fmt

As a good end user, I'm unable to investigate more, but obviously wait for
an answer/update.

(hopefully, i can borrow another xp box for continuing job)

Maybe I was unclear, I just want to be able to recall a certain style for

2) emacs+ auctex nor scite (installed before : maybe a reinstall ?) are
not context aware, so I can only texexec via the terminal
2) is texmfstart working on linux ?

PS : when everything will be fine, (tetex3 install, same .pdf results

The command # gzip -dc tetex-texmf.tar.gz \| (umask 0; cd

was impossible : bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('

I've tried , as a blind experiment : remove parenthesis, umask 022,
remove \, but still same kind of syntax error.

Will try to add this experience to ubuntu section, I've done the same
install @t home, everything was fine till to the end of the tetex3
installation page. I was only obliged to install twice cont-tmf.zip,
because I was not seing the line : used engineformatpath :
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf-config/web2c/pdfetex/ (notice difference of
paths from wiki and mine)
echo $PATH
My only remaining pb is adding *tex* executables to the path. I've tried
several ways with no success, and emacs nor scite are tex aware :
 $echo $SHELL : /bin/bash
so :$vim .bash_profile and add :
PATH=/usr/local/teTeX/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu:$PATH; export PATH
 on top of the file + reboot

[NTG-context] tetex or texlive on linux

2005-11-29 Thread olivier Turlier

Hi everybody,
I'm going to install context on a linux box (ubuntu 5.10).

1) I wish to hear texnicians (rather than aficionados) words on wich tex
distro fit best for mainly context use, on fonts optimisation, for
exemple, etc.

2) is informations on contextgarden wiki are still uptodate for tetex
install ?

Hi everybody,

/.../

Sorry for not being clear enough.

learning path is an acronym I've found while using Dokeos elearning
platform, as an equivalent to a course i guess. For creating a
course/learning path you assemble differents documents in a l.p.. When
the alumni/trainee reads this course, he will be able what he have to
read next after the fisrt doc, and so on. I've made a graphic capture of
the webpage for showing what elements are making a learning path in the
Dokeos vision : list of doc allready readen, docs to read, progression
bar, plus the breadcrumb trail;

for lists of already learnt documents: you can make a list of
chapters/sections/subsections somewhere on the page if you have enough
place. If you would like to get the chapter/section/subsection name,
you can get them with something like
\getmarking[chapter] $$ \getmarking[section] $$ \getmarking[subsection]
Perhaps some ifs are missing to check if a section/subsection is
defined, but someone else has to help you with it.

i don't want to put so much stuff in the pdfs made wit Context(apart
putting an A4 text on an A3 page!) because i keep a printable A4 format
for my courses, even i there interaction in it, for screen usage.

I'm not sure if I understood it properly, but if you need two
different versions of your documents with the same content, but
different layout, you can use modes
(http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Modes).

So i wish to have only vertical progression bars + percentage in the
inner margin. s-pre-01 original style show a bottom interaction bar
filled with pagenumbers drawn as little rectangles. Maybe it's possible
to draw a continuous bar with metapost, but for percentage ?

Ideally, i wish to have 2 progression bars : one for project progression
and second for product prog.

How would you calculate the project progression? The example below
calculates the percentage out of the number of pages in the current
document.

Here's an example how to make an extremely simple and ugly progression
bar at the bottom of the page. Take a look into the .mp file produced.
You'll find many other variables thay you may use to position your
progression bar properly.

\defineoverlay
  [ProgressBar A]
  [\useMPgraphic{ProgressBarA}]
\setupbackgrounds
  [text]
  [background={ProgressBar A}]

\startuseMPgraphic{ProgressBarA}
barW = 5cm;
barH = .7cm;

StartPage;
   fill unitsquare xyscaled(barW*(PageNumber/NOfPages),barH)
  withcolor .625red;
   draw unitsquare xyscaled(barW,barH);
   label.rt(textext($  decimal(round(100*PageNumber/NOfPages))
  \,\%$), (barW,.5barH));
   currentpicture := currentpicture shifted
(LeftMarginWidth+LeftMarginDistance,2cm);
StopPage;
\stopuseMPgraphic

\starttext

first page\page
second page\page
third page

\stoptext

I would suggest you to get familiar with metapost/metafun (learning
metapost by doing, the metapost manual, metafun manual, ...) if
you aren't yet. It's a simple and great programming/drawing language
and you can do amazing things with it.

Mojca

PS: just a note. Trying to execute the code written above under MikTeX
(on the old ;) ConTeXt version, 2005.08.31) leads to distrous
results and nothing worked as expected. It claims
\loadfontfileoncetrue to be undefined command, it complains about file
endings (it doesn't create .mpx files, so the label(textext ...)
doesn't work) ... and so on. It may be that something is wrongly
configured here, but I'm glad that I'm able to use the minimal ConTeXt
distr. as an alternative when something fails under MikTeX.

Hi Mojca,

Thanks a lot for your mp code, I got what i want but rightnow, I don't
know how to use it exactly, maybe as follows attached (try to display a
general progression thru advancement of each courses, and show on the
same pane (inner margin)), list of each chapters.

I'll try to cook a minimal but working example, as I got -- in a messy
way -- almost everything for bring this new layout to life.

 What do you do with ConTeXT?

I started informatic at 33 when coming back to studies : 2 years later
i've done my thesis with latex (took me 2.5 years!).
Now i try to teach buiding technics and design, with the help of paper
and electronic courses made with Context. Hopefully, my boss doesn't
know that it took me sometimes 2 days for writing a one morning course!

I must recognise that sometimes I think of having a good dtp software,
but after some test, I come back to Context. In the next decades, I'll
try to succeed in quizz making and/or nice looking book. I wish to meet
people using Context one day.

