Subject: question on streaming audio with SoundForge

Hi All,

Once I could ghave an audio file or program playing via the internet and
record it in progress with soundforge via streaming. Now I can not and
belive something got accidently changed on my end. I would genuinely be
greatful to someone helping to make this feature return. Here is how I have
recorded a streaming file in the past.

I am using Windows Seven professional.

System Access in my primary screenreading software. However, I do have
access to JAWS, Window-eyes and NVDA.

1.Open Soundforge.

2. Press control plus the letter r to start the recording process.

3. Press alt plus r to start the actual recording.

4. Access the internet and locate the sound byte I wish to record. Then
start that sound byte playing

5. When the audio is finished, go back to soundforge and press escape twice
to stop the recording.

6. Edit out the unwanted material at the beginning of this recording and
save the final product.

That is how it was done up to about a week ago.

Now when trying to record from streaming audio folloing the above steps,
nothing records.

Thanks again for any help.

Re: Where can I find out about Cricket, Australian Rules Football and Rugby, and where can I find streaming audio for these sports?

2013-08-03 Thread Robert Nelson

http://members.optusnet.com.au/stephenjolley/livestreams

Note that this is an Australian site so most football matches will only be
heard between 1:00 am and 8:00 am on the east coast of the USA.

Note also that Steve refers to Rugby League as NRL and there tends to be
multiple games at the same time and the ABC (Australian Broadcasting
Corporation) has 2 streams for each game.

International cricket can currently be heard from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm on the
east coast of the USA but as it is being played in England, the weather
might determine when or if there is any play on a particular day.

Australian Rules football may be heard between midnight and 10:00 am on the
east coast of the USA but be warned that this is a game whose rules and
terminology may be mystifying. It is a game that you need to have actually
played to be able to understand what is going on.

For that matter, cricket is also a game that you actually have to have
played to appreciate the finer points of what is going on and what the
terminology, tactics and strategies mean. Although it is not difficult to
appreciate the danger of a 5 ounce ball being bowled at you at 100 miles per
hour. If you calculate how long it takes a ball travelling at 100 miles per
hour to cover 22 yards of a cricket patch, you will get some idea of how
little time a batsman has to react to a ball which could be going behind, in
front of or (if he is not careful) directly into the batsman's body.

If you are interested in a more general audio stream about sport and have
the program tapin radio browse through the Australian streams for ABC
grandstand which is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's general sport
stream which covers all kinds of sports.

Streaming audio efficiently

2011-10-20 Thread Dane trethowan

Hi gang!

Looking for an energy efficient way to stream audio from point A to B?
Well I can think of acouple of ways off the top of my head but using an
Iphone or an Ipad to stream your music library around the house would
have to be one of the most efficient ways to do it and to save quite a
bit of money in tern as you don't need a computer, just your network and
network gear such as modems and gateways run off the smell of an oily
rag smile

Audio streaming from an iPhone or an iPad is usually done through
Apple's airplay facility and you can use a compatible receiver to
receive the stream, say an Airport Express, Apple TV, compatible amp or
surround-sound receiver or another computer if you so desire.

Under IOS5 Airplay streaming is grately enhanced particularly for
those who use voiceover, Voiceover is no longer streamed alongside your
music thus you can control everything directly from your IOS device
which allows the possibility of multi tasking - allowing the stream to
play in the background whilst getting on with writing/reading Email or
whatever.

I have both an iPhone 3GS and original iPad here, Airplay works well
on each device though I have had some trouble with the iPhone 3GS and
Airplay from time-to-time, I suspect this is due to interference on
the network caused by another wi-fi network not far from here, the
iPhone uses the G protocol rather than N and this may have something to
do with it too!

I recently did some Tweaking and changed the wireless G channels on my
Airport Time Capsule which is my base station and since that time I'e
not noticed the interference problem again so perhaps that's that one
fixed and dealt with smile.

Even streaming from Skype isn't that bad if you have SterioMix

Or why not setup a Dropbox shared folder, any music you put in the
folder, will be visible to your friend..

Hope I helped, if you have questions regarding the methods, please

Hi,

There are many ways to stream audio over the net.
First of all, you can setup a Shoutcast server and stream it using a
Shoutcast program.
Shoutcast server:
http://myradiostream.com

If not you can tweet it to one another if you are using Twitter with the
Qwitter client.

if you are to use the NCH broadwave software to stream, how would you link to a
church website to be able to use the software free? surely simply linking the

There use to be a free tool called Hathor that will do this. It creates a
web page that you can log in to and then stream your music. If you can't
find it drop me email. I have a copy of it here. The copy I have is from

Combining genres with streaming audio

2009-11-20 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hi guys,

I want several genres when listening to streaming music. For
example, I want music for a party which combines rock, country and
pop. Does anyone know of a service by which I can do this? I use
Live 365, Jango and Pandora but have never seen this
function. Actually, I tried searching for country and rock in
Pandora but the results weren't the best.

