Lead Story

* Canadian filmmaker Rob Spence said recently that he would
install a prosthetic eye with a camera and wireless transmitter (of
the size now used for colonoscopies) into the socket from which
one of his eyes had been removed as the result of a childhood
accident. He hopes to control the prosthetic eye in the same way
that his muscles control his good eye, to record what his eyes see,
and his first project will be a documentary on people's attitudes
about privacy in an Orwellian society. [T]he best way to make a
connection [with an interviewee] is through eye contact, he said.
When you bring in a camera, people change. [Canadian
Broadcasting Corp., 3-12-09]

Government in Action

* Artist Beth Grossman created her wall exhibit, Seats of Power,
to encourage citizens to greater activism in local affairs around
Brisbane, Calif. (just south of San Francisco Bay). The Seats are
upholstered cushions individually tailored with the buttprints of
each of the 10 city council members, who allowed Grossman to
photograph them from behind, clothed, through a sheet of
plexiglass pressed against their posteriors to simulate being seated.
All 10 co-operated, including Mayor Sepi Richardson, who said
she had been considering her legacy lately, but I never thought it
would be my butt. [Los Angeles Times, 3-20-09]

* Small-Town Politics: (1) Resident Tony Randall of Ashland,
N.H. (pop., 2,000), a surveyor by trade who was elected chief of
the town's 12-member police force in March, promised he would
know more about his job by September, when he will finish police
academy training. (2) The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that a
March meeting of the Medina, Ohio, City Council required a recess
when all members engaged in serial giggling over one person's
flatulence. (3) Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer of Snellville, Ga.,
involved in a recent feud with an aggressive city council member,
called on police chief Roy Whitehead to escort him to the men's
room at City Hall for his safety. [Boston Herald-AP, 3-11-09]
[WEWS-TV (Cleveland), 3-11-09] [Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
2-11-09]

* The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with the impossible
task of regulating 18,000 makers of drug devices (and thousands
other companies) and enforcing 123 new federal laws since 1988),
has had virtually no increase in staff in 15 years. It's little wonder,
then, that the AM2PAT company of Angier, N.C., was not caught
before bacteria in its pre-filled syringes were linked to five deaths
and hundreds of illnesses in December 2007. Subsequently
inspected, AM2PAT's saline and heparin syringes were found to
contain debris and sediment and to be muddy and dingy
brown in color. Furthermore, according to a February report in
the Raleigh News Observer, the required clean [air] room was
found to be just a room with a fan, and the company's chief
microbiologist was revealed to be a teenager who had dropped out
of high school. The company's owner has fled to his native India
to avoid prosecution. [News Observer, 2-25-09]

The Homeland Is Secure

* The U.S. Transportation Security Administration ruled in January
that a post-9-11 federal maritime law, which requires
comprehensive background credentials for mariners holding U.S.
Coast Guard authorization on U.S. waters, applies even to the two
mule skinners who work, in tourist season, dressed in colonial
costumes at the Hugh Moore Historical Park in Easton, Pa. The
park's lone mule-pulled boat is operated in a two-mile-long canal
that is near nothing of strategic significance, said the park director.
[CNN, 2-25-09]

* In addition to addressing the usual state homeland-security
concerns, Kentucky's statute requires anyone licensed as a first
responder to disasters to take an oath against dueling (I, being a
citizen of this state, have not fought a duel with deadly weapons . .
. nor have I sent or accepted a challenge [to duel], nor have I acted
as second in carrying a challenge [to duel], so help me God).
Another provision requires the state Homeland Security Office's
executive director to publicize a legislative finding that reliance
upon Almighty God is necessary to homeland security. [Kentucky
Statutes Section 39G.010(2)(a), as reported in the lawyers' blog
LoweringTheBar.net, 2-23-09]

Police Blotter

* Police were called to the Aliso (Calif.) Town Center on March
15th after a woman telephoned 911 to report being attacked near
the Center's fountain by another woman, who had flung her dog's
feces at her and her infant. The flinger was said to be upset about
complaints from passersby about the enema she was giving her dog
in public. [Orange County Register, 3-17-09]

* Names in the News: Charged in Albuquerque in February with
giving her daughter

The Petraeus Factor

The Petraeus Factor
*Greg Lewis.com*
**
*General David Petraeus, the man who turned around the War in Iraq, might
have one more country to save from a tyrannical dictator before he retires.
I'm not speaking of Iran or Venezuela; I'm speaking of the United States.
We're currently in the midst of what amounts to a bloodless leftist coup,
and patriotic Americans, who have given Barack Obama the benefit of the
doubt but are finally sensing what's really taking place, are beginning to
look around for a leader capable of taking charge and reinstating courage,
ballast, and sanity into our political situation.*
**
*David Limbaugh summarizes our dilemma in this way: President Barack Obama
is multi-tasking the dismantling of the American system on so many fronts
that not all of the outrages can be properly monitored, to which I would
add in much the same way Jihadists attempted to thwart our efforts to unify
Iraq under a democratically elected government. For what is happening in
Washington D.C. under the Obama administration is nothing less than a
bloodless version of the attempted jihadist coup in Iraq, a takeover of our
government by decidedly non-democratic political forces. And such a threat
to democracy demands a true democratic champion.*
**
*As Limbaugh indicates, the coup is taking many forms. It's embodied in
virtually every one of the President's political appointees, including,
recently, Harold Koh, the former Yale Law School Dean and now presidential
legal advisor who favors the overturn of American law based on our
Constitution and its replacement with some version of international law. *
**

*But it's also taking the form of what is quickly being revealed to be
mandatory acceptance of TARP funds by financial institutions. The bank
bailout was never intended to be any such thing, it turns out. Rather, it
was a way for the U.S. government to get its claws into the banks in such a
way that the banks would never be able to remove them and the government
would essentially have centralized control over the U.S. financial system.
That's because the new stress test that Treasury Secretary Geithner is
applying to banks is designed, not to enable them to pay back TARP funds,
but to insure that they must accept even more TARP money, giving the
government control over such trivial capitalist foundation principles as the
freedom for companies to determine levels of executive compensation.*