Thanks Hans and all others on the list .

Hi Christopher,
I was trying to compile Program-sample.tex because I find the
transparent white frame over the grey background very nice to see for a
pure electronic pdf. In the same range, the vit Zyka font demo catalog
(http://typokvitek.com/stormcontext/) push hard the limit of those
transparent overlays that I'm still in quest to reproduce.

Hi,
I've felt into same pb's trying to compile s-pre-61.tex directly from
it's original source. As far I can see (just to the surface of the
screen in fact) it's related to a specific font installed at Pragma, not
available for everyone as is.
if I replace or uncomment :
   \usetypescriptfile[type-ghz]

\definetypeface[mainface][ss][sans][optima-nova][default][encoding=\defaultencoding]
   \setupbodyfont[mainface,ss,18pt]
and put such general font switch like :
   \usetypescript [modern][\defaultencoding]
   \setupbodyfont[modern,ss,11pt]
it compile without pbs.
Your installation seems rather old

[NTG-context] accents in funny frame

2004-07-07 Thread olivier Turlier
Hello Contexers,
I play with the funny frame code given by Hans et al.
How put accentuation (french) in the frame title ?
I use latest context .iso image (ConTeXt ver. 2004.6.21 fmt: 2004.6.21
int: english mes: english)
Below is the source (compiled with : texmfstart texexec.pl --autopdf

[NTG-context] pdf 1.5 pb

2004-05-19 Thread olivier Turlier
Hi Contexers,
I've used Acrobat 6 to import and create .pdfs for inclusion as images, not thinking
about compatibility mode (set by default on acrobat 6 I suppose).
When I try to texexec a .tex doc with such pdf inclusions, i get this output :
Error: pdfetex (file ./pieces-graphiques-l.pdf): pdf inclusion: found pdf
version 1.5, but at most version 1.4 allowed
 == Fatal error occurred, the output PDF file is not finished!

My actual system (tetex+last context beta --thanks to Patrick Gundlach for his
installcontext.sh script):
pdfetex  --version
pdfeTeX (Web2C 7.4.5) 3.14159-1.10b-2.1
texexec --version
 TeXExec 4.3 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2004
texutil --version
 TeXUtil 8.2 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1992-2004

Thanks for your answer

Hello,
It seems that you're working on a Win$$ platform.
If you can grab Snag-it somewhere, you'll be able to save your
capturized images in a .png format, directly usable in Context.
Salutations.

[NTG-context] diplayed centered equations

2004-02-03 Thread olivier Turlier
hi contexers

I'm having pb trying to arrange aligned centered equations. When
compiling for right %\eqalignno or left %\leqalign, no pb's. But contex
is'n t happy with centered ones %\eqalign. Don't know how to solve this
tiny  but irritating pb.
Here a minimal exemple :

%working
	\placeformula[form:a-prime]
\startformula
a^{'} = \frac{1,05 \times N_{s}}{q_{s}} = \frac{1,05
\times 			0,246}{0,15} = 1,722  \approx \inframed{1,75 m}
\stopformula

%working
	\placeformula[form:a-prime]
	\startformula
	 \eqalignno{ %%or \leqalignno%%
 		a^{'}  =   \frac{1,05 \times N_{s}}{q_{s}}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:a]{a} \cr
 		  =   \frac{1,05 \times 			0,246}{0,15}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:b]{b} \cr
		  =   1,722  \approx \inframed{1,75 m}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:c]{c} \cr
	} \stopformula

%not working
	\placeformula[form:a-prime]
	\startformula
	 \eqalign{ %%or \leqalignno%%
 		a^{'}  =   \frac{1,05 \times N_{s}}{q_{s}}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:a]{a} \cr
 		  =   \frac{1,05 \times 			0,246}{0,15}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:b]{b} \cr
		  =   1,722  \approx \inframed{1,75 m}
\formulanumber[form:a-prime:c]{c} \cr
	} \stopformula

%not working
\usemodule[nath]
\placeformula
\startgather
f(x) = x   \\
g(x) = x2 \\
h(x) = x3
\stopgather
\stopformula
Thanks for the answer

Hi ConTeXers,

does

c:\pro .

work?

No, any of cmd tested send an error message :

ruby exampler --continue --setuppath=C:\Program
Files\TeXlive\texmf\context\ruby\examplap\scripts  %gives :
	ruby: No such file or directory -- exampler (LoadError)

ruby  -CC:\Program Files\TeXlive\texmf\context\ruby\examplap\scripts
--continue exampler  %gives :
	ruby: Can't chdir to C:\Program (fatal)

ruby  -CC:\Program_Files\TeXlive\texmf\context\ruby\examplap\scripts
--continue exampler%gives :
	ruby: Can't chdir to
C:\Program_Files\TeXlive\texmf\context\ruby\examplap\scripts (fatal)

Answers of Ruby are leading me towards a namespace problem, but it's
just a quick supposition

hm, can you try to run the file from a web browser?

Hans
After launching contex server on 8061 port by executing exampler.rb
from its location, nor the acrobat or web (IE6 or Mozilla 1.6) opened
examplap+combine.pdf give other answer than : invalid dialog.

Thanks for the answer

[NTG-context] educational quiz check-in boxes

2004-01-08 Thread olivier Turlier
Hi ConTeXers,

Does anybody can show me a minimal but complete example of a quiz, using
java, since I feel too old (big/wrong excuse!) for trying to understand
javascript.

My aim is to introduce a short auto-evaluation test after a theorical
course + examples, in an interactive form (no server side storage of the
results), in the way of acrotex package.

I will share it (in french!), once working, on the the ConTeX ploned
site. Thanks a lot.