Thanks,
Norma

Re: Streaming Audio to a Non-Networked Device

2009-05-08 Thread Rick Alfaro
So how does a blind user go about selecting music from the Linksys
device? I'm sure there is probably a remote that comes with it but the
trouble I ran into with a similar device called the Roqu SoundBridge,
was that selecting folders or tunes was all done via a display while
controlling it with a remote. Not accessible at all other than
memorizing some keystrokes to try and get to a play list or folder of
music. You could do stuff from the pc side and the software was
somewhat usable, but that was not much help if you are sitting in
somewhere else, a few rooms away.

There used to be a device called the CD3O that actually used TTS to
announce the songs and I had heard that the device was actually quite
accessible, but I don't know if that company is even in business any longer.

Re: Streaming Audio to a Non-Networked Device

2009-05-07 Thread Steve Matzura
Yeah Rick, sounds like this would be the best thing to do, and I
already have the machine to do it with, no problem at all. My
receiver is too old for digital input, though. Its manufacture was
stopped in 1993, although the companion CD player does have an optical
output (one of those funny square connectors, not SPDIF or anything
like that). This is probably how it'll go, but the music bridge thing
might be right for the bedroom environment, where things have to be
smaller, or maybe the netbook, which is pretty small.

Since my wife and daughter needed good video for the Netflix movies, I
bought a video card from NewEgg with DVI output to go to our hd TV so
video looks great. You have to match the output of the video card to
whatever your TV accepts like DVI, HDMI, or Component if you care about
video.

I use either Winamp or Itunes for streaming my music from a network

To me, this is the best setup because it is easy, in expensive, and
perfectly accessible.

around to give me digital out for audio

Since my wife and daughter needed good video for the Netflix movies, I
bought a video card from NewEgg with DVI output to go to our hd TV so
video looks great. You have to match the output of the video card to
whatever your TV accepts like DVI, HDMI, or Component if you care about
video.

I use either Winamp or Itunes for streaming my music from a network
drive and it sounds terrific.

To me, this is the best setup because it is easy, in expensive, and
perfectly accessible.

Why not get a netbook? You could just plug a cable from that into your audio
center.
Netbooks cost anywhere from 300 to 400 dollars. I highly recommend the asus
lineup. I might add here that if you need to do simple line in recording,
the microphone jack works good with that, surprisingly.
I personally own the asus 900 ha, but its getting a bit old;if your looking
for battery life (I'm guessing your not, but anyway) there's a new 1000 he
out there that has a wapping 9.5 hours battery life, comes with wireless and
bluetooth and costs 330 bucks.

Hi,
I did a very simular thing. Instead of getting a netbook though, I
purchased a Asus Eee Box. It's simular to the Eee P C , but it's a very
compact desktop. I have it hooked to my stereo and it has both wireless
N and gigibit lan. The onboard sound is great for speech. I use a
creative xmod for music, and it seems to do the job quite well. I leave
it on 24/7 , it only uses a very little amount of power compared to my
full sized p c's.

Dear all,

Many thanks to those of you who have contacted me recently regarding
Internet Explorer 8, and the compatibility issues that Microsoft have with
embedded real audio.

I have two separate and long conversations with Microsoft IE8 technical
support over the last couple of days, and they have confirmed that there
is

a serious compatibility issue.

To cut a long story short, I believe that those of you who received the
update for Internet Explorer 8 in the last few days (roll out began March
18) will only hear silence when accessing http://www.pressakey.net and any
other page on the Audio Network.

As yet, there are no plans for a patch to fix this problem.

I'm asking for your help in confirming this issue, which I am going to
take

to Bill Gates if I have to.

Please would you let me know if you can hear any audio on the following
web

page, and what browser you are using. It means a lot to be able to show
Microsoft that is is a real issue with more than one person.

Please try to listen to

http://www.pressakey.net/

Just for yours and everybody else's information, I did a quick count up of
the total page views and visitors for the Audio Network over the last 12
months. On average there are over 400 visits per day, and over the last 12
months visitors have opened up almost half a million pages - I know that
is

small compared to the big guns I am talking with, but I hope that those
kind of numbers might just show them that people are finding the site
useful, informative, fun, and a part of their lives on a regular basis!

