The logitechmediaserver-?.?.?-??.tgz is the filename, to
download and used with QLogitechMediaServer.
And that should be the file placed in the Download share of you're QNap,
to do a mannuel up/down graded with QLogoitechMediaServer.
As explained the one to download, and put inside the share.

The filename with -arm-linux inside or any other, is never used or
should be used, as QLogitechMediaServer wont know what to do wiith it.

Inside logitechmediaserver-?.?.?-??.tgz all the several flavors
are in including the arm's

Thats exactly how the correct ones for my TS219P are named, however now
that its all up and running I can see that within the Backup folder they
are named logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-1600144351.tgz, so the differation
on the Nightly site is that they end in -arm-linux whereas once backed

OK, thanks for pointing this out. So, if I understood right I´ll have
the possibility to rollback with the backed up files or - if I move one
of the backed up files or download the newest nightly from slimdevices
and put it in the standard download share - I can "force" a installation
of that exact version.

Thanks, but this is clear. The question was: where is the process of
up-/downgrade via file in download share explained? It is not in the
README_ON_TROUBLE file. What kind of file has to be placed there? File
extension .tgz? Is it the normal download file from the
slimdevices/nightly page?
In my case for example
"logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-1600144351-arm-linux.tgz"?

But I think, I can answer myself and perhaps a few others the question
now.
I found something in the "QLogitechMediaServer version 2.x Help-file".
Perhaps Digimaster can place the actual one as a text file into the
installation root like the README_ON_TROUBLE file.

Here is a part of the answer:

QLogitechMediaServer version 2.x Help-file

[ command line options ]
...
...

./QlogitechMediaServer.sh upgrade

When there is a upgrade file available, will do a upgrade.
FOR A DOWNGRADE, PLACE THE FILE IN THE DOWNLOADSHARE, THEN WILL NOT
CHECK ON INSTALLED VERSION OF LMS !
( Will handle a upgraded, and if LMS is running will stop if first )

./QlogitechMediaServer.sh rollback

Lets you rollback, to earlier installed release of LMS if they have been
installed.
Will show a menu, where you can choice a older version. ( Only if that
version was installed earlier )
( Very usfull if a new release is causing trouble, don't forget to
disable updates with NOUPDATE=0 to stop updating/upgrading ! )

I don't know if this will help Linux-disabled people like me, but I made
a share of the LMS folder under .qpkg catalogue on my NAS.
It makes it easier to change and handle the files, and also to back them

Only the Logitech Media Server: Unix Tarball (i386, x86_64, i386
FreeBSD, ARM EABI, PowerPC) is the file, which you can download and use
for it.

Another way is to set NIGHTLY=0, then it will only download major

do a manual up- downgraded by placing the file in the download share of
you're Qnap system. Then start or stop/start QLogitechMediaServer
through the app center will install and start lms with that version. And

Thanks blackbite, its downloading now hopefully it will work.

Unfortunately I am a total Linux newbie, so have no idea how to check
for the correct permissions. What doesn't help is that the ouput from
./QLogitechMediaServer.sh keeps outputing weird characters which I think
are meant to produce either colors or move text around inside the
terminal. I am getting the colors from standard commands so I don't
know why this script is having trouble.

I am connecting to my NAS via windows, and neither telnet or putty seem
to help with these weird codes. I don't really know anything about
xterm, xterm-256color etc. But from googling, there was a ls... command
to show me what terminal configurations where present and only xterm was
there.

Check rights/attributes of backup files
and check the .QLMS.conf for setting
ARCHIVE=1

For me the rollback did exactly what I wanted.

Perhaps Digimaster himself can further assist you. Otherwise I would
wait for the next nightly and install QLMS again. It will then check for
the latest nightly and install it.

Another try is to download the fixed http.pm from the repo and replace
this in your existing installation. Phillipe44 has written some infos on
that in the commit changes.
Search under the nightly build pages.

Good luck

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer for Qnap x86_64 with qts 4.2 or higher

2020-09-05 Thread Stone Free

Not sure if I'm imagining it as I thought that was an improvement it
seemed to say it was going to upgrade to 8.0.0-1598791476, thought I saw
that on screen, but then later it talked about up/downgrading and then
listed one of the later numbers of the versions that don't work, and I
cannot see reference in my logs to my last working version.

