Thanks Wendy I'd forgotten all about whooping cough although I should
have remembered it as I can remember it giving me a very hard time as
a child. As I'm now well into my 60's I guess any immunity this bout
could have given me would have long since worn off.

Thanks also for the url's - very interesting reading and worth keeping

I think my zinc and selenium levels are ok but I will certainly see
about taking some good doses of ascorbic acid and vit, A to see it
this will help.

CS>[List Owner] Politics and appropriate response

2007-04-19 Thread M. G. Devour
Dear Frankie, Day, and everyone,

Frankie posted:
> > Here's a video of a song about 9/11. When we understand what's going

Day responded:
> Mike; somehow I didn't think you would allow this type of Communist

Let's clear up a couple of items...

I would like both of you, Day and Frankie, to visit www.silverlist.org
and read the List Rules, List Etiquette, and Discipline policy
sections. In particular, please study the subsections on Prohibited
Topics, Correcting Others, and Fixing Problems.

Frankie, politics is an inappropriate subject for the main list except
for the occasional brief heads-up message on issues directly related to
CS or to important alternative health matters. Debates over 9/11 or any
other politically oriented controversy are clearly outside the list
mission and are guaranteed to incite discord. So they're not allowed.

Day, it is appropriate to bring your complaints about other list
members' behavior, or anything else about how the list is being run, to
me in private e-mail, not to the main list.

In this case, you have assumed that I "would allow" the offending post,
apparently not recognising that I do not pre-screen messages. How do
you think your messages echo back to you within minutes of your posting
them? They wouldn't if I was personally filtering them all!

No, I deal with such matters after the fact, and most often privately,
invisibly to all but the person needing the correction. I depend on
every member to learn the ropes, regulate themselves and behave
responsibly.

Your best contribution in this situation is to send me a private heads-
up to make sure I catch on to what's happening as soon as possible, and
to NOT respond on list.

This message from me represents a part of the natural assistance that I
give to members as needed so that they learn the rules and culture of
the group. I hope both of you, and anyone else unfamiliar with these
things, will learn from this incident so I don't need to correct you.

For those who want desperately to discuss politics or other prohibited
topics, or to extend and deepen non-CS-related alternative health
subjects, I offer the Silver Off Topic list, which you can also read
about on the list web site.

A final reminder: A link to the list web site and my e-mail address are
included in the footer that is attached near the bottom of *EVERY*
message sent out by the list server, so you'll always be able to find
them when you need to.

Thank you very much, everyone, for your patience, for your concern and
for contributing.

Be well!

Congratulations on getting a distiller! I still buy all mine. The money
I've spent could have bought me several by now, I'm sure.

Members with experience have consistenly recommended removing the
charcoal post-filter. It will likely add some impurities back into the
water. Not unhealthy for drinking purposes, probably, but disruptive to
your process.

Not filling the resevoir all the way is another suggestion that has
been offered many times. It will keep boiling water from splashing on
the condensing surfaces and becoming entrained in the condensate as it
flows out of the unit.

Sounds like you've already hit the major steps, both of which are
probably appropriate.

Let us know what you get. Also, don't hesitate to re-distill the other
batches, too. It'd be interesting to see what kind of numbers you get.

Be well,

Mike D.

I bought a $25 rebounder from WAL-MART about 10 years ago. It is still
working, no side rails and pretty light. As I have gained weight I read about
the
problems with cheap rebounders so bought a new model that says it will take 250
pounds. I was afraid of the light rebounder breaking during exercise. My three
year old grandson has a great time with the light weight rebounder. I try the
light weight rebounder every now and then and to tell the truth I can't tell
any difference. The problem is having the lightweight collapse during
exercise.

Some years ago my husband bought a rebounder from a man who was a customer. The
man loved his, said a few minutes in the morning woke him up, a few minutes at
night made him sleep all night. Of course we noticed no difference in anything.
We both got injured and so it remains under the bed, collecting dust. My guess

Hi Frankie

The ohm meter goes between the batteries and one of the sliver wires. Make
sure you switch it to mA before you connect it to the batteries. The meter
comes with directions. If you go to Radio Shack they can help explain how
to read voltage or amperage. Simply run your batch until the meter reads
3.6ma @ 36volts When it does disconnect it, you are done. Good Luck

You can cut off the probes on the leads and add alligator clips in their

Subject: CS>Battery CS Maker

Thanks Garry. You've given me something to think about! I must say I'm a
bit flummoxed. I'm just your average housewife type person who can't
remember a sodding thing I learned in chemistry, except the bunson burner,
LOL, but I'm learning loads reading about colloidal silver.

