Finally got around to having another stab at this.
I successfully managed to get my LMS to be SSL-enabled by installing the
Perl modules and then successfully installed this web interface.

However, this was the first step in my goal of installing the LMS
Playlist Editor, which doesn't seem to work.
I will post on that thread.

Yes, LMS has some built-in heuristics to group CDs as albums (this is
the number you see at the "Library" tab), while the others statistics
are calculated directly from the LMS database, bypassing those
heuristics.

While I agree that this would be useful, I'm currently spending the time
I have for hobby projects of 'this'
and a similar project (i.e. using neural networks for music analysis).
I'll put it on the todo list, but don't hold your breath

LMS defines roles for "contributors" to an album, e.g. artist, composer,
... which I'm currently ignoring for the statistics.

Hello Roland0

thank you for updating your repo script so fast ! Now the plugin is
listed and can be installed. No particular issue running it, yet I
couldn't say if there might be incompatibilities with LMS8 since I've
never used your UI before. The main feature I like is the statistics,
thank you for a very effective and intuitive UI. Everything else seems
to work fine as far as I can tell (as a first time user).
Just a note about statistics: your numbers differ from the LMS UI count
(or Squeezelite-X or Orange Squeeze). Maybe you count an album
containing N CDs as N versus just 1 ? .. just wondering .

I love your pop-up album and artist blow-up photos, that's really neat
!

May I suggest a small improvement (whenever you feel like giving it a
thought) ? It would be REALLY good to be able to run and display album
statistics by top ALBUMARTIST and by top COMPOSER, as well as "Top
Artists by Album" (if I get it right, the philosophy of LMS is to
physically handle composers as artists, but to logically process them
apart).

Keep up the good works,
best regards

I've updated the file, it may take a bit till it will be picked up by
the official 3rd party repository.
I haven't actually tested the plugin with LMS 8, so I'd appreciate
feedback if there are any issues.

Hello

I tried to install your plugin through the repo file, no way (version
check from 7.3 to 7.*), I'm running LMS 8.0 on Synology ! May you could
release a new xml file with the extended version range ?
I am very interested in getting your interface for statistics.

Thank you for your great work

That's not going to happen, as the plugin offers no interface to access
it's functionality from another application (and I don't use Tidal, so

Thank you Roland0 for this great Interface.
What I lack compared to the standard interface are two things:
1) the ability to browse the library by folder (or is somewhere? I
cannot find it!)
2) access to the Tidal plugin
Is there a possibility that these features will be added?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Alternative Web Interface (beta)

2018-01-16 Thread SangSomBucket

Afternoon, I am having issues installing this plugin, which I want to do
as a first step to trying the Playlist Editor.
After enabling it and clicking Apply, going to the Plugins tab in
Settings, extGUI4LMS then appears at the top under Updated plugins
available, if I then tick the checkbox to enable and then click Apply
but nothing happens, extGUI4LMS then disappears from the plugins page
entirely.

I believe I have also tried restarting the LMS without any effect, if I
go back to Setting / Plugins then extGUI4LMS reappears at the top under
Updated plugins available.
Please let me know if you need any further info in order to troubleshoot
and thanks in advance for any assistance.

First of all, I wanted to refer to albums (since that's what you where
talking about), not artists - sorry for the confusion.

That looks ok - extGUI doesn't honor the configuration about ignoring
"The La Los etc.", if it's defined in the standard UI.
It could be changed to do so, but then local sorting wouldn't work
anymore. I'll make a note of it and revisit the issue when I have more
time.

That seems ok, sort order for special chars probably puts these after
regular ones.

Turn on debugging for plugin.lmsnewgui in Settings/Advanced/Logging in

I don't use them at all, since LMS understands compilation albums
without them anyway.
It would be possible to extend the artist view to be switchable, but
this would require some effort on my part.
I'll make a note of it and revisit the issue when I have more time.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this at all. While my library only has
~5K artists, the sort order is exactly how it should be (both default
and ascending by name)

If there's really some sort of size limit, there probably isn't much I
can do about, since it will be in the framework providing the UI
elements.
Do you have the same limit with albums (these are loaded by page, but
the container used to display them is the same type) ?

