I've realised that I had turned volume levelling off. Turning it back on brings the loud distorted sound back for 24bit. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Busy weekend. Looks like we have some moving goal posts and to a large degree this seems to be solved. I sat down today to do some thorough testing and provide logs as you suggested. Before starting I noticed a firmware update had become available in the last couple of days for my receiver so I downloaded and applied it. This certainly seems to have had some effect. I'd also be interested to know if you've made any changes in the last few days to the bridge that may have had an impact? After applying the update, I thought I'd systematically try all the available settings and gather logs for each. I've set up a little playlist that covers most audio types in my library and ran this playlist with each setting. Details of the playlist are as follows: Track 1: ALAC 44.1/16 Track 2: ALAC 48/24 Track 3: ALAC 192/24 Track 4: MP3 Track 5: AAC Below, in order are the results I found: Supported codecs: pcm PCM format: raw 24 bits PCM: plain 24 bits Result: 24bit fails to play, 16 bit plays, mp3 won't play, AAC plays Log: https://pastebin.com/JRUEE5hf Supported codecs: pcm PCM format: raw 24 bits PCM: packed type 1 Result: 24bit fails to play, 16 bit plays, mp3 won't play, AAC plays Log: https://pastebin.com/Zz4M87AU Supported codecs: pcm PCM format: raw 24 bits PCM: 16 bits always Result: 16bit ALAC plays fine, 48/24 recognised as 48/16 plays fine, 192/24 recognised as 44.1/16 plays REALLY slow, mp3 won't play, AAC plays fine Log: https://pastebin.com/FrTJtPNA Supported codecs: pcm PCM format: raw 24 bits PCM: 16 bits raw only Result: 16bit ALAC plays fine, 48/24 recognised as 48/16 plays fine, 192/24 recognised as 44.1/16 plays REALLY slow, mp3 won't play, AAC plays fine Log: https://pastebin.com/5VX1bqVC Supported codecs: pcm PCM format: wav 24 bits PCM: plain 24 bits Result: 24bit plays and recognised as 24bit, 16 bit plays, mp3 won't play, AAC plays Log: https://pastebin.com/B4T9Fz1h These results a quite different to what I was experiencing a week ago and there's no sign of the original problem, so I'm not sure how much can be attributed to the firmware update or any changes in the bridge. Once I achieved the (mostly) working version, I've left it at that and will see how that goes for a while. You mentioned previously that using wav introduced other potential problems. I'd be interested to know what they are so I can decide whether this is worth pursuing further. At this stage, it seems the only outstanding issue is non-playing of mp3 any obvious fixes for that? BTW as an aside, I had great difficulty getting a complete log. It always seemed to get truncated despite what I entered for the max size setting. We co-incidentally changed internet service providers (for other reasons), which in itself made no difference, but 3 days later when their new modem arrived and was hooked up Spotty started working again. Mystery for me is that with the old modem I tried two machines running LMS and Spotty, both connected by LAN (a PC laptop, and the pi3) and only the PC Spotty worked. New modem, and they both work. My knowledge of networking is not great enough for me to understand why the pi was blocked, especially when it had been working with the same modem some months before. That's all perfectly normal for a pi3, my green lights flash too, and they are just players. By default, the green light is showing activity on the microsd port.. but it is just activitynot necessarily a read or a write. To narrow down the issue I concentrated just on trying to get Flac working: 1) UPnP Renderer / Server - HQPlayer Embedded from 'Signalyst' (https://www.signalyst.com/). If you are interested you can download 'HQPe' (https://www.signalyst.eu/bins/hqplayerd/), if you leverage the image version everything is preconfigured and you have 30 minutes to test per restart of the application and continue to use that for 30 days. 2) The attached image has information on various combination that I tried and all of them were unsuccessful. I do not see any entries in the HQPlayer logs and in the LMS logs I am seeing "[18-06-18 20:12:38.6084] Slim::Player::Squeezebox2::statHandler (150) Error: bb:bb:c4:94:b3:b8: Decoder does not support file format, code 0"25198 3) Attached logs from each instances. +---+ |Filename: upnpbridge-log-hqplayerd-20180618-04.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25202| +---+ shadowlight's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66327 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103728 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] What Was That Tune? plugin
Hi Michael. I just discovered this plugin after asking for such a tool in another thread. Very nice. May I suggest a couple of display enhancements? I'm guessing you've just used standard tools to have the output displayed similarly to everything else in the web UI. But it would be nice to have: - Display the album name. Maybe as an option if that isn't desirable by everyone. - An option to force the display of the output in text-only rather than using the current artwork setting. Makes it much easier to scan visually. - And this may go back to an earlier discussion about track lists, but it would be nice to have the individual lines broken into links to the track, artist and album rather than being glommed into just a track link. I de-activated all other plugins, btw, and it's still happening, which supports that theory. One question, based on your log review: Do you know if the Spotty plugin has executed any code at the time that the squeezebox hangs or is the hang happening prior to any Spotty code executing...that would be nice to know. I don't know of a way to do it within LMS, but I have a dedicated TEMP directory on my music drive that I use primarily for exactly that. I download the file and play from there. I started doing that years ago due to the same problem you're having: Podcasts would just stop. I primarily listen to Coverville and assumed the problem was on their end, but I never seriously investigated. atrocity's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16009 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109150 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

It seems like the Aura does not support UPnP Gapless (see option in plugin settings). But a log would help. Re Chromecast, does it work well with local files? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)
Hello, I'm using the UPnPBridge plugin with a Harman Kardon Aura Speaker and it will only play one song from my personal collection (Flac files). I checked the player settings its set to play more than just one song. Double checked my Ipeng app settings and everything looks normal. After it plays the first song it looks to keep playing but the next song never starts. This is also happening with Pandora and Slacker. Right now I just have the UPnPBridge settings set to the defaults. Also, having a similar issue with the Chromecast plugin with the internet radio apps. The Chromecast audio player will play one or two songs and just stop, but it appears to just keep playing. Any assistance would be apprecated. Not sure if this might be an network issue or something else. Which ports does Connect use on the local network. Maybe I'll try to open those explicitly? TBH: I don't know... but some googling makes me think it could be 4070. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I do have an extender, through which 2 of the players are connected, but at least one is just connected by cable directly to the main router, so I don't think it's a subnet issue, and do are the clients, at least sometimes. mherger wrote: > > Did you try the Windows Spotify application from > the same computer as you run LMS on? Ah, this I hadn't though of and... it works. I see all the platers from a Spotify client on the LMS machine. Hmm, so I guess this is some network issue in the end. I just run the Windows firewall on the server and no anti-virus. As I said, I did try disabling the firewall, but that didn't help. On the other hand, this is Windows Server rather than the standard client, so maybe there is some other stuff happening I don't know about... Which ports does Connect use on the local network. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.3.0 - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox
Problem: Spotify Connect players not visible on local network. And all the clients are connected to the same network? You're not running multiple sub-networks or the like? And the mobile clients aren't on the cell network? Did you try the Windows Spotify application from the same computer as you run LMS on? I switched off the firewall, but this did not help. What kind of firewall are you using? Windows' own only? Sometimes in the past (not related to Spotty) we were seeing issues with firewalls and antivirus systems even when they supposedly were turned off... Only un-installing them helped. I'm not saying that's the case here. But it's a possibility which wouldn't surprise me. I am including the log from installing the Spotty plugin, setting up the two users manually and turning on the players for connect. That log shows that the daemon is successfully started and not crashing. But it's shut down as soon as you enter credentials manually. -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