So I have to buy an ohms meter, connect it to my batteries and find out what

voltage, or is it amperage? What's the difference. Don't answer that one
please, I'm confused enough as it is :).

I tried using the calculator link you gave. Thanks for that. I'm sure it
will make sense when I know what I'm doing with it. I typed in 36 volts
(thinking that four 9v batteries would be 36v), and then typed in 1 in
the ohms box and got a reading of 0.0036 amps, which is the current. So
basically all it does is divide the voltage by 1. So once I get a
reading for the current or the amperage, what then? I suppose this is
something that you have to ACTUALLY DO, to understand any of the terminology

or process. I mean, how does all this amperage etc. relate to ppm of CS?
Doesn't the ppm of CS depend upon the TIME that the current is running
through the water? Does this ohms meter measure ppm CS? I'm very confused
as you can tell. LOL.

Frankie

==
From: "Garry Hobart"

You can get a quick down and dirty approximation of 5ppm by making
cs to 15,000ohms or 10ppm by making it to 10,000ohms. Buy an inexpensive
digital volt/ohm meter, then measure your actual battery voltage. Use
ohms law to calculate the amperage (calculators available on the web)
for either 10K or 15K ohms. Put your ohm meter in your circuit in series,
and set to Ma (milliamps) and run your batch until the number you are
reading is the same as the one the calculator gave you. No more guessing.
Also a fish tank bubbler or other stirring method would be a good idea.
Use only distilled water of course. Good luck. Oh, I shut of the power
and gently remove either of the wires. Not sure if it makes a difference
but there is a slight potential there...

+ --o silver wire
___battery

- --OHM METER---o silver wire

36v @ 10Kohms = 3.6Ma
36v @ 15Kohms = 2.4Ma

Here's an ohms law calculator

2007-04-19 Thread Ronald (& Susan) Hart

Vince was a biochemist
working alongside another biochemist, John Wasson, trying to improve
the bioavailablitiy of cetylmristoleate and putting it into a
convenient oral form. They were successful. The original liquid injectable
product, cetlymristoleate, was discovered by Dr. Harry Diehl about
30-35 years ago.  So - both were involved. Actually, as I understand
it,  in late 1998 under legal proceedings, Vince Gammel and a couple of
others were forced to give up any rights to the CMO trademark , etc.
Dr. Len Sands was reprotedly the first person to actually take the

CS>Fw: AAHF's Response to FDA CAM Regulation Guidance

FDA CAM Regulation Guidance
- Original Message -
From: Healthfreedom.net
To: Paula Perry

Subject: AAHF's Response to FDA CAM Regulation Guidance

American Association for Health Freedom and the Health Freedom Foundation
are very concerned with the FDA document 2006D-0480 - Draft Guidance for
Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their
Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration (read FDA Summary). The full
text of the CAM Guidance can be read here. (Adobe Acrobat required).

A guidance like this is very confusing and there are legal issues that must
be carefully examined and responded to in writing. Therefore, as a first
step, we have officially requested the FDA extend the deadline for comment
to July 31, 2007. The time the FDA has provided for comment is simply too
short for something this complex and important. We are working with
Congress to ask them to have FDA extend the comment period. Click here to
read our letter to the FDA requesting an extension.

CLARIFICATION
We wanted to clarify that much of the regulation proposed in the document
has already been claimed by the FDA. For example, making health claims as
it pertains to dietary supplements and foods is currently not permitted, and
people who do so are vigorously pursued by both the FDA and the Federal
Trade Commission.

MAJOR CONCERNS
While we have several concerns with the CAM Regulation Guidance, the two
biggest are broadening the definition of "health claim" and the desire to
pre-empt the states in the regulation of some health care issues.

Example: The document attempts to define how vegetable juice might be
defined as a drug, "This means, for example, if a person decides to produce
and sell raw vegetable juice for use in juice therapy to promote optimal
health, that product is a food subject to the requirements for food in the
Act and FDA regulations...If the juice therapy is intended for use as part
of a disease treatment regimen instead of for the general wellness, the
vegetable juice would be subject to regulation as a drug under the Act."

The FDA defines a drug as "...(B) articles intended for the use in the
diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease in man or
other animals; and (C) articles (other than food) intended to affect the
structure or any function of the body of man or other animals.