There's definitely something odd going on regarding sort of artists in
the Music Library tab -
- numbers and special characters first,
- then A through "Jackson 5" all looking reasonable
- then into the La* alphabetical by first name eg: "La Bos" etc, then
the Los*, followed by The* eg "The Band" thru "The Isley Brothers" (note
that this also ends near the "J"s)
- Next up is some more "A*" eg "Amore Hitsoke"
- and lastly some more random stuff with special characters for the
first letter

I can't make any sense of it, but it's essentially useless. As I
stated, it's a 9k album library, and there's a whole bunch of Artists
given the large number of Various Artists albums - LMS says >22,000
artists. If you'd like screen shots of how it looks, let me know.

As I stated earlier, Artists is not very useful to me - I'd find Album
Artists a much more valuable criteria.

Thanks for listening,
Jason

Did the manual install. Seems to work ok, it appeared on the LMS menu
after I restarted the server.

This way, only the relevant info will be loaded from the server, and not
all albums you scroll through. Results are cached, to the next time you

Looks good! I'm in and playing around with it. A couple of questions:

1) to play an album - the only way I can see is to drag it over to the
little "Play" box at the top of the right pane. Is this correct?
2) is there a way to view album artists? I can't find it.
3) the music library view of Artists only contains up to "J" which isn't
all of my library (9k albums). Is there a limit to what the container
can hold? Is there a way to jump to a letter like there is with the old
interface? Or am I relegated to using search only for artists beginning
with >= K?

Thanks!
Jason

I had been using LMSnewGUI for a while but when I upgraded to 7.9
something broke.
Seeing the recent posts reminded me about it, I had sort of forgotten.
I still had the old repo. When I updated it I get
Bad repository https://www.nexus0.net/pub/sw/extgui4lms/repo.xml -
Connect timed out: Transport endpoint is not connected
at the top of the plugin page.
I can wget the file from the CLI of my NAS, so I am sure it can get
here.
When I check the box in 3rd party plugins for the app and restart LMS,
not available.
No traces in any of the plugin directories.
Any guesses?
Can I manually install the plugin?

Your perl installation seems to miss the Memoize module. Which is
unexpected, since it's supposed to be include since perl V5.8.
Can you do a file search for Memoize.pm on your C: drive

Most Windows users don't have Perl installed. We ship LMS for Windows as
a bundled up Perl version in an application. But this binary only comes
with the modules known to be used at build-time. If Memoize isn't used
anywhere in the code, then it's not bundled. You'd have to ship a copy
with your plugin to make it work for Windows users.

I'm using this as well, but I additionally included V2 ("use JSON::XS")
since I wanted to use some advanced functionality exposed by it's OO

Maybe one shouldn't do that, Or maybe it depends on the order of the use

JSON::XS V2 is bundled with LMS - I thought this version would take
precedence.

Well spotted - for some reason, I don't get that error, although I have
been running this version for a couple of weeks (and I also don't get
the slowdown - in fact, the new version was supposed to improve
performance, so that's a bit disconcerting..)
Anyway, could you try the following:
- locate your plugin folder (check the regular WebUI > settings >
information for the exact location)
- edit the file LMSnewGUI/Plugin.pm
- delete line 44:

Code:

use Digest::SHA1  qw(sha1 sha1_base64 sha1_hex);
  use JSON::XS; #this is line 44
  use Carp;

so it looks like

Code:

use Digest::SHA1  qw(sha1 sha1_base64 sha1_hex);
  use Carp;

- save and restart LMS
- check the log for the error

If this doesn't fix the the performance regression as well, increase
the logging level (in WebUI > settings > advanced > logging) for
(plugin.lmsnewgui) - extGUI4LMS to debug, restart, use extGUI4LMS and
check the log.

Since the service used to host the repository for this plugin has been
discontinued by Google, I've moved the repository to

Code:

https://www.nexus0.net/pub/sw/extgui4lms/repo.xml

The new version hosted there has two compatibility fixes:
- Works with newer versions of the Music & Artist Information plugin
- Discogs integration works again, however, you will now need a discogs
account to use it - check the build-in help to learn how to enable it.

Just an info: As discogs changed their policies concerning anonymous
access to their API some time ago, the discogs lookup is broken (i.e. no
info for any artist / album will be found).
This isn't an extGUI4LMS issue, but affects all discog clients (e.g. the
one I use on Android also doesn't work anymore)

Even if that was possible, nobody would prevent your users from
switching skin or using a smartphone app or even the squeezeplay or the
Radio itself to control another player.

