Re: [rt-users] Rt3.8 package for debian

2008-08-18 Thread johan baarman
Hi Andrew,

Yes, I found your instructions later while browsing the email-archive.
Since this is a fresh install I went ahead and upgraded to lenny at
the same time. It worked like a charm except when initializing the
database. It was complaining that Can't locate Email/Address.pm in
@INC... I figured it was missing package libemail-address-perl and
after starting RT there were also an error about missing Graphviz so I
also had to install package libgraphviz-perl. It's running fine now,
thanks to your package.

 Hi Johan,

The packages that Emmanuel Lacour have built only include the required
dependencies for Etch (they're already present for Lenny).

I've built some RT 3.8.1rc5 packages which I've been using on Lenny.
I've back-ported them to Etch, but haven't tested them on Etch. Feel
free to try using them (you'll need Emmanuel's repo as well for Etch).
Please let me know if there are any issues.

The lines for your apt sources.list file are:

 deb http://debian.etc.gen.nz etch rt

 or

 deb http://debian.etc.gen.nz lenny rt

 Cheers!

[rt-users] Using rt-crontool to send Timed Notifications

2008-08-18 Thread Dave Wells
Hi,

We are using rt-crontool to send timed notifications based on different
criteria either to owners of tickets or queue groups after a period of
inactivity in some form.

The way we do this is to use RT::Action::RecordComment
http://wiki.bestpractical.com/view/RecordComment as the action of
rt-crontool to add a comment to the ticket using a template and also
email the owner or queue group.

However I have been asked if there is any way that everything can run as
before with mails being sent to owner/queue group but without the
comment on the ticket being added. I have attempted using SendEmail or
Notify as the action for rt-crontool but it does not seem to work at
all.

Does anyone know where i am going wrong or is there a better way to do
this?

Thanks
Dave

[rt-users] SelfService ticket customization

2008-08-18 Thread Monti gmail
I am looking for a solution to prevent system messages to be displayed to
SelfService users.
for example, when a user takes a ticket, the following messages is
displayed in the ticket log:
DATE USER - Taken
DATE USER - Priority changed to 10
etc.

I want SelfService users to see only corespondances to a ticket, not the
system messages.

is there a way to implement it?

thanks,

Motti.

[rt-users] RFC: Optional extra fields in ticket creation?

2008-08-18 Thread Richard Hartmann
Hi all,

when I create tickets, I usually need to go to the ticket just created
and assign it a priority various dependencies. What I would love to
have is one of those up/down arrows to click upon which then fold
a few extra fields in/out using Javascript.

Could others use something like this, as well?

Hi Richard,

To clarify, are you talking about the Quick Create form?

The standard Create Ticket page has the Show basics / Show details
links in the upper-right to do what you're asking.

Re: [rt-users] Rt at Glance and upgrade from 3.2.1 to 3.8.0

2008-08-18 Thread Jean-Michel Barbet
Ruslan Zakirov wrote:
 1) try 3.8.1rc5
 2) do you upgrade mysql as well?

Hi Ruslan,

No, I did not try 3.8.1rc5, I am still with 3.8.0.
What I am doing is transfering the RT databse from a server under
Fedora Core release 2 (Tettnang), MySQL-server-4.0.20-0, RT 3.2.1
to a distinct newly installed server under Scientific Linux SL release
5.2 (Boron) (equivalent to a RHEL 5.2) with mysql-server-5.0.45-7.el5
and RT 3.8.0.

Finally I made a satisfying migration by doing the following :

1) dump separately the data and the structure of existing RT3.2.1
database
2) load the structure only on the new RT (not the data)

3) run a scrip that declares the column type to UTF8 for each field
that I want to be preserved because it is already in UTF8;
do not modify the table default character yet (example for the
column Subject of table Attachments :
USE rt3;
ALTER TABLE Attachments MODIFY Subject VARBINARY(255) NULL DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE Attachments MODIFY Subject VARCHAR(255) CHARACTER SET utf8
NULL DEFAULT NULL;

4) load the data on the new RT

5) create and run the mySQL upgrade script :

perl etc/upgrade/schema.mysql-4.0-4.1-new.pl rt3 rt_user x \
mysqlupgrade.sql
mysql -u root -p rt3 mysqlupgrade.sql

6) upgrade the schema :

/opt/rt3/sbin/rt-setup-database --dba root \
--prompt-for-dba-password --action upgrade
[...]
Enter RT version you're upgrading from: 3.2.1
[...]