Please pass this on to as many people as you possibly can, asking them to
do

the same, and let me know the results by return of e-mail.

Thank you for your help and support,

Thanks!

Streaming Audio in the Home

2009-02-20 Thread Steve Matzura
There are several new solutions for streaming audio in the home these
days. I'm thinking, of course, of products like Squeezebox and others
from Logitech and other companies. Of course, there's nothing like
plugging a laptop into a home network and browsing a drive on another
machine, but sometimes that's overkill, and sometimes an extra laptop
isn't available for the purpose, or it doesn't have a sound card
that's up to the task. Has anybody used any of these audio-streaming
products, and how do they like them in terms of accessibility?

Just depends on what you mean by a little cash. $20 or so I'll go for

give it a test spin.

Streaming audio and cell phones? Is it possible?

2008-08-28 Thread Lynn Schneider
I know that this message is off topic, but I honestly don't know where to go
with it, and I need a solution as quickly as possible, so please respond to
me privately and not to the list. I am a storm and earthquake enthusiast
and often visit web sites like www.hurricanecity.com and other live coverage
sites. There's a potentially significant storm brewing out there right now
and there is a good chance I will be at work when it hits the U.S.
Management has cracked down on people listening to streaming audio on the
company internet. Is there any way possible that I could get this streaming
audio live during my lunch and break times using my cell phone or maybe a
notetaker? I also spend a good bit of time waiting for paratransit and
would love to have access to the internet while I wait, especially streaming
audio. Is this even possible with the current technology? How much money
would it cost? I would buy a notetaker if I could get this streaming audio
independent of my employer's internet facilities.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

There's a cell phone mailing list you should really ask this question
on, but I'll try and give you a short answer that'll give you some
things to think about.

Cell hone yes, notetaker definitely no, unless it's something like a
Pac-Mate which is really more than a notetaker anyway. But sure! Been
possible for years now! What you need is a suitable handset and data
plan is all. I listen to Internet radio via Windows Media Player on
my XP6800 on Verizon's network all the time. You really also want a
good quality Bluetooth headset, like my very favorite but hard-to-get
Plantronics PL859 (which also doubles as a great set of headphones for
a PC or portable media player).

cost of streaming audio on the net

2007-12-15 Thread Bob Seed
Does anyone on the list know approximately how much it would cost to stream
audio on the net?I want to stream audio on two tourism websites and want to
know what is involved in getting the signal from the source to the website.
I would imagine that the quality of the signal and bandwidth would be a
factor. Thanks in advance.

Wrong tool, wrong concept. M3U is a playlist, not a stream. You want
a program like Total Recorder from High Criteria. Comes in two
versions. Current release is 6.0, very accessible, very good program.
I use it all the time to capture stuff from BBC7 to play back after
it's gone from their weekly schedule.

M audio delta audiophile 192 and recording streaming audio.

2006-06-04 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hello!
Is it posible to record streaming audio with the m audio delta audiophile 192
soundcard using any sound editor
If yes then i've must have done something wrong during the installation becuase
i can't figure out how to do this.
THere are no settings for example in the volume control under the menu
alternative and then properties and then recording.
I really cant explain it better.
So if you would like to help then just ask questions and i'll try to answer
them as good as possible.
THanks in advance.

Re: trouble with playing streaming audio

2005-10-10 Thread patricknc
I tried a couple of games, , while I didn't have a choice of connection or
player, the quality beat mlb.com hands down. And they seem absolutely
determined to put out that bad quality. I remember hearing games on A.M.
radio stations back in the sixties that came in on phone lines that sounded
better than mlb.com's audio this year. I didn't think it could get any
worse than it sounded last year, but they fooled me. If I was MLB.com, I
wouldn't claim ownership of that quality. I don't expect cd quality or
anything like that, but they can do a lot better than they're doing. I'd
even consider paying some more money for the better quality. They've proved
they can do better. Just listen to the clips they have from MLB TV.

It isn't obvious at first glance, but when you first try listening to a
game, MSN's software requires that you indicate the speed of your modem
connection before you get to listen to a game.
Once you do that, the play link will work.

Re: [Bulk] Can't do streaming audio with WMP.

2005-10-05 Thread Larry Naessens
Hi Deb. Have you by any chance installed some software since the last
time you listened to those .asx streams. I'm asking because the same
thing happened to me when I installed Winamp 5.1. Logically, as a
couple of list members pointed out when I mentioned the problem, with
.asx files on my computer directed to associate with WMP, there
shouldn't be any connection to the Winamp install. However, when I
uninstalled Winamp 5.1 and reinstalled Winamp 5.093, .asx files began
to play again just fine through WMP. Just thought I'd pass it along
in case your dealing with something similar.

