Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime stopped working ?

I'm going to focus my energy on getting the 7.4 version happy, once
it's in a good state I might post a minor 7.3 update but it wont be all
 inclusive.

 -Greg
Well, I´d appreciate that very much. Theres no need for all the new
features, just if it keeps reading weather.com would make me happy,
too.
And - not that Im in any anti 7.4 movement, but I´m running SC on a
QNAP NAS, its an old ts109 with not much RAM and its working fine with
7.3.
I have heard lots of problems with the new SSOTS which is needed there
to install 7.4 or 7.5 and lots of other problems also (no hdd spindown
and worst: Audio-Playback on Controller tends to stutter! which it does
not with 7.3).
Thats why I dont wanna change until this problems are solved.

And now I tried out the trick with updating plugin.pm as others did
successfully:
Problems:
1. Superdatetime was not to be found in Squeezecenter/Plugins
instead I found it in Squeezecenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins

2. .par file not easily to decode.
used 7Zip, worked

3. plugin.pm: I didnt know with which charset it shoud be encoded
I left it as ANSI
(custom-strings.txt files in ANSI used to crash my SC!!!)
well: it worked.

4. Then I didnt know how to uninstall.
I did it via Config-Page, stopping, restarting, stopping and then
manually deleting the superdatetime directory in the above mentioned
dir.

5. then I didnt know where to install
Squeezecenter/Plugins ? or above mentioned Dir?
I tried the first, hoping it would move itself to above Dir, if
needed.
well, it worked, did not move to cache/...

6.felt tempereature didnt work (-17degrees)
found BoomX2 s posting, integrated that, too
hooray, worked again!

what do I want to say with that text?
it works, but its complicated for non-techies(like I am) to get it
running.

best regards!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Open Last.fm links in SqueezeBox

2010-01-25 Thread rclaasen

To all interested: I wrote a small app that enables you to open Last.fm
(lastfm://) links directly in your SqueezeBox player. Take a look at
code.google.com/p/lastfmsqueezeboxbridge/.

For the moment, this is a Windows-only app. The .Net 2.0 Framework is
required. Feedback is more than welcome!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SDT install question ( should I unzip Plugins-SuperDateTime-Plugin.par file)

2010-01-25 Thread Steve Baumgarten
Normally you don't unzip the par file as part of installation. If you
want to replace the existing Plugin.pm file with the modified one you
downloaded, I recommend unzipping the .par file (preserving the
directory structure), replacing the Plugin.pm file in the correct place
(lib/Plugins/SuperDateTime/Plugin.pm), and then re-zipping the .par
file, again preserving the directory structure. Finally, restart SBS.

For what it's worth, if you use the excellent (and free) 7zip utility, you
can directly open the .par file and drag/drop a replacement Plugin.pm
right into it, overwriting the existing one. Fast and foolproof.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster - Suggestion

2010-01-25 Thread chrism

I have got the IR Blaster plug in working nicely from my squeezebox 3
(classic) connected via a wired connection to my Yamaha RX-V653 amp.

I have thought of an idea.

The plug in will currently transmit a number of IR commands in response
to a player event, i.e. power on, power off, vol+, vol- etc. It will
also repeat IR received through its IR receiver. The commands I am
transmitting were decoded from a downloaded pronto CCF.

What would be nice is to combine the two - receive an arbitary IR
signal through its receiver and in response issue one or more arbitary
commands through its headphone socket.

This would allow me (for example) to press power-on on my DVD remote
and in response, the SB to issue an amp on, amp input select, tv input
select and dvd on command. True macro functionality using supplied
remotes and my squeezebox for not a lot of money!

Thoughts?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Use remote control to control Linux

2010-01-25 Thread akennedy

it's hooked into Xorg using xautomation (xte) and it working great.

You were right about the repeat issue, even while going up and down
through menus I was being blocked by it.

You had it set to 2.5 seconds, I pulled that down to 0.05 or something
like that (0.0 seconds was rapid fire...)

