Well, I am certain I have confirmed a number of times.

Some filters (move from inbox to sub folder and assign colour group) work on
and off
whereas others - a common filter that marks all messages in certain folders
(spam
folders in all accounts) has never worked.

My main issue is that I receive multiple messages that are marked as read and
moved to a different folder. If I receive 50 messages, 49 of them will be
filtered correctly, but the other message will be moved, but not marked a
 read.

(...)

I also have a similar problem with list messages, which get colored as they
 get
filtered into their respective account. They usually get filtered correctly,
 but
not always. No pattern that I can see.

This is the first case I am mentioning.

All I am saying is that testing beta (but honestly guys, even the released
TB) versions requires extra caution... You have to backup, backup and
backup TB. If your mails/mailer are important. If you would have done that,
you would just go back to your backup file.

It may be that as Tony says he has 25 IMAP accounts with lots of filters that
this is the problem. The Bat does not seem to be able to handle quantity of

My main issue is that I receive multiple messages that are marked as read and
moved to a different folder. If I receive 50 messages, 49 of them will be
filtered correctly, but the other message will be moved, but not marked a read.

I also have a similar problem with list messages, which get colored as they get
filtered into their respective account. They usually get filtered correctly,

not always. No pattern that I can see.

I hope RIT can fix this soon as I can now see how much SPAM I'm
getting because I have to filter it manually. It didn't seem quite so bad

I use anti spam sniper plugin and was having a lot of false positives. I
cleared the training database which will of course create a few more as it
relearns, but the problem is solved

2013-02-07 Thread Tony Hoare
Hello gandalfmeister,

None of the tbbeta messages are being filtered into my dedicated
folder. If I manually refilter the inbox - they move - but not automatically.
 Anyone confirm?

Confirmed. My filtering has been working very well until the last few
days. Now, no messages. are filtered and I have to do them all
manually.

I may have a clue: I have just set the account to a plain IMAP
connection (without SSL) and perhaps Kaspersky plugin is causing them
not to be filtered.

I have removed the Kaspersky plugin and will update if anything changes.

You might try clearing your imap cache:

Close TB
Open your mail directory with the explorrer, locate the directory
matching with your imap account, in that directory you'll find a
directory called imap.
Your imap cache is located in that directory, delete all files in that
directory.
Most problems with regard to that imap account will be solved after

It's possible that they're caught by other filters. Generally it's
best to make filters as specific as possible.

GG The filters look like:
GG header - contains (all) - (emailaddress of mailing list)
GG As actions:
GG move to the folder (name of folder)

So I'd suggest to create a filter that starts looking a single header,
like reply-to or list-id (TB doesn't know these headers per default,
but it's easy to define them in the header section and then you can
use them in the sorting office) and place them on the top of your
sorting office.
When that doesn't help there's a problem going on.

It's possible that they're caught by other filters. Generally it's

Those messages simply stay in the Inbox.

GG The filters look like:

The header is AFAIK the whole of the RFC-822 header and each of them a
header field.
But yes, I've also tried quite some header fields, like:
header field - reply-to - contains - (emailaddress of mailing list)
Doesn't work.

My black filters are inactive. So let's try to set them to inactive,
close TB, start TB again and set them to active.

Hi Roelof,

GG All those blackcolored filters are checked as active and under 'options'
this is
GG confirmed.

My black filters are inactive. So let's try to set them to inactive,
close TB, start TB again and set them to active.

I've deleted four of those filters, closed and restarted TB and created those
filters again with exactly the same arguments. Although they're still
blackcolored
and active, these four do work now at least a couple of new arrived mails
were
filtered correctly in those folders.
Don't ask my why. :-)

I cannot really help with your problem, this is just a BTW:
Filters show up blue-colored when the option Continue processing with
other filters is on, otherwise the filter shows black.

I went back a few messages.

How many filters have you got? Is it an option to re-create the
 sorting office for this account?

GG About 20 in one account, other accounts have fewer.

Every account has its own file with filters.
Pick an account that's giving you problems.

Open the sorting office.
Copy and paste your filters to a text editor (smartbat will do fine)
You have copy to copy one filter at a time
When you've pasted all of your filters to the editor
Close TB
In the account that you've copied and pasted, you rename the
account.srb file to account.srb.old, this means that the account.srb
file (that contains the filters) won't be seen.
Start TB
Copy and paste all filters back to the sorting office that you just
emptied, now you should be able to copy and paste them all at once

If this works then you had some corruption in the .srb file. If it
doesn't work, you can close TB and swap the old .srb file back in
place.

Just an idea: Try to use a slightly different condition. So instead of
contains (all) try to use contains any of. Maybe it helps to us a
trunkated part of the emailaddress you are filtering for.

Maybe it will also help not to filter for header, but more
specifically for sender or for recipient.

Again, these ideas are more trial and error than advice that's funded
on solid knowledge. Yet, in the past this has has proven to be
sufficient for my needs :-) BTW I'm on POP only (never needed IMAP)

Hi TBBETA,

The sorting office filtering does not work properly;
my old filters from v4 work fine, all new ones I made in v5
don't work. Nevertheless, I created them the same as the
old ones.