*And it's also clear that Obama's nationalization of General Motors is very
unlikely to result in that company's ever going into bankruptcy, despite the
President's words to the contrary. The reason the bankruptcy option hasn't
been implemented up to now is that it's Obama's intention to dictate, even
more directly than so many of the legislative initiatives that have
heretofore helped cripple the American auto industry have done, that GM
create green automobiles. Never mind that there's no market for such cars
in the U.S.; it's what you should be driving and, damn it, it's what you
will be driving. The government is mandating it, and no bankruptcy judge is
going to step in and make sensible decisions that might enable the U.S. auto
giant to restructure and survive in anything resembling its current form.*

*Many people have bemoaned the lack of Republican leadership, and it has
certainly been evident. Some have even seen it as a good thing, describing
it as a normal part of the process after a resounding electoral defeat such
as the ones the GOP suffered last fall. But as the radical shift our new
President has in mind for this country begins to take shape, and as the
resulting loss of freedom and prosperity it bodes begins to sink in, we're
realizing that we've got to start now to reverse this dangerous leftward
lurch. *

*In addition to winning back enough seats in the Senate in 2010 to remove
the threat of a bulletproof 60-vote Democratic majority, we need to find
some way to use the capabilities of a man with Petraeus's intelligence and
leadership ability to help us turn the tide of the domestic insurgency and
restore democracy in the United States. *

**

Freud hated women, but besides that fact, Chinese foot binding is as
barbaric as they come. More women had clubs at the end of their feet
than Gangas Kahn had in his military. As for the athletic woman, I
can only say for me. Muscle is more attractive than fat or bones. I

There is a woman at my gym, I am sure every gym has one, who works out

every day. She is there whenever I am, and then some. Me, 4-6 hours/

more proof more people should not be allowed on juries

2009-04-06 Thread Ohio mark

*SEVENTH PLACE*

Kathleen Robertson of Austin , Texas was awarded
$80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle
tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture
store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the
verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.

   Start scratching!

   *  SIXTH PLACE *

Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won
$74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over
his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't
notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he
was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

   Scratch some more...

   * FIFTH PLACE *

Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who
was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the
garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage
door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage
door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because
the door connecting the garage to the house locked when
Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em,
EIGHT days and survive on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of
dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company
claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the
insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish.
We should all have this kind of anguish. Keep scratching.
There are more...

Double hand scratching after this one...

   *FOURTH PLACE*

Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas , garnered
4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus
medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next
door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a
chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as
much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle
might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite
because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard
and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

Pick a new spot to scratch, you're getting a bald
spot...

   * THIRD PLACE *

Amber Carson of Lancaster , Pennsylvania because a
jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500
after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her
tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms.
Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier
during an argument. What ever happened to people being
responsible for their own actions?

Only two more so ease up on the scratching...

   *SECOND PLACE*

Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner
of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the
bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front
teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through
the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover
charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her
$12,000oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.

   Ok. Here we go!

   * FIRST PLACE *

This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner
was: Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , who
purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first
trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to
the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly
left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to
make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home
left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not
surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting
in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the
driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma
jury awarded her, are you sitting down?
$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually
changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in
case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a

Are we, as a society, getting more stupid...or are
more members of Congress serving on juries these days?

Re: New York Gov. Paterson Bashes Rush, But Rush Is Much More Popular in New York

A company I worked for in Dc in the 80's was audited by a crack team of IRS
goons. they spent almost a year auditing just 1 years worth of books and
came up with the great finding that the gov't was OVERPAID by 5 CENTS.

When Rush Limbaugh announced he was completely leaving New York,
putting his Fifth Avenue condo on the market. Gov. David Paterson
joked after a speech on Thursday that If I knew that would be the
result, I would’ve thought about the taxes earlier. Over at Radio
Equalizer, blogger Brian Maloney reports that Limbaugh is much more
popular than Paterson at this point:

Rush Limbaugh now ranks number one in New York City among all
listeners 12 and older. According to Arbitron, he has an average of
693,000 Big Apple listeners, with the number expected to grow as a
result of his recent showdown with the White House

Contrast that with Governor Paterson, who according to a recent
Siena poll, has seen his popularity plunge. Just 19% of voters now
approve of his performance. Only 14% would like to see him elected to
a full term, according to the Daily News:

ALBANY - Gov. Paterson's job performance ratings have crashed
thorough the floor, with less than one in five New Yorkers saying he's
doing well, a new poll shows.

Just 19% of those polled gave him a positive rating, while 78%
turned thumbs down, the Siena College poll found. That's down from 51%
positive and 45% negative in the same poll just two months ago.

Maloney reported that Limbaugh responded this way: Well, it has
happened again, folks. I've always said if you place a bag of manure
in front of a Democrat they will certainly step in it, and New York
 Governor David Paterson certainly has.

NPR explained - and he does make a good point

2009-04-06 Thread dick thompson

*Rick Steves, Useful Idiot: *Three weeks ago, the local cooking and old
pop music channel http://www.kcts9.org/ held another fund raising
drive. To attract donations, they showed, naturally, some of their
greatest hits. One of those hits was a propaganda film promoting Iran.
The film was not made by the Iranian government, but it could have been.

The Iranian regime is one of the nastiest in the world. It persecutes
women, dissidents, homosexuals, and ethnic and religious minorities,
relentlessly. It issued a fatwa against a novelist, Salman Rushdie, for
a book he had written, a fatwa that resulted in a number of deaths
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salman_Rushdie.

The regime has governed Iran badly. Its domestic policies are often
incompetent, and its officials are often corrupt. Its oil wealth has
largely been wasted.

The regime has been relentlessly hostile to the United States since the
overthrow of the Shah. It has sponsored a number of terrorist attacks
on Americans, as well as many other terrorist attacks. It has supplied
weapons and other kinds of aid to the terrorists in Iraq. It is hated
by almost all its neighbors in the Middle East.

The regime is working frantically to build nuclear weapons, which it has
threatened to use on Israel. It has, in other words, genocide as an
official national policy.

You would have learned none of those things from this propaganda film.
Instead, you would have seen one scene after another of smiling
Iranians, who may be a little old-fashioned in their religious beliefs,
but are otherwise much like us. And I don't doubt that such people
exist, and that many of them are genuinely friendly to Americans, as
individuals. It is even possible that some of the people we were shown
in the film are such people, but since Steves' itinerary was completely
under the control of the Iranian regime, we can not know that, for certain.

