The primary goal of the Mnenhy project is to make some enhancements to
SeaMonkey/Mozilla MailNews, since there're still plenty of comfort

When reading emails (I have multiple sub folders in my email Boxes) and
news groups when I click on the*next Button (next unread message) it
goes to to next folder and in fact a out line shows around topic but is

actually switch you to the next unread message in next folder (if no
more in Folder you are in) the message would be highlighted and you
could actually read the text.

More likely, they didn't know what they were talking about when they
said SM couldn't do it, and when they fixed their issue, SM was
satisfied and resumed working.

Mostly when they say they don't support a Mozilla product, what they
mean is they don't know enough about how it works to give advice. It

Use Seamonkey as mail client and Firefox as browser

2009-11-22 Thread Serge Popper
When using Seamonkey as mail client, and clicking on URL in an email,
the URL invariably opens in Seamonkey Browser - even when Seamonkey is
not the default browser.
Is there a way to open the URL's, which were sent in email to my
Seamonkey email client, in Firefox?

Re: Send Link and Word Wrap in SM2

2009-11-22 Thread NoOp

On 11/21/09 5:02 AM, Stanimir Stamenkov wrote:

The wrap is only visual. If you observe the source of the message
you'll see the link text is continuous. Copying and pasting it in a
simple plain text editor should also show the text is not broken.
The new wrapping behavior is in effect since Firefox 3.0/Gecko
1.9.0, if I'm not mistaken. Previously Mozilla wrapped text only at
white space which made tables containing such links expand too wide,
 for example.

That's certainly a good rationale for modifying the wrapping.

So as links are never stored/transmitted with hard breaks, there should
be no problems with messages composed in SM2 being read by any
well-behaved mail client. Operative term is well-behaved :-).

 Thus, to summarize, SM2 will:

 during message compose -
 1) hard break text in the message pane based on wrap text setting using
white space used as the wrapping delimiter.

 2) soft break links in the message pane using special characters (e.g.
, /) for the wrapping delimiters for links.

 during message reading -
 3) soft break links/text in the message pane based on pane width. Same
delimiters as #1 for text, #2 for links.

Actually there are other issues with URL's SM 2.0. For example if I
copy this link into SM:

http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0#complete=0hl=enq=ubuntu+%2B*ERROR*+Failed+to+restore+crtc;

Notice that the url link stops just after %2B and just before
*ERROR*+Failed+to+restore+crtc So, you can't click the link from my
msg to bring up the full url; all you will get is the
http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0#complete=0hl=enq=ubuntu+%2B
part.

Also notice that when SM 2.0 copies a link with spaces in the url:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community#Getting to know and work with your
system
It does the above. However, if you go to the same link with 1.1.18 and
copy, you get this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community#Getting%20to%20know%20and%20work%20with%20your%20system

Which reminds, me; it's time to revisit:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475896
[When accessing urls in firefox with %20, it is replaced with a
whitespace. Breaks other software if you try to copy-paste part of the
url out of firefox]

That may sometimes happen when you try to load a msg the news server
isn't responding or your connection to the news server times out.

That is not necessary. It can happen when you have checked the box
'Don't delete any messages', which can lead to an increased load while
looking for new postings. Can last several seconds.

If you try to read a posting in that interval, the body will be empty.

I've noticed this on more than a few instances w/2.0 haven't

The issue is gone since i use 'Delete messages more than 60 days old'.
Infuriating, though, that this setting is needed. The behavior was
caused by https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311774.

And that matters how?

I am writing this in case he cannot read your posting. :)

Hm. Interesting problem. In such a case i would probably first try
Folder Properties-Rebuild Summery File and if that does not help, close
SM and delete the .msf of this NG.

I see no blank posts from NoOp or anyone else, in this thread or

No issues with standard ATT DSL here; still 995 w/pop.att.yahoo.com and
465 w/smtp.att.yahoo.com many email accounts via ATT.

How is it you go to safe mode on a Mac?

Never Mind there is no safe Mode for Mac without going into

Phillip, with SM 2.0, simply hold down the Option key while clicking
your Dock icon. This will open in Safe mode, works also for FF 3.5 and
TB 3.0. For SM 1.1.18, there is a Terminal command that will open Safe Mode.

Try Preferences-Advanced-Cache-Clear Cache, then select another
posting and then go back to the one without body.

Does this help?

Hartmut

I already Cleared my Cache.

But only some NoOp post from him are Blank.. No one else's post are
Blank.. in this Group or in other groups.

If Harmut's suggestion does not help, try closing SeaMonkey and
reopening. Can you view the message now?

Well, the logical assumption is that, since SeaMonkey is a suite, a user
is unlikely to want to use just the mail/news client without the browser.

However, I can certainly see how one might want to. SeaMonkey has a
cleaner user interface then TB does, although I am very used to it, so
that might explain my feeling.

It is pretty easy to disable the mail client fro mailto links, but
adding the followning pref in about:config, and setting it to true:

network.protocol-handler.external.mailto

Unfortunately, adding the following pref and setting it to true:

network.protocol-handler.external.http

pretty much disables the browser entirely.

If that's what you want to do, it would work, but you would have to
reset the pref every time you want to use the SeaMonkey browser.

Short of such a drastic step, there is no easy answer. We used to
recommend the Launchy extension, but that seems to have been abandoned,
with no update since 2006.

That leaves you with copying the link and pasting it into the FF
location bar.

Lee

Thanks again Lee, for your help. Guess I'll leave well enough alone.

Are there any possible circumstance/websites where this change may cause
