I can confirm what Henry says, albeit I tried with SeaMonkey.
I think the reason is, there is only one profile, so no need to do a profile

It will have no effect of SeaMonkey.just that every time you try

Not a good idea, if you ask me.

If you are using SeaMonkey and want to send an e-mail, SeaMonkey has the

It is not a trusted CA by default which doesn't mean it is
fraudulent. If you trust it you could add its certificate to your
trusted CA store. Keep in mind you should trust everyone this CA
issues certificates to as once adding it you won't get any warning

CACert has not gone through an audit or review within the criteria given
in Sections 7-10 of
. Thus, no one
knows if it can be trusted. I believe they are now in the process of
going through that review.

I did a preliminary review of CACert's documentation a few years ago
when they first requested inclusion in the NSS database of CA roots. I
found some problems that were not major but did indeed require
correction. That review never reached the point of looking at CACert's
practices. (A review or audit should parallel the ISO 9001 mantra: Say
what you do; do what you say; and be prepared to prove it. Beyond ISO
9001, what you say and do must also meet certain standards.)

Note that only a certificate authority (CA) itself can request
inclusion. Users cannot make this request. CACert made such a request
in 2003; see .
However, when it became obvious that they needed to do some work to
comply with the Mozilla policy, they agreed in 2007 to withdraw the
request. They will submit a new request (a new bug report) when they
are ready to undergo Mozilla's scrutiny.

Which version of X4 do you have? Standard includes WP Mail, so why
would it want MSO 2007 as the default?

Are you sure you're not confusing the AB? Try looking under Tools,

I don't know about your version of WP, but in mine [WP10 and 6.1] the
default is whatever windows told it: Click on the windows start button,
then settings, then control panel, then the Internet Options icon, and
under Programs tab, under Email, select SM Mail.

Make sure you do this with SM and WP closed. Did that work?

No. It did not make a change. Still the challenge for MSO
Outlook.

CAcert's primary focus and largest challenge at present is to meet the
fair but firm policy of Mozilla with a view to inclusion in their
products, including the popular Firefox browser (see Mozilla bug
215243). To that end an Audit is underway (you can refer to the
AuditToDo list for progress and our Certificate Policy Statement is
being refined at CPS (many thanks to Christian Barmala's work on this
topic and for everyone who has contributed to the shaping of these
policies).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that changed in v11, with Windows AB being the
default. The WP AB isn't reliable, as Ive had it fail often enough that
if I add anything to it, I immediately export it, same as I do with the
TB AB. That's probably why Corel started defaulting to the WAB.

The WP groups are full of "what happened to my address book" type stuff,
and no one even replies anymore. As long as I back it up after
modifying it, it doesn't bother me if/when it fails.

Terry R.
I do not use WP AB, so I've never had that problem. AFA the
WP NGs, they are certainly less active than they used to be,
fortunately some of the old times still are present, even
though one of them, Charles Rossiter, has started his own WP
support site > http://www.wpuniverse.com/.

I subscribe to those groups, and you're right, there isn't a lot of
activity. That's because WP users don't have any problems! ;-)

WP Universe has been around for quite a while.

You have to go into settings and deselect that the message not be
deleted after you are through reading it. If you do not do that it
makes them unread messages all over again.

Re: What causes duplicate messages?

2009-04-15 Thread Gregory Hicks
What causes duplicated messages?

One thing that I've found that RELIABLY duplicates messages is to have
your address on at least two of the To:, Cc, and/or Bcc: lines AND the
mail is processed via some flavor of MS mail handler. MS seems to
process each of these lines separately and keeps addees on each line
separate. MS doesn't seem to recognize that the To:, Cc: and Bcc:
lines are just for HUMAN convenence and has nothing to do with mail
handling.

What MS should do is to consolidate all three lines into one (w/o
changing the message itself), sorting the addresses uniquely, and then
initiating connections. At a minimum, the MS product will make one
connection for each of the To:, Cc: and Bcc: headers.