What the FDA is stating is that they believe that any person (or product)
that states "drink some vegetable juice to prevent [insert disease]" is
actually making a drug claim; and if vegetable juice is not recognized by
the FDA as a legally available drug in the United States, the person (or
manufacturer) making the claim is now subject to prosecution if they are not
a medical professional licensed to practice medicine.

Who is going to fund a $50,000 investigational new drug application to get
carrot juice approved as a drug, or the follow-on millions in research
dollars to conduct a study on the toxicity ($200,000) and efficacy of carrot
juice ($3 million and up.) Keep in mind this would have to be done
separately for any disease process carrot juice might have an impact on.

WHY NOW?
Why did the FDA create this document? There are a couple of theories. One
is that the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine
(NCCAM) asked the FDA to "harmonize" with their way of thinking. Another
idea is that importation of products (which is a major concern to the FDA)
will soon be a top issue. Functional foods could also be a target (as
forewarned by the FDA December meeting on functional foods - read about our
response and presentation). Regardless of the why, we do know that the
health freedom community was not consulted in the preparation of the
document. Furthermore, the clumping of food, products, medical devices, and
therapies makes for an awkward, confusing, and unconstitutional "way of
thinking" and does not represent what is best for the consumer.

THE IMPACT
The draft guidance, when finalized, will represent the agency's current
thinking on the regulation of complementary and alternative medicine
products by FDA. Though it does not change the law, it does represent a
potential major expansion on how foods, therapies, and products could be
regulated. Of further concern, is that this document could be used by health
freedom "opposition" and regulators to pressure Congress to change
legislation. The language in the document gives us great concern and we
cannot allow an agency such as the FDA to finalize the document in its
present form.

ACTION
The comment period expires on April 30. It has been our experience that
citizen letters to the FDA during the comment period rarely have an impact
on the FDA's decision-making process. This is important to know, since the
appropriate response to this situation is not to just be busy (as in writing
letters to the FDA) but to be effective. What the FDA has told us is that
they wa

CS>Re: Rebounder brand.

2007-04-19 Thread Charles Marcus

So I'm asking, is there ANY acceptable rebounder around $100 U.S.?
Is there ANY beneficial lymph effect to be had from a Walmart
rebounder? I had one of those many years ago, but could not use it
due to knee pain. However, way back then, I was only trying to "run"
on it for excercise, not for the lymph effects I'd like to try one
for in the present.
Because of my knee, hip, and back problems I am really unsure if I
could even use one for gentle bouncing with the feet never leaving
the surface, so I don't really want to spend money I can ill afford
at this point for something I may well be unable to use at all.
thanks for recommendations, opinions, comments,

One of the problems with the cheap ones is the material the mat is made
from. It stretches, causing your feet/ankles/knees a lot of stress.

That stress would still be there to a degree, even if you were bouncing
without your feet leaving the mat.

That said - maybe you could place a small flat board wrapped in a
blanket on top of the mat (wrapped in a blanket to keep any sharp edges
from tearing the mat), and stand on that while you bounced? This would
only work if you were gently bouncing without your feet leaving tha mat.

This would definitely give your lymph a decent workout - heck, just
alternating standing on tip toes will help move the lymph.

So, by all means, if you cannot afford one of the good ones, in my
opinion this would still be of significant benefit for moving the lymph.

Upcoming legislation that will severely affect your health choices.
- Original Message -
From: Healthfreedom.net

Subject: Upcoming legislation that will severely affect your health choices.

AAHF/HFF rarely asks you to take action on a bill BEFORE it is even
introduced, but occasionally we come across a piece of legislation that we
consider so horrendous that we must act before it is even introduced.
Unfortunately, Senators Kennedy (D/MA) Burr (R/NC) and Roberts (R/KS), among
others are considering legislation that would severely restrict and possibly
deny your access to critical medications. Act today to protect patient
access to compounded medicines. Send your letters today to your Senators
with a copy going to Senators Kennedy, Burr, and Roberts.

About the Bill
Just as everybody has a unique fingerprint, so is our response to various
pharmaceuticals and other healing modalities. No reasonable person can
expect a mass produced pharmaceutical to address all the subtle nuances of
varying human physiology - but that is not stopping Big Pharma, the FDA, and
Congress from trying to take away your right to individualized medicine.