Meanwhile, with the link in focus, try doing a save target as from
the audio file to your desktop. Then press enter on the resulting
file. For me, that was a workaround while I figured out what was going on.

2005-10-05 Thread Peter Logue
You've probably got Winamp installed? Here's a little trick I discovered. I
don't know why this works, but it does. Here's what you do.
Get into Winamp preferences, then file types. Now tab to the button that
reads none and hit enter.
Now tab into the list view of file types and select only mp3. OGG and m3u.
to play.
Your file will now launch Windows Media Player and play fine.

Winamp not identifying streaming audio

Hi. What kind of error messages do you get, if any when you try to listen
to an audio stream? what happens, or doesn't happen? Obviously it's not
working correctly but in these cases, specifics do help because there are
just so many configurations and possible settings. it's possible that you
just might be trying to tune into a station that's currently off the air,
there may be technicle problems, it just goes on and on.

MSN And Streaming Audio

Hello folks: Late last night, I downloded MSN 6.2; didn't seem to be much
choice in the matter..they were hellbent on making me do it! But now..I
notice that..ever since I've downloaded MSN, I've tried to listen to two
audio streams..and they won't work! If I hit myy enter key, I hear a
weird sound through my speakears..and the player does nothing! So my
question is: does MSN now have some sort of pop-up blockerthat interferes
with certain types of audio streeming? If so, how can I work around it? If
need be, I'll just uninstall MSN; haven't really used it that much
lately..although I hate to do that as I do have some friends who are on MSN.
But I want to be able to hear my audio streamming when I want to; this
doesn't appear to be happening with all audio streamming..just a couple;
one of the ones in question is at www.wtnt.com (hope I have that url
correct)..and the other is www.wphb.com If anyone can help, it would be

Australian Open Tennis in streaming audio

2005-01-16 Thread Stephen Jolley
The Australian Open started today Monday, and runs through to Sunday week,
January 30.
It appears there will be extensive coverage in streaming audio.
Playing times are from around 11:00 AM, (mid night GMT), to around 1:00 AM the
following morning, (14:00 GMT).
1.The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), is streaming radio
coverage from
www.abc.net.au/tennis.
Not sure what time this will start each day. This is continuous stroke by
stroke coverage.
2.BBC Five Live Sportsextra is streaming evening sessions from 7:30 (8:30
GMT). You might like also to keep an ear on BBC Five Live
www.bbc .bco.uk/fivlive,
for some updates and commentary of day sessions.
3.The official site
www.ausopen.org
is featuring one match per day. Click on the AO Radio link for details.
Great to see that not only is there coverage, but it is not restricted to one
particular provider.
To those who care, Have many happy hours listening, wherever you are.

Hi, John, I would personally reccommend a reinstall of winamp, and
though this might seem drastic, you'll understand why in a bit. The
modern skin support and our screen readers do not get along at all, and
so to avoid ever running into that problem, reinstall winamp 5.05, and
during the installation, tab to the tree-view in the installer, and in
this installer, everything is checked by default, so, I personally
would press the space bar on winamp agent, to prevent it from being
installed, and modern skin support, to prevent it from being installed,
and visualizations, because we don't need them. If you use your review
cursor, as you press the space bar to unselect more and more things,
you'll find the space needed to install winamp gets smaller, and
smaller, and ideally, instead of 12 megs, it should be about 6 megs,
but this is a rough guess of whatt is being installed. Then after
you've unselected all the things you want to with the space bar, then
you can proceed to the next part of the installation. Doing this, will
insure that you'll never choose the modern skin by mistake. To get out
of the skins list, just hit shift tab, and you're back in the
tree-view, just hit p for plugins, and go from there.

Hi, Richard, go into preferences with control p, and arrow down to
plugins, then down arrow to input, and tab to the list, the first one
is the one you want, so press the configure button with the space bar,
upon which, you will be in a tab control, just control shift tab to the
right most tab, the streaming tab, and then tab to the track bars, and
for each of them, press the end key on the 6 pack, and with
window-eyes, at least, they both should say 50 of 50, but jaws will say
100 per cent, tab to okay, press the space bar, and press the space bar
on the close button to get out of preferences. This should minimize
break ups during a stream, because the buffer will be maximized.

Is there some kind of adjustment to the settings that will eliminate this?

I'm not sure what screen reader you use but you can do a left mouse click on
plugins, that usually works for me. The trouble I have sometimes is getting
of the modern skins when my cursor is on that.
