Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
The layout for this screensaver was originally by T Cutting. Many years ago I reworked it to my liking with some help from BoomX2. A couple of weeks ago I wanted to tweak it a little more and got stuck. Once again BoomX2 came to the rescue. I use these when my devices are off. One is for the Touch and one is for the Radio. Time and date in the center. In the upper left is the current weather condition. In the upper right and below the time on the right is the forecast for today and the next four days. On the left side below the time is the current temperature, along with current conditioni, Real Feel (RF), High (or Low) temp for today/tonight, and the Precipitation Probability (PP). On the bottom line are today's sunrise and sunset times. The line above that shows the current Barometric Pressure (BP), Wind direction and speed, and the Relative Humidity (RH). My little contribution to the community for the help I've received and things I've learned over the years. Best wishes for a great 2023 to you all. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
Using SDT 5-11-28 with LMS 8.2.1-1662271208 on Windows 10. I've been using an SDT screensaver for quite some time and wanted to make a small tweak to it today, but can't seem to get it to work as expected. I'm using the Custom Clock Helper GUI to make the change. I have the following to show the current condition: (sdticon):0 (sdttext); 0;%y (text): Now I'm trying to replace the last line to show the brief forecast, so it now appears as: (sdtext): 0;%v I click apply and it shows the changes have been saved. I restarted LMS and once it's up and running, I power-cycled the radio. But it still shows "Now". In an attempt to figure this out, I replaced the word "Now" with the word "Currently" and restarted LMS and the Radio and "Now" still appears. Might there be a cache somewhere that needs to be purged? Otherwise I'm at a loss as to why the change isn't being picked up. For the record, this screensaver is a modification of T Cuttings that I managed on my own until I ran into a small problem which BoomX2 helped me solve. Thanks for any insight as to the error of my ways. phred's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52602 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112122 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The correct format for a weather station identifier based on a US postal zip code is 37830*:4:*US. PS - Starting with SDT version 5.11.26 I added a little more logic to attempt to correct so now entering only the US 5-digit zip code without any suffix will also work. If you enter 37830 then leave the SDT settings page, when you return you will see it has added the :4:US to the end of the zip code. SDT will also add :1: + the 2-character country code to an 8-character alphanumeric weather.codes station identifier entered without the suffix. For example entering USTN0370 will be updated to USTN0370:1:US. For future reference it is a good idea to check server logs if a plugin does not work as expected. Based on your feedback maybe I only need to reset the date. :) BoomX2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112122 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

As a reminder there are settings for SDT at both the server and the player levels. SERVER LEVEL The weather location (station) is set on the LMS web interface "Advanced" tab. PLAYER LEVEL The LMS web interface "Player" tab is where you can select what weather elements to display on each player. NOTE: This is for legacy players like Transporter, Boom, SB2, SB3 etc. In both cases you select SuperDateTime from the pull down on the tab to see the SDT settings available. For newer players like Controller, Touch, Radio you can use the Custom Clock applet and Custom Clock Helper plugin to setup screen savers with the SDT items you want to display. If you are still having difficulty, please reply with more detail of what is not working. I will try to help you get SDT working for your specific setup. Hi Phillipe Sorry for the delayed reply. For some reason I missed your post. I only use the "nearest" rounding function from the Math library. I have "use Math::Round qw(nearest);" declared in SDT's plugin.pm. However, I am including the entire Math perl library in my distribution. I will test removing everything except Round.pm. I think this will work as I do not think nearest is dependent on any other functions in the Math library. As long as it works, I will create a new SDT release with the trimmed down Math library. @BoomX2: I recently had an issue with a conflict between SuperDateTime and my AirPlay bridge plugin. We both use Math::BigInt::LTM and yours take precedence (maybe because your plugin is registered after mine, in alphabetical order or because your version is more recent, I don't know). The problem is that LTM should provide functions like _to_hex() that are not in Perl but part of C-compiled XS. AFAIK, you do not provide these compiled libraries, so my call to _to_hex which is redirected to your LTM fails. I'm not sure I have a great solution to offer as adding all the compiled libraries for all platform is a royal pain. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