Also even after chaning those settings in the config file it keeps going
through the
Code:

[8.8.0] First let's check is there is a update for LogitechMediaServer.

So there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my filename, and you say
it doesnt need to be extracted. So I'm at a loss can you supply your
.QLMS.conf so that I can have the settings correct

2020-09-05 Thread Stone Free

I tried modifying the .QLMS.conf (which is hidden) as follows:

Code:

# Update settings !

NOUPDATE=1# (0) [ When set only manuel update
can be done, or UPDATE=/NIGHTLY= ?.?.? will trigger a update ! ]
  UPDATE=0  # (1)   [ Will check on official update
on every startup, 0 will disable it. ]
  NIGHTLY=0 # (1)   [ Check on NIGHTLY update on
every startup, 0 will disable it. ]
  #NOMAJOR=0# (0) [ When set NIGHTLY wont check a
major level up. Example when set if RELEASE is 7.9.2, NIGHLY will not check
8.0.0 ]

However it fails to start, I don't think the rollback command is doing
anything, and then it keeps trying fallback mode which I don't want it
to do

Bugger just missed your message, I tried to install version 2.21 of
this, hoping that might fix it. Then I did a clean which probably
removed the backup, as I've just tried rollback and it didn't work

Also confused why I don't seem to have a .QLMS.conf in
.qpkg/LogitechMediaServe, yet I do have it in my QLMS_BCKUP_8.0.tgz

Is there a way to get it to install a specific version as from the logs
I know the last working one was 8.0.0-1598791476

Yes, the actual nightly is faulty. I did a ssh into my nas and ran

./QLogitechMediaServer.sh rollback

and downgraded to the last nightly build. For this you have to have a
backup of the last builds in
/share//.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/Backup.
And take care of you settings in the .QLMS.conf file. See here:

./QLogitechMediaServer.sh rollback
Lets you rollback, to earlier installed release of LMS if they have been
installed.
Will show a menu, where you can choice a older version. ( Only if that
version was installed earlier )
( Very usfull if a new release is causing trouble, don't forget to
disable updates with NOUPDATE=0 to stop updating/upgrading ! )

LMS is running and the next nightly will soon be fixed, so you can
reenable the update settings.

Hello,

new here, seeking for advice after running into trouble without having
any idea where to start.
Please don't shoot me, should I be asking the questions in the wrong
way. :-)

My issue is:
After listening to nice music yesterday evening, this morning I the
QLogitechMediaServer did not start anymore.
Not sure what happened that might have caused thi, also the error
messages are too cryptic for me, unfortunately.

Tried to run the a restart, made a clean install, as mentioned in the
README_ON_TROUBLE file, however nothing helped.

I attached 3 files:
1.) How the trouble started
2.) most recent output of the logfile,
3.) most recent log.err file

Any good advice or hints highly appreciated.

Yes the update routine, is changed a bit.
The same for the upgrade routine.
Removed some old stuff, and made some things smaller.

But still everything depenps on the work load of youŕe QNap
Nas-System.
With several thing running in the backGround like Plex,Sabnzbd, lidarr
and more, some times ot can take longer.

First if LMS is installed, will check for example from 9.0.0 down to
8.0.0., Nightly from 9.0 untill 8.0.
Big change in this release, all is done in the memory.

On upgraded first it will do a check on the tar file if its not
corrupted.

But nice to read you noticed the speed.:o

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer for Qnap x86_64 with qts 4.2 or higher

2020-04-20 Thread TinyTommy

Hi,

not entirely sure when this began, but since 2.06 or so the update won't
run properly on my TS112 (latest Firmware).
This is really not a big thing, since I had to do this all the time when
I used SSOTS, but still..

I have to remove the LMS package entirely, restart my NAS and then
manually install your separately downloaded app (x19 for the TS112).
(Adding the QNAPClub as an app source doesn't work either, seems like
the TS112 doesn't fit in properly.)
Like I said, not a big thing as such, but -*saving and restoring my
settings*- is a PITA for me.
More than half of the time something or other of my old settings won't
make it to the new install and I configure it all from scratch.
(Which keeps you on your toes, not bad in times likes this..)

So, in the long run I'd be happier if it all worked automatically.
What, if anything, can I do to try and help idendentify the exact
problem with that update?