Oddly enough, Steves at times seems to recognize that he is on a guided
tour, a tour run by a nasty regime. From time to time, he notes that
the officials he sees act much like Soviet officials before the fall of
the Soviet Union. But Steves does not draw the obvious conclusion from
that observation, that his film is necessarily misleading. Or --- and I
hate to suggest this --- perhaps he does know that his film is
misleading, and is not bothered by that fact, indeed is pleased by that
fact, because he intended to make a propaganda film.

In introducing the film, the host said that PBS has shows that respect
your intellect. That may be so, but Rick Steves' Iranian propaganda
film is not one of them. Instead, it shows a contempt for the viewer's
intellect, assuming that we can be fooled by scenes of smiling Iranians,
fooled into ignoring the nature of this terrible regime. A regime, I
repeat, that has threatened a small nation with genocide.

Cross posted at Sound Politics http://soundpolitics.com/.

(You can see an interview of Steves about the film here
http://www.kcts9.org/video/rick-steves-iran.

At several points in the film, Steves revealed shocking ignorance of
history and the Middle East. At one point, he said that Alexander the
Great turned the tide against the Persians. Steves apparently has not
heard of the battle of Salamis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Salamis (480 BC), or the battle
of Plataea http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Plataea (479 BC).
After those two battles, the Greeks had the edge over the Persians,
though Persian rulers were able to keep the Greeks in check, by playing
them off against each other. Alexander was not even born until 356 BC,
and his first great victory against the Persians, the battle of the
Granicus River http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Granicus,
was in 334 BC. He did not turn the tide in that battle; he used the
Greek military superiority that had been demonstrated almost five
decades earlier.

At another point in the film, Steves asked an Iranian a question about
the war with Iraq, and implied, in his question, that he thought it had
been a religious war between the Shiites in Iran and the Sunnis in Iraq.
In fact, both countries are predominately Shiite, and the war was an
attack by Saddam Hussein on his neighbor, at a time when he thought
(with some reason) that Iran was militarily weak.

Ordinarily, as you probably know, I prefer to avoid name calling. But I
think that useful idiot is appropriate here. The phrase, which is
often, but incorrectly, ascribed to Lenin, does describe a certain kind
of Westerner, a person who is all too willing to serve up propaganda
from an evil regime, and all too willing to ignore the cruel facts about
that regime. I call Rick Steves a useful idiot because he deserves to
be called a useful idiot.

Finally, one chuckle. The host of the fund raising program asked Steves
just one question after the film was over --- about the quality of the
food in

The Last of The Kennedy Dynasty

2009-04-06 Thread Philobealo

As soon as cancer was found, we noticed the immediate attempt at
canonization of old Teddy by the main stream media. They are saying
what a great American he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear
and not twist the facts to change the real history.
1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was
expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a
classmate to cheat for him.
2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed
up for four years instead of two. Oops, the man can't count to four.
His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a
step up from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during
prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment
shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not
Korea, where a war was raging. No preferential treatment for him like

3. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island
in Massachusetts. At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys
to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary
Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge
with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped,
and into Poucha Pond.
4. He swam to shore and walked back to the party, after passing
several houses and a fire station. Then two friends returned with him
to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they
told him what he already knew, that he was required by law to
immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy
made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep.
Kennedy called the police the next morning and by then the wreck had
already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the
upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car. The Kennedy
family began calling in favors, ensuring that any inquiry would be
contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before
an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain, but
after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under the water
trying to rescue Kopechne, and he didn't call police because he was in
a state of shock. It is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he held
off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem
overnight. Since the accident, Kennedy's political enemies have
referred to him as the distinguished Senator from Chappaquiddick. He
pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a
SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small
payout from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. There was
later an effort to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her family
successfully fought against this in court, and Kennedy's family paid
their attorney's bills... A token of friendship?
5. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but
considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. In his very
first Senate roll, he was the floor manager for the bill that turned
U.S. Immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for
immigrants from third world countries.
6. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of
every expansion of and increase in immigration, up to and including
the latest attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Not to mention
the Pious grilling he gave the last two Supreme Court Nominees, as if
he were the standard bearer for the nation in matters of right.

Yellow-Belly Cops

2009-04-06 Thread d.b.baker

It's become a familiar scene, cops pulled away from shaking down
citizens on public roadways, to confronting the reason they were hired
- in this case, an armed asshole inside a Binghamton building shooting
down the same people taser-happy cops love to shake down on the
streets.

You know the routine; cops loading their guns, then reloading their
guns, checking their vests, re-tying their shoelaces, adjusting their
battle helmets, gabbing on the radio, re-loading their guns, checking
their shoelaces, hiding behind police cars, frozen behind trees...
wishing they could just issue another ticket instead of heaving up
their allotment of donuts.

Yup, real tough guys.

[Q] - Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski, who was on the scene of
the shooting and in command within a few minutes of the 9-11 call is
on the defensive. People are asking the obvious questions:

-- Why did police wait an hour or more to enter the building, even
though the shooting was over by the time they got there two minutes
after a critically wounded receptionist called 9-11?

-- Would any of the 13 gunshot victims who died have been saved by
prompt emergency treatment? -
http://thepurplecenter.blogspot.com/2009/04/outside-authorities-should-review-slow.html

The county prosecutor has jumped in to back the Chief with some
sweeping assertions that some people are going to find hard to accept:

Showing Suicidal Ignorance: Most in Poll Back Outreach to Muslims

*Most in Poll Back Outreach to Muslims
*

By Jon Cohen and Jennifer Agiesta
Washington Post Staff Writers
Monday, April 6, 2009; A10

Most Americans think President Obama's pledge to seek a new way forward
with the Muslim world is an important goal, even as nearly half hold
negative views about Islam and a sizable number say that even mainstream
adherents to the religion encourage violence against non-Muslims, according
to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

There is still a broad lack of familiarity with the world's second-largest
religion -- 55 percent of those polled said they are without a basic
understanding of the teachings and beliefs of Islam, and most said they do
not know anyone who is Muslim. While awareness has increased in recent
years, underlying views have not improved.

