TB! v.5.0.5 RC5 IMAP problems
Title: TB! v.5.0.5 RC5 IMAP problems Hi, I have found following bugs: - opening new message appear "no message is loaded" and I have to close and reopen it again to view message, cached messages opens ok. - downloading attachment, TB doesn't finish this process - all the time attachment is downloading, closing window and reopen makes attachments useful - imap folder properties, action on exit, clear messages cache: doesn't work, only way to clear cache is to manually push button "clear cache now" - compress folders on exit, in v.5 it takes a lot of time, in v.4 was very quick Windows 7 x64 PRO SP1 regards ML Current beta is 5.0.5 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

New mail is added to the TBBETA mailbox through server side filtering and the count in TB! updates with the server check. If I select one of these newly added messages, the message seems to load, however, it's not displayed. All that I end up with is the 'no message loaded' screen. I say that the message seems to load because I'll see the progress bar appear and move to the right to completion. It then disappears and the preview pane flickers and instead of the message body appearing, it's the no message loaded. I have to move to another folder and then return in order for the message to display as it should. This is the problem Gary has a lot. Hello Tony, I setup an IMAP account. Could someone collect me the problems with IMAP, so I can test them? So far, it seems to be ok... I am using IMAPing from easymail.hu. A few things you can test for me. I will Do you ever get No message loaded and then it just sits there. See my previous with screen shot. Ok, I answered this :), independently from this mail :) Delete a few messages from an IMAP folder then move to another IMAP folder and back again and then browse deleted messages to see if they actually are deleted. The problem is, that I did not manage to setup my Sent, Deleted, Outgoing mail IMAP folders. The provider's instructions dont include them :((( Just use it for a while and see how many flaming hoops you occasionally have to jump through to read messages. Yes, I see some strange things... IMAP: moving mails to server (was: IMAP: Problems with connection on running test)
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 9Val: And now to something slightly different: What about the issue, that TheBat! loses eMails larger than ~1MB when moving mails from local to a remote directory via IMAP? I selected to automatically move sent eMails to the Sent-dir on the server which works for small emails but not for eMails with 1MB or higher size. TheBat! opens the task to move, does something but after some time, the task disappears and the mail is still local - not on the server. TB! has this behavior since v2.xx and it is impossible to move bigger eMails. I think pretty much most IMAP servers are that way, Binc and I think, Courier are on Unix/Linux (I use Binc as you know), and I am using MDaemon Pro in XP for IMAPS also.. I don't know about UW-IMAP as I have never used it. But it makes sense, any connection to the server is just another socket connection, and its only limitation is that of the OS as to number of total sockets. Regarding locking of a mailbox in IMAP, there can't be any. An example would be a public mailbox on an enterprise IMAP server which might have 100, 200, 500 or more simultaneous connections to it at any given time, so it can't be locked, as a POP3 mailbox would. I also think the type of mailbox is important also in the way it stores email on an IMAP server. Examples, in the mbox format style, all mail is stored on one spool, versus the Maildir format where each email is stored as individual email, not on one spool. Therefore, there is no mbox spool locking required when new mail arrives to be appended to the spool, or to be read by the user(s). Binc, Courier, and MDaemon work on Maildir type formats, each email separate, therefore making multiple accesses to the same email, in the same mailbox possible. -- Gary Current beta is 3.0.9.3 Pre-beta | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

IMAP Problems
Hello Everyone: First the good news. The Bat v2.12 Beta/1 is far superior to v2.11.02 with regards to handling IMAP. However, we still exhibit problems with: 1. Blank message content screens. No matter what we do (refresh folders, re-synchronize, re-boot, etc.) some message screens are blank. We have found that if we move a message from one IMAP folder to another and then move it back, the content appears. (not a problem from Outlook) 2. We still get the dreaded no message loaded indication with messages in IMAP folders. This only seems to go away when the client is restarted (unacceptable). (not a problem from outlook) 3. The Bat does not empty and IMAP trash folder on exit. We have the IMAP trash folder defined in Account/Properties/Mail Management, In Account/Properties/Options the check box Empty Trash Folder on Exit is checked. A bit more work needs to be done on the IMAP component, IMO. It certainly is not yet sufficiently reliable for production use. -- Best Regards, Kevin Using The Bat! v2.12 Beta/1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 MDaemon v7.0.1 Current beta is 2.12 Beta/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

OK Thanks for the prompt reply. No, I haven't executed your suggestions but I will do so on the next occurrence (it doesn't happen all the time) and report back. Thanks again. -- Best Regards, Kevin Using The Bat! v2.12 Beta/1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 Current beta is 2.12 Beta/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