Thanks for the info. After a week on holidays I first saw the post yesterday. I wil try to apply the changes. As for now: I am on LMS - advanced - custom clock settings. In the drop down under clock styles I have chosen SDT weather Celsius touch. Do I now have to set up a completely new style, or do my changes made in the items-dropdown directy change the settings of the clock style SDT weather Celsius touch? It seems the first might be correct because the clocktext ist always light grey and never yellow as found on my devices. But nevertheless I will try to go forward by just trying it. Reducing the font size or changing the position of the time and date Custom Clock items might help. The answers below will give you tips on how to make these changes. If you post the Custom Clock settings file you are using on your Touch I would be happy to take a look a look at it. > As the location ID for Wunderground is working, in SDT, is there a > chance to change the idicated weather from weather.com to there? Yes. In Custom Clock Helper (LMS Settings>Advanced tab>Custom Clock Helper) you can change the weather.com macro variables to the equivalent Wunderground macro variables. For example, change %T to %E to change weather.com Celsius temperature to Wunderground Celsius temperature. To do this; - Load your Custom Clock settings file in Custom Clock Helper by selecting it in Clock Styles pull-down. - Select the item you want to change using the Items pull-down. - Change the variable or variables located in the sdtformat field. Some macro variables are available using the pull-down selections in Custom Clock Helper settings. However, many more are available including those for Wunderground data. Most all of the SDT macro variables are documented on the SDT Player Settings webpage (LMS Settings>Player tab>SuperDateTime) > Is there a chance to change from yellow to an other colour? Yes. Load your Custom Clock settings file in Custom Clock Helper by selecting it in Clock Styles pull-down. Select the item you want to change colors using the Items pull-down. Change the color using the Color pull-down. Use either of the following for your location: 37830:4:US USTN0370:1:US 4 = US zip code 1 = Weather station ID To display SDT weather information on the right-hand display of your Transponder you can create a "custom mode". To do this: -Navigate to the Player tab in LMS settings web interface. -Select your Transporter in the first pull down. -Select SuperDateTime in the second pull down. -Scroll down and click the "Add Custom Mode" button. -Use the any of the macro variables from the TIME/WEATHER FORMAT STRINGS section of the same setting page to create a custom display of the SDT information you want to see. -Entries in "Line 1 & 2 format string (display 2)" will show on the right-hand display on your Transporter. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
Hi Paytheprice, I managed to setup SDT last August and there were some nuisances to the process. Let me share my notes (it is a matchup of comments from posts in this forum and my own experience) with you in the hope it helps you. Regarding problems with location, my location Id for weather.com is SPXX0401:1:SP. I had difficulty because the suggested source would only provide part of the location Id "SPXX0401" and had to guess the need to add ":1:" + country code == IN THE PLAYER: License manager is not needed for Custom Clock or Custom Clock Helper. Custom Clock is installed from Jivelite. Settings|Advanced|Applet Installer Make sure you backup the settings on pCP after installing. Repository URL below possibly outdated *** To install CustomClock from there, you need to put the repository link into the LMS settings/plugins additional repositories http://superdatetimewu.sourceforge.net/CC_JL_repo.xml This points to the modified CustomClock applet which will run on the piCorePlayer jivelite. * CustomClock is showing up under Extras 1. Goto Settings/Screen/Screensavers/Custom Clock Settings/Config #x (and configure it in one of the Custom Clock slots) 2. Goto Settings/Screen/Screensavers/When off (And select the above Custom Clock slot which you have configured with a SDT screen saver) I checked my Jivelite - it's installed at: /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets There's a directory there called "CustomClock" with all the .lua files installed below that. IN LMS: Install SuperDateTime and CustomClock Helper plugins. Custom Clock Helper is needed to install the template. Installation (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?112122-Announce-SuperDateTime-Screensaver-v5-11-0-Date-Time-Weather-Sports-Stocks) If necessary, to install the SDT plugin add the following repository URL to the "Additional Repositories" section at the bottom of the plugins page in LMS. After clicking "Apply" SuperDateTime Screensaver will be available for selection. Select SDT and click apply again. After restarting LMS SuperDateTime is available for use. Basic Setup Begin by navigating to LMS->Advanced Settings->SuperDateTime Screensaver. Set your location in the WEATHER.COM IDENTIFIER field. Pay attention to the format used. If an invalid format is entered, SDT will revert to the default location for Chicago, IL USA = 60614:4:US (Caldes = SPXX0401:1:SP ) https://weather.codes/ is a good resource to find the identifier for your location. Additional settings are available at the player level for Boom, SB Classic, and Transporter players. Navigate to LMS->Player->SuperDateTime for these settings. Touch/Radio/Controller setup For Touch, Radio, and Controller the Custom Clock applet should be loaded using the menus on the player or controller. Several Custom Clock screensavers that include SDT information are available after loading the Custom Clock applet. You can customize the Custom Clock screens or create your own screens through the Custom Clock Helper (CCH) plugin. The Custom Clock applet and Custom Clock Helper plugin were created by Erland. Refer to Erland's thread https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?68269-Announce-Custom-Clock-applet-for-Touch-Radio-Controller for more information and community support for Custom Clock and Custom Clock Helper. SDT Repository URL http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/sdt-weather-com/repo.xml or https://netcologne.dl.sourceforge.net/project/sdt-weather-com/repo.xml Did you set SDT as your screensaver on the Player tab Basic Settings? Remember there are settings for SDT under both the advanced and player tabs. Make sure you backup the settings on pCP after installing. If no styles available for CustomClock in the player, go to Custom Clock Helper app and edit some style to ensure box jivelite800X480" is checked off and click apply. waldo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112122 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