About half, 48 percent, said they have an unfavorable view of Islam, the
highest in polls since late 2001. Nearly three in 10, or 29 percent, said
they see mainstream Islam as advocating violence against non-Muslims;
although more, 58 percent, said it is a peaceful religion.

Muslims make up about 1 percent of all U.S. adults.

Majorities of Americans with sympathetic and unsympathetic views about Islam
said it is important for the president to try to improve U.S. relations with
Muslim nations, with those holding more positive views much more likely to
call those moves very important. In his inaugural address, Obama extended
an offer to leaders of unfriendly Muslim nations that the United States
will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist. Overall,
nearly two-thirds said Obama, who arrived yesterday in Ankara, Turkey, will
handle the diplomatic mission about right. Nearly a quarter, though, said
he will probably go too far. Nine percent said it is more likely he will
not go far enough.

Nearly half of Republicans said Obama is apt to overreach in his efforts to
advance U.S. relations, while large majorities of Democrats and independents
said they think he will walk the right line.

Republicans are also more apt than others to hold negative attitudes toward
Islam, with six in 10 having unfavorable views, compared with about four in
10 for Democrats and independents. Among conservative Republicans, 65
percent view Islam unfavorably; liberal Democrats, in contrast, are 60
percent positive.

This partisan divide is also apparent on the question of whether mainstream
Islam encourages hostility toward non-Muslims, with Republicans about twice
as likely as Democrats to say it does. Nearly half of conservative
Republicans see centrist Islam as a promoter of violence.

Perceptions of Islam as a peaceful faith are the highest among non-religious
Americans, with about two-thirds holding that view. Among Catholics, 60
percent see mainstream Islam as a peaceful faith; it is 55 percent among all
Protestants, but drops to 48 percent among white evangelical Protestants.

There are deep divisions in perceptions of Islam between younger and older
Americans as well: More than six in 10 younger than 65 said Islam is a
peaceful religion, but that drops to 39 percent among seniors.

As in previous surveys, unfamiliarity breeds skepticism: 53 percent of those
who profess an understanding of some Islamic teachings view the religion
favorably, compared with 31 percent of those who said they do not have that
fluency. Those who have such a background are also significantly more likely
to see the religion as peaceful. Similar patterns exist for those who know a
Muslim. And views of Islam are more positive among those with more formal
education.

In a Pew poll in March, 11 percent of Americans mistakenly identified Obama
as a Muslim, about the same proportion to do so during the presidential
campaign.

The Post-ABC poll was conducted by telephone March 26-29 among a national
random sample of 1,000 adults. The results have a margin of sampling error
of plus or minus three percentage points.

“Anyone who clings to the historically untrue -- and -- thoroughly immoral
doctrine that violence never solves anything I would advise to conjure up
the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them
debate it. The ghost of Hitler would referee. Violence, naked force, has
settled more issues in history than has any other factor; and the contrary
opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic
truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms.” --Robert
A. Heinlein

Harvard Chaplain Suports Death for Islamic Apostates

2009-04-06 Thread Travis

Subject: Harvard Chaplain Suports Death for Islamic Apostates

He has to if he's a Muslim...that's the Islamic law.

B

http://talkislam.info/2009/04/03/on-the-listservs-there-is-an-uproar-dev/#mo
re-5933

On the listservs, there is an uproar developing over comments made by
Harvard Muslim Chaplain Taha Abdul-Basser (his blogger profile here) in
response to an email query about apostasy stating that apostates should be
killed - though they can only be killed by a legitimate Muslim governmental
authority and can not be performed by non-state, private actors.

Concerned Muslims who are Harvard alums (or not) are being encouraged to
write to Harvard and complain. Some are calling for his removal. Below the
fold, the message fragment that is being forwarded around:

There is a vibrant Muslim community at Harvard. They have a Muslim chaplain,
employed by Harvard and loved and respected by Muslims all around Boston.
His name is Taha Abdul-Basser. He gives Friday sermons, is invited to talks
and to him local Muslims go when they need religious advice. Rarely does any
one voice disagreement with him.

Recently, Muslim students as MIT had a disagreement on what Islam has to say
on apostasy. Fortunately, some one from Harvard was able to get Brother
Taha's opinion on this. Enjoy.

assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

here is Brother Taha's response on apostasy. he also suggested contacting
two other people and if they get back, inshaAllah i will fwd the responses.
Wa-`alaykum as-salam

Taha Abdul-Basser:

Wa-iyyakum.

I am familiar with these types of discussions.

While I understand that will happen and that there is some benefit in them,
in the main, it would be better if people were to withhold from _debating_
such things, since they tend not to have the requisite familiarity with
issues and competence to deal with them.

Debating about religious matter is impermissible, in general, and people
rarely observe the etiquette of disagreements.

There are a few places on the Net where one can find informed discussions of
this issue (Search [Abdul Hakim Murad|Faraz Rabbani AND apostasy]) .
The preponderant position in all of the 4 sunni madhahib (and apparently
others of the remaining eight according to one contemporary `alim) is that
the verdict is capital punishment.

Of concern for us is that this can only occur in the_domain and under
supervision of Muslim governmental authority and can not be performed by
non-state, private actors._

Some contemporary thought leaders have emphasized the differing views (i.e.
not capital punishment) that a few fuqaha' in the last few centuries
apparently held on this issue, including reportedly the senior Ottoman
religious authority during the Tanzimat period and Al-Azhar in the modern
period. Still others go further and attempt to elaborate on the argument
that the indicants (such as the hadith: (whoever changes his religion,
execute him) used to build the traditional position apply only to treason in
the political sense and therefore in the absence of a political reality in
which apostasy is both forsaking the community and akin to political
treasons in the modern sense, the indicants do not indicate capital
punishment.

I am not aware of `Allama Taqiy al-Din Ibn Taymiya's position on this issue
but much is attributed to him by both detractors and supporters so one
should be wary of accepting things attributed to him without asking experts.
Perhaps you can ask Ustadh Sharif el-Tobgui or Shaykh Yasir Qadhi (I am
copying both), both of whom are Ibn Taymiya specialists.

I would finally note that there is great wisdom (hikma) associated with the
established and preserved position (capital punishment) and so, even if it
makes some uncomfortable in the face of the hegemonic modern human rights
discourse, one should not dismiss it out of hand. The formal consideration
of excuses for the accused and the absence of Muslim governmental authority
in our case here in the North/West is for dealing with the issue
practically.

