[OSM-legal-talk] ODbL / CT and CC-BY-SA Pictures / Texts / Video
Excuse me if this question has already been raised. I am currently involved in a project that has chosen OSM as cartographic base for a portal for tourists. There will be an ontology to allow for semantic research and the idea is to display POIs, pictures and other multimedia content on an OSM map (in the web and on mobile devices). Currently it is thought to have all multimedia content (where possible) in CC-BY-SA. After the planned license changeover to ODbL: 1. Would it be possible to display this content (CC-BY-SA) atop an OSM map? 2. Will we have to release the content of the ontology / thesaurus database in ODbL ? Will we have to import this stuff into OSM (I guess no) or will it be sufficient to have it available? 3. If 1 is no, would CC-BY be compatible with ODbL? (My guess is yes, but I appreciate a comment from someone more into the topic). cheers, Martin ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

In general: - a displayed map created from an unchanged OSM database would be a Produced Work. - a Produced Work requires a notice Contains information from OpenStreetMap, which is made available OSM.org under the Open Database License (ODbL). - a Produced Work may require additional license-related information, depending on your other license obligations. For example, including CC-By Icons, or CC-By-SA video in your Produced Work gives you obligations under those licenses. ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

2011/3/11 Richard Weait rich...@weait.com: Be more specific about your ontology. How does your ontology interact with an unmodified OSM database? the ontology objects were planned to work aside from OSM and to only have spatial connection to the cartographic data, but I encouraged them to use references to OSM-IDs where available to better connect the two and to benefit from updates of OSM-Data. In general: - a displayed map created from an unchanged OSM database would be a Produced Work. - a Produced Work requires a notice Contains information from OpenStreetMap, which is made available OSM.org under the Open Database License (ODbL). yes, the map data will be made available under the required OSM-terms (cc-by-sa for the moment, potentially other licenses in the futures). - a Produced Work may require additional license-related information, depending on your other license obligations. For example, including CC-By Icons, or CC-By-SA video in your Produced Work gives you obligations under those licenses. Yes, the license for every object will be stored in the db and displayed when the object is shown. So if I interpret your answers correctly, we will be able to display POIs (Icons for POIs and multimedia content) over an ODbL-OSM map (also together when delivered by a WMS-Server?) where this content is available only in cc-by-sa? cheers, Martin ___ legal-talk mailing list legal-talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/legal-talk

Niemand hier entscheidet, was in Mapnik dargestellt wird. [Talk-it] mappare landuse=farmland
It needs to be properly thought out and preferably reviewed by the community to make sure that nothing wrong was done. It is quite important considering the impact they can have on people working on some part of the map. Re: [Talk-ca] Talk-ca] Batch transformation from rcn_ref=1 to Route
From my side, it seems appropriate to create a relationship for each of the Route verte road. This way, it will be easier to follow the sections of the trail on the map when the cycle path is part of a road. And I think the following references should appear in the relationship and be removed from the way elements. rcn=yes rcn_ref=1 Pierre ___ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