If this legislation passes, federal regulators, not your doctor, will decide
what medicines you can take. Do you really want to leave your customized
medicine needs in the hands of bureaucrats in the government? We cannot
stand idly by while our pharmacists and doctors are forced to become mere
dispensers of a few heavily-advertised, one-size-fits-all pharmaceutical
products.

Among other things, the so-called Safe Drug Compounding Act of 2007 would
give the Food and Drug Administration the power to:
Broadly eliminate the availability of many critical, commonly compounded
medications that many patients rely on, such as bioidentical hormones for
women, hospice care treatments for the terminally ill and customized
medicines for children.
Determine when compounded medicines are needed - a decision that has always
been and should always be made by doctors.
Restrict the compounded medications your doctor can prescribe even if he or
she determines you need them.
According to the Washington, D.C. political magazine Congressional
Quarterly, pharmaceutical manufacturers are in "high lobby mode" in support
of this legislation. From what we understand, hospitals are staying silent,
anticipating that they will be exempt from this bill. We are working with
doctor groups, compounding pharmacist organizations, consumer groups, and
women associations among others, but it's not enough. We are up against a
highly organized, well-funded front and we need you to stop them.

A Sample of Those Affected
Menopausal women and andropausal men, the Autistic community, individuals
living with HIV/AIDS, hospice patients, infants and young children with
conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and people who are
extremely allergic or sensitive to fillers, dyes, and additives in medicines
will be left with no choice.

What can you do?
If you or someone you know depends on compounded medications, act now to
stop this dangerous legislation!

1. Write your elected representatives in Congress. Use AAFH's easy-to-use
tool to write your members of Congress. REMEMBER: It's critical that you
personalize your letter. Tell your own story. Tell them how you rely on
compounded medicines and what your life would be like without them.
2. Tell a friend. Even if your friends and relatives don't rely on
compounded medicines themselves, they still have a loved one - you - who
does. That's their story to tell. Please encourage them to tell their
representatives in Congress.
3. Tell more friends. The best weapon we have in this fight is you. You
are involved in the patient/doctor relationship. Yours is the story that
Congress cannot ignore. The more people we can get to unite in support of
compounded medicines, the better our chances of winning will be.
4. Show your support with a financial contribution and/or join AAHF today.
In order to do all the things that we will need to do over the next few
months (and particularly the next few weeks), we need funds. This is an
unexpected fight and we need to act fast and we have to think outside of the
box!
5. Keep updated! Listen to our lobbyist, Dr. William Duncan on the Deborah
Ray show on April 4th in the afternoon - find out more information or listen
online at www.healthytalkradio.com.

Please get involved in this struggle - we can't do it without you.

This issue is fundamentally about the right of the consumer to choose and
the practitioner to practice. It will take a very large grassroots movement
to make Congress sit up and hear us. It happened in 1994 with DSHEA and can
happen again in 2007! Your voice does count. Please contact Congress today.

Additional information and action items will be developed shortly. Please

Re: CS>anti phospho lipid antibody syndrome

2007-04-19 Thread M. G. Devour
Dear Lisa,

Boy, the silence is profound.

You write:
> anti phospho lipid antibody syndrome, does anyone know of a remedy or
> relief, or how to treat it to any extent? someone is waiting for cancer
> surgery and they say they cant operate until this is alleviated,
> relieved, or not at all, and he will face death.

Google turns up many hits on this syndrome. Does he have primary or
secondary antiphospholipid antibody syndrome? I.E., does he have an
underlying autoimmune disorder, such as Lupus Erythematosus, of which
the syndrome is a symptom or complication, or is the syndrome the
primary condition? Are his platelets low? Where or in what way are the
antibodies attacking him?

Also, can you describe the cancer? I think that people here would
likely be eager to share information on alternative cancer therapies.

Being the syndrome is an autoimmune disease with systemic effects, and
considering that he has cancer, which is normally the result of
extensive disordering of his internal state, aggressive wholistic
approaches are what you are most likely to hear about.

One example would be Gerson therapy, that eliminates toxic and
allergenic inputs, aids the body's detox processes, and provides
extensive nutritional support.

It's unlikely there is a band-aid approach that will fix one aspect of
his condition. He needs to rebuild from the bedrock on up.

I hope there might be some input from others. What you describe,
though, is a complex situation that most students of alternative health
are doing their best to avoid rather than have to treat.