And Allah knows best.

Wa s-salam.
Taha

*ISLAMIC IRANIAN NUKE »* Friday, April 03, 2009 WELCOME TO OBAMERICA:
HOMELAND SECURITY BANS ATLAS

An officer over at the Dept. Homeland Security - Customs and Border
Protection sent me this screenshot when he tried to access Atlas. He is the
third reader (who shall remain anonymous) who works at Homeland Security who
cannot log onto Atlas. They had been able to access my site continually up
until this week. *It went from to access to no access overnight*.

[image: Homeland
security2]http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c60bf53ef01156edd7dc9970c-popup
The reader works for the Dept. Homeland Security - Customs and Border
Protection. They all have Internet access through the national mainframe
(somewhere in Virginia I think). All Internet connectivity runs through one
central computer center. One 'click' and the Dept can turn off anyone.

In Obama's Amerabia - Atlas is banned. That's beautiful. ACORN, Blago,
Reverend Wright, Farrakhan, Ayers, the scum of the earth welcomed into his
lair - Atlas is banned. And is the tea bag
terrorhttp://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/04/obamas-homeland-security-targets-tax-day-teabag-patriots.html
!

I am flattered that he is shattered.

No preferential treatment for him like
  he charged President Bush received.
Let's not allow the spin doctors make this jerk a hero -- how quickly
the American public forgets what his real legacy is...

Does North Korea Rocket Launch Mean The End Of Israel?

2009-04-06 Thread RW

Does North Korea Rocket Launch Mean The End Of Israel?
I remember the last major war in the Middle East, the six day war.
Most all of the Arab countries swarmed into Israel and were largely
successful for a time. It looked like Israel was going down for
awhile, and there were rumors Israel was going to use it's nuclear
arsenal that it already had then. And North Korea was one of the
nations allied against Israel. That's why Israel hates North Korea so
much and doesn't want it acquiring nuclear bombs and rocket
capability. But the reality is that now North Korea has probably
several dozen nuclear bombs, they have advanced long range rocket
capability, they even have a fleet of submarines capable of launching
cruise missiles with nuclear warheads. What that means is that in a
future Arab-Israeli conflict North Korea could launch one or more
rockets toward Israel with MIRVs hitting all the cities of Israel, and
at the same time launch nuclear warheads on faster than the speed of
sound cruise missiles from submarines. The days of Israel bullying
it's neighbors is about over because the Arabs now have a strong
nuclear armed ally that can even the playing field.

Interesting commentary D.B.

What I find interesting, and C.W. hit on this yesterday, (I think it was
C.W.) is that the media (who is in the tank for any liberal cause celebre')
is now focusing on these purported, rash of shootings; that I surmise are
no different than they were three weeks ago, or three years ago. The sole
purpose is to restrict Americans inalienable right to own and possess
firearms. We know that many in the Progressive-Democratic-Feel Good Obama
Administration have set this agenda as one of their goals during their one
term Adminstration. Folks like Israeli operative and professed Socialist
Rahm Emanuel, Hil Clinton, Bella Pelosi and a cabal of other Anti-American
Congressmen and Congresswomen are dead set on doing away with the
Constitution of the United States.

We all should be up in arms, and all the more reason for each and every
American to show up on April 15th to the closest T.E.A. Party near you.

Good Morning RW!

I had not heard that North Korea is this advanced, especially with regard to
its nuclear capabilities, and equally with its missile technologies. Do
you have anything that supports your conclusions? I haven't seen the
United States' complete assessment of how this long range missile fared from
the weekend, but initial indications sound like they still have a long way
to go.

I also understand that the best assessment with North Korea's nuclear
arsenal is more like three or four weapons, far less than ten, and that they
are nominal in comparison to what was even detonated in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki over sixty years ago.

I could be wrong, but I still believe that if push came to shove, these
weapons could be targeted for destruction now, but I have nothing to support
this conclusion, just different articles that I have read within the last
two or three months..

I've heard North Korea already has at least 20 nuclear bombs and has a

because unlike Iraq they really have advanced weapons of mass
destruction they're capable of using.

Well said Philo

If I could improve on this brief resume' of Senator Kennedy, I would
emphasize how this man almost single handedly changed the face of our Nation
with his 1964 Immigration Bill, and his continuous push for allowing illegal
immigrants into this Nation.

Just as bad, was the Kennedy-Kassenbaum Bill, which single handedly took
away the scienter element, the *mens rea*; aspect from Doctors who were
taking patients who were covered by Medicaid and/or Medicare.

Yesterday, there was a thread on another board that talked about the number
of doctors and health care providers who refused to accept patients who were
covered under Medicaid or Medicare. The Kennedy Kassenbaum Bill is the
cause of this, because the distinction of whether a Doctor (or his office)
intended to, or whether they knowingly and intentionally attempted to
defraud the government doesn't matter anymore. If there is a mistake,
the penalty is the same as if you intentionally attempted to defraud the
government.

Thanks Ted, for all that you have done for our Nation.

arsenal that it already had then.

Amazingly a correspondent claims that Republicans are more likely to encourage cop-killers

Oliver Willis on Republicans Encouraging Cop-killers.

It is highly odd that Oliver Willis would attribute murdering cops
http://www.oliverwillis.com/2009/04/05/truth-stings/to those who hold
Republican views
http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2009_04_05-2009_04_11.shtml#1239004924.

ARREST RATES. In the debates over whether felons can vote, both
Republicans and Democrats seem to agree implicitly that felons will tend
to favor Democrats. I have never heard anyone even hint the opposite.

That is consistent with General Social Survey data showing that the odds
of a Democrat or Independent reporting having been arrested or charged
with a crime are 122% higher than the odds of a Republican reporting
being arrested or charged with a crime. Among those who report having
been arrested or charged, only 12% are Republicans. The others are 9%
Independent, leaning Republican; 18% Independent (no leans); 18%
Independent, leaning Democratic; 40% Democrats. (Of course, arrest is
not the same as offending or conviction, but the political makeup is
likely to be in the same general direction.)

I am aware of no data on the party identification of murderers in
general or of cop-killers in particular, but there is no reason to
suppose that the political orientation of cop-killers is any more
Republican than the general criminal population, which everyone assumes
(and GSS data indirectly suggests) is disproportionately Democratic.

