you let us know -at least in parts- :

 Which entries are correct?

hmm, with a solution 1024x768 the ticker is outside of the monitor.
Try in Dezimal: Left and Top 70 and shift it to the desired place.

Sure, but my current resolution is 1280*1024 on a 19 TFT monitor. I see
the ticker sometimes at start up but it will not scroll thru all
messages. Looks to me as if it was paralyzed. It only shows the number
of totally unread messages, then it disappears.

Charlene, I think this has to be a bug. The settings you sent me on
the screenshot by PM all tallied with mine, except that you have
Automatically checked and I have Always.

Just in case it might be in the scrollable menu hanging up, I tested
by asking for Automatically--works fine. Switched back to
Always--Ticker appeared. Change did not take place for Automatically,
however, until I had read all the unread messages showing there. (Not
relevant to your case, I know.) The third option, Hide, behaves here
in the same way. That is, normally. Mail Ticker hides when asked,
reappears immediately upon OK for the Always choice.

I'd back up and install RC2 or perhaps 3.0.2.10 over the current
version and see if that gave back the Mail Ticker, if I encountered
this deficiency on my own machine.

If you decide to do that, please report back here on what happens. :)

I checked out both, automatic and always with the same negative

To get rid of this problem, I have reverted to RC2 just for this one

remains static: not to get moving. Just the message: xxx new messages.
When I chose automatic it vanishes again. And I haven't changed a
thing, until I noticed the ticker being paralyzed.

Since I set it up on a new machine with a fresh Win install, new
firewall and so on -yep, it's springtime- I wondered if some of the cabs
Win is extracting might have been damaged or something like that. In
fact I never had the exact same course on any Windows installation
twice, always it seemed to be a bit different than the last time. I
thought that it could be OS-related.

So here again no luck with RC2, will go forward to RC4 next time.

Good, I'm indeed happy for you. Perhaps Charlene will solve hers

No, I have found it by chance: There must have been a wrong default
setting while setup in ticker in options - preferences - mail ticker.

Remember: I installed it on a new machine and had to use a msi-file from
Ritlabs, this could not have been done by a updated beta exe-file. I
used the latest available stable version from Rit's homepage and
imported my mailbase later. So I must have overseen to check the three
options messages: normal - high - low which by the way is a rather
lousy explanation if any. So when I check all three options I got my
ticker back.

Sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the widescreen!!

Thank you all out there for searching with me, and in case of anyone

Ritlabs, this could not have been done by a updated beta exe-file. I
used the latest available stable version from Rit's homepage and
imported my mailbase later. So I must have overseen to check the three
options messages: normal - high - low which by the way is a rather
lousy explanation if any. So when I check all three options I got my
 ticker back.

:hooray:

Sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the widescreen!!

And sometimes you're the mystery :star: !

Thank you all out there for searching with me, and in case of anyone
likes being mad at me because of the traffic: you haven't known it
 either!

Every day's a school day! Perhaps our tracks will help some future
traveler who gets lost in the woods! I'm exceedingly glad for this
happy ending. :)

Hello Clive!

Cees, what size is your monitor screen? I'm working on a theory that

Hate to knock down your theory, Mary, but I'm using a 19 Mitsubishi
monitor here and the mail ticker works and displays just fine using
 RC4.

Ah, Clive, I was just floundering around. On the order of, first check
if the power plug is fully in the socket, etc.

It's no RC4 bug. Gleason had deleted a needed folder, trying to fix
something else with its folders, and Charlene, with a complete new
install, overlooked some Mail Ticker settings.

Thanks for writing and for putting up with all my persistently wrong
speculations! :)

v3.5 Return RC4 -mailticker broken

2005-05-06 Thread Charlene Ferrara
Hello all,

I did not change a thing -except installing TB on a new machine- and I
simply can't get the ticker back, no matter where I am searching.
It will not move, neither fast nor slow, and after restarting it has
vanished.
Any ideas, suggestions, hints?

What do all your configuration check-boxes look like in
Options/Preferences/Messages/Mail Ticker?

Especially the item, Display Mail Ticker, which has a scrollable menu.
I have mine set for Always.

Hello Charlene,

 Which entries are correct?

hmm, with a solution 1024x768 the ticker is outside of the monitor.
Try in Dezimal: Left and Top 70 and shift it to the desired place.