Your address needs to be on a least TWO of the headers to get the
message duplicated. If it is on all three of the headers, then you get
a message in triplicate.

Regards,
Gregory Hicks

Mail Trash Folder - ISP's or Mine (?)

2009-04-15 Thread DoctorBill
When I read my e-mail and then delete it, the mail goes into the trash -
as I have selected in "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings".

But...it goes into the ISP's mail trash, not mine on my Hard Drive.

The selector in "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings" doesn't specify
which Trash Folder.

Is there some way to force this issue ?

If I want to go back and re-read or get something I later decide is
needed, I have to wait for the trash message to download (dial-up!).

Were it in MY trash, it would be immediately available.

Is there anything I can do about this ?

if you're using SM Mail, and if you're using pop

either in the trash can for your account, or it could
be in the trash under Local Folders.

If you're using imap, then the trash is on the email

It will have no effect of SeaMonkey.just that every time you try
to send an email, you will be using Outlook (with all its virus,
worm, trogan permitting problems!!), unless you specifically select SM.

Not a good idea, if you ask me.

Daniel

So, are you saying that except when I am using seamonkey and
sending/replying/forwarding e-mail from within it, that any other
time I click on an e-mail address link, it will start outlook?

If you are using SeaMonkey and want to send an e-mail, SeaMonkey has
the facility to send an e-mail, i.e. it's the one program, so there is
no need for Windows to start the default program.

At any other time, when you click on an e-mail address, the system
WILL start the default e-mail program. If Outlook is the default,
that's what gets started.

Daniel

thats sort of correct. Because SM is an all in one package, if you
click on an email link in the browser, then it will start the SM mail
editor. Even if you have another email program set as the default.

How would I know POP or IMAP ?

It must be IMAP...?

Edit, Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings, select the account, and
under Server Settings, at the top right, it will say Server Type.
What does it say after that?

Ahh..yes...what a twit...didn't see that.

IMAP.

Am I stuck with how it now works?

no, there is a way, but I don't know imap so you'll have to wait until
someone can help you. It has something to do with the settings under
that account. Something about downloading the messages to your
hard-drive aswell.

Well...thanks anyway.

Firstly, many ISP's offer both POP and IMAP access. With dialup,
perhaps you would be better served with POP access, which downloads
everything to your computer.

Still, with IMAP:

Edit>>Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings>>(account in question)>>Offline
and Disk Space

Check the boxes for Offline use. Click the button for Select Folders.

Make sure Trash is selected.

Take SM offline, and those message should appear in your trash folder.

Starting last Summer, there has been quite a dust-up
over the way Gecko handles certs.

The Mozilla Foundation has caught Hell for it.
Mostly it's a lot of scaremongering on the part of the Gecko guys.

A number of the **pre-approved** CAs are steaming piles of fraud.
The certificates from many of those (which you accept by default)...

WordPerfect WPOX4 SP1.

For some strange reason, WordPerfect wants me to set my default e-mail

particular WP function has nothing to do with e-mail, but that's
beside the point. If I do set my default e-mail client to Outlook, how
will that affect Seamonkey?

Which version of X4 do you have? Standard includes WP Mail, so why
would it want MSO 2007 as the default?

Are you sure you're not confusing the AB? Try looking under Tools,
Settings, Environment, In the Address Book window, choose "WordPerfect
Address Book".

Terry R.

Sorry
It is Standard

which Trash Folder.

Is there some way to force this issue ?

If I want to go back and re-read or get something I later decide is
needed, I have to wait for the trash message to download
(dial-up!).

Were it in MY trash, it would be immediately available.

Is there anything I can do about this ?

OK..here's the thing...I had seen what you describe about the off line
settings, but "Local Folders" doesn't show up there - Just my ISP's
folders and this News Group.

The Folders under my ISP are on the ISP's disks.

If I send something out, it goes in my "Local Folders" SENT Folder.
If I want to save a message - it goes in my "Local Folders" ..
Folder (I have many set up).

"Local Folders" shows up everywhere but the place you describe...?