As I wrote in that other thread: this is not possible.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Fortunately, in the meantime, I've
been given access to some code which illustrated how to get the server
menus. Modifying the code to run in my environment (plus some reverse
engineering) and writing some glue code (e.g. transforming the slim
widget definitions to javascript GUI framework widgets) enabled me to
create a LMS menu allowing access to LMS settings and plugins (including
their GUI, if it's Slim- and not web based). It's not complete (I left
out some widgets no plugin seemed to use), and I didn't investigate apps
at all, but for the plugins tested (Server Power Control, SmartMix,
TrackStat according to some poster), it works quite well. Before
receiving the code, I've also implemented a track context menu (using
info items), which is less sophisticated, but works well for simple
commands (e.g. SmartMix controls)

ok, this is a perfectly valid use case.

I'm a big user of streaming services

and therein lies the problem, as I am not. In fact, I don't use them at
all, and therefore can neither test, no reproduce issues related to
them.

Yep 'Currently Playing' is 100% correct - but where is it in the
playlist, and it looks like the playlist is represented out of order.
Further, if I click 'Go to active song' then the playlist does not
change - I guess because the active song isn't shown in the playlist.
 :(

Playlists are somewhat more tricky in LMS than expected (e.g. there are
actually two, if one uses shuffle (one in normal order, one shuffled),
and the UI has to account for this - something I wasn't aware of until
someone reported an issue). So probably tracks from streaming sources
have to be handled differently, and the playlist seems to be affected as
well.
I'll have a look at how remote tracks are handled, maybe this will solve
/ improve it.
Don't hold your breath, though, since
- not being able to reproduce/test makes it harder
- there is no real documentation for LMS APIs / concepts on this level
(which makes it time-consuming)
- my time is limited
- and Google code (where this plugin is hosted) has disabled new
downloads since the beginning of the year, so I'll have to sort this out
as well before a new version can be released

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Alternative Web Interface (beta)

2014-05-26 Thread gdhgdh

Hi there,

I wanted to try out this new web UI so I upgraded my Debian 7.7.3 LMS
installation to 7.9, and enabled the 0.8.7 plugin from Settings -
Plugins. So far so good.

I have a couple of comments and hope that I'm just using the software
incorrectly:

* I open the classic web UI and clear the playlist for janie-e6320
* I play Soma FM 'Underground 80s' from Favourites
* Web interface looks like this:

15955

* I open the new web UI http://music/plugins/LMSnewGUI/html/app.html
(takes about 15 seconds to open)

15954

The 'Currently Playing' is OK, but should the large 'Playlist' area on
the right be empty?

Cheers,
Gavin.

Well, could be faster (~5sec on my setup), but still a reasonable
duration depending on the performance of your setup

gdhgdh wrote:

Unfortunately, due to the way these streaming radios work afaik it's not
possible to show a playlist (as the stations don't publish it - they
only include info about what's currently playing)
The standard WebUI also only show this info. So yes, it's normal for the
playlist to be empty (I don't see the point in displaying the same info
twice).
That being said, the radio station's logo seems to be (sometimes?)
missing from the Currently Playing info, so that's something that
could be improved.
tbh, the whole UI is geared towards local music (I only added radio due
to some requests for it), and if you only listen to radio, there is no
compelling reason (functionality-wise) to use it (unless you prefer the
look and feel)

Yep that's logical - I only expected for the new interface to mirror
what the classic UI does - i.e. put a single playlist item for that
station - it means that a playlist of radio stations can be built - or a
mix of radio stations + local tracks.. some filler tracks before going
back to another station.

I'm a big user of streaming services and make extensive use of Hectus'
Google Music plugin. I did notice that a playlist containing only Google
Music track doesn't display properly in your alt GUI. For example,
here's a simple playlist 'gdh-80s' as I created it in the classic UI:

15957

I pressed Play so the first track is playing. Now let's switch to see
how the alt GUI displays this:

15958

Yep 'Currently Playing' is 100% correct - but where is it in the
playlist, and it looks like the playlist is represented out of order.
Further, if I click 'Go to active song' then the playlist does not
change - I guess because the active song isn't shown in the playlist.
:(

fyi, discogs has changed access restrictions to their artist/cover
images. It used to be based on IP address, now an application has to
authenticate, and is restricted to 1000 images/day.
As this authentication process is not implemented in extgui4lms, for the
time being this means that no discog images are available anymore (the
artist/release information is not affected by this).

