Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] UK/Ireland radio directory: RadioFeeds UK Ireland now available for testing
Hi Vinnie, Just logged in to say Radiofeeds is an excellent plugin and you support it well too! I mainly listen to my own music but now and again I put the radiofeeds on. I like it because I can now listen to radio stations in the uk that I wouldn't be able to hear on normal radio, and I don't like listening at my pc. I wanted radiofeeds so that I could listen to a radio program on afan.fm on sunday afternoons from my sb which I can now do. I like the fact that it covers lots of Uk/Ireland feeds so all the labourious searching for URL's isn't necessary anymore. It sounds like the LastFM tagger is being clever and splitting your tags. I believe it's possible to configure SqueezeCentre to do the same, although I'm not sure that the end result in SqueezeScrobbler would be quite correct yet. I am working on a very similar issue relating to splitting Artist names right now and will check the genre behaviour as well. James NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [PoC] 3D Album Browser (Windows)
Aguida;284240 Wrote: In this respect it would not be very important whether artists or genres are represented by pictures or just names as much as that it should be easy and fast to include or exclude them in the filter. You're absolutely right; ease-of-use and seek-time are primary factors in a music-browsing interface. My explorations in using 3D visualisations are to understand what could enhance these factors (or at the very least not compromise them). If a traditional 2D list works best for certain views then that's fine, we could even decide that a MCE 2005 clone (screenshots 'here' (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/mce-2005/mce-2005-main-menu-screen2.jpg) and 'here' (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/mce-2005/mce-2005-my-music2.jpg) for those who haven't seen it) is all that's needed, but it's nice to explore alternatives. For what it's worth, I find the MCE album art browser difficult to work with via the MCE remote because it requires you to use navigation buttons on both axes. Personally I think any browsing interface should stick to one axis. I should mention that I'm a usability fanatic (certified, no less) and take things like affordance and time-on-task to heart. Here's my take of the situation, based on my own experiences and the comments in this post so far:- - There is a potential space in the Squeezebox setup for a simplified UI focused on being easy to use (particularly for non-owners such as house guests) and non-destructive (e.g. cannot accidentally wipe out the current playlist). - There is a perceived demand for a 10ft UI, one that can be displayed on a TV and controlled via a remote control. Integration with Media Center would be nice. - A UI that has a certain wow-factor (i.e. impress-ya-friends) could be beneficial, especially with the emergence of highly stylised products such as 'Sooloos' (http://www.sooloos.com). I would love to hear what other people's opinions are on this, especially around the validity and demand for these requirements. -- simbo simbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11481 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on Linux not playing
I have good and bad news: the good news is that I have found and fixed one of the (my) problems. (The bad news is that there is more than one problem!) The AlienBBC script mplayer.sh was causing problems because, depending upon how squeezecenter starts up, the (path to the) mplayer executable is not found. On my system (and looking at the script, most likely others too) as it stands $app is simply left resolved as mplayer. Its full path is /usr/local/bin/mplayer. The problem is that /usr/local/bin may, or may not, be on the path - possibly complicated by it running as user squeezecenter too. This was the explanation for the curious behaviour where, if I did a squeezecenter restart all of a sudden things seemed to start working. I have modified the mplayer.sh script, a copy is attached. On the basis of very limited testing, this gets me back to this situation (which probably makes more sense to bpa): - I can run squeezecenter from the command line or as a background daemon and the behaviour exhibited is the same; - the Duet controller/receiver so far works fine playing AlienBBC streams; - Softsqueeze starts off alright, but seemingly at random it is still possible to hit the 'stream not playing' problem as described. Since my main target was to get the Duet working properly, there will probably be a pause in my investigations of the softsqueeze problems - I may get a chance to look at the weekend. +---+ |Filename: mplayer_sh.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4702| +---+ -- chris_x chris_x's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16025 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45384 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Users put mplayer in different directories for different distros. It is hard to get a message to the user. Any error message from mplayer.sh that mplayer could not be found will only appear if a user is running SC from a shell prompt and not as a daemon. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SC7: AlienBBC - Podcasts - unsupported format
