Does anyone have dedicated patron self-registration stations? Did you adjust
the display timeout so that it stays on that registration page or did you use
some other work around?

Hello Elizabeth,

The self check receipts are all action triggers. There are four action
triggers and their names all start with "Self-Checkout".

As far as I'm aware the self check does not currently have a way to tell it to
use Hatch.

Hope this helps,

Jennifer

SIP2 will send 'blocked' in the AF field if the patron's card has expired. It
will also set that block for other reasons such as owing too much money or too
many overdues. You will have to check your own system settings to see what
those thresholds are.

I don't think so, but the notes you see in the staff client (under Other ->
Notes) are not quite the same thing that a patron sees in the OPAC. The ones
in the staff client exist in a table called actor.usr_note. The ones in the
OPAC exist in a table called actor.usr_message. There's a trigger that will
copy entries from usr_note to usr_message for notes flagged as Patron Visible
(or "pub"
in the database). Patrons can delete their entries and the original entries in
usr_note would remain untouched. You can try Other -> Message Center from
within the staff client to help troubleshoot; it should match what the patron
sees in the OPAC.

Let me know if that helps.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Patron Visible Notes

2020-02-28 Thread Elizabeth Davis
Hello Everyone,

We are on 3.3 and we use patron visible notes to share the status of ILL
requests. A patron reported that they stopped seeing newer notes. They are a
heavy user of the ILL service so they had accumulated quite a few notes so we
deleted older ones, but they are still not seeing newer notes.

I tested it on my account and notice that of the 8 notes I have on my account I
can only see 4 in the TPAC.

Does anyone know if there is a limit or a setting that indicates how many are
seen?

times the item can auto renew. To turn it on is in the in the
Notifications/Actions Triggers tab under Local Administration. Should be
triggers for Autorenew and the notification, AutorenewNotify, that you can
clone.

This is a great discussion!

Thought I'd share how we implemented autorenewals in NOBLE:

A Library can opt in to autorenewal. Only their own items checked out at their
own library will be autorenewable. Network transfers are not autorenewable.

Autorenewal processing happens the morning the items are due so patrons don't
lose any time from their loan period.

Our autorenewal action trigger uses a custom filter so that it only runs for
the libraries who have opted in, and does not attempt to process autorenewals
for checkouts that are not renewable at all.

When a library opts in, and chooses a start date, we adjust their duration
rules to set the number of allowed autorenewals equal to the number of allowed
renewals. If a duration rule has zero allowed renewals, we don't set a value
for allowed autorenewals. This allows the action trigger filter mentioned above
the skip them.

To avoid the transition issue with new checkouts vs. existing checkouts, we
update open circulations for the opting in library which are due on the start
date and beyond to set the autorenewal remaining field equal to the renewal
remaining field. In that way, items that were checked out prior to the rule
change will be eligible to autorenew.

Feedback has been positive, though we have adjusted the notice language a few
times to make it less confusing.

Hope this is helpful!

We also implemented auto renew in late February this year (we are also the
other library Geoff mentioned). It was a little rocky at first, being the test
library for implementation, but once we worked out the kinks it has been smooth
sailing.

Overall patrons have been very happy with it though we did have one patron that
did not like the fact that the items renewed before their actual due date. Yes,
we are also the library Geoff mentioned whose items auto renew before their due
date. Thankfully it was resolved after speaking with the patron and explaining
renewals, how auto renewal works etc. I have started looking at changes to this
as I would prefer for the items to renew on their due date. The setup is what
it is due to how courtesy notices are set up.

Geoff mentioned the issues with generating notices.

For patrons with no email/sms; we tend to just explain to patrons about how
auto renewal works if they ask about it. After a few times it sinks in and they
come to expect it. We do not require email address so, personally, I look at it
as if a patron does not want notifications from the library that is their
choice. Can't force it on them.

We had already taken measures years ago to reduce fines (80% reduction) so
the impact that auto renewal has had is minuscule but as it was mention if
fines are a source of revenue auto renewal may not be a good fit.

