I can verify the problem. Same crash using QGIS 2.14.5 on Win 7.
  Here are the steps:

I downloaded the meuse data from:
  http://spatial-analyst.net/book/system/files/meuse.zip
Load the meuse point shapefile.
Open processing->QGIS Geoalgorithms->Graphics->Vector
  Layer Histogram
Choose cadium as attribute
number of bins=10
Click run---> Minidump

I did the same on Linux Mint, running QGIS 2.14.1 and the
  process succeeded, no problem.

It is using QGIS 2.14.4 on

Hi,

Oops! My files are in my Git Hub now too.

It is the Meuse data that is freely available. I did say that I'm trying
to create a histogram from the data for an assignment. I don't want anyone
to create the histogram for me - I just want the algorithm to work for me.

2016-08-22 Per discussione William Kyngesburye
Today I finally figured out the problem I was having (and moving is done, just
miscellaneous unpacking to do).

For compiling OTB using clang's libc++, the OpenThreads headers were
interfering with the libc++ headers. It's all fixed up, so I hope to get new
QGIS packages ready soon.

[Qgis-user] Tablet for outdoor in forest

2016-08-22 Per discussione Piotr Kania

Hi!

I know that few times people were asking here about tablets, so sorry
for my question;) - I need cheap tablet that would be good for working
with qgis outdoor. Right now I bought good gps bluetooth receiver, so
next could be a tablet. I'd rather buy sth with windows on board, as I
will need use not only qgis but also some other windows software.

I don't have too much cash, so the most important thing would be - 1)
working time on one battery, 2) size of screen - 6 or 7 inches. My
typical job day - 8 or more hrs I walk through woodlands, I have to
digitise my work as a layer, so for example - exact borders of tree
stands, roads, borders of habitats - everything that can be visualize in
gis etc. I'm forester if that could be helpful for understanding my
needs :) Probably I would use qgis more as a mobile viewer of all
rasters and layers in qgs project. Right now I use my android smartphone
for that (Oruxmaps) but I would like to make some edits outdoor - right
now I have to do that after my jobday.

Thanks for any thoughts or recomendations.

[Qgis-user] QGIS+Proxy+HTTPS

2016-08-22 Per discussione Pasquale Di Donato
Dear list,

I'm trying to access some GeoJSON resources on a HTTPS Server (e.g.
https://d2ad6b4ur7yvpq.cloudfront.net/naturalearth-3.3.0/ne_50m_populated_places.geojson):
using QGIS 2.14 and/or 2.8.1 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

When connecting outside my work network (e.g. via a Wi-Fi connection) I can
get the resources without any problem.
When connecting with my work network (via a proxy) the connection does not
work (Failed connect to ...)

Any idea?

Thanks

Did anything change in the specification between 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 to not allow

Not sure if this is a QGIS or Geoserver issue...

I have a WFS provided through Geoserver v2.5 - I have no issues adding layers

[Qgis-user] New plugin: AutoFields

2016-08-22 Per discussione Germán Carrillo
Hi QGIS users!

I've released the AutoFields plugin [1] and would like to tell you about it.

You might have needed to get automatic calculations on some fields when you
create or modify features in a vector layer. Well, that's what the
AutoFields plugin allows you to achieve.

With the AutoFields plugin you can set an expression over new or existing
fields and get automatically calculated values as soon as you digitize
geometries. A field with such capabilities is called an AutoField.

You could close QGIS and AutoFields will be remembered for you next time
you use their corresponding layers in any other QGIS project.

Have a look at the documentation of the plugin [2], which contains usage
instructions, video examples, and FAQ, among other sections. If you know
Python, you can even create and use AutoFields from PyQGIS; instructions
are also in the documentation.

I recommend that you watch this video [3] to see AutoFields in action.

If you have any question, don't hesitate to ask. Hope you find the plugin
useful!

Regards,

Germán

Beh, se non ti crea manco il cosiddetto "bounding box", significa che il
tipo di compressione TIFF non e' compatibile con Qgis: potresti gentilmente
renderci disponibile il file..?

[Qgis-user] Problems with adding WFS layers

2016-08-22 Per discussione Chris Buckmaster
Hi

Not sure if this is a QGIS or Geoserver issue...

I have a WFS provided through Geoserver v2.5 - I have no issues adding layers
from the WFS using QGIS v2.14, but in QGIS v2.16 I am encountering some
problems with a selection of layers (within a specific Geoserver store).

The store which holds the layers that are not loading has the 'Expose primary
keys' option ticked whereas others do not that are loading ok (I need to expose
the primary keys), would this cause any problems? Below is the error I am
getting when trying to access layers from this store...

2016-08-22T14:44:41 1 Server generated an exception in GetFeature response:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to get property: axisLabels
Failed to get property: axisLabels
java.lang.String cannot be cast to com.vividsolutions.jts.geom.Geometry
2016-08-22T14:44:41 1 Download of features for layer
planning:tree_preservation_orders failed or partially failed: Server generated
an exception in GetFeature response: java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to get
property: axisLabels

may attempt reloading the layer with F5

2016-08-22 Per discussione ludo
Hi all

I don't know if it's the best way to say that but on the french part of qgis
website if we choose download we have qgis 2.16.0 instead of 2.16.1 like on the
english part of the website.

[Qgis-user] Fwd: Mapnik, QGIS and some other problems

2016-08-22 Per discussione Oliver Andjelkovic
Hello,

I have problem or "lack of knowledge" related to the mapnik installation
over pip. I am using Win 8.1 and QGIS 2.14 and I have tried to install
mapnik package through OSGeo4W shell with simple command "pip install
mapnik". Well that went pretty well, but when I try to run script that call
mapnik from python commander in QGIS i get this message: "DLL load failed:
The specified module could not be found. See log for more details".

So, in log it stays:

 "Uncaught error while executing algorithm

Also, I always get Python error and processing error when QGIS starting.

[Qgis-user] Help files for processing

2016-08-22 Per discussione Niccolò Marchi
Hi all,
please, do someone know where I can find instructions on how to write help
files for processing algorithms?

I found only documentation on how to do it for personal scripts (xxx.help.py)
but the same procedure doesn’t work with processing algs. Any suggestion?

Furthermore, I saw that some of the providers connect to online html resources:
is that a problem to create help files copy/pasting from the online pdf the
software has?
The software (FUSION) is free, so I imagine that the only thing to care of is
to keep the reference. Am I wrong?

Thank you in advance and have a nice day,

Nic

Ovviamente:
Saluti.