Well, it is supposed to work like you describe it. On my setup, I do get
a list of albums when double-clicking on Various Artists. It is,
however, incomplete - probably 10% of the ones I get in the default web

So it seems there is a bug somewhere, but at first glance it's not
obvious why some VA albums are found, and some are not. I'll have a
closer look at it as soon as I find the time.

expected to find it in Music Library as that is where it is in the
Default interface. Now that I know it's there, no issues, but I
originally thought it simply wasn't implemented.

The logic for me is that you search for new music, so I put it there...

 2) I accidentally clicked on one of the Column headings in New Music
and can't see any way to restore the original order. Usually I just want
to see them in the order they were added to the library.

You can reset all column sort prefs with Reset application state

I do like being able to use the slider to specify how many to retrieve.
But I was surprised that it limited me to 300 since the New Music
Limit in my server preferences is set to 1000. The max of 300 came back
 almost immediately.

tbh, it's just an arbitrary limit - I didn't expect anyone to be
interested in more than 300. I can increase it for the next version.

 3) I know you have specifically not been implementing support for other
3rd party plugins, but if you do  I'd like to have access to
erland's song lyrics. Almost none of my files are tagged with lyrics but
that plugin is pretty good at finding them, at least for better known
 songs.

Actually, plugins mostly are supported - but not those with their own
web interface (so e.g. server power control works well, Music and Artist
Info doesn't (that's why I did the integration) ). Basically, if it
works on the Controller or the Touch, it probably will work here as
well.

 4) After reading through the whole thread, I know how to manage the
playlist, but I find the drag and drop approach to be less accessible
than the control buttons that appear when hovering over a selection in
 the Default interface.

While I admit it's not terribly intuitive, one major requirement for me
was to enable mass operations (e.g. add/remove/rate several
albums/artists/tracks) from all panels (left (info displays, search,
) and right (playlist)). So it's either adding context menus
(add/remove/rate/...) to every single item in all panels, or DD...

I've got about 2200 compilation (Various Artists) titles in my library
and I decide to do some listening of them yesterday since I tend to
forget about them. After putting a few in the playlist using the Default
web interface I thought I'd see what I could with extGUI4LMS. And it
turns out...nothing. AFAICT, there is no way to access those albums as a
group since the search function won't return any results for Various
Artists. I'm not even sure what the solution would be considering the
 approach you are using.

I't not quite sure if I follow. You can find Various Artists in Music
Library/Artists, like in the default web UI. What else would you
expect?

I really like being able to see the other image files in the album
directory. I think it was noted earlier in the thread that they are
duplicated in the list, but that is a distraction, not a major problem.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce it, and the person reporting it wasn't
willing to support me in fixing it.

The suggestion is that you add that same context menu to lists of albums
in the left pane as well. I find that I'm at least as likely to be
looking at information about the *next* selection as the current one.

Well, it works on any track in the playlist, so you can get the images
for every album scheduled to play.
tbh, I thought about adding an album context menu, but never really was
that motivated to do it just for one entry...

And are the Artist Information and Album Information items in the
context menu supposed to do something? I don't see any change in the
interface when I select either of them.
These entries are actually added by the Music and Artist Info plugin,
and therefore don't work (see above - but you get most of the info via
the MAI integration anyway). However, I specifically added the
functionality that plugins can extend the context menu (like in the
default web ui) to support plugins like SmartMix (enabling the user to
start the mix from the current track, and change the mix parameters),
where it works quite well.

I recently had to update from SBS 7.5.6 because I had crossed some
threshold and the scanner would throw an exception while processing
Merge Various Artist and leave me with an incomplete/inconsistent
database. The real reason I stayed with that version for so long was the
Fishbone web interface and I was not looking forward to living with the
Default skin in LMS.

I am definitely enjoying your plugin. I like having all the additional
artist/album/track info easily available and find the performance quite
acceptable on my system. A few observations:

1) I finally found the New Music selection in the Search bar. I
expected to find it in Music Library as that is where it is in the
Default interface. Now that I know it's there, no issues, but I
originally thought it simply wasn't implemented.

Guess it might occur when there are entries in the tracks db table
without an album reference. Try changing line 1218 in
LMSnewGUI/Plugin.pm from:

Code:

  my $albumIds = Slim::Schema-storage-dbh()-selectcol_arrayref(select
distinct album from tracks order by timestamp desc limit  . $newLimit);

to

Code:

  my $albumIds = Slim::Schema-storage-dbh()-selectcol_arrayref(select
distinct album from tracks where album not null order by timestamp desc limit
. $newLimit);

restart the server, and check if this fixes it for you.

