First, you must set your Windows default printer. Go to [Start >
Settings > Printers]. Select your preferred default printer and
right-click. From the pull-down context menu, select "Set as Default
Printer".

Then use a plain-text editor (e.g., Notepad) to edit file user.js in
your SeaMonkey profile. Insert the following:
user_pref("print_printer", "");
// default back to Windows default printer if another printer
// was selected
The semi-colon (;) at the end of the first line is mandatory. The
second and third lines are merely comments, indicated by the double
virgules (//). This is applied every time SeaMonkey is launched after a
complete termination.

Weird. I never had to use this workaround before. What happened? :(

Do they show up if you have more than one page to preview, or try
enlarging that single page using the Scale function?

Yes to both. I even restarted my computer too. :(

I see the |<< and >>| arrows. In your image, I see that you are using a

What theme are you using? Do you get this problem in Safe Mode?

In the same profile with SM's default theme and its restart, it was the
same.

With a brand new profile, it was the same.

FYI. I reported this minor comestic issue as a bug
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1387786) siunce I was able
to reproduce it with a brand new SM v2.48 installation (defaults) in a
clean, updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 (classic display theme too unlike my
host PC's aero display theme) VM. It looks it is a bug with 64-bit W7 OS. :(

Are you clicking the mailto link in SM? Or another browser?

In an incoming HTML mail message in SM.

The source code looks like this (sanitizing the domain name):

mailto:supp...@companyname.com";
target="blank">supp...@companyname.com

Could it be the target="blank" option?

Yes, the
target="blank"
is most likely the cause. It means that a blank window or tab should be
opened before honoring whatever protocol (mailto in this case) is
specified.

Correct. Someone messed up with that HTML e-mail.

Ah thanks. Yes, I do. So SM v2.10.1 uses 30 days by default. That's good
enough for me then. If I need to change that, then I will get that
PrefBar button. :)

No, no, no!

30 days is the default in PrefBar's Expire History Button.

SM 2.10.1 uses the Mozilla Toolkit, which only controls the size of the
history SQLite database, purging old entries when the database gets full.

Uh oh. I think v2.48 broke this PrefBar's expire history button. It was
fine with v2.46 and earlier. Can any other PrefBar users please kindly
confirm this too on theirs too? :(

Thank you in advance. :)

You quoted newsgroup messages that are 5 years old. Since then, I moved
the Expire History button from Eabled Items in PrefBar to Available
Items. I then installed the "Expire history by days" extension.

There is good news and bad news about "Expire history by days". The bad
news is that the current version (1.3.1) cannot work with SeaMonkey and
that the last "good" version (1.2.0) had compatibility problems and is
no longer available. The good news is that I ran 1.2.0 through the
converter at and archived the
results. If you want a copy, let me know.

Two steps:

1) Under Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings, scroll to the bottom
where you'll see "Outgoing Server (SMTP)." Click it, then in the dialog
that appears, click "Add" to create a second STMP server. When you're
done, you can set one of them as default in the same dialog -- this
means that any new email account you create will automatically use that
SMTP server until you manually change it. AFAIK, if you don't choose a
default, the first one you created will remain the default.

2) Once you have multiple SMTP servers, go back to Edit | Mail &
Newsgroups Account Settings, and for each account, click the account
name once. In the settings there, look at the bottom where it says,
"Outgoing Server (SMTP):" and either leave "Default server" or click the
button to choose another.

Ah, I see what I did wrong. I was looking under their "Server Settings"
and not the "Account Settings" section. Thanks. :)

IMAP is for incoming mail. Outgoing mail (whether the incoming server is
POP or IMAP) is sent via an SMTP server.

Do you save a copy of outgoing mail into a "sent" folder on the IMAP
server? It could be that the first prompt is for the password of the
SMTP server (for actually sending the email) and the second prompt is
for the IMAP server (to save a copy to the sent folder).

In a basic setup, where the SMTP and IMAP servers are with the same
provider, the username and password are probably the same for both
servers. But that's not necessarily the case, so you're prompted for the
password separately for each server.

Ah, I see the issue. My e-mail provider is using two different addresses
(one for incoming and one for outgoing).

You may want to allow SeaMonkey to save the passwords (Edit >
Preferences > Privacy & Security > Passwords > Remember passwords). If
doing that, it's a good idea to also set a "master password" which is
used to encrypt SeaMonkey's password store (Edit > Preferences > Privacy
& Security > Master Passwords > Change Password). Then you'll just have
to enter the master password once for each session, and SeaMonkey will
look up the saved passwords for the SMTP and IMAP server.

I prefer not to use that feature for security reasons.

Thanks. :)

tell SeaMonkey not to check IMAP part until I need to check? I only want
to send e-mails. That's it. No need to check and download any e-mails. :/

IMAP is for incoming mail. Outgoing mail (whether the incoming
server is POP or IMAP) is sent via an SMTP server.

Do you save a copy of outgoing mail into a "sent" folder on the
IMAP server? It could be that the first prompt is for the password
of the SMTP server (for actually sending the email) and the second
prompt is for the IMAP server (to save a copy to the sent folder).

In a basic setup, where the SMTP and IMAP servers are with the
same provider, the username and password are probably the same for
both servers. But that's not necessarily the case, so you're
prompted for the password separately for each server.

Both IMAP (port 993) and SMTP (ports 587) use mail.twc.com server
address with the same account datas. I rarely use it. Once in a
while, I
send e-mails and it would prompt for my login twice. Is there no way to
tell SeaMonkey not to check IMAP part until I need to check? I only
want
to send e-mails. That's it. No need to check and download any
e-mails. :/

Thank you in advance. :)

Select the Account in the Folder Pane, then View settings for this
account. Look for Server Settings and uncheck all the check boxes for
mail and automatically download.

