Disregard...I found the option in the Bands setup to make sure the footer
prints in the summary as well. All good!

VFP9SP2 report problem with Summary overflowing and page footer not showing

2017-06-05 Thread mbsoftwaresolutions

Good evening, ProFox Community!

I've got a "Proposal" report that has a page footer that *should* be
printed on each page, and a Summary page that has a memo field that
stretches as needed. Apparently the client has really long winded memos
that get imaged, and the result is that the summary section's
continuation onto subsequent pages causes the footer to be basically
ignored or not shown.

Ideas?

Thanks,

report problem

2012-07-10 Thread carol
I write specifications, do testing and handle tech support for several VFP
9 applications. My programmer is on vacation and I have an irrate user who
can't print 1 report to 1 printer although other users can print the same
report. The application is on a network and she's so angry I thought I'd
ask for suggestions about what I might try. I can't change the report or
application. I updated the user's software yesterday but so what? The
error message she gets is Error Loading Printer Driver. Method: Control
App._PrintDialogue. and she can print to the printer from other
applications, even other reports from this application. The report previews
okay and at this point should display a screen with Windows printer options.
I think I'm stuck until my programmer returns and don't know what he can do
anyway. Any thoughts other than next take my vacation the same week as my
programmer?

Carol,
I bet it is a HP Printer and the drivers are probably the standard Windows

Thank you all for your suggestions. I can try all of them because I saved

Hey RK - that was my 1st thought. However, since it seems she can't
really open up the Report Form - based upon her 1st posting - I suspect
she still won't be able to look into this as the problem. When I tend to
have this problem - and most of the client systems are VFP7 - I have to
open up the report in VFP9 - Uncheck the Save Env. setting - and then
the report no longer is hard coded and being directed to One printer -
instead of the one selected by the user.

Also - Carol - just curious. Where is Victor, NY. I'm located on Long

open up the report in VFP9 - Uncheck the Save Env. setting - and then
the report no longer is hard coded and being directed to One printer -
instead of the one selected by the user.

Also - Carol - just curious. Where is Victor, NY. I'm located on Long
 Island and work in NYC...

And since no one has mentioned it yet, if the printer environment is
saved in the FRX, this can result in the reported behavior when the
stored printer reference does not exist.

I have seen this on terminal services. The default printer on the PC is
set to a printer that is not in getprinter(). They either select a
different printer or have support restore their printers.

Thanks again all. I did try printing from the program before the update and
there was no change. I'm just going to write it up. Calling back an trying
a few things calmed the customer down for the moment even though I couldn't
fix it. I'll pass your suggestions on to my programmer- if he asks!

I am a one-man organisation and my son runs a hardware/network type
business from the same location
When I go away, he fills in for me

Something akin to what you describe happened last year when I was away for
a month
This client could not print a specific report from her pc, but could do so
from any other pc.
When my son was finally able to track me down (48 hours later), I told him
to do nothing.
I advised him there were 2 problems. In order of priority:
The client
The report

I told him to not waste his time and wait for me to return home.
I was prepared to lose the client.

One more thing occurs to me about this. And it actually happened to me on my
work network. Some kind of glitch at the domain level kept resetting my default
printer. IIRC at least once it got set to a file based printer (i.e. the
Windows equivalent of a PDF driver). When this happened, I would get errors
when trying to print pretty much any of my reports. Resetting my default
printer to an appropriate device fixed the problem. If you're still thinking of
making one more attempt to soothe the ruffled feathers of this user, I'd
suggest you contact the client to see if she can check what printer is her
Windows default.

Thanks. I did and it is her default printer, but you've reminded me of a
weird issue that once happened on my own computer. In one report (in this
same application) Windows Printer Dialogue would set the report to print to
an offline or nonexistent printer rather than the default. I can't recall
exactly but Windows XP was finding available printers on the network or
something and this was on the printer list but not available. I deleted the
printer and the problem went away.