Hi all, I have my LMS running on a Raspberry Pi4 with a pCP. I have four radios, a SB Touch and a DIY Touch based on a pCP. I wanted to get SuperDateTime running for the first time. I followed the instruction on side 1. Plugin is running and accessible via browser and LMS. I have added the location id for wunderground and German language settings. I cannot configure the location id for my locaton. It always stays 60614:4:US. Second problem is, that i cannot add it as a custom screensaver. I can see SuperDatetime on the SB Touch I am using for the first configuration under "Extras" and I can see Custom Clocks there, too. If I touch SDT, the weather for my location by Wunderground is indicated, for weather.com it is Chicago, which i undstand, because I was not able to change the ID. Question 1: Can I simply use only the weather data from Wunderground alone, which I prefere? Question 2: How can I configure SDT as a custom screensaver. I have ten options but I cannot configure them. The Radio is connected to the network since I can receive internet radio streams and my local media. Going to Extras on the Radio shows Custom Clock, Information Browser, and Weather. On the Touch it shows those three plus SDT. The information tab in the control panel shows both devices. However, on the Touch when I expand SDT it never connects. Yet the Touch also shows my local media and internet radio streams. And it's showing the correct SDT screensavers (Off, and Now Playing.) When I go to mysqueezebox.com the Radio is there. Looking at the directory where SDT should be installed, I'm seeing nothing. That's right - it's empty. I opened up the web control panel and SDT was not listed in the active plugins. When I selected it from the repository and clicked save, it would not install. Fortunately I have the zip downloaded and copied the contents to the plugin directory and restarted the server, and then the Radio and I'm back in business on both devices. This is not the first time you've helped me out of a jam, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I've been seen some really odd behavior over the past 24 hours. First there are some issues with LMS not scanning the media folders (see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116076-Not-Scanning-Media=1049776#post1049776. This is still not resolved.) I'm using SDT v5-11-21 on a Win10 PC. During the overnight, it stopped displaying on my Radio, but is showing on my Touch. I restated LMS. I restarted the Radio. Nothing. SDT does not appear in Extras. C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\prefs\plugin contains superdatetime.prefs and customclockhelper.prefs (among others.) Thank you for update 20. The macro variable for the time of the last weather update is a nice feature and it helps to control my PWS. 3xPi3B-7" | pCP 7.0.1 | LMS 8.2.1 | Transporter | 2xTouch | 2xClassic | 2xBoom | 2xRadio | iPeng [Discarded: 2xOdroid U3+m2p+LMS] bluetdi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20633 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112122 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
The last observation time from the PWS might be helpful, I think, as a local time. But it might be even better if a switch between the observation and refresh time were possible. An extra setting field for the time of data refresh at startup is not necessary for me, I was just curious why it was gone. But as you say it was in @tcuttings version of SDT, I recalled. I think the LMS delay on refreshing weather data in my first setup is due to the network where LMS is searching for the players and has trouble finding the synced Transporter and Pi over powerline. Recently I added new equipment and since then it takes much longer for LMS to get the first weather data. Playing music is no problem, it starts instantly. LMS on my other Pi in a better network works very well, new weather data are shown about 15 seconds after restart. Do you want the time from your LMS server when the refresh was completed? Or the observation time from your weather station? It appears as shown below in the JSON file. "obsTimeUtc": "2022-02-09T23:40:30Z", "obsTimeLocal": "2022-02-09 17:40:30", > BTW: SDT now takes up to 10 minutes before showing first data after > re/starting LMS. I actually shortened the time that SDT waits before calling "sub duetCheck" from 90 seconds to 5 seconds. It does the initial data refresh right after this. Your system might be taking longer than 5 seconds to detect players. > Also there was a field in LMS where I could define a 30 seconds data > refresh at startup, that field is gone now. You must be referring to a setting in @tcutting's Wunderground version of SDT. The weather.com version of SDT never had this setting. I can look at adding this setting in a future release. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.11.0 - Date/Time/Weather/Sports/Stocks
'Additional Repositories' didn't work. But with a remote help of my IT friend (linux commands knowledge) I installed SDT manually with app moboXterm for ssh. Folder to copy SuperDateTime folder in (/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Plugins) didn't exist so I had to make it myself. For making or coping folder you need to use sudo -u prefix with your own user password. I was login is ssh with my nas credentials which is part of admin group so I don't understand why I got 'access denied'. SDT is alive again!!
