[SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose

Kind of a flaw in Moose with playlists. You can't open one to see
what's in it without playing it. It would be nice to be able to open
it to remind you what's in it before sending it to the player.

Hi,

I tried the "Radio Station Timeout" without luck. However, the keyword
"Network" helped! It appears that when I installed the SqueezeCenter
software, it picked up my network proxy settings I use when browsing
the internet from work. These setting are not necessary when I'm at
home, and after removing them, everything is working fine:)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry for the delayed response.

Those warnings are normal -- ironically, they're there because of a bug
I opened. :-)

Are you using your heyu binary, or the one that PowerCenter ships with?
Does the SqueezeCenter user have RW permissions on the serial device? Is
there already/always a heyu app (heyu_relay?) running on your system?

OK, I decided to try for the suggested stable version... It works so
far (only one song attempted!)
I added the line with the line:
$iTunesLoc = Slim::Utils::Unicode::recomposeUnicode($iTunesLoc);

Here's where I put it (which may not be the best, but seems to work):

# modify iTunesLoc to match the location string
$iTunesLoc =~ s/^alias "[^:]*:(.*)"$/$1/;
$iTunesLoc =~ tr/:/\//;

#OSX iTunes seems to store some accented characters as 2
characters
#this function should recombine them
$iTunesLoc =

if ($prefs->get('ignore_filetype')){

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC addon to read iPlayer menus

2008-08-04 Thread bpa

There is an iPlayer Addon for 6.5.x attached to post 29. It is really
intended for those users who cannot upgrade to 7.0 typically low
powered NAS.

However the current Addon is a stopgap until BBC get their proper API
working which will break the link to web site design. It is unlikely
that the Addon built on the API will be available for AlienBBC 1.06
(i.e. SS 6.x)

WeatherTime is processing this XML document for your location:

http://api.wunderground.com/auto/wui/geo/ForecastXML/index.xml?query=Kerkrade,NL

I do see chance of precipitation data (pop element) but apperently no
wind. Hint: WeatherTime needs to be re-activated (leave and re-enter

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC addon to read iPlayer menus

2008-08-04 Thread bpa

SC is very good at caching URLs and the result screen after parsing an
URL. So if you replaced v2 by v3 and restarted SC within 300 secs (I
thinks) of selecting the "Arthur Strong" programme - you will get the
cached v2 response even though the v3 code is installed !

I didn't update the first page note as there are two small bugs in v3
that need to be fixed and I had hoped to have updated it by now.

Not sure What you mean about the playing bit and the "drag facility".
Did it work or not ?

Edit: Double checked after images was attached - still don't get "click
here" with v3.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is there an "auto power off" plugin?

2008-08-04 Thread gharris999

I've been using PowerSave for over a year now and it's worked very well
for me. In conjunction with peterw's PowerCenter plugin, this combo
reliably turns off my big power amps (via an X10 appliance module) when
my transporter has been idle for 15 minutes or more.

Staring at my monitor in a stupor, reading some hysterical left-leaning
political blog or another, and then hearing the amps click off after
I've failed to notice that my playlist ran out long ago makes me feel
very green and virtuous.

If Jason were to appropriate my SrvrPowerCtrl plugin code (for which he
has my full permission) and add it to PowerSave you'd have exactly what
you're looking for.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Bookmark plugin not restoring

2008-08-04 Thread gw0udm

Hi

I've had KDF's bookmark plugin running fine on an ancient Ubuntu
server, but having upgraded it to Hardy Heron recently I've had a
strange problem with the plugin.

Squeezecenter is running fine, and all the various features work.
However, when I try to use the plug whilst it seems to save the
bookmark correctly when you go to restore it playback stops, and on
checking it remains in the same place.

The prefs file seems to be being created properly, and I can see the
offset etc recorded in there. I've tried purging and reinstalling
everything but it makes no difference. I've also tried disabling
AppArmor given some of the known problems, but again it doesn't make
any difference.

I'd be really grateful for any pointers - it's driving me crazy, and I
find the bookmarks extremely useful!