ANGER AND HAPPINESS. As to anger and happiness, in the GSS Republicans
report being much happier, being less likely to be angry at someone, and
less likely to be mad at someone or something. When angry, their anger
lasts less time, and they are less likely to plot revenge.

Compared to non-Democrats, on the other hand, Democrats report being
somewhat less happy and when angry, their anger tends to last longer. On
being angry at someone, being mad at someone or something, and plotting
revenge, the results are not significant because Independents are
(usually insignificantly) more extreme than Democrats on these issues).

I don't know whether Democratic views cause criminality or anger --
frankly, I doubt it. The likelier causal direction is that unhappiness
with one's lot in business and in life tends to make someone Democratic,
a probable example of what social psychologists call motivated social
cognition.

Redistibutionists tend to be Angry and to Plot Revenge.

Oliver Willis expands on the views
http://www.oliverwillis.com/2009/04/05/truth-stings/of Kos, arguing
that Glenn Reynolds http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/75672/chose
the side of the political aisle that encourages people to shoot cops:

The conservative blogs are enraged that people are pointing out that
they have and are stoking the fires of an atmosphere of hate that
leads to police officers getting killed. As I've written for years,
this is part of their pattern of behavior in America and for too
long we've accepted their verbal diarrhea and incitements to
violence as honest political dialogue and not the insanity it is.

. . . Its days like this I'm glad that when I was deciding what side
of the political aisle I wanted to be on, I didn't make the same
mistake as Glenn Reynolds and choose the one where we encourage
people to shoot cops.

In taking apart Kos's views, Confederate Yankee is too generous
http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/285479.phpto the Kos/Willis
position:

Anger, is an emotion. It is apolitical and amoral, neither right nor
wrong nor identifiable with a party affiliation. It is how a person
choses to channel anger into action that defines him as good or evil
or benign.

This is true, but there are patterns in opinions and attitudes. I
discuss some of them in Testing Social Dominance: Is Support for
Capitalism and Opposition to Income Redistribution Driven by Racism and
Intolerance?, a chapter of my Ph.D. thesis that I've presented at
faculty workshops at Yale and the Univ. of Chicago, as well as academic

The Case Against Koh...

disputed. The debate about his nomination to legal advisor at State so
far features a breathless New York Post article
http://www.nypost.com/seven/03302009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/obamas_most_perilous_legal_pick_161961.htm?page=1,

a bland and uninformative Times article
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/02/us/politics/02koh.html?_r=1hpw, an
indignant piece http://www.slate.com/id/2215142/in Slate, and much
huffing and puffing by bloggers who, with a small number of honorable
exceptions, have refrained from discussing Koh's ideas.

Koh is best known for his defense of what he calls transnational legal
process, a somewhat ill-defined concept that refers to the process by
which international legal norms enter domestic law. When the president
ratifies a treaty with senate consent, the treaty becomes a part of
American law; if the treaty is self-executing, courts will enforce its
provisions. Congress can also adopt international law by statute. Common
law courts, including federal courts using their limited common law
powers, are free to draw on international and foreign law for
inspiration, and often do. And federal courts sometimes rely on norms of
international law for the purpose of interpreting ambiguous statutes
and, more controversially (because they are so hard for legislatures to
change), constitutional provisions such as the eighth amendment.

The observation that courts do these things is not controversial. The
significance of these practices is open to question. In Koh's work,
transnational legal process explains why nation states comply with
international law despite the absence of international legal enforcement
mechanisms. He thinks that transnational litigation---along with other
bureaucratic and diplomatic processes---causes states to internalize
international law. Judges, bureaucrats, elected officials, and the other
people who make decisions on behalf of states become habituated (by a
process that Koh does not explain) into complying with international
law, and so cause states to obey international law even when a
cost-benefit analysis would indicate that violation of a particular
international legal norm serves a state's interest.

Koh argues by example and in his hands every example turns into a homily
about the wisdom of, invariably, liberal norms of international law, the
futility of resisting them, and the retrograde attitude of the United
States (particularly, Republican administrations). The Reagan
administration junks the ABM treaty but then transnational legal process
compels the United States to retreat during the Clinton administration.
(Koh made this argument before Bush II tore up the treaty.) The Reagan
administration mines Nicaragua's harbors and disregards an adverse
judgment from the International Court of Justice, yet this judgment
mobilizes popular opinion that forces Reagan to pull in his horns. (This
account is largely baloney
http://www.ericposner.com/International%20Law%20and%20the%20Disaggregated%20State.pdf.)

The U.S. government kidnaps a criminal suspect from Mexico but then pays
the price in domestic litigation and backs away from this practice
(except when it doesn't). The U.S. refuses to enter the Landmines treaty
but nonetheless finds itself succumbing to anti-landmines pressure.
Americans support the death penalty but international law frowns upon
it, and eventually the Supreme Court cites foreign and international law
in the course of striking down capital punishment for people who are
mentally retarded or who committed capital crimes while juveniles.

For Koh, these examples and others like them show that international law
does not merely influence domestic law when the U.S. government says
so---something that no one doubts or objects to. International law also
affects domestic law in the teeth of opposition by the elected officials
of the U.S. government, often in ways that are indirect and hard to
observe. That is why international law doesn't need an external
enforcement mechanism to be effective. And this is a good thing,
according to Koh. We should show a decent respect to the opinions of
mankind, and somehow we end up doing this even when we vote for
politicians with the opposite impulse---all thanks to transnational
legal process.

This brings us to the Shariah discussion at the Yale Club in New York,
which started the debate. It wouldn't surprise me if someone asked that
question---whether U.S. courts would have to enforce Shariah. It is the
obvious sort of question that anyone who hears Koh's ideas would ask.
What if the opinions of mankind, as embodied in international or
foreign law or simply international opinion,

The epitome of a republican cop killer

2009-04-06 Thread dick thompson

Supreme
Court Rejects Beloved Leftwing Cop Killer

Liberal icon

The idiotic left has impeccable timing. While they were getting their
rocks off over the weekend with the absurd claim that conservatives want to shoot cops, they fail
to look at their own long history of supporting cop killers.

Well, look who's back in the news today: The left's favorite cop killer.

