I found a 7360x3682 png file, 147 MB, which should qualify as insanely large. LMS loaded it, slowly, and displayed it without any obvious distress. Nothing in the log. If any logging changes would help, I'll be happy to try again. Whatever caused large images to crash LMS in the past, as I have experienced, it must have been filed. I'm running today's build of 8.3. These are images in a music folder, displayed through the Local artwork link in Song Info. Bob is talking about images embedded in music files, so there are differences. I think "ncat" has closing connection down issues and sometimes Windows is not good at frequent TCP setups. The script was just a PoC for a request for a oneline request to get playing data and it must runon WINDOWS. There are plenty of things to be done to make it better (e..g. validate check the MAC address) As the file is now being used for metadata of a playing stream, I'm guessing there is an "outer loop" somewhere repeatedly calling this "ncat command. The problem could be in the repeatedly calling. Could it be calling too often - not shutting down TCP connections properly (it is an issue with ncat scripts). Windows may also be a factor. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116052 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

AFAIK there is no fixed limit, but as coverart is resized to match the player's capabilities and I run LMS on a small CPU I make a habit of reviewing the music files and resize the art to match the maximum display size which is 300x300 for the image included in the music file (used by the player) and 800x800 for the folder (used by the web GUI). gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116043 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Ok, it occurs on the nightly builds as well. I enabled logging, and tracked down the file. It was an ogg file, and although the embedded artwork displayed without issue in my other media player, I just updated the art and rescanned. Error gone. It would be good if that error message included the file name, so that debug logging didn't need to change to identify the culprit. So, I'm back to the experimental build, and the full wipe/re-scan had no complaint. Thanks for that reality check. That makes a lot of sense, and a lot more sense than keeping old graphics files from the days before I used LMS and wasn't concerned about viewing them anywhere but on the desktop where my music library was stored in those days. The problem here is entirely user-generated, like problems with outdated and incompatible metadata tags. In recent years, I have gone through my collection, attempting to get all the tags in order, and on another occasion, trying to correct problems with displayed cover art. Now it's time to deal with the other graphics files in the folders. Not the cover art, but images that can be displayed through the "Local artwork" link in "Song Info." (Is this link only available if you have the Music and Artists Information plugin installed? I've been using MAI so long, I don't remember.) These images can be much larger than 800x800, and sometimes greater detail is appropriate. But there is no point in having files as large as the ones I mentioned earlier. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Any macOS 11/12 user out there?
> Nope. Ok, that makes the difference: with the firewall up I'd be able to run LMS once from my dev folder, then would have to reboot the machine. With firewall off, no such issue. Now even more interesting: if I first add the shipped version to the firewall allow list, then start, I'm fine. If I do the same with a copy in my dev or downloads folder, then even the allow list wouldn't help. If that was reproducible, then we could live with that. But I better figure out how to automate the firewall configuration bit. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