Hmm, I seem to have all of them unchecked. I thought it was the
checked "Allow immediate server notifications when new message
arrive", but nope. Hmm! :(

SeaMonkey may still download the email if the user uses Get Messages.

Well, I didn't click on "Get Messages" and it is automatically disabled
unless I missed it.

Your newsgroup message has the header fields
Date: Tue, 5 Dec 2017 09:12:27 -0800
and
NNTP-Posting-Date: Tue, 05 Dec 2017 11:12:25 -0600

These are the Internet standards for representing dates and times. They
mean you submitted your message at 9:12:27 am Pacific Standard Time and
it reached the NNTP server for news.mozilla.org at 11:12:25 am Central
Standard Time. The appearance that your message reached the NNTP server
two seconds before you sent it indicates your PC clock is slightly fast
and requires an adjustment.

In other words, the time in these header fields are indeed local times.
The added -0800 and -0600 indicate the time zones (Pacific and Central
respectively) in the form of offsets from UTC. A time in a header field
that is actually UTC would have +.

My 64-bit W7 HPE's clock uses Internet time. I just wanted my forwards

Your message (forwarded below) shows your local time stamp "-0800." If
you're asking for a human-readable, user-friendly version like "PST,"
you'll have to say that, because everyone's missing your point.

Yes, a human-readable UF version like PST.

BTW, the "+0800" you requested is not Pacific Standard Time, it's China

That's NOT possible as I have understood
What you can do is to put in your signature that text:

If you see in my mail header: Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2017 18:51:47 -0800
My local time is: Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2017 10:51:47 PST - Because PST time
is GMT time minus 8 hours.

Bummer and thanks. I was hoping there was a hack or trick to do it with

reading and replying? It is weird it is only happening when forwarding.

Thank you in advance. :)

I just wanted my forwards
to show my local time stamps.

What is "Internet time"?

NTP synchronization for Windows' clocks with time.windows.com,
...nist.gov, and any other time servers.

Darn. Oh well. Release notes said no internal updaters again:
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.49.2/ ... :(

I just used the full files from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/releases/2.49.2/. So far, no problems.

SeaMonkey 2.49.2 is released, and I just loaded SeaMonkey 2.49.2,

2.49.2 is out. The webserver hasn't updated the news section yet but
the release notes already made it:

https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/

Unfortunately osx and Linux i686 download links seem to be broken
right now. I alerted ewong but he is probably sound asleep now so it
will take some time.

If you want the release you can get it from here:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/releases/2.49.2/

Please read the release notes if you have problems with Stylish or
themes.

If you need it the candidate is probably the final:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/candidates/2.49.2-candidates
/build1/

It just needs to be verified and move to release. There is a 0.01%
chance that one of the final steps fails in such a way that a new
build is needed but even then it would be working fine until a build
2 is finished.

Would it be worth also noting that you could re-name the current file
webappsstore.*.old to achieve the same purpose??

Download of linux64 2.49.2 completed. Will install tomorrow.

Hmm!! The download of 2.49.2.en-US.linux.x86_64.tar.bz2 was only

SeaMonkey version: 2.49.1 (32bit)
SeaMonkey locale: pl
Windows version: 10 (64bit)

Updating from older SeaMonkey versions, like 2.46, to the current one is
expected not to work, it should work from 2.49.1 on, shouldn't it?

(which takes ages since SeaMonkey is running so slow) before
SeaMonkey will start being usable again. In some cases I have to
force-close SeaMonkey completly because its totally hung and
simply wont respond to my inputs.

I have noticed that using Google Maps and panning around is a
great way to make this hanging/freezing/etc happen faster.

The last time it totally hung Task Manager told me there was
almost no free physical memory (I have a total of 8GB) and that
SeaMonkey was using a very large amount of RAM. I also noticed
that when I attached to SM with a debugger, it was hanging
somewhere in the windows memory allocation code (i.e. that was
what was on top of the call stack) with some mozglue memory
allocation code the next thing after the windows code.

Is this kind of hanging/freezing/slowdown a known thing? Is there
a bugzilla bug (or bugs) that cover this issue? Is there anything
that can be done to mitigate or work around the issue? Could one
of my plugins (I use Addblock, ChatZilla, DOM Inspector,
Geolocater, JavaScript Debugger and User Agent Switcher as
extentions plus Acrobat, NVIDIA 3D, Silverlight, Window Live
Photos and Flash as plugins) be the cause of the problems?

Yes, I have seen this as well. I am using a build of SM 2.53 and
I've seen it happen browsing regular sites. It seems to be either a
memory leak or the browser not releasing memory though garbage
collection / cycle collection. I would not hold out hope for a fix
since there are not many people working on SM at the moment.

I'm not seeing this at all.  SM 2.49.2 Win 10 Pro 64-bit.

I suspect an add-on or combination of add-ons.  I suggest trying
Safe Mode to see if that is it.

I thought it was an add-on as well. Frank-Reiner had me switch to
uBlock as I too thought ABP was culprit. Nope. I can 100% repro it
when browsing on Momondo and AirBNB for a short period of time (15-30
minutes) on my home or office PC. I'm on Win 7 x64 but I doubt it
makes any difference.

Have you tried Safe Mode?

Yup.

I noticed uBlock Origin's counter goes up due to blocking connections.
That cause major slow downs. :(

The e-mail you received may have a text/plain alternate part that does
not really contain the entire content of the HTML part. If that is the
case, the bug is on the e-mail client which was used to send the message

Try to inspect the raw source of the message (ctrl+U), look for a
