Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Erland's Plug-ins, Large Collections, and Hardware Requirements
The point is if you are working with a relatively low-memory underpowered machine, a hardware upgrade (particularly, a memory upgrade) may yield substantial results in Custom Browse performance. Thanks. Yes, I got your point. Since I already have a Win XP PC with rater decent specs, a fairly large collection, Custom Browse, Custom Scan _and_ the performance issues you described I just wondered if switching to Linux could give a performance boost. vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96124 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
Thanks for the reply. LMS is run under Win XP. I do not think there is an automatic scan option and the autoscan plugin is not installed. I have set the scan timer to do a nightly scan. I executed the SQL query. I did as you said and installed the release version of Custom Scan (v.2.9-3834). I enabled logging. But now, after installing the release version of Custom Scan, the startup was fast, just a minute or so. And the scanning... messages are gone. All seems well. Thanks! Since the log file contains a lot of error messages, at least some seemingly related to you plugins, I attach it anyway. 13653 +---+ |Filename: Kopia av server.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13653| +---+ vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
I have done several reboots so it is possible I have behaved badly against LMS. Since I am streamlining my setup for performance reasons, I may just disable MultiLibrary which I do not normally use actively. Risking the CustomScan data that I have managed to get into the persistent database is in any case not an option. Although I cannot check at the moment, there should not be any run out of disc space problems. vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
I tried to streamline my LMS set up by disabling Custom Scan startup rescan refresh and the automatic rescan (one issue was that new data supposed to be scanned by Custom Scan such as album rating for newly added albums did not show up, maybe Custom Scan which is really slow never had a chance to finish between my nightly scans). But after a PC reboot LMS web UI (but not the Custom Scan settings page) still reports a Custom Scan running. Is that just some kind of display issue? I seem to remember installing a beta version of Custom Scan, I have v.3.0pre3832, that might be doing scans differently. How can I get the latest stable version back? I could not see any other version in the plugins page. I have also downgraded to 7.7.2 release LMS version. I still get long startup times although I have disabled TrackStat startup rescan refresh. The TrackStat version is 3.1.3829. vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezebox Win 7 Desktop Gadget No Longer Works
I have been using the Squeezebox Win 7 desktop gadget but now it has stopped working. The issue is that the settings in the gadget (info on the server to use) will no longer stick, they are gone as soon as I close the options window. I looked in the Windows Sidebar folder (C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar) and the settings info is stored in the Settings.ini file. It just seems that the gadget is no longer able to read from it. Other gadgets work. I suspect the recent Windows security update has changed something due to the newly discovered risks with using gadgets. OK. Aborting by pressing the red X now works. muso was using under 800 kB RAM. muso seemed not to respect the show desktop command (from the Windows task bar). After muso was sent to the background it was not possible to show the muso Windows again through alt+tab or the Windows task bar. Therefore I could not check the status of muso. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread
It worked with the 268 albums in my Blues genre. I guess the pivot viewer is some kind of touch screen interface and it takes some time to get used to it. One thing I noticed was that the thumbnails were very small when all 268 albums were shown. Zooming with the mouse scroll wheel helped, but when I selected an album by clicking on it and then deselected it by clicking on it again muso reverted to the initial view with all 268 albums, not the zoom state I came from. It is cool that the zooming goes on forever (using the mouse scroll wheel, not the thumbnail slider). Choosing the Freshness sort option repeated times shuffled some of the albums (they switched places). It looked kind of cool, but I wonder if that was intended. Oh, and I thought the Labels option would show the albums by record label but that is obviously not the case. Is there any now playing screen in pivot view? I could not find any. For me to consider an interface such as this for everyday use a now playing screen is a must, and information on contributing and supporting artists on a per track basis. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread
I thought I should try the new beta pivot viewer out with my rather large collection. The result was: 1. It took a very long time to build the collection and there was no cancel button or any way to build the collection in the background (like with synchronize where I can switch to other programs while muso is working). 2. In the process of building the collection muso hogged all available RAM and when it reached building the collection to 99% muso stopped working and was closed. I tried it twice with the same result. The second time muso started all over again although the previous run had built the collection to 99%. Some 149k tracks in 10k albums. I often have huge cover art, some as large as 4,000x4,000 - I aim for over 1,000x1,000. The red X to cancel did not work for me. Nothing happened when I tried. Maybe an easier way to switch to other programs when the collection is building (like showing the task bar)? I did not try ctrl+tab, but using other programs in my secondary window (without task bar or Windows button) worked. As I said, muso took all available memory, which I think was some 2GB RAM for muso alone when I checked. vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

One workaround would be to copy the data in our Artist field to a custom field, Artists perhaps, and the replace all ; with , in the Artist field. You can do this with MP3Tag and even use reg ex to replace he last ; with amp; for nicer display. On the now playing screen it is not possible to adjust the overall volume for a group of players while the multi player control is open; this is possible on the normal screen. 3. Yes I'd like to extend it to read as many standard tags as I can, maybe even some additional ad-hoc tags by configuration. I'll need a new attribute for ORGANIZATION/PUBLISHER/LABEL/call-it-what-you-will plus any more standard tags I need to support, plus browse-by options for each such new attribute. Here is the only standard I have heard of http://wiki.xiph.org/VorbisComment. If you support different comments for the same muso field, I think the standard field should win if there are conflicting values. The label/ORGANIZATION info should of course be visible on the album and now playing page. Should one album have different values, just pick one value to use for the entire album. I think some attributes do not need a browse by option, just to be visible in now playing and on a per album/track basis depending on the nature of the tag. 1. Muso is not showing artwork in the Albums view (the view with all albums showing thumbnails) for an album named , where the latter part of the path to the album folder is Justice\ (2007). A small red X is shown instead of the artwork. In the Album page (showing just that album) the artwork is shown. 2. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MUSO - Support Thread