Tne radio streams go via Mplayer don't they? No they don't. MP3 stream go direct from source to the player - Squeezecenter will do nothing unless proxied has been selected for the player. Mplayer is only used for those format which are not supported by SB such as RealAudio and AACplus ( and WMA in the case of Softsqueeze with a Linux host). However, again I never had this problem on SS6.5/SSq3.4 and could mess with BBC streams without any need to 'poke' the system to make it go! Agreed but there has been a *lot* of code changes in both SC and in Softsqueeze (sync code) - perhaps there is now an issue in startup. Going forward, Softsqueeze will have to be maintained as a community project and not a Slim project. Enable/disable different filetypes and look what is happening. If you are on Windows use Process Explorer to see what subprocesses are created and look at their command lines. Are the various Perl scripts involved in the plugins themselves processing/piping stream/audio data, or are they only constructing command lines for and starting other processes - eg Mplayer? Generally no processing once stream has started except perhaps for displaying metadata such as song info or handling skip ffwd/rewd. The plugins mainly just find the url to be played and after that the filetype and convert conf files take over. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45301 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

What it says? I'm running Beta (7.03 I think) and the configuration screen won't install. I see the option on the plugins page but when I select the configuration option I get a 'page not found' error. I'm sorry but the log shows that you have a seriously sick system - AlienBBC not working is the least of your worries. Since these message comes from different days, it is not clear what is current - when did you do the SC re-install. Can you delete the server.log file when SC is stopped and then start SC. That way it will be become clearer whether the errors in the log file are still present or have been fxied with the last re-install. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45298 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Oh dear But thanks for the analysis. I attach a log file with just the entries relating to my signing on this evening. This is my only known system problem at the moment (touch wood) and I have all the normal protection all of which is up-to-date and I scan regularly. I will wait for your views from the new log file. My inclination is to completely remove SC run Crap Cleaner on the registry files. and re-install SC run the logs post them on this thread for your views with your permission. Then reinstall AlienBBC. I have only used SN since upgrading and that has been fine. I havent tried to connect to the internet via SC on the SB. I will try that once I do the reinstall tomorrow. +---+ |Filename: juniperlog2.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4717| +---+ -- juniper SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt juniper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45298 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC cant run it with SC 7
OK - I overeacted to the previous log. I think the SC re-install has cleared all some of the previous errors. You do not seem to have any DNS, Database or MusicIP errors in the latest log. The missing directories message are not missing just log messages I had not seen before because you still have enabled os.paths. I think the Web browser authorisation error may be due to an attempt to repost the missing AlienBBC basic.html - reposting in another web window will cause the authorisation error. So there may not be a need to re-install again as long as the log remains clear. The missing AlienBBC menus on the SB points to a failed AlienBBC initialisation so I think some more logging needs to be enabled for SC startup. 1. Start SC 2. In Setting/Advanced Logging set the following to plugin.alienbbc to DEBUG server to INFO server.plugins to INFO 3. Check the box Save logging setting for use at next application start 4. Click apply 5. Stop SC and delete server.log file. 6. Start SC 7. Select AlienBBC from the Settings/Advanced/Logging drop down menu 8. Stop SC 9. Copy log into a text file. Zip the texst file and attached to a post. When you next see the 404 message - what is the complete URL in the browser URL box. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45298 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Help needed with shutdown.pm for SC
daz, the only thing I can think of is that the whole PowerCtrl directory has to be in the Plugins directory, so in Plugins I have two directories - LazySearch2 and PowerCtrl. After moving the PowerCtrl directory in I stopped Squeezecentre and then started it. In Squeezecentre - Settings, Plugins I have Server Power Control with a ticked box in front of it - then using the remote, in E Extras, it is 13 of 15. Edit - I have not enabled Hibernate, so the Hibernate option sends the server to Sleep instead. -- Wirrunna A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugins not working with 7.0 and Mac OS 10.5
I just upgraded from 6.5 to 7.0. I can no longer get lazysearch or xmradio plugins to work. There is no squeezecenter directory on the Mac; I still have the slimdevices directory. I was careful to download new versions of the plug-ins but they are not working. The documentation says the plugins should go at Home Library Application Support SqueezeCenter Plugins but there is no SqueezeCenter (or SlimDevices) directory there; the install all seemed to happen in Users Peter Library Slimdevices. I put the plugins in the Plugins directory here but no joy. I am not a power Apple user so it's probable I'm doing something very silly wrong. Any suggestions? And if there's nothing obvious, can someone tell me how I uninstall 7.0 so I can try a clean installation to see if that helps?