I would echo Geoffs recommendations for implementation. It was something that I
overlooked and has been a thorn in my side since. Not only to give patrons time
to return items but also so you o not have a mess of notices like we do.
Simplicity.

Michele,

Yes, I think that having fields on the user object that return the preferred
names or regular names if there is no preferred name would be useful. It could
shortcut some coding.

That said, it would require some plumbing changes to the Evergreen object
system, and I'm not sure how generic it could be.

I am adding preferred name to our email templates, and it requires some
conditional logic in the templates. It would be nice if I could put that in a
separate template file that gets included in the others to avoid duplicate
code, but I don't think the templates in the database can include other
templates.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi Debbie

Thanks, we are on 3.1. It sounds like what’s happening to me. I didn’t think
to look at the bugs because it worked when it was set at the consortium level.

We are update to 3.3 later this month so I will wait.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Check Out Print Template

2019-05-24 Thread Elizabeth Davis
Hi Lindsay

Thanks so much. I had similar experiences and am glad I was on the right track.
We would love to use the juvenile flag for our libraries.

Sidenote- can anyone get the phone number to print on the checkout receipts? I
have the raffle slip auto populate the name and phone number and it’s not
printing the phone number.

The problem is, apparently, that the juvenile field isn't available to the
checkout receipt.

I successfully used the last family_name field (which is available) and it
printed for my "Nybody" test user, but not for me, "Stratton". Attempting
"patron.juvenile == '[any variation on false]'" did not work.

Also an issue - using the ngIf form (as found in Angular documentation), vs the
ng-if form (as used in EG templates). If ngIf is used, the block displays in
the preview and prints regardless of the if condition. Using ng-if, the block
does not display in the template preview, but prints according to the condition.

Hi Elizabeth,

The cash reports are focused on the workstation, not the staff member, and they
include only cash, check and credit card payments made at a workstation. The
Brick-and-mortar source includes account adjustments, as well as forgive,
credit (not credit card, but patron credit), work, and goods payments. You may
want to consider using the Payment: Desk source, which includes only the same
payment types as the cash reports.

In addition to what Bill mentions, the Accepting Staff Member field of the

It’s not quite instant, but the South Carolina State Library uses the online
registration form<http://www.statelibrary.sc.gov/get-library-card> to allow
almost-but-not-quite instant access to our electronic resources (includes
things like ebrary and Safari collections). That was the reason we chose to
implement the remote registration: to be able to grant access to users across
the state as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Circulation staff monitor the
pending patrons screen and are able to approve users quickly. These users
could be routed into an internet-access permission group.

I’m not sure if that answers your question, but it’s a workflow that functions
well for us.

Good afternoon -

We are interested in online registration that would allow patrons to use their
accounts instantly to check out online resources. Is that ever going to be
possible with Evergreen?

We would also like to have a mobile app for our catalog. Will that be possible

2018-04-18 Thread Elizabeth Davis
We use the online registration form with a welcome email trigger. When staff
process online applications, new card holders get a welcome email with their
card number so that they can start using online resources. The physical card
arrives a few days later via snail mail. It's not instant, but it's fairly
quick.

No, they are not the same thing.

The Last Activity Date is when the last time the user logged into the OPAC or

As far as I can tell, there's not a way to get that information from Evergreen
reports. You could do something like this to get a list of updated accounts
from the previous day if you have direct access to the database server (which
uses the auditor schema that tracks changes like that):

select u.id<http://u.id> as "User ID", aauh.expire_date as "Old Expire Date",
u.expire_date as "New Expire Date" from auditor.actor_usr_history aauh join
actor.usr u on (u.id<http://u.id> = aauh.id<http://aauh.id>) where
date(aauh.audit_time) = date(now() - '1 day'::interval) and aauh.expire_date <>
u.expire_date;
If you just want a count, just change the above to "select count(*) from...".
Hope that's helpful!
Chris

This isn't a complete solution, but maybe it'll put you closer.