Cheers
Thomas

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer for Qnap x86_64 with qts 4.2 or higher

2020-03-24 Thread jasell

Thanks!
Now I'm back in business again.
I was a bit worried that I had to redo all my settings there, but
Imanaged to get it all back.

However I learned some potential pitfalls.

I apparently had nomajor=0 and whenever I was to do a manual restart
that would have triggered the 8.0 upgrade.
As it was the QLMS upgrade was the one triggering this. And who would
have thought that we would ever see an 8.0 release?

I seems like you as part of the upgrade of a Major release perform a
backup of the settings, real good!
But the backup use the version of that we upgrade to, and not what we
"upgrade" from.
When I upgrade (unvoulteringly) upgrade from 7.9.3 to 8.0.0 my settings
was backed up as 8.0.
When I now downgraded to 7.9.3 my settings were again backed up as 7.9.

But when I wanted to restire my setting from my original 7.9.3 system I
had to rename the 8.0 backup to 7.9.

I figured it out but it wasn't strightforward, at least I now run 7.9.3
with my settings from before the QLMS / 8.0 upgrade.

As I now do a manual start from Putty I get a quite feedback.
There are a few line breaks missing, seems like a grep is not used
correct as well.

Should I do something about the "fixing owner/right's the old way"?

@Digimaster
I thought i do some maintenance as I'm just hanging around at home in
these Corona-times...

I saw the 2.10.6 upgrade available on Qnap club, I was on 2.10.2
before.
I proceeded with the upgrade but was stuck on 80% for hours.

So I did a restart of my qnap.
-QLMS did not start by it self.

I entered via Putty and tried to start manually
I got the check for upgrade, new style which seems to tried a bunch of
versions until it settled for 7.9.2
Then, but no download of software was required...
Then a few message of about setting ownership/permission
Then a message launching in background.
But with out success.

I tried additional restart of the Qnap but same as above.

What should I do to get up and running again?

Hello,

I have installed LMS on a HS-453DX but still have my NAS Qnap TS-131
with mediatheque.
I can do a NFS or a CIFS mount between both NAS, I can navigate into the
mount directory into a shell Windows but impossible to access to mount
data from the LMS by adding new repository into the parameter window.

Any idea about LMS really needs to see mount data ?

thanks

Thanks, @digimaster for creating this simple package for QNAP users. I
am a new QNAP user, switched from synology. There has never been an
issue with synology NAS running LMS. It has not been easy with QNAP,
which is odd. This package fills that gap. However, I have been unable
to display unicode on my transporter. The LMS runs on a TVS-471-i3 with
16GB of RAM. I had no such problem with LMS running on a Synology NAS.

Here is the thread where users reported exactly the problem and
solution;

https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103014-Unicode-chars-not-displayed-on-the-Transporter-with-the-latest-LMS-7-9/page2

I can not by myself to solve this, as it is too techinical. Would you be
able to release a fixed version?

Basically the problem is the Transport displays Pinyin, an English
translation of Chinese character. It is scrambled codes.

thanks

not expecting any issues as data will be transported over a 100Mbs/1Gbs

I have my HS-453DX installed and QLMS up and running fine! Very happy so
far. I have only done some very simple playback tests so far (using a
squeezebox touch) and no issues (been away on holiday so no time for
more).

I have an Allo USBridge Signature & Shanti LPS in transit and due very
soon that will be my primary player for my new HS-453DX in my main hi-fi
setup (both to replace my current Vortexbox).

I have not tried (as yet) to do playback direct from the HS-453DX via
USB to my DAC (Oppo BDP-105D). But expect even if that works likely
noisy and not as good as via the Allo USBridge Signature (or the SOtM
USB card output I currently have installed in my existing Vortexbox LMS
server that the HS-453DX will replace)...

Hello,

Finally, has somebody tried to install a LMS server on a HS-251 or a
HS-453DX model ?
I am using today a TS-131 but this NAS is becoming too short with long
time response on LMS request. So, I would need have the last fanless
model with SSD and quad core CPU to speed up response time of the Qnap,
but regarding all manipulation I had done few years ago to install on a
TS-131, I'd just expect it is easier today to install a media server
type LMS on a Qnap ...