Mumia Abu-Jamal has
lost his bid for a new trial in the killing of a Philadelphia police
officer in 1981.

The
Supreme Court said Monday it will not take up Abu-Jamal's claims that
prosecutors improperly excluded blacks from the jury that convicted him
of murdering Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.

The
3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia upheld Abu-Jamal's
conviction but held his death sentence invalid. The appeals court said
it would not second-guess state court rulings rejecting Abu-Jamal's
claims of bias in the composition of the jury.

The high court
considered only the conviction. The state has separately asked the
court to reinstate the death sentence, but the justices have not acted
on that request.

A Philadelphia jury convicted Abu-Jamal, who is
black, of killing Faulkner, who was white, in 1981 after the patrolman
pulled over Abu-Jamal's brother during an overnight traffic stop.

Prosecutors
say Faulkner, 25, managed to shoot Abu-Jamal during the confrontation.
A wounded Abu-Jamal, his own gun lying nearby, was still at the scene
when police arrived, and authorities considered the evidence against
him overwhelming.
Over to you, Markos.

A shame this cretin won't be put down, but on the upside he's free to
keep a diary at Daily Kos.

since when was a radio truly necessary? I got in the habit of singing

Re: Yellow-Belly Cops

2009-04-06 Thread d.b.baker

On Apr 6, 2:31 pm, Keith In Tampa keithinta...@gmail.com wrote:

Let us hope that it is not that far yet D.B.   I pray that it is not
 deteriorated that badly.

Well, Keith, let's take a look:

[Q] - By almost every measure, Washington is hopelessly corrupt.

And we are at once victims and accomplices.

Career politicians are spending the country to near-bankruptcy as they
feather their own nests, tighten their leash on our necks and pat us
on the head. They take our money, bend it to their will, then return
small portions of it at their discretion to make us feel it has all
been worth it.

Washington is to the taxpayer as the drug cartels are to the
addict. . . . Meanwhile, with the power to give out our money as they
wish, congressmen take campaign money from lobbyists and industries
they regulate. Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., is only the latest poster boy
for that, but boy is he a good one. There may be no one who better
represents all that is wrong with Washington. The powerful Senate
Banking Committee chairman got a sweetheart mortgage from Countrywide;
he has received $280,000 in campaign contributions from troubled
insurer AIG; and he made sure that AIG executive bonuses were
untouched by Congress — then claimed for 24 hours that he knew nothing
about it, before reporters forced him to admit the truth. --
http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/2009/04/05/edi_517159.shtml

Meanwhile, back at the trough:

[Q] - The Obama aide disclosure that shocked me wasn’t Lawrence
Summers making $5 million at a hedge fund, but Tom Donilon “earning
$3.9 million as a partner at the Washington law firm O’Melveny
Myers.” … Summers is a big-time economist, advising people with lots
of money at stake on questions that involve, you know, equations. He
had to “solve math puzzles” to get hired! I’d expect him to be
expensive. But Donilon’s just a political Washington lawyer. He makes
almost $4M? Wow. I didn’t know I’d fallen so far behind. Somebody
really ought to do something about the growing income inequality in
our society. --
http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/kausfiles/archive/2009/04/06/tom-braden-s-omituary-plus-sniggergate-and-donilon-envy.aspx

I mean, yellow-belly cops are one thing, but this is another:

[Q] - It was surely an act of hubris for President Obama to ask
Congress to approve a $3.6 trillion federal budget for 2010 that runs
a trillion-dollars worth of red ink its first year and then projects
half-trillion deficits every year thereafter for a decade. Congress
has never before been asked to consider spending of such magnitude,
not even during wartime. Obama’s budget proposal also included
provisions committing the nation to far-reaching policy changes that
are certain to drive federal taxes higher, send gasoline and
electricity costs soaring, socialize doctors and patients by putting
Washington bureaucrats in charge of health care, and make Uncle Sam
the Daddy Warbucks of college tuition for everybody. . . . So how did
Congress deal with this landmark legislation? The House of
Representatives gave opponents exactly 20 minutes to present an
alternative, then gaveled the Obama measure to approval. The Senate
approved it after considering a handful of amendments. But note that
even before the 2010 budget was approved, this Congress had approved
spending more than $1.2 trillion, or $24 billion per day. That’s $1
billion every hour since the 111th Congress convened in January. --
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/Banana-republic-budgeting-should-shame-Obama-Congress-42502587.html

That's just a cursory look, today. So, yes, I'd say we're well beyond
the politeness of tea parties. Which means Americans are either tone
deaf, or trapped by abject fear. As if they didn't have a drop of
Irish blood coursing through their frightened veins.

The Daily Times reported:

A suicide bomber blew himself up at a Shia religious gathering in an Imambargah

The attacker struck at the gates of a Shia mosque where some 1,200 people were

“Twenty-two precious lives have been lost in this attack,” Punjab police chief
Shaukat Javed told reporters. He said a joint investigation team had been
constituted to probe the attack.

The official said the suicide bomber appeared to be a 15-year-old boy whose
legs and head, with damage to the face, had been found at the blast site.
The Taliban reported on Sunday that they would carry out 2 suicide missions in
Pakistan every week.
They did not mention anything about using children.

 */The Chicago Tribune/*
 http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0703020128mar02,1,1921179.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed

 reported:

Many people know that Democratic presidential candidate Barack
Obama's father was from Kenya and his mother from Kansas.

But an intriguing sliver of his family history has received almost
no attention until now: It appears that forebears of his white
mother owned slaves, according to genealogical research and census
 records.

The records, which had never been addressed publicly by the
Illinois senator or his relatives, were first noted in an ancestry
report compiled by William Addams Reitwiesner, who works at the
Library of Congress and practices genealogy in his spare time. The
report, on Reitwiesner's Web site, carries a disclaimer that it is
a first draft --one likely to be examined more closely if Obama
 is nominated.

According to the research, one of Obama's great-great-great-great
grandfathers, George Washington Overall, owned two slaves who were
recorded in the 1850 census in Nelson County, Ky. The same records
 show that one of Obama's
 great-great-great-great-great-grandmothers, Mary Duvall, also
 owned two slaves.

