Re: [Opensim-users] Save OAR - Unrecognized asset type 57
Thanks for identifying the issue Ubit. I wonder of the error message could give the usual object name, region and x/y/z location? That always help track down these things. I am not exactly clear what a "material" is in the content of OpenSim. Is it anything that sets the bumpiness or shininess with a texture? I thought the proper materials (PBR style and glTF materials upload) was all under development in test viewers that LL is testing out with a creators group in SL? We did this a long time ago with MyCyberTwin chat bots from a company in Australia who had a free service and had a Second Life/OpenSim script to connect them in world (at the time XMLRPC) and they worked quite well. One fun thing is to put two of them near each other and see what they chat between themselves! But MyCyberTwin is no longer available. As @Ubit indicated its wise to make sure .ini files are up to date and based on the latest examples, but for those keeping things up to date as changes occur,. for the next release based on dev master I suggest that explicit attention in the announcement is drawn to this change and it be highlighted prominently in the changes and release notes to avoid a lot of simple issues for upgraders. I see growing use of FBX in other tools and platforms and recently came across a very nice (free) FBX exporter for objects in any format (such as primitive shapes, OBJ meshes and Collada DAE meshes and combinations of them) in Unity3D. Our OAR Converter can take OpenSim OAR content via Collada into Unity3D and from there it can now be now be exported to FBX to allow OpenSim to be a part of a development route for builds for multiple platform use. Re: [Opensim-users] MySQL create table for regions fails on new data base setup?
Thanks for those notes... as noted on the Mantis at http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=7799 I think the fix is simply to drp the ROW_FORMAT=FIXED from the current scheme spec for "regions". I have tested Openvue and AiLand grids with the regions table options with ROW_FORMAT=FIXED changed to unspecified.. i.e. "Don't Use" in the MySQL GUI. That works fine as far as I can tell. I then tried a MySQL dump from a MySQL 5.6 setup and was able to successfully mount that on a fresh sever on version 5.7.10 and I am now running Openvue grid on that. So I think the fix is very simple... the regions table schema needs to have the ROW_FORMAT=FIXED removed.. I am not sure how to set up migrations like this, so can a dev experienced in migrations do this for MySQL and consider if its needed for all other supported data bases? ___ Opensim-users mailing list Opensim-users@opensimulator.org http://opensimulator.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users
Re: [Opensim-users] MySQL create table for regions fails on new data base setup?
As noted before, I am getting an error on loading a MySQL 5.6 dump of my OpenSim content and trying to load it on a new MySQL 5.7 server. I have tracked this down to the SQL load complaining about a ROW_FORMAT=FIXED on the "regions" table That seems to be the only table row that has that option. Is this fixed setting needed, and is it correct for recent MySQL data base versions? Can it safely be changed to "Don't Use" like all the other opensim data base tables? ___ Opensim-users mailing list Opensim-users@opensimulator.org http://opensimulator.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users

Tom... and others... its also worth making a copy of config-include\osslEnable.ini into a file with another name there... [Opensim-users] Built in plants winking on and off when linked to an object?
I am not sure if this is a new issue... or if its been around a while.. and whether its a viewer issue or not (I am using Firestorm 4.7.3) .. anyone seen this or know the cause... I place trees or plants using the standard build tool... any type... they show fine. But when I link those plants into another prim such as a box for a plan pot the plants disappear. If I move the camera around they wink on and off. Also (maybe related) some earlier builds from years ago that had "Plumeria" plants suddenly started showing up as pine trees! ___ Opensim-users mailing list Opensim-users@opensimulator.org http://opensimulator.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users