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer for Qnap x86_64 with qts 4.2 or higher

2019-12-07 Thread Mycenius

Hi All - quick update and questions; just got my brand new QNAP HS-453DX
NAS and have it up and running with QLMS installed and music library
copied over onto it's local drive(s)! All looking good so far - just
waiting for the new RAID array rebuild to finish before I start testing
initial basic playback with my Squeezebox Touch and start customising
LMS (plugins, etc).

In the meantime couple of quick 'knowledge' questions:

1. -what permissions are needed on the media file folders/directories
(music & playlist libraries) for QLMS to run okay- (e.g. do they need
public read permissions, or is local admin read/write adequate) -
alternately is it just as per usual LMS config? I'm not planning to
share media to other 'servers' from this specific NAS as all my music
playback will be through LMS and it's external hardware & software
players (i.e. squeezebox Touch, Allo USBridge Signature, iPeng software
players on iPhones/iPads, etc). Didn't see any direct reference to this
when searching.

2. And incidentally @digimaster -should the QLMS install have created
the appropriate directories for LMS- that would be created when a normal
LMS install from scratch occurs? It didn't seem to for me FWIW but my
NAS as noted is brand new and only had the default public
folders/directories present and nothing else.

Many TIA.

Thanks for prompt reply @digimaster - Understand - and its great you
have developed this app for the QNAP NAS's. I am planning on needing an
external player (like Sonore or RPi as posted in 'Hardware SqueezeLite
Player Suggestions (USB, Native DSD)'
so I will get the NAS purchased and configured with your
QLogitechMediaServer and then do some tests - if it works great, if not
no problem I'll continue down the separate (SqueezeLite) USB hardware
player route.

Appreciate the prompt response!

2019-11-16 Thread Mycenius

Hi All,

1. Just wondering if anyone can advise if there are any recommended QNAP
models that it's best to use for this?

I currently have a TS-421 running RAID 5 as my main data store (and
music collection back-up location); and am looking to get a second
smaller NAS (2 drives, faster processor than TS-421?) with perhaps a
sonore player (to provide async USB) and replace my existing Vortexbox
Server (which does both) in my hi-fi set up.

2. Does this support DSD / DSF playback okay with the appropriate LMS
plugin?

Appreciate any advice/clarification?

Cheers

2019-11-08 Thread funio

After clean installation of latest qlogitech media server, I've a
problem I had once long time ago. I'v forgotten the correct solution.
during the installation server can't see my music files. I've ts-653 pro
with latest firmware. after searching I found that the problem probably
is about permissions. But how do I change them? using putty? or winscp?
and what are correct permissions? I can follow instructions but I'm
definitely ignorant about linux

Hi,

I just wanted to report a small issue I got with the 02.03.36 version.

I can not longer play Radio Paradise AAC 320+128. The Flac streaming
mixes runs fine. Another function that not works for me is to access
DSD-files (DFS + DFF) on another nas over "Remote Music Libraries". I
reverted back to 02.03.25 and everything works flawlessly again.

LMS Nightly builds and the QLMS are perfect for me. Flexible and high
performing. Thanks guys.

H no so out off the box not.
Would suggested, install latest version.
Logon to ssh shel, go to .qpkg/LogitechmediaServer directory, and run
./QLogitechMediaServer.sh restart.
No look at the screen, and what its telling you.
Keep in mind first always try a clean installation.

And if you still got no clue, upload the 3 logs, so i can have a look.

Hi,

so far I have been using LMS on old TS219 (arm) - the 7.7.2 SSTOS -> fix
routine.sh -> update 7.9.2 way. The NAS has died and I have replaced it
with 453Be (x86). Happy to discovered QLogitechMediaServer. Great
solution!

Unfortunately it doesn't work on my machine (453Be) so far. Installation
finishes but with notification "something went wrong, check the
/share/CHACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Log". That's all I can read drom
the notification popup window. Trying to call LMS via webgui results in
not reachable.

My knowledge is just up to doing some SSH commands copied from
instructions. Do you havy any hint/solution to my problem for getting
QLMS to run? Or better give up because my knowledge is not good enough
and get some Raspberry? :-(

Thank You

I never tried that, so I did now:

Code:

  Auto update offical releases enabled!
  Nightly Releases Auto Update enabled!