The Baltimore Sun retraced much of Reitwiesner's work, using
census information available on the Web site ancestry.com and
documents retrieved by the Kentucky Department for Libraries and
Archives, among other sources. The records show that Overall, then
 30, owned a 15-year-old black female and a 25-year-old black male,
while Mary Duvall, his mother-in-law, owned a 60-year-old black
man and a 58-year-old black woman.

The family admits it, too, didn't tell doctors about the silicone

The Baltimore Sun retraced much of Reitwiesner's work, using

SHOULD WE ALL EMBRACE SHARIAH AS PART OF RESPECT ISLAM CAMPAIGN?

2009-04-06 Thread Travis
From: Travis
Date: Sat, Apr 4, 2009
Subject: SHOULD WE ALL EMBRACE SHARIAH AS PART OF RESPECT ISLAM CAMPAIGN?

Subject: SHOULD WE ALL EMBRACE SHARIAH AS PART OF RESPECT ISLAM CAMPAIGN?

Should the Jews and people of conscience have protested in 1935 when the
nazis first passed the infamous racist and anti-Semitic Nurnberger Gesetze
(Nuremberg Laws)?

Should they perhaps have quietly remained on the sidelines, observing as
these rules were implemented and as the concentration camps were placed in
operation years later?

Or maybe they did the right thing by merely waiting until they were sure
that the nazis were evil, until after six million Jews and eleven million
others had been slaughtered, before speaking out?

Your personal response to this question will determine how we should act
today, when a similar situation is facing us. True, what we face today is
not quite as obvious as is our 20:20 hindsight of the events of 74 years
ago, but the ramifications and the loss of human lives are potentially far,
far, greater now.

This is definitely not a personal nor a political issue. This is an
existential matter, one which will affect all of Western society. The Muslim
Brothers (or Muslim Brotherhood) are a serious and well-financed movement,
and they keep their plans just below society's threshold. But when you
understand their carefully developed strategy and tactics, you can see that
they are making serious, possibly irreversible, progress.

With that caveat in mind, try to understand what is being explained below.
The author is very restrained in his presentation, but the basic facts are
there. Take them seriously. The warning is obvious. So should be your
response. -- Allan

WILL OBAMA EMBRACE SHARIAH AS PART OF HIS RESPECT ISLAM CAMPAIGN?

By Frank J. Gaffney, Jr. March 17, 2009 / 21 Adar 5769

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com http://www.jewishworldreview.com/
http://www.JewishWorldReview.com http://www.jewishworldreview.com/

President Obama, on Friday, reiterated for the umpteenth time his
determination to develop a new relationship with the Muslim world. On this
occasion, the audience were the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the
Philippines. Unfortunately, it increasingly appears that, in so doing, he
will be embracing the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood - an organization
dedicated to promoting the theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam
calls shariah and that has the self-described mission of destroying Western
civilization from within.

As part of Mr. Obama's Respect Islam campaign, he will travel to Turkey in
early April. While there, he will not only pay tribute to an Islamist
government that has systematically wrested every institution from the
secular tradition of Kemal Ataturk and put the country squarely on the path
to islamification. He will also participate in something called the
Alliance of Civilizations.

The Alliance is a United Nations-sponsored affair that reflects - as,
increasingly do most things the United Nations is involved in - the views of
the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The OIC is made up of 57
Muslim-majority nations. Thanks to support from Saudi Arabia and its
proxies, the Muslim Brotherhood has become a driving force within the
Conference and their agendas largely coincide.

For example, in 2005 a communique issued after a summit in Mecca declared:
The Conference underlined the need to collectively endeavor to reflect the
noble Islamic values, counter Islamophobia, defamation of Islam and its
values and desecration of Islamic holy sites, and to effectively coordinate
with states as well as regional and international institutions and
organizations to urge them to criminalize this phenomenon as a form of
racism.

Ominously, as part of its bid to criminalize Islamo-phobia, the OIC is
seeking deterrent punishments. It insists that not only freedom of
expression but all human rights be circumscribed by the OIC's 1990 Cairo
Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which concludes with the caveat that,
All the rights and freedoms stipulated in this Declaration are subject to
the Islamic shariah. Translation: Liberties enshrined in the United
Nations' foundational Universal Declaration of Human Rights are rendered
null and void.

The demand that no criticism of Islam be permitted is the pre-eminent
feature of the Muslim Brotherhood's efforts in the West. In fact, it is but
the leading edge of the Brothers' bid to suppress public awareness of the
threat posed by their program in societies that pride themselves on
religious tolerance, thereby facilitating seditious penetration and
influence operations by the shariah-adherent.

A playbook for the latter can be found in a publication issued last fall by
the U.S.-Muslim Engagement Project being aggressively promoted to the Obama
administration and Congress by a number of its non-Muslim participants.

Moonbats are defined as, Wacko left, socialist-elitist radical extremists,
who believe themselves to be more tolerant, kinder, gentler, and more
enlightened than most all other beings on the planet, but are none of the
above. Sometimes, they like to call themselves, progressives; and can
frequently be heard saying that, The United States is a Democracy.

Most all Moonbats are clueless, uninformed, have never watched any other
news organizations' television shows except NBC, CBS, ABC, and on cable,
they always tune into MSNBC. They believe that the devil himself created
FOX News Network, and in general, are terrified of actually hearing or

Barack Obama's ancestors owned slaves according to a report released
by a genealogist who works at the Library of Congress.
   */The Chicago Tribune/*
   http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0703020128mar02,1,...

Dr. John's Constipation Cure

2009-04-06 Thread Keith In Tampa
Subject: Dr. John's Constipation Cure

If you are bothered by occasional or frequent constipation, look in the mirror
and repeat the following phrase three times in succession when symptoms
occur:

My financial and personal well being are totally in the hands of Barack Obama,
Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Tim Geithner, Rahm Emmanual, Barney
Frank, Chris Dodd, and Al Gore

If that doesn't scare the s**t out of you, then you are probably destined
to be backed up for the rest of your life.

There is no need to thank me for this advice, I'm just doing a public
service.

Dr. John

LOL!!

Excuse me Mark!! I stand corrected!!

I could have expanded on that whole, tolerance thing a litttle bit more,
as Moonbats are the least tolerant of anyone that I know.

There is also their whole secularist agenda that I failed to mention, I will
save that chapter for tomorrow night's agenda!!!