Of course, anything complimentary or alternative that he does will need
to be coordinated with his medical team, to whatever extent they are
prepared to cooperate. Study everything you can until you are very sure
of the reliability of the information and any risks involved.

Please let us know more, and any way that we may help.

Be well,

I recently purchased a distiller,   on the second batch  my "distilled water"  measures 9.2 ppm  on the Com 100    The filtered water I began with measured 762 ppm    and the unfiltered water at 783.   So the distiller is doing something,  but not enough to use for CS.     Do you think dropping to 3 qts will rectify this situation  or should I remove the carbon filter at the spout?

Yes my previously diabetic wife takes them. She got her lab results back
from the Doctor about a week ago, and her blood sugar was normal, and
tested as being normal for the last 3 months, without taking any of the
prescription diabetic pills. I also take them if the meal has a lot of
starch in it, like a pizza, potatoes, or bread to avoid gaining weight.

It was suggested that I use it by my primary care doctor.
She feels that because I have hyperinsulinism problems...a carb
blocker would help me with my weight loss .

She wanted to write a prescription but instead I purchased a natural
product.
The brand is Natrol...and it seems that it is made up of a white bean
substance.

How bad could that be?
It is natural. What it does it inactivate the enzyme the body produces
to break down starches into simple sugars for absorption. Since it only
affects starches, the nutrients in the food are unaffected.

So I have started taking the capsule today...took one before breakfast.

I would appreciate any info on carb blockers ...thanks again...v.
I had posted a link a couple of weeks ago on comparison between the
different brands. We use Phase II, although it only rated about #5 or so
on the list because it is readily available in a number of brands locally.

CS>Battery CS Maker

2007-04-19 Thread joe bloggs
Thank you Kathryn. I've had some great advice on here. Sounds like I'm
gonna have to get some kind of meter reader or something.

From: Clayton Family

I use a 3 nine generator, I like the do-it-myself thing.

I used some instructions like this, and used a flashlight to see-
otherwise I couldn't tell the yellowish wisps. I think with these
insructions you don't have to stir. Stirring does not affect the rate
of ion release. When you want a higher ppm brew, you can add one, it
helps keep the cute little ions away from each other and the other
pesky electrode, on which they will plate out, and be removed from your
solution.

For stirring, I got a nite light for the bathroom, the kind that uses a
clear xmas tree lightbulb, and put a hole in a bean dip can to put the
bulb through. Now I have a thermal stirrer I can set my jar on. A
pineapple can may be better, it is a little heavier.

Sometimes I still get a buildup of tan stuff on one electrode, and if I
disconnect the correct wire, it will get it to stick a little better so
it doesn't drift off into the water so much when I remove it. If I
disconnect the wrong wire, it will just make more. So I think I
disconnect the blackish wire, and leave the tan one hooked up. I forget
which polarity it is.

15 or 20 minutes to start sounds okay to me.

I got a margerine lid to hold my electrodes, and space them 2 inches or
1& 3/4 inches apart.

After awhile of making it this way, I decided to control the current
better, and went down to the local Ax Man and picked up a variable
resistor called a potentiometer and hooked it up in series. I got a
better grip on the current that way, and didn't have to watch it so
close. I think mine is 75 ohm. I also use a multimeter to check on how
things are going current wise, also in series. Then I got a
microseimans meter, and look out, she's going for the gold ring now!

I am one happy camper.

Good Luck, Kathryn

CS>Battery CS Maker

2007-04-19 Thread joe bloggs

LOL.

From: "Garry Hobart"

You can get a quick down and dirty approximation of 5ppm by making
cs to 15,000ohms or 10ppm by making it to 10,000ohms. Buy an inexpensive
digital volt/ohm meter, then measure your actual battery voltage. Use
ohms law to calculate the amperage (calculators available on the web)
for either 10K or 15K ohms. Put your ohm meter in your circuit in series,
and set to Ma (milliamps) and run your batch until the number you are
reading is the same as the one the calculator gave you. No more guessing.
Also a fish tank bubbler or other stirring method would be a good idea.
Use only distilled water of course. Good luck. Oh, I shut of the power
and gently remove either of the wires. Not sure if it makes a difference
but there is a slight potential there...

+ --o silver wire
___battery

- --OHM METER---o silver wire

36v @ 10Kohms = 3.6Ma
36v @ 15Kohms = 2.4Ma

Here's an ohms law calculator

Is simple to cut Scotch-Brite to the size you need.

Does a good job without removing too much silver.