In terms of security, you're right about the url attack angle.
Maybe just block kidsplayexec from being activated by url? (not sure if
that's even possible)

This even works when the squeezebox is off which is great; even while
the squeezebox is in use, the JVC DVD remote commands are processed
properly and does not affect the playback. Completely transparent.

I have created a simple bash script which is called by KidsPlay.
It's quick and dirty and needs some finesse work but it's working.

I could have skipped the bash script and had KidsPlay execute the xte
commands directly, but I wanted the extra abstraction layer.

In case anyone is interested here is the script.

Code:

  #!/bin/bash

  case $1 in
  up)
  xte -x :0.0 key Up
  ;;

  down)
  xte -x :0.0 key Down
  ;;

  left)
  xte -x :0.0 key Left
  ;;

  right)
  xte -x :0.0 key Right
  ;;

  play)
  xte -x :0.0 key Return
  ;;

  return)
  xte -x :0.0 key Return
  ;;

  escape)
  xte -x :0.0 key Escape
  ;;
  *)
  echo $Usage: $0 {right|left|up|down}
  exit 1

  esac

[SlimDevices: Plugins] FHEM temperature set/display plugin

2010-01-25 Thread chrism

I have a number of thermostatic radiator valves controlled by the FHT
thermostats available in various guises from conrad-uk.com (FS20) and
previously from HouseTech UK (HouseHeat).

I am controlling these using FHEM installed on the same box as my

I have written a simple plug-in to query FHEM and display the
temperatures and set points for the rooms in my house. Future
developments are to include the ability to set the desired temperature
through my squeezebox 3 (classic).

Is anyone else interested in this?

No, and as far as I know, no. However, it gets a little complicated
because since developing IR Blaster, the author (Felix Mueller) has been
hired by Logitech as a developer.

Well they can't really veto third party plugins to an open source
server.

The plugin is from Gwendesign, but I think that is Felix who is now an
employee of Slim / Logitech. Again the plug in is open source licensed.

Logitech could stop it by removing the 'Geekport' feature in the
Squeezefirmware which I think is used for the IRBlaster, but I doubt
they would.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster - Suggestion

2010-01-25 Thread chrism

Ah, if the developer has been hired by Logitech that changes things a
little.

Technically, it is not treading on their toes completely because the
harmony range go much further. With my suggestion, I would still need
the original remotes supplied with my components, I would just be using
the SB to cause more things to happen with a single key press.

i.e. I would use my DVD remote to issue a DVD power on code. The
squeezebox would see this and in return issue amp on and amp input
select codes. Ultimately I would love a harmony remote, but the minister
for interior affairs/scrutineer of the joint bank account can't see the
benefit. :-(

If the plug in is open source, then I might have a dig about in it
myself. I have a little Perl experience, but little plug-in experience.

Could the firewall on the PC running Softsqueeze be blocking receipt
and/or transmission of broadcast packets ?

Can you get the firewall log and see if any packets are being blocked ?

You can turn on your server logging network.protocol to DEBUG and then
start Softsqueeze.

When Softsqueeze starts up - it broadcasts a Discovery message which
should appear in the Server log as follows:

Code:

  [10-01-25 15:30:39.3749] Slim::Networking::Discovery::gotDiscoveryRequest

If no Discovery message then PC which is running Softsqueeze is
blocking outgoing broadcast as I assume your server PC can receive
Discovery requests from your other players as you can see your SBS
server name on the player display (i.e. you did not enter address
manually).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TitleSwitcher and MusicInfoScreen on squeezeboxserver 7.4

2010-01-25 Thread chris . mason

Forgive me for hijacking this thread, but I'm trying to do exactly what
the OP (dip) has done, but I can't understand how to set this up.

What I would like to do is display TITLE (ARTIST) then switch to
CONDUCTOR (COMPOSER) or something like that.

I can't get my head around what I'm supposed to set up where to get
this to work. Could someone (Erland perhaps) give me some pointers on
how to do this?

From what I can see, in Titleswitcher setup you can switch between
single formats, such as ARTIST or TITLE, rather than groups of them.

TIA!
Chris.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Napster not streaming some albums ?

2010-01-25 Thread darbyweb

Apologies if this has been asked before - i've searched and couldnt see
an answer.

