Windows 7
Sorry if this repeats previous info; but this is the first time I've used this new Windows 7 computer (I've always used XP before) and I want to transfer my bookmarks and address book and tool bar stuff intact from my previous SM 2.0.4 on my XP laptop to this new Windows 7 computer. But I can't figure out where to put the files? Is it even possible to use the same files as before? Kenru, in short, yes, you can use a lot of the same files. Your inbound mail is in a file called inbox, don't worry about copying inbox.msf, it's just an index file and is remade when you need it. Your outbound mail is in sent. Ant drafts are in drafts and any templates are in templates. Same with these .msf files. Your email addresses are in abook.mab and your web addresses are in bookmarks.html Any passwords are in key3.db, cert8.db and ., I think. Your personal dictionary words are in persdict.da. Your Message filters, if you use them, are in msgFilterRules.dat That's most of the files you need to copy from your XP to your Windows 7 computer. So that you don't wipe out the mail that you already have on your new computer, rename your old inbox, sent, draft and template files to oldinbox, etc, so you don't write over the new ones. All I know is that I need to fiddle around to get full access to the WSJ page using SM2. Conversely, I get immediate full access using SM1, FireFox, IE, Opera, and Safari. That suggests to me that SM2 has a problem. We have mostly the same infrastructure in SM2 as in Firefox 3.5, so I wonder if there's a problem of your Cookie settings in SM2 (either globally or wrt this site). Could you check what item Tools Cookie Manager has checked when you navigate to this site in SM2, and if it has the default settings checked, what Privacy Security Cookies has set in your preferences? Robert Kaiser I'll save this for when I try SM2 again - I took it off when I reinstalled SM1. Could I now have both installed at a the same time? Last fall, this was not true - at least we were told to remove SM1 before installing SM2. + + + + + + + Well, There ya go! I just installed SM2.04 and all the ID/Password stuff works as easy as it did in SM1.19. I have no idea why - I did copy (via Win Explorer) all the profile files under SM1 to SM2 but made no option changes - it just all works. Whoopee [grin] John, If you are going to be using SM1 sometimes and SM 2 sometimes, this will mean that you will have your mail split in two, unless you have one or the other set up to actually leave the mail on your server, so it *ALL* gets downloaded into one profile or the other. Go to Edit-Mail Newsgroup Account Settings and select Server settings on your email account, and in the server settings section, tick Leave Message on Server and set a time period. HTH Daniel There is a simple way to avoid having mail split in two. In Server Settings, make sure the local directory setting is identical in both programs. I doubt that wourld work - Server Settings does not offer a way to choose a different Profle/location. Dan's idea of leaving one profile set to leave messages on the server seems better. However, once I got SM2 working nice, I deleted SM1- I'm of the old school where space is precious. [grin] How can I go back to 1.19. I can't get my email anymore in SM2. I have a thread going, but there hasn't been a solution. Barbara, if you were using Windows I'd have a go at giving you some assistance, but seems as you're using a Mac that's out of my knowledge. Maybe Phillip Jones, Rufus or one of the other Mac users will drop by!! Daniel Open your Profile for SM2 locate the Mail Folder. next for your inbox option drag a copy to Finder. then change the name to oldmail instead of inbox. Now locate the profile for SM 1.1.9 open Mail Folder and Drag the file you copied to desktop into this folder. close up all the windows. now open SeaMonkey 1.1.9 Go to Mail. Now you will see to items inbox and old mail. -- Phillip M. Adobe Flash plugin problem?
I'm using SM 2.0.4 on a Windows XP-SP3 system. I have no extensions installed. When trying to view the video at the site http://www.nbc.com/who-do-you-think-you-are/video/susan-sarandon/1222188/ the site loads so far and then stops with either Done or Read www.nbc.com at the bottom left of the screen. The video does not play although the peacock's tail changes colors from time to time. I looked at about:plugins and it says I have version 10.0 r45 of the Adobe Flash Player installed and a Windows Explore search shows I have only one copy of NPSWF32.dll on the system. IE 8 has no problem playing the video. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This page doesn't get past the peacock symbol for me, either. Not even when I choose to view it in an IE tab (IE 8 is installed, only used in situations like this.) I tried one or two other clips at random, and none play. Checking the page code thru W3C Validator, it comes up with 400 errrors and 300 warnings about the state of the code. That's not good. A page can render in IE and not SeaMonkey (or even FireFox) because it was written that way. Probably not intentionally, but since a lot of tools cater to bells whistles that aren't W3C-standards compliant, other browser rendering engines sometimes can't make sense of what the tools produce. Dick Actually, you're running a Gecko-based browser, so you want to spoof Firefox. If the site is sending IE-specific code when it thinks you're running IE (because you spoofed it that way), then you'll get code your browser can't run. Just so you understand, the spoofer doesn't make your browser *act* like the browser you're spoofing. It just makes your browser *say* it's the browser you're spoofing. You'll want User Agent Switcher. If I were you, I would install it and learn to use it. By the way, it doesn't come with any Firefox user agent settings. You'll need to get your own and add them to it. You can search (using Google or similar) for User Agent Strings to find lots of them available. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
