MM Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

MM We have some reports from corporate users that being able to drag

MM potentially very dangerous feature for corporate users.

I rather have the possibility to copy but with the message parked
in the destination folder (when the destination is the outbox).

This would do much more sense even for corp users.

Personally, I don't run into that problem. However, I often receive
messages from people who use Outlook and they want to recall a
message due to sending it in error. The common pattern with the
recall messages is the user did not check the To or CC fields
prior to hitting send.

I suspect this new feature would be of assistance to them.

Personally, it does not matter to me.

Question. Why does the program now ask if I want to save a message
prior to sending? Is their a way to turn off this feature.

Thanks

Re: The Bat! 3.63.09 and the Outbox Protection Feature

2005-12-11 Thread MAU
Hello Maxim,

 We've implemented Outbox Protection Feature.

It is currently OFF by default. If you add Registry DWORD Value
 CopyToOutboxProhibited=1 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The
Bat!, The Bat! will prohibit copying messages to Outbox from other
folders. You will be only able to foward, redirect, etc
. messages, which will lead to creation of new messages in Outbox,
but you will not be able to copy (or move) messages to Outbox.

When this option is ON, and you click Copy to folder menu item, the
Outbox folder is not shown in the list. Also, if you try to use
Drag-And-Drop to copy messages to Outbox, the cursor gets prohibited shape.

Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

If it is going to be an option that can only be changed via RegEdit,
then leave it OFF by default.

If it is going to be an option in Preferences or Account/Properties,
then just flip a coin :)

The Bat! 3.63.09 and the Outbox Protection Feature

2005-12-10 Thread Maxim Masiutin
Hello Tbbeta,

We've implemented Outbox Protection Feature.

It is currently OFF by default. If you add Registry DWORD Value
CopyToOutboxProhibited=1 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!, The
Bat! will prohibit copying messages to Outbox from other folders. You will be
only able to foward, redirect, etc. messages, which will lead to creation of
new messages in Outbox, but you will not be able to copy (or move) messages to
Outbox.

When this option is ON, and you click Copy to folder menu item, the Outbox
folder is not shown in the list. Also, if you try to use Drag-And-Drop to copy
messages to Outbox, the cursor gets prohibited shape.

Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

We have some reports from corporate users that being able to drag and drop
messages to outbox folder and have them sent is a potentially very dangerous
feature for corporate users.

I agree with Ian. Although what he said was due to being down under,
things are reversed, 1's = 0's and so forth.

I think you meant set it to 0 = off = we CAN drag-n-drop INTO the

Have the corporate world put the outbox down at the bottom and it's a
little less likely they can drag to it.

None the less, I just tried it, both ways, and I prefer the Zed to I
can do as Ian does, re-send.

if you can put a toggle INSIDE TB!, then I am happy to make that
change myself new-version after new-version ... but It's a PITA to
bring up regedit and find the place to add a new dword . if I had
to do it after every new build.

And I am now getting a confirmation request when I try to send the
reply to the outbox. I do not like this.

Well, you will see from my other message, something has been changed
so that the request to save occurs whenever the message editor closes,
even if a save has just been carried out. The result is that now you
answer No to the save confirmation thereby making it absolutely

Therefore I am not going to download and test .09 tonight. It's late
and I don't have time or energy to deal with the problems of testing
this new implementation.

I will do it tomorrow.

It is currently OFF by default. If you add Registry DWORD Value
 CopyToOutboxProhibited=1 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The
Bat!, The Bat! will prohibit copying messages to Outbox from other
folders. You will be only able to foward, redirect, etc. messages,
which will lead to creation of new messages in Outbox, but you will
not be able to copy (or move) messages to Outbox.

I guess I'm just tired, but I cannot understand the above paragraph.
Evidently it confused Ian A. White temporarily also.

When this option is ON, and you click Copy to folder menu item,
the Outbox folder is not shown in the list. Also, if you try to use
Drag-And-Drop to copy messages to Outbox, the cursor gets
 prohibited shape.

I don't want that to happen.

Please let us know whether it should be ON by default.

It should be OFF by default.

We have some reports from corporate users that being able to drag
and drop messages to outbox folder and have them sent is a
potentially very dangerous feature for corporate users.

I think it is dangerous for me not to be able to view my message in
the Outbox before I decide to send it.

IAW This is not a real problem as you have to consciously copy the message
IAW over to the out box and then send it.

Imagine you just want to move the message to another folder, and by
accident drop it in the Outbox. It gets sent at next routine
send+receive.

has a problem big enough with it that Ritlabs is introducing this new