7) restart server

rm -fr /opt/rt3/var/mason_data/obj
service httpd restart

With this procedure, I am happy :-)

Your comments are welcome.

Especially, should I use 3.8.1rc5 for production rather than 3.8.0 ?
and why ...

Thank you very much.

In the above error message the word boguspassword is the plain text
representation of the password that I typed in. Which is not my real
password and should not allow me to login. But if I press F5 in my
browser and resubmit the information I am then successfully logged in to
RT under my account.
Obviously I have configured something in a bad way. But I can't figure
out what.
About two months ago I was trying to get RT to authenticate against
Active Directory. I tried to install RT::Authen::ExternalAuth but it
never finished successfully. Nonetheless part of the installation must
have worked because I have an $RTHOME/local/etc/Authen-ExternalAuth/
directory. Searching the archives makes me believe the error message
above is in some way related to external authentication. I have not
manually modified $RTHOME/etc/RT_SiteConfig.pm in any way to use
external authentication.
RT version is 3.6.6

[rt-users] rt-shredder cli

2008-08-18 Thread Alfred M. Szmidt
Hi!

How on earth does one use the rt-shredder utility? There is an example:

| rt-shredder --plugin 'Tickets=status,deleted;queue,general'

But according to `rt-shredder --plugin help-Tickets', queue, status
have been dropped infavour of queue:

| Arguments `queue', `status' and `updated_before' have been dropped as
| you can easy make the same search with the `query' option. See
examples
| above.

Cheers, Alfred.

It's almost the same, query, (sql).. here's an example of my Spam Queue
with a date limit, record limit still works the same. I agree there
should be a bit more explanation, I had to look at the source to get a
better idea.

rt-shredder --plugin Tickets=query,Queue = 'Spam' AND LastUpdated
'$SDATE';limit,$SLIMIT --sqldump $ARCHIVEPATH/spam-$DATE.sql --force

The last changes I was making was to get external authentication to
Active Directory working.I tried installing RT::Authen::ExternalAuth
but it never finished successfully. I did install Bundle::Net::LDAP
sucessfully.

Re: [rt-users] Silly question - what does the star mean in rt3.8.1?

2008-08-18 Thread Graham Ballantyne
The star is a bookmark. You can have a saved search on your home page
that shows all bookmarked tickets.

On 18-Aug-08, at 15:23 , Rainer Duffner wrote:

 Hi,

in the new version, each ticket has a star on the top right corner of
the ticket-view that can be activated or deactivated.
What purpose is that feature for?

This may sound silly, but I don't get it and there's no tooltip
 about it ;-)

3.8.1 is working quite well so far - I installed the RC5 over the
weekend and helpdesk staff hasn't complained about anything, except
maybe that styling is now a bit too gray for some tastes.
Going back to the 3.4 design is really painful, though ;-)

 Rainer

Re: [rt-users] RT38 not maintaining authentication (with RT::Authen::ExternalAuth)

2008-08-18 Thread David Hobley
Graham,

Thanks for that - this workaround (which was not required for us in 3.6.6) has
stopped the issue now, although I'll monitor it over the next couple of hours
and let you know whether it is working in the longer term or not.

Cheers,
David

RT::Authen::ExternalAuth)

This has been happening to me as well, but with the built-in
authentication. I was able to work around it by setting
Set($WebSessionClass, 'Apache::Session::File'); in RT_SiteConfig.pm,
but I'd really like to know what's happening as well.

We've seen a similar issue with our current 3.6.3 install; we use CAS
(Central Authentication Service; http://www.ja-sig.org/products/cas/)
to handle campus-wide single sign-on and we'll often have RT kick us
back out to the CAS login screen and CAS won't be able to re-
authenticate us until several login attempts have passed. It's gotten
so bad that we've cron'd a RT restart every couple of hours. I'm
hoping that 3.8.1 would help, but after hearing your report...

 All,

I am just testing the new RT 3.8.1 prior to rolling it out to the
users here. I have configured ExternalAuth to use our LDAP server
(only) and now while I can successfully log in, everytime I click on
anything it takes me back to the login screen.

I note on the Wiki that Mike talks about RT::Authen::CookieAuth with
regards keeping the session logged in, but I didn't think I should
need this? I thought the base RT maintained logged in status?

Any pointers as to where I could look to work out what is happening?
