Password saver has stopped working again
Once again a new version has stopped supporting an extension to save all passwords in human readable format. I'm not looking for a discussion of why this is a good or bad thing, since it is a required thing for this client. Reasons to do it: - it's *their* hardware - it's *their* passwords - they pay me *their* money to do things *their* way - the choice is to provide the list, on paper, within 24 hours of any change, or stop working for them - they're not asking for anything of mine, just theirs the way they want it. So is there an extension which allows dumping the full content of the password database into a text file or are we back to doing it by hand or using another software? -- Bill Davidsen david...@tmr.com We are not out of the woods yet, but we know the direction and have taken the first step. In previous posts we've exchanged messages about SM hanging ... consuming every last CPU bit, etc. I just did a total re-install of Windows 7 Pro. The first time I fired up SM mail? It took over the CPU and the system. Others have commented with similar issues. I've been using this product and its ancestors since around 1994. I'm a loyal user. And I'm going to have to go find another solution because this one, much as I like it, is broken... as is Thunderbird. It's something in the mail/news component of the products. I have the same issue when trying a Firefox and Tbird combo ... if it worked I would have (grudgingly ) moved to that. No *!@*!@# The system just locked up for 20 seconds while I'm typing this!!! Screw this. Been going on for about a year and a half. I'm done. By the way, it's not just locking up SM, it's locking up my whole system. I cannot abide this. Oh, God!!! I may have to invoke ... oh, please no ... OUTLOOK! Cripes. I'm gonna go have a drink. I dunno what to do. Could it have anything to do with your Anti Virus? I know if my Kaspersky is doing anything and I try to use the mail it locks up. Just a thought. Well, it seems to do it on a Mac as well, and I'm not running an antivirus. One funny I've noticed, is that every once in a while Seamonkey seem to kill smartd, after which my system will hang for 30 seconds at a time until smartd is restarted. Very weird interaction. This isn't happening with 2.13.1 on any of my Macs...and I'm running Norton AV. -- - Rufus ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

This is very odd. I'm on the Mac and I cannot remember the last time SeaMonkey has acted up or crashed. SeaMonkey, for me, has been rock solid and crash/bug free. I would rate SeaMonkey 10/10 for stability. Re: SM hangs the whole system
Ed Mullen There are two things that may (or may not) be causing the trouble you are experiencing with Seamonkey 1. Add ons and 2. corruption in your user profile. First try staring Seamonkey in safe mode which disables all your add ons-open the browser and under the help menu click on restart with Add-ons Disabled. Now open mail. If this solves the problem one of your add-ons is causing a problem with mail. If disabling add-ons does not work you may have a corruption with your user profile. Before you do anything with your user profile make a backup copy the user profile to another directory (preferably to an external hard disk). Delete your user profile (you did make a backup to restore to, right? if the profile is not causing the problem.) Open the browser and under the Tools menu click on switch profile and create a new profile. Using the newly created profile open mail. Does mail open as expected and function properly? If so there is some corruption with the older user profile you backed up and it is causing Mail to act weird and crash. If neither of these suggestions solve the problems you are having, I'm sorry but I don't know what else to suggest. :( ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
