Re: Window-Eyes app for Reaper released.

2017-01-31 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Great stuff Tom

As a Window-eyes user, I've been hovering on the fringes of this list
for ages, trying t make Sonar work, with varying degrees of success.
Your efforts have now made me ready to commit, along with Chris's praise
of recent Reaper improvements.
So, he said wishfully thinking, is there any one place where I can get
hold of clear tutorial information, and a list or lists of relevant
keystrokes?
As I wander towards retirement, home recording beyond midi beckons.

Best wishes

Re: Window-Eyes app for Reaper released.

2017-01-31 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk
Correction. The OSARA developers did not say that the 64 bit version was
unstable and crashed. I read that somewhere else. Since posting my
release notes on the RWP mailing list the lead OSARA developer and
others have said they've had no problems with the 64 bit version. One
said it's been fixed in the last year.

But problems with 32 bit plug-ins do exist. But they do for any 64 bit
program without a workaround for them.

Thanks Orlando,

I checked for updates to Word 2010, and I have the latest and greatest
updates. Even thought I would download their File Converter, but this
also had no affect. Am still unable to read the entire document.

Strange that I can read 99 per cent, but just a few lines are not read.

I even attempted to read the file with good ol' NVDA, and this appears to
be a MS Word problem, as NVDA could not read those few lines either.

So, I have all of the latest updates, but still no ability to read the
entire document.

Orlando, did you ever fix your copy of Word 2010?

Interesting, very Interesting.

The ZoomText update was done by AI staff - perhaps before all the major

Go Figure, continued

2017-01-31 Thread Dave via Talk

I couldn't agree more Jim. In fact, just to add my own two cents worth to
the pot, for those who are so worried about Window-Eyes's demise, here's an
idea; If you have a current version of Window-Eyes on your Windows 8, 8.1,
or 10 computer, and it just happens to be functioning fine regardless of the
fact that it may be outdated, why not just stick with that version for now?
Even if the program does end up going down the tube some day, at least you'd
still have a copy of WE that actually works. Just a thought.

Brenda, your post sheds more light on the fears that have gripped my tiny
soul since the current situation unfolded. I would never have known that GW
Micro was highly instrumental in getting HIMS, Inc. started in the United
States!

Like you, the help I have gotten from GW Micro has been stellar. When my
wee, small company offered money transfer services through Moneygram, it was
Mr. Marc Solomon, now gone, who helped me gain some reasonable access to the
poorly written Moneygram software that I had to use. Moneygram did have a
blind young man in their technical support department who was a Jaws user.
Note that I used the verb "was" because I'm not certain whether or not the
young man still works for Moneygram! Sufficing to say, he was unable to
help me with any issues pertaining to the accessibility of the Moneygram
software. I wondered what sort of services he was providing in tech
support, but I didn't ask him during our many conversations.

I do recall that Mr. Solomon and I spent several hours on the phone with
Moneygram whereby he was explaining to the company what it could do
differently to make its software fully accessible. Sadly, Moneygram WAS NOT
WILLING to make the necessary changes contending that it would require a
rewrite of the software from the ground up! I recall Mr. Solomon indicating
to the official we were in contact with that a rewrite of the software would
not be necessary and he did his best to point out the tweaks that could have
been made to their software with relative ease. In the end, Moneygram would
not budge and I had to terminate whatever contracts my company had with it.

I realise that I am an ancient wine repouring myself into a bottomless
bottle! Be that as it may, I've never heard, in this industry, of a
similarly situated corporation that goes over and perhaps beyond the call of
duty like GW Micro did for and with me. My fears are not allayed; rather,
they remain in place! The writing on the wall seems clear enough but
perhaps I should quit reading it, or else learn to indulge in false
pretense!

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado

Hi Ted,

You may want to visit the GW Micro Web Site and download an actual copy
of the 9.5 update, and instead of running the file, save the file
instead. This way you have the update if you need it in the future.

Who is going to design any future Window-Eyes upgrades/versions?

It seems like most of the staff that was at GW in Ft. Wayne is gone.
The ZoomText update was done by AI staff - perhaps before all the major

Just a thought.

And,doug is great - he has gotten back to me to answer questions, but I

get a disk and figure out how to burn it to disk in case I have issues.
I think you can use an old disk as long as it is before a certain

what I wonder is if from the disk if it will execute automatically or if
I will have to click on the .exe file.