My .QLMS.conf is nothing fancy. It's just the default one with NOIMAGE=1
and NOVIDEO=1. And I added some tabs here and there. (mysqueezebox is
temporarily disabled, too. You should NOT disable this!) Maybe check

Hi dolodobendan,

thanks for your input. I´ve checked my file and replaced the spaces into
the correct amount of tabs. That doesn´t change the behaviour. Perhaps I
have to replace the whole file as I have mostly upgraded and haven´t
done a fresh install for a while. In notepad++ I can´t see any

I cannot confirm this. But there's an excessive use of space instead of

Hi digimaster,

look at the image.

There´s no .UPDATE file.

And yes, indeed. QLMS runs / reacts very fast now. I am very happy with
the responsiveness. Great job. :D

Sure it run nice now, more then happy with the result. For me works like
a charm, and react fast. Also in the android app.

But still when adding a new architecture, it takes some new programming.

And one more for the cosmetics...

the parameter config states:

Auto update offical releases enabled!
Nightly Releases Auto Update enabled!

But this is not true, as my QLMS.conf is actually set to:

Code:

UPDATE=0# (1)   [ 0/1 Where on 1 it
will check on officiel update on every startup, 0 will disable it. ]
  NIGHTLY=1   # (0) [ 0/1 Where on 1 it will check
on NIGHTLY update on every startup, 0 will disable it. ]

By the way. The backup parameter is great and works perfectly. QLMS is
getting better and better

The rest looks good, and as you can see tells a lot off you're setup.

The backup command will backup the Cache, prefs, .MusicMagic directories
and
.QLMS.conf. And those are the important things, to rebuild a setup LMS.

Hi digimaster,

thank you for this detailed information. Very helpful to understand.
Will do a backup with your script and see what´s in there. Before I
always backed up the prefs and Cache folders manually.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer for Qnap x86_64 with qts 4.2 or higher

2019-01-27 Thread digimaster

Hi blackbite,

thanks for letting me know.
Sure some times updates are fast.
In the middle of cleanup some codes and routines.

The LMSROOT directory, is very important.
It contains all the needed programs and libraries, which are used/needed
by LMS to run.

The
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/.config/LMSROOT/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA,
is a kind of symlink ( actually is a binded directory with mount ).
Thats also something very important, otherwise LMS can't find you're
music files, or worries can not run.
But don't bother about something in there, its all handled by the
script.
So as long as you don't alter anything there, it wont give any
problems.

No the config file, is in .qpkg/LogitechMediaServer, and named
.QLMS.conf.
There you can chance or adjust things.
The ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh config is just a command, giving you
information.
And on error or trouble, could be very helpful for you but also for me.
Would suggested run ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh config, for me the more
info i get from different QNap model.
The better i can make the script fit all the different flavors of the
models

When you uses ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh backup, it will write a file in
the public share.
This way will survive a uninstall, so one can restore them after a
reinstall.
But can also be helpful, if after a update of a plugin, LMS crashes on
startup.
So would suggested to run the command ,.QLogitechMediaServer.sh backup,
just to have a backup handy.

Due to the trouble with 2.03.20, learned that one can downgrad to a
older version.
You have to download the older version from QAnp club store, go to the
app center, choice QNap Club.
Then follow the Manuel installation, and install it from the file.
This will set it back to the older version, and still if a newer version
is avaible, one can upgraded.

just wantet to commit, that Version 2.03.20 didn´t start on my nas
(avahi daemon & chroot error) and Version 2.03.21 fixed that issue.
Thanks for the fast fix.

Another question: Under
"/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/.config/" i see a
folder named LMSROOT. What is this? Is this the prepared folder for the
configuration backup?

As i see the path
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/.config/LMSROOT/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA
i was hoping that this is just a symlink to the root share and not a
copy.

As always... thanks for your work!

Chers, Blackbite

The READ-Me file, can also be read in the forum.
'READ-Me-file'
(https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108702-QLogitechMediaServer-for-Qnap-with-QTS-4-2-or-higher-and-x86_64-I686-X86-support-!=931294=1#post931294)

The packets can be found on the QNap club store website
'QNap Clud Store, QLogitechMediaServer'

At the right bottom, the downloads are found.
There you can find it
As you're QNap has a Marvell 1.6GHz Processor cpu, you should uses
either arm-x09/19 or the arm-x41 packets.
That depends a bit, on the output of uname -m
arm5te* arm-x09/19
armv7/armhf arm-x41
