This was talked about , on the Nikon D1 BB, when people started aquiring their 10mp Nikons, D2X and D200, was that camera shake became more noticable with the jump from 4-10 mp. Its not an issue they say if the old shutter rule is applied( keep shutter at least to lens focal lenght) and or VR lenses used. I have noticed nothing out of the ordinary going from 4-10mp but i tend to use the VR on the 70-200 a lot, and high shutter, so maybe thats why. Just something to keep in mind with the K10D unless you have investigated this already. Is the K10D equiped with the IS sensor to, or just the K100D and K110D. The widely varying performance is because some testers don't realize that the D70 and D50 use different but related sensors. The D100, *ists and KM bodies are all fairly similar in noise performance (and use the same sensor), the D70 is better but not massively so and the D50 is better to much better than the D70 (better in RAW, much better in JPEG). -Adam Rick Womer wrote: My understanding is that noise has as much to do with the firmware as with the sensor. Re: Stumped Over K10D
The K10D (or whatever the heck Pentax will be calling it), is reputed to have the Anti Shake system, the K110 does not. David J Brooks wrote: This was talked about , on the Nikon D1 BB, when people started aquiring their 10mp Nikons, D2X and D200, was that camera shake became more noticable with the jump from 4-10 mp. If i have to shoot the D2H over 320 iso, under cloudy skies, its bad. You notice it in the riders face. I have not noticed as that bad on the D200. At Xmas time i took a few indoor baby shots under florecent light at iso 800 and printed an 8x10 for the Mom. It ;looked very good, but then again at iso 1600 in the arena under extremly poor light, it was noticable. But i bet any camera would have been bad with that light. My istD is good for noise. Dave According to tests, all the Pentax bodies have poor noise performance, but the comparison is against bodies like the 200D and D50 which are essentially noise-free below 1600 and extremely clean at 1600+, not film which is grainier than any reasonably current 1.5x sensor camera at a given ISO. In the real world, they're good but not stellar. I don't expect the 10MP body to be noticably worse for noise than the 6MP bodies, but I wouldn't expect much better either. -Adam -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net Equine Photography in York Region -- When you're worried or in doubt, Run in circles, (scream and shout). -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Re: OT Monument Valley Utah / Arizona need advice
Actually, I found it amusing. It's always fun to be the center of attention:-) The most fun I had with spectators while shooting a commercial was in San Francisco at city hall. We converted city hall into an opera house and shot overnight. (City Hall looks a lot more like an opera house than the nearby opera house.) Some of the commercial took place on the front steps. Hundreds of people in formal dress descended the stairs as the performance ended and got into their limos, which, of course, included numerous Lincoln Town Cars. Apparently some activists heard about the shoot and turned out in full force. Some of us wore headphones so we could hear the director on the large set, so it looked like we were recording sound. We weren't. But when the director saw the hundreds of protesters lined up across the street, he didn't want to disappoint them. So before he gave his Roll film command, he did an extra loud Roll Sound. That initiated a chant from the protesters, who screamed at the top of their voices: Less money for cars! More money for AIDS! Good times were had by all. A few questions on a Zeiss Ikon, an old film and a studio lighting peace
Hi all, I would appreciate some help on a few things. At the following adress there are a few pictures. They are self explanatory. I got a few questions regarding what's in them. http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=627921 1) Regarding the Zeiss Ikon Nettar front piece: You can see this red little thingy set at F. Now what does this red thing do there? What does F and M mean? 2) You'll see two pictures of one very old (exposed) film canister. a) Can anybody estimate some dates for it's production? b) Any suggestions on what process might get any pictures out of it? 3) You'll see another thingy, which is a (infrared?) sender which will trigger some Godard studio lights that I will start learning how to use. It obviously needs a battery. Does anybody know of what voltage this battery would be? (Or is this evident? There are batteries of different voltages that will physically fit, right?) Many thanks in advance for any answers or good clues. Lasse -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: OT Monument Valley Utah / Arizona need advice
I like the Director. Nice blend of centered folks and the 'fringe'. Jack --- Paul Stenquist [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Actually, I found it amusing. G Jack --- Paul Stenquist [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I shot a Buick commercial on 163. Of course it was a bit intrusive with half a dozen trucks and a crew of 30. We were up toward the top of the road looking back toward MV. It was about this cowboy who was driving his Roadmaster back to New Jersey to visit his mama (no kidding). Anyway, people who drove buy screamed things at us like, Get the F out of the road. Shove that big pig of a Buick up your A. And things like that. Lots of fun. But no one likes a big film crew in the middle of their vacation. Paul On Aug 2, 2006, at 7:29 PM, Jack Davis wrote: A shot on a wet 163 is one I'll never forget. I had a 4-WD, but many didn't and at that time,('prox 3 yes ago) the road/trail didn't require it. There is a day use picnic area I saw, but don't believe there is a camping place there. I'm putting up a shot taken from the picnic area. (Used orange filter) Recommend close by Goulding's Lodge, 2 mi. off US 163 and Goulding's Jct. All services and a bit of history. The lodge is perched on a side bluff which affords a nice area view. It overlooks a small airport where, at least at one time, provided light fixed wing aircraft flights over the Valley. Marnie, I don't mind the crop, but I think the wires is a matter of resolution. Do you have a 2000x3000 pix. Can you see individual wires there? Do they get fuzzy as you resize this picture? Bruce, Like everybody says, #2 is better. I like the way you were able to improve based on the suggestions on the first pix. Foreground grasses focused. Less of the harsh sky. Less confusion in the middle... clearer central tree. More symeric composition, side side. Very nice, now if I could only learn to improve like this... Regards, Bob S.