If you go to SCLENDS shared folder, and Circulation, there's a report template
called "List of Patron Cancelled holds on Holds Shelf". This report can be used
to show items not on the Hold Shelf too. If you clone the report and go to base
filters, it has the 'Cause ID' as "6". If you can determine what number equals
staff cancellation, you'll have your report. I've no idea which number that'd
be tho'.

Hi Elizabeth,

There's a sum function that you can include in your receipt templates to add up
the given macro/value for a total.

I don't believe there's a count function, or I haven't seen one for the receipt
templates, at least.

You might be able to do something like one of these approaches:

For the "checkout" receipt template (line item bit is included within the
tags you have):

Line Item: %copy_number%

Footer: You currently have item(s) checked out
from%LIBRARY%

That would depend on each of the "copy_number" fields being "1", and that field
isn't a required entry... so it's probably not the best option.

I'd probably do something like:

Line Item: 1

Footer: You currently have item(s) checked out
from%LIBRARY%

So a barebones/complete example for line item/footer would be:

Line Item:

%title%
Author: %author%
Barcode: %barcode%
Due: %due_date%
Item Type: %circ_modifier%
1

Footer:

You currently have item(s) checked out
from%LIBRARY%
I'm not sure if there's any harm in hardcoding a "1" value for each line item,
but that seems to work. I'll let others chime in.

Good luck!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Reports Question

2015-08-07 Thread Elizabeth Davis
Hello,

I'm fairly new to Evergreen and I'm trying to create a report template for our
libraries to run based on holds. We need a list of books that have over 30 or
more holds. When I run the report based on the template I created, I'm getting
the consortium wide titles that have 30 or more holds when I just want a few
specific libraries.

I was filtering by
Hold ID Count
Requesting and even tried Owning Library
On the Holds Copy Map Source

Am I missing something or does someone have a template to share?

The new feature is great for this, but another option to consider is using
group e-mail rather than individual e-mail addresses in reports. For example,
if there is an e-mail address that goes to the library's reference staff, put
that address in the report, the e-mail will always go to the right people no
matter who joins or leaves the staff.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Login Form Box

2015-02-03 Thread Elizabeth Davis
Hello Everyone,

I recently saw some discussion of the OPAC Search box form and found that to be
very helpful. I was curious if anyone uses My Account login forms on their
website with Evergreen. With our current ILS, users can enter their user ids
and pins on our webpage and it will log them in as the OPAC loads. We would
like to continue to use that when we migrate this spring.

Thank you,

Jeff,

Thanks for the welcome!

This sounds like something with great promise. I'll be interested to see how
it works out.

On a related note, a contractor for Sitka has written code to make use of
OverDrive's APIs in the Evergreen OPAC:

http://git.sitka.bclibraries.ca/gitweb/?p=sitka/overdrive-evergreen-opac.git;a=summary

Please note that this is NOT ready to use yet (among other things, there are
some hardcoded Sitka-specific URLs). We are currently reviewing and testing
the code; I had been planning to do some cleanup over the next couple of weeks
before inviting others to try it out.

If Evergreen developers like the look of it, maybe this can also serve as a
basis for OneClickDigital integration? It's not currently set up to work with
multiple ebook/audiobook vendors, but there will naturally be some shared
functionality between OverDrive and OneClickDigital, and it would make sense
for the OPAC to reuse the same code for both.

Jeff

P.S. Welcome to the Evergreen community, Elizabeth!

Importance: High

Dear OneClickdigital Customer,

In our continued effort to make sure we provide a high quality user experience
for OneClickdigital, we have released a suite of APIs so that your ILS provider
can integrate OneClickdigital with your catalog. The ability to incorporate
OneClickdigital authentication, check out and title discovery from within your
catalog, are all now available to ILS providers.

At this point it is up to your ILS provider to take the next step and integrate
OneClickdigital for a better user experience for your patrons. The more that
ILS providers hear from their customers about your desire to have
OneClickdigital integrated, the faster it will happen.

Please take a moment to reach out to your ILS provider and ask them to
integrate OneClickdigital. The more libraries make this request, the quicker
it will be available. Below is a link to the press release about our API
Suite, as well as a sample letter that you can send to your ILS provider.
