Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: LMS Connect - streaming Tidal/Qobuz to LMS via native Android apps

2021-12-21 Thread RCST

Although I don't know the root cause, but everything is making sense
now. Definitely the auto discover logic of the app needs to be improved,
at least allow you to manually specify the server IP without crashing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: LMS Connect - streaming Tidal/Qobuz to LMS via native Android apps

2021-12-21 Thread agt

Hi again.
Unfortunately this remains murky for my Home server!

Per my previous post, all versions worked correctly on my LMS at my
Office location.
On getting home, all versions that support AutoScan crash when trying to
do this.
As AutoScan is on by default, this means the app crashes instantly on
initial attempt to load -if LMS is running-.
If I stop LMS on the server, I can disable AutoScan then set server
manually, but the process crashes when trying to share from Tidal, or on
reenabling the AutoScan toggle.
Logs attached - in case they help, and server details below
I can however use the original version which seems to work fine - though
I understand from the thread there have been other improvements.

Thanks again for your work!

Server info: both running openSUSE Tumbleweed on different vintage Intel
NUC - Home with the problem is older but not -ancient- hardware, and
started with older LMS now updated to latest.

*Office - works fine
*
*Home - crashes all versions with server discovery*

I'm not sure what you mean. What feature exactly is it that you are
disabling? If you need directions to enable debug logging for the plugin
in order to see what LMS commands are triggering the volume spike, let
me know.

It is tough to nail down, I am not really sure what the trigger is. I
think it happened just now while I was pulling up the tab within iOS
chrome with my LMS. Happens often enough that I have to disable the
feature.

Hi, great news that everything works!

I very methodically installed from oldest through to newsest, and they
ALL behaved fine.
Stranger still, when I opened the app on the Moto G4 play I had tested
yesterday and done nothing to change, it worked there too.

The only difference that makes any sense to me is that I'm doing this at
my office (which has its own LMS running). Will check when I get home
and update if anything of use.

Back to the main point though - this works and it's amazing, great work,
and many thanks.

Something just occurred to me. What kind of machine do you have and
exactly what type of sleep/hibernation is it going into? The reason I
ask is that some (new) devices go into "Modern Standby", and in that
case there is not a signal from the OS telling my app it is resuming
from standby. I am suspecting that is the case here, because otherwise
SLX should be sending WOL on resuming from sleep. With Modern Standby,
SLX never knows it went to sleep.

Following up to my own question, I’ve set HTTP mode to chunked, gapless
to no, and seek on resume to no. I’ve been streaming for over 12 hours
straight with zero problems. So (knock on wood), this appears to be
solved!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Music Similarity DSTM mixer

2021-12-21 Thread cpd73

This is an alpha release of a DSTM mixer that uses 'Musly'
(https://www.musly.org) to obtain 'similar' tracks, and then
(optionally) uses 'Essentia' (https://essentia.upf.edu/) to filter these
'similar' tracks by BPM, Key (using 'Camelot Wheell'
(https://mixedinkey.com/camelot-wheel/)), loudness, and (if tracks
analysed on Linux) other attributes (such as danceability,
aggressiveness, etc.).

There are two parts to this plugin:

- The DSTM plugin, which is a standard LMS Plugin -
  https://github.com/CDrummond/lms-musicsimilarity
- A python script (music-similarity) used to analyse music tracks,
create a 'similarity' database, and provide access to query track
similarity via a simple HTTP API -
  https://github.com/CDrummond/music-similarity

The 'music-similarity' script is used to analyse your tracks, and saves
its results to an SQLite database and a Musly 'jukebox' file. (This
'jukebox' is what Musly uses to compute similarities, and contains
binary data taken from the SQLite database. This jukebox can be created
'on the fly' but this can take sometime, hence a cached version is
written to, and read from, disk). Musly itself is *very* fast to analyse
tracks (by default it (my modified version) analyses the middle 2
minutes (starting no later than 3 1/2 minutes into track) of each
track). Essentia, however, is *much* slower. As a rough guide, using
both Musly and Essentia, my 7 year old i7, 8-core, SSD, laptop analyses
around 1140 tracks/hour.

Essentia is used to extract attributes of each track - its BPM, key, and
loudness. If Essentia has been compiled with Gaia/SVM (or Tensorflow) it
can also extract other attributes - such as danceability,
aggressiveness, etc. Supporting these extra attributes on non-Linux
systems will require rebuilding of Essentia. These attributes are stored
in the SQLite database, therefore the Essentia binary is only required
when analysing tracks and is not required when providing the similarity
service.