From: Thomas Ringate tring...@gmail.com I just tried to login to Vue Port and got the response that the region I was trying to go to was not available and I was being transferred to a nearby region. The time is 10:44 am eastern daylight time (USA), May 28, 2015. Not sure if you have taken the region down or if this is the problem you are experiencing. It should be available, and is up just now Thomas... sorry if it was down while we have been testing things. [Opensim-users] Memory usage
From: Thomas Ringate tring...@gmail.com ...I have noticed now for about a month or so that when an avatar arrives on a region, the simulator memory usage skyrockets. Usually the idle memory usage has been 200MB or so for a region with no prims at all on it. Just the terrain with nothing added. Now the same region will skyrocket to over 1.5GB [-- Ai correction] when an avatar arrives, then gradually decrees a small amount once the region has no avatars on it. ... What the heck changed in opensim that has caused memory usage to skyrocket when an avatar arrives and why does it now [-- Ai note: do you mean not?] drop back to a reasonable level? Can you pin down more precisely when this started Thomas. In the last month or so there has been the BIG changes to how the initial inventory loads (which fixed a serious initial inventory hang issue some of us have been having for some time on OSGrid), and that is having some less serious knock on issues that are still under investigation. But these would not have started until 6th to 8th May. So if your issues started 6 weeks ago then its something else. It may be worth starting a Mantis to try to get some in pit from others, but as a quick test I just used one addon test region on OSGrid and observe these memory usage figures on a Windows 8.1 setup using SQLite... [Opensim-users] Singularity - Object Export - Built in Texture Handling
I am not quite sure where to send this suggestion... as opposed to a bug report.. but in the hope that the Singularity viewer folks might see this mailing list... I note that when objects are exported to Collada DAE or 3D OBJ the textures that are allowed to be exported do not include the standard built in ones that a re VERY commonly included in objects. Blank Texture Default (Plywood) Texture Default media Texture Default Trabsparent Texture all of which have a standardized UUID and all of which are open source. Not including these means that any object intended for export has to be changed to include your own fresh versions of these items.. which for complex objects is a LOT of work. I know, I just did that to get a simple build out from OpenSim for use in HiFi and it took ages and needed multiple attempts to find all the faces with those 4 built in textures on them. Can I suggest that these 4 items should be exported as if hey are fully accessible as if the exporter was creator? ___ Opensim-users mailing list Opensim-users@opensimulator.org http://opensimulator.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users
[Opensim-users] Long delay in a saved notecard in an inworld prim being shown in prim contents
I have a prim with a script in it to simply save the avatar appearance as a notecard into the prim itself. So the avatar appearance can be cloned for an NPC. But although the scripts reports it has written the notecard., when I edit the prim to retrieve it, the notecard is not present. As its on one of my own regions on OSGrid, I can even do a backup to force persistence of the changes, I thought. But it still does not show. It only shows when I log out and back in (with Firestorm). Is this a recent problem, I do not remember this being an issue before. Shall I report it on Mantis? Another odd thing... again I don't recall this before. I could not put an inventory item (the prim mentioned above) in world - it shows the not permitted icon). And the no building allowed icon showed in the top parcel bar. Even though this is for the plot owner and region owner avatar. I had to change the plot to allow anyone to build, so the no build icon was not present. is that yet another issue? I will report it on Mantis if others have seen this. ___ Opensim-users mailing list Opensim-users@opensimulator.org http://opensimulator.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/opensim-users

Luca, thanks fro testing things on several setups. I am struggling to work out why items are failing to properly be transferred to HG visitors. Randy, as Melanie and Butch indicated... the issue is likely to be that when XBakes was first included the location for saving avatar baked textures was set to the unix-orientated /data/bakes in Robust.ini.example. Matt, there is a way to manually repair the broken symbolic links using the Firestorm viewer latest release 4.6.9 by right clicking on any broken link and selecting Replace Links... but as you can understand its a very laborious process and only suited for identifying the actual assets that are still in their correct place. For those with many outfits or symbolic links. its much better just to start from scratch and make new outfits. I move all the broken My Outfits sub-folders into a new folder Broken Outfits and use those as a guide to what I need in the outfits, but the start from scratch. Remember Current Outfit is broken as well, which is why every avatar on the rebuilt grid will initially show as a cloud. So every avatar does need to select and wear a new outfit. I provide a Ruth new outfit or they can select whatever initial avatar they had for that purpose for every avatar. I have not tried your idea of doing data base changes to make this smoother for users. I just tell them on login to the rebuilt grid to re-wear their basic body items and suitable clothing items and then they will rez and not be a cloud.