I'll put this into the next release (whenever this will be)

Also would be great with support for streaming services such as Spotify
and WiMP - but maybe thats out of the scope?

I don't/can't use those. I'd probably include it in the case someone
else would contribute it (and maintain it afterwards). Very unlikely to
happen, imo.

The method you described should work (provided you clicked Apply and
restarted the server) - the de-installation is the server's
responsibility, the plugin isn't involved in the process.
The last resort would be to manually delete the plugin's folder in LMS'

Unfortunately, I actually don't know - it's tested with 7.7 and 7.8
only.

I have to admit I'm not sure where this error comes from (it occurs in
the place where no LMS-related stuff is used - but maybe these errors
are caused by something else which happened before, since the lines
where it occurs are not supposed to be executed when the plugin is
loaded by the server)
You could try editing the file
/opt/ssods4/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LMSnewGUI/Plugin.pm
and comment out the lines 1603, 1609, 1615 and 1621 by putting a # at
the beginning of each line (this will only break the MusicArtist plugin
integration)
and see if it loads then.

The main new feature in v0.8.5 is integration with the 'Music Artist
Information'
plugin if it is installed.
You won't get all of it's features (as not everything is exposed as a
CLI command by the plugin, which is what I'm using to interface with
it), but only the social artist information (news, blogs, ...).

other changes - see 'changelog'

Don't have an iDevice, so I can't test IOS.

- Android 2.3 ( on Samsung Galaxy SII): Since the Android stock browser
doesn't load it, Firefox is really slow, and Chrome is not available on
Android4, I installed Dolphin Browser + Jetpack. This displays it
perfectly, and performance is ok. Zooming in/out, however, breaks the
layout (maybe one can prevent Dolphin somehow from doing this, as other
browsers don't have this issue)

- Android 4 (on Android emulator): Android stock browser works
perfectly, including zooming in/out.

Haven't tried other browsers, might be worth a shot (Chrome, Opera, UC
Web are all WebKit-based, so they might work)

There still remains one obstacle due to different UI semantics: Double
tap usually zooms in instead of sending a double click, and dragging
drags the page and not e.g. the slider. There might be ways around this,
though, depending on the browser (there seems to be a plugin for Firefox
to archive this, some browser may have settings for it)

Unlikely - the client application (dl mgr, browser) is responsible for
the file name. There might be a name suggested by the server (which will
only be incorrect if the name was already broken before), but this
exchange is fortunately standardized in Unicode.
That being said, I still think the whole thing is a complete mess in
Linux. It was supposed to be solved by the switch to Unicode, but
somehow the issues keep popping up.

I've reported numerous character/language bugs over the years ?
I doubt it's Perl's fault alone. Any application has this issues (e.g.
the system is set to unicode UTF-8, but the application runs in a
different encoding).
However, currently the only app I have issues with regarding encodings
is LMS, so there might be something to it (but it's a certain
combination of OS/Perl/LMS - others will work).
Still, it's annoying (e.g. if I save a playlist which contains umlauts
in LMS, it will fail to find the files when the playlist is loaded
afterwards), so my solution is to not use special characters in file
names at all...

where are your playlist diredtory pionted at ?

You can exclude file formats from the music scan in the settings ( *.cue
) .But then you cant use albums with a single flac/wav and cue file .

However I have no idea how this interfeer or not with with Rolands new
webGUI .

On the other hand when would it ever be necessary to recreate a CD again

Edit: Since I don't use playlists at all, maybe I can just leave the
Playlist Folder setting blank? Would that solve my issue? Who uses
playlists anyway? I never understood the need for them except for when
you create a custom playlist yourself.

And the custom playlist done via lms goes into the directory you
select so you need that . Also use a directory not in the path of the
music folder .

Well then just exclude *.cue *.m3u and *.m3u8 from being scanned ,
however I'm still not sure it will help maybe in the *.cue case . I
think LMS is a bit smarter in never versions but try .
If your ripping software creates m3u files for an album you have no use
of them IMO just delete them .

I don't see the point of keeping them (unless one uses single FLAC/WAV
files - and you don't). You can still burn the flacs to an audio CD if
you really need to.
If you want to keep them, moving them to a different directory outside
of the LMS audio dirs is probably the easiest solution.