The script is run in anlysis mode via:

Code:

  ./music-similarity/music-similarity.py -a m -l DEBUG

Once your tracks have been analysed the script needs to be run in
'server' mode to allow the LMS plugin to query for similar tracks.

Code:

  ./music-similarity/music-similarity.py -l DEBUG

Further details may be found on the 'Music Similarity github page.'

I've uploaded an alpha release of the music-similarity analyser and API
server to my Google drive, and created a 0.0.3 release of the LMS
plugin. Links below:

- 'music-similarity-all-alpha1.zip'

All music-similarity files, apart from Essentia extractor, ffmpeg, and
ffprobe for windows. This is basically a 'release' snapshot of the
  github repo.
- 'music-similarity-linux-x86-64-alpha1.zip'

music-similarity for x86 Linux. Musly has been compiled on Fedora, but
should (not tested) work on other Linux distributions. Essentia
extractor binary supports extra attributes, and is taken from
  Roland0's LMS Essentia page.
- 'music-similarity-pi-alpha1.zip'

Cut down build for running the similarity API service on a Raspberry
Pi. This does not include the Essentia extractor, and the build of
Musly does not support analysing tracks.
- 'music-similarity-windows-alpha1.zip'

Windows version contains pre-built Musly library and a basic Essentia
extractor (taken from acousticbrainz.org). Musly uses the ffmpeg/libav
libraries to decode audio files. However, building this on Windows was
too much hassle. Therefore, the build of Musly in this ZIP uses the
commandline ffmpeg and ffprobe binaries (bundled in this ZIP) to
  decode audio files.
- 'LMS Music Similarity plugin'

This plugin can be installed manually, or you can install from my
  'repo'

Example configs are within each ZIP, these will need to be updated with
your specific paths. You can also define "Genre groups" in the LMS
plugin - so that only tracks from similar genres are used.

On my personal setup I analyse tracks on my Linux laptop (e.g. using 2)
and then copy the SQLite database and jukebox files to my Raspberry Pi4
- where LMS (using 5) and the similarity API server (using 3) run.

As this is a alpha release I fully expect there to be issues -
especially on the Windows side, as I'm a 100% Linux user and have not
fully tested this setup. However,

Now that I have dug into this properly I regret I have found a bug -
this is rather an edge case but nevertheless

2 albums in my Qobuz collection both titled Sunshine Superman and both
by Donovan - they are however different

36502

I tagged both as genre = Pop and they seemed to import OK but apparently
not

I also have a question arising from the fact I have 3 instances of LMS
all using the same library of files and all with OMLI enabled. Is there
any means of copying the genre replacement from one instance to another?
Is it just one new table in the database that could conceivably be
exported from one instance and imported to another?

Hi agt, please try the following version which has basic logging,
however this one requires permission to write to storages

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NUWmfPRTJ05fKeAKZSQknnZM2UW1gHzh/view?usp=sharing

Once you installed this version, if there is no prompt for enabling
"write storages" permission, you might need to manually enable it via
"App info". The log file is named "LMSConnectLog.txt" and located in the
"Download" folder.

Please paste the log content here, thanks.

I didn't set any specific language or loalisation and I did test it
working in both English and Chinese languages.

Here are a couple older builds:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fqWrBqDD7hkGQF-XIpPM0Ychc0SAgIDx/view?usp=sharing
(This is the version 1, which didn't do auto LMS server scan and only
create a share target)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XtFLg5fnX-0Cjc3YhJv-Pks5ZiGKbDkZ/view?usp=sharing
(v1.2)

By the way, what version is your LMS server and player?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS

2021-12-21 Thread philchillbill

Tip: The Material skin looks better on an Echo Show in so-called
-Desktop -mode (don't confuse this with Material's own Desktop/Mobile
paradigm — this is a separate Amazon term). You can set the Show to
default to this mode by going to

Settings --> Device Options --> Web Options --> Browser --> Browser
Settings --> Web Scaling and then select 'Off'

The Show can make fonts really large for viewing from across the room
but that's not always optimal when you are going to use touch controls.

It should be in the midday update.

I have not messed with those settings though, and everything was
enabled.
The option "File Format Conversion Setup --- Prefer native format
(decoding on the player) whenever possible" was enabled though.

Could you play with those options? Eg. disable Ogg direct? Then try a
long track again?