Thanks in advance

James

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Is there any particular feature in ExtendedAlarm which results in that
you can't use the standard Alarm handling in SqueezeCenter ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC terrible stuttering

2008-08-04 Thread bpa

AlienBBC converts a 64kbps RealAudio stream into a 1500kbps Flac stream.
All internet radio etc (including iPlayer to laptop) are slow speed
typically at most for audio 192kbps so your network speed of 256kbps
would never show this problems.

The white noise is because you have installed lame incorrectly or there
is a wrong setting.

Where next.
1. Get the lame settings right.
2. You should sort your network out - first by identifying the source
of the problem.

Thanks for your reply. Several months ago I had no problems with my
Alien BBC set up -unfortunately I can't remember when or what may have
triggered its failure. But to answer you -no to all your 'are you
using' questions. Router is Sky's own about 5 years old (?) based on
Netgear DG834GT -it used to work and in all other respects still does.
On my Laptop sited near the SB3 I have no problems with BBC iPlayer
(video & sound) or BBC Listen Again -so why are my SB 3's being so
'picky'?
Following your instructions to disable Flac & WAV produces only 'white
noise' and full vu readings on BBC, -music library and other streams
work fine.
Fiddling with the SC LAME settings/limits has no effect -'settings'
acknowledges its presence.
Is Firmware V.101 of any relevance?
I'm away tomorrow for a couple of days, but would like to continue if
you are willing to provide more pointers/tests (not just for my
benefit).
Many thanks for your time and trouble thus far -but where next?

Better yet, "switch Squeezebox to SqueezeNetwork after X minutes of

Thanks.

I had Trackstat 2.2 installed and working fine on SC 7.1. I have
multiple backups in the same "exact" folder. The last backup is dated
07/29 the day I switched to SC 7.2. (SC 7.1 officially announced) I
didn't have any errors in the server log with SC 7.2 and TS 2.2.
Yesterday, when I switched to TrackStat 2.2.1 the log messages started
to appear. So, I suspect 2.2.1 is the issue.

I'm not running any other plug-ins. I have a laptop with XP. I will
install on that and see if the problem goes away. At least that will
narrow it down, or not, to a Vista specific error.

I fixed the above by editing line 536 in plugin.pm from
AreAnyPlayersPlaying to AnyPlayersPlaying.

Now when I click on shutdown etc on my duet remote it says 'shutting
down in 15 seconds, press centre to abort', but the server doesn't shut
down.

If I select a shut/suspend to squeezenetwork option, the same happens
(but the receiver does change over to squeezenetwork).

Any ideas why my server wont shut down?

Did you use TrackStat before the upgrade ? Did it work before ?
The possible problems are:
- The / character as you have noted (this should be fixed in a future
release)
- The space character, check if it works if you don't have a space in
the directory name
- Are you sure SqueezeCenter has write permission to the directory ?

Which version of TrackStat and SqueezeCenter did you use before the
upgrade when it worked ?

These errors can be ignored, they are there to make the plugin
compatible with both 7.0 and 7.1.

If you don't get it to work directly, it might not be worth the trouble
since there will be official support for this in Dynamic Playlist when

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC terrible stuttering

2008-08-04 Thread bpa

The default is to transcode RealAudio into Flac.
Flac requires about 1500kbps @ 100% to play.

Your max reliable connection speed of 256kbps is very poor even with a
wired connection so something is very wrong - either reading the test
results, your PC, your network interfaces, cables or the router (is it
very old ?). Are you using Homeplug, hubs, bridges, usb adaptors ?

As a stopgap I suggest you disable the RTSP->Flac and RTSP->WAV
filetype (see Settings/Advanced/ File Types) and then RTSP->MP3 will be
used which should work with your slow network.

As a benchmark - my wired connection PC-SB3 delivers 3000kbps @ 100%.

didn't collect your message 'til this morning. No idea why I was
double posted.
Q1. BBC stutters on both Live & Listen Again (This is the stream I
want)
Q2. Network test reports 100% solid at only(?) 256kbps -high 90's at
320kpbs, falls away fairly quickly thereafter. Same result when tested
on short LAN cable directly to router.

Are my concerns with LAME & Mplayer red-herrings? Music library
recorded as .ogg files -plays perfectly; other radio streams, obviously
not the same as BBC, but unknown format plays just fine. (Alas no great
desire to listen to American radio!)

Hopefully this won't appear twice..

Thanks.