Morbeas wrote:

The reason for this behavior is that LMS uses the file name of the cue
file as the name of the playlist. Special characters in file names can
be tricky in a mixed computing environment, as they might be in
different encodings, and then you can get garbled names.
In your case:
- NAS (probably Unix/Linux-based, file system encoding, encoding used
by LMS, encoding used by samba (the sw you use to access it from Windows
as a drive))
- Windows exporer (different encoding than Unix/Linux)

I'd suspect that that if you view the file names directly on the NAS
(using e.g. ssh), they would have the same issues.

Regular audio file tags are not affected by these factors (as they use
the same encoding on all platforms), so they usually work well.

Would Erland's 'Custom Scan' be a work around?
Not sure, as I'm not familiar with it and I don't know what you would
expect from it. Custom Scan will be able to read the tag, but this
information then exists outside of the regular LMS DB, and none of LMS'
standard functionality will work on it (e.g. search etc.)
Custom Browse will be able to use it (I'd assume), but nothing else,
unless some custom code is added to each piece of software which is
supposed to access it. For extGUI4LMS, this is not going to happen.
However, if you put the disc subtitle in the comment field as I
suggested in the other thread, you can display it directly from the

- LMS database - Plugin). If your feature request is successful, I can
add support for this as well.

Well, I won't raise my hopes too high that this feature request will
actually be granted, since development is not a priority for Logitech.
Would Erland's 'Custom Scan' be a work around?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Alternative Web Interface (beta)

2013-07-07 Thread Roland0

Due to 'storage size issues'
with the cover image pre-caching introduced in 'v0.8.1'
this feature is now disabled by default (You'll still have to remove the
specification manually if it was active before by going to the standard
web uiSettingsAdvancedPerformance: Custom pre-caching specifications
and deleting the 200x200_m extGUI4LMS entry).
You can enable it again by setting App_covercache to true in the
SettingsTechnical parameters dialog. If you don't mind the additional
storage requirement (~50kb per album cover), I'd recommend doing so for
the increase in performance.

other changes in v0.8.2 - see 'changelog'

Love the new look!

There is one thing that I would appreciate the most...

Due to a bug, all new versions of lms don't show the ratings in the left
column of the web UI.

Could you try to display ratings on the left side?
So when I select a track from the playlist I could see the currently
playing album tracks WITH their ratings.

Thanks in advance!

I've just added this to the dev version for all views where tracks are
displayed (current/selected album/artist, search results, rating panel),
so it'll be available in the next release.
Two points to note
- the ratings column is disabled by default, so you'll have to enable it
in the column menu (once, will be remembered by your browser)
- you can filter by rating (except search results - use custom search if
you want to search for tracks by rating). As rating is actually a value
(0-100), adding a filter 50 will give you ***//* tracks

2013-07-05 Thread Blu3IcE

I just played around a little bit and I can't seem to add a track from
my database to the playlist.
Am I missing something? Neither Crome nor Firefox is doing anything with
the tracks i'm trying to add via drag/drop to the playlist or the Add
button.
The skin shows the green checkbox and the text Drag items to ... but
they doesn't drop.

My log has a lot of this lines:
[13-07-05 17:53:52.3012] Slim::Web::JSONRPC::requestMethod (443) request
not dispatchable!

- first, make sure that the plugin has loaded properly (default web
uisettingspluginsactive plugins, entry extGUI4LMS). If it isn't, look
into the server log for errors
- FF has an issue w/ DD in some versions (you'd have to drop quickly
and only in the lowest part of the button), Chrome should work better
- What happens when you drop items - is the button highlighted yellow?
Do the items bounce back to where you dragged them from?
- dragging into the playlist doesn't work due some technical limitations
of the gui framework used

Not good, but I don't know if it's related

Looks all good

Ok, clearing cache and restarting the browser made the add button work
in Chrome, jeah!
In Firefox the button turns yellow but the helper text is kinda sticky
and won't go away as I release the mouse button. Another click makes the
text fly back to the left side of the menu.

This is really a bummer. This would be a great feature!

That's exactly the issue I mentioned. You have to drop quickly
(immediately after the yellow highlight appears) and only in the lowest
part of the button, then it works. No very elegant, admittedly...
It does work with Rate and Remove (probably because they are
clickable buttons).

While I agree (from a usability point of view), it wouldn't add any
functionality (you can already add and insert after the current track if
you drag to the add button. LMS doesn't natively support inserting into
an arbitrary position in the playlist, I'd have to implement this as
well)

I can't make you :)

The problem I had was that from the interface it looked like as if it
would work that way. The ui even shows the spot it wants to insert the
song.