This is almost certainly not a muso issue. That said, my guess is that you have in your music files both ID3v2 tags and ID3v1 tags. The latter have a limit on the length of the tag which the former do not have. To test/rectify use MP3Tag: 1. In MP3Tag settings (Mpeg) set MP3Tag to read/show all tag variants and to write ONLY ID3v2 tags and delete all tag types BUT ID3v2. Set MP3Tag to show a Tag column (I think it is there by default; the tag value should be %_tag_read%[ (%_tag%)]). 2. Add some mp3 files to MP3Tag (work on a copy of the files first just to see if it works) and see what the Tag column shows (probably both ID3v2.3 and ID3v1). 3. Select all files and first save all tags and the delete all tags. Now your music files should only contain the longer ID3v2 tags and the abbreviated version from the ID3v1 tags should never show up after a rescan in LMS and muso. Re-ripping with dBpoweramp to flac is always a good idea. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wired), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPhone 4 iPad, muso on remote computer running Win 7 64-bit | 7.1.2 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91575 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yes, having your music in flac is a good thing, and you get secure rips and good meta data from AMG with dBpoweramp. Although re-ripping can be a bit boring. I know since I have done it myself. A more complicated request would be to have muso automatically detect changes to the SBS database and doing a resync. More links to the artist, album and track (Wikipedia, AMG, MusicBrainz and Discogs) could also be useful (maybe even a browser window/tab within muso). erland;672936 Wrote: Is this something that could be of more general usage for more users ? In that case, maybe I should switch the jivepattern used in the standard menu templates ? Yes! That would be great. I think everyone can benefit from the standard CB menus having a uniform display for album and track lists, and an easy way for inexperienced users to adjust what is displayed on which line in a track list in iPeng. There are two things here: The album list and the file list. The album list is depending on the sql that produces the output string. Could the output be made consistent for all CB standard menus? For consistent display in iPeng the order must be Album Name - Artist/Composer - Year, unless you introduce a way to rearrange the captures. Or perhaps Pippin can consider displaying both the album name and year on the first line (I would love to be able to see also the year when in the two line album cover view). erland;672936 Wrote: Does it look good in IP3K interface (Classic, Boom, Transporter, SoftSqueeze) ? Does it look good in the web interface ? It does not matter to me since I do not use those interfaces any more, but I see your point. No, currently I would not say it looks good but I hope it can be easily fixed. The NP info is not at all affected (each player has its own titleformat). The album list modification is obviously only affecting CB menus. The strange thing is that in the sample menu the album list displays the raw sql output, Album Name (Artist1,Artist2,Year). I do not know what that menu looked like in the web UI before the modification, but now the captures are obviously not used. The SBS standard album menu uses Album Name (Year) Artist so it would be nice and consistent if that order could be used in CB album lists in the web UI and on players. Changing the standard SBS titleformat affects the display in file lists. This could be handled by choosing a nice looking separator unlikely to occur in any tag, -*- etc. I noticed that the CustomScan tag I have in my standard SBS titleformat is not showing up in file lists outside CB menus. If it is not a bug this feature could perhaps be used. Add an extra CustomScan table with a separator for all tracks and use this CustomScan tag in the standard SBS titleformat. In CB menus the RegEx should filter out the separator character. It is not that way now for my sample menu in the web UI; the separator is showing up and the captures from the RegEx are not used. Did you try out the Browse by selected option? With just an extra touch you will get a list of all albums where the selected composer appears as composer, album artist or artist, i.e. the old behaviour. I attach the finished sample menu in case anyone else can benefit from the example. MrC came up with a RegEx to fix the remaining issue with the album menu. Regarding the file list, the standard SBS/LMS titleformat has to be set to [Whatever you want in the first line in the list of tracks] ¤ [Whatever you want in the second line in the list of tracks]. After this the CB menu looks as nice as the standard iPeng menus but with more information (all track artists can be displayed for each track and I can add any information I want in the track list). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins
Yesterday morning I started a manual Custom Tag Custom Scan with the Custom Scan alpha version. It was not finished late yesterday night and at 4 AM an automatic SBS scan for new and changed files kicked in. Now the Custom Scan manage scanning page says that the Custom Tag scan is still Running And the SBS info page reports that a scan is under way, but that scan seems to be extremely slow judging from the info displayed - Searching for files (12477) found in more than 4,5h. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Or should I have disabled the scheduled SBS rescan? No relevant error messages that I can see in the server.log. I do not get the good results that aeo12 got with 150k tracks. I am on Win XP with 120k tracks. If the initial custom scan still takes this long in large libraries, an option to skip files that already have custom tags would be useful so that the initial scan can be done in chunks. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wired), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPhone 4 iPad, muso on remote computer running Win 7 64-bit | 7.6.2 (r33496) on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks! erland;661489 Wrote: A new version of Custom Scan (2.8.3545) is now available which hopefully should solve the memory leak/usage issue which was introduced in previous version and caused big scanning performance issues in larger libraries. Does this apply also to the Alpha version? I do not get any update message on the plug in tab. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wired), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPhone 4 iPad, muso on remote computer running Win 7 64-bit | 7.6.2 (r33496) on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