Napster is working great on my Duets, except i keep finding albums that
dont stream.

This weekend i find NO albums by the Lostprophets play - though they do
in the Napster webbrowser. One single played but no albums. Also Now
Thats What i Call Music 74 doesnt play on Duet.

I dont get any errors, just when i select a track the screen jumps to
right a little bit and then back again.

Can anyone else confirm that they have the same issues with these
albums, and if possible why this is happening ??

Was really looking forward to listening to the new 'prophets album

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2010-01-25 Thread jasell

Hi,

I'm running the plugin.pm, date is updating now!
I'm just curious about the first two time period after Current. They
are now named 2 AM 6 AM, instead om Morning etc.

I liked it better the way it was before, in Europe we mostly prefer
military clock readings (21:03), we always have a hard time with AM/PM.

 how to do this?

From what I can see, in Titleswitcher setup you can switch between
single formats, such as ARTIST or TITLE, rather than groups of them.

I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, so let me know if it doesn't
work.

I think you should setup in Title Switcher settings something like:
TITLECONDUCTOR=TITLE:5,CONDUCTOR:5
ARTISTCOMPOSER=ARTIST:5,COMPOSER:5

In SBS settings, you setup a title format:
TITLESWITCHERTITLECONDUCTOR (TITLESWITCHERARTISTCOMPOSER)

And then in Music Information Screen, you also select to display:
TITLESWITCHERTITLECONDUCTOR (TITLESWITCHERARTISTCOMPOSER)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TitleSwitcher and MusicInfoScreen on squeezeboxserver 7.4

2010-01-25 Thread chris . mason

Thanks for such a prompt reply Erland.

I've just tried giving this a go, and the problem I'm having is that if
I put in a title format such as CONDUCTOR or COMPOSER in TitleSwitcher,
they get rejected with the error Invalid format.

I've tested that CONDUCTOR and COMPOSER can be used by SBS by
specifying them as usable formats for the UI. Is there anything I
should be doing to enable Titleswitcher to recognise them?

As a side note, if I put in TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, they all work fine.

Chunkywizard;510205 Wrote:

I'm current trying to persuade Frank to incorporate iTunes Album
ratings into Album Creator Catalog. I believe you support this already
(it's an option in the Custom Scan module to use it to rate unrated
tracks). Can you let me and Frank know what table it is stored in in
 SBS?

It's not imported separately, the logic is as follow:
1. If a Rating tag exists in iTunes XML it is used
2. If not, it looks for a Album Rating tag in iTunes XML and use it
if it exists
3. If not, it looks for a Album Rating Computed tag in iTunes XML and
use it if it exists

There is a setting in the iTunes Statistics Import import module
where you can select if 2 and 3 should be activated or not.

So it's stored in track_statistics table in the same place as the track
rating would have been stored.

I'm guessing that you would have liked the album rating separately
which isn't the case at the moment, TrackStat and SBS only handles
ratings on tracks.

I think it should work to click the + button on the SBC if you are

If you are using 7.3 or earlier you need to hold down the play button
for a while.

Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll find my SBC and try it, there
might be some bug since I don't use this functionality much myself

and in response, the SB to issue an amp on, amp input select, tv input
select and dvd on command. True macro functionality using supplied
remotes and my squeezebox for not a lot of money!

 Thoughts?

IR Blaster 5.4 defines an 'irblaster' 'send' CLI command. If you can
program your remote to send JVC DVD codes, then you many be able to set
this up without writing a single line of Perl code. Use KidsPlay to map
specific JVC DVD IR codes to sequences of 'irblaster' 'send' CLI
commands. The usage for 'irblaster send' is
Code:

irblaster send device button

but I'm not sure what those values should look like. To find out, set
IRBlaster logging to debug and send the commands. The value for device
is the remoteName in the log's IRBlastSend entry (the button value is
labeled button in an IRBlastSend log entry).

Both your assumptions are wrong.

Inguz does not disable REW/FF, however there will be a few seconds

Inguz can be active for indivudual players based om MAC adress. It is
controlled from the file types menu. Only choose the InguzDSP file types
