As so well put by Mrten.

That is because the message is 'parked'. You can drag the message from the
outbox to 'trash' which is the safest option (and click a dialog box away),
or you might click on the hourglass-like icon to 'unpark' the message and
then immediately press 'delete'.

I've heard people tell tales that between the 'unpark' and the 'delete'
action the message got sent, so go with the first option!

The last part has happened to me.

For all the above reasons I have asked for a Draft folder. ie a folder that

I have used has always had one and it is the one thing that I miss.

Thanks for the link, Raj.

Indeed, but nowadays data from observatories widely use here (we have

This is true for solicited site :-)

There is others that make difference :
- some referring to local sighting of moon in the evening
This "group" said, new days start in the evening, for example this
afternoon is Thursday, tonight is Friday.
My country Indonesia is one that use this term.
- others referring to local sighting of moon in dawn.
This group said, new days start in the dawn.
Arab Saudi is one of the example.

Both are valid.
This conditions makes sometimes we have different days for "Ied Days".
Indonesia said it is on Sunday 16 December 2001, but Saudi said
Saturday 15 December 2001 :-)

If the value of those to headers are identical, then Sender:

I am not sure if this would be an easy task. Just got this info from the web.

http://webexhibits.org/calendars/calendar-islamic.html

Giving in brief so that you can read and then if interested click on the links
given
below.

Each month starts when the lunar crescent is first seen (by a human observer's eye)
after
a new moon.

Although new moons may be calculated quite precisely, the actual visibility of
the
crescent is much more difficult to predict. It depends on factors such as weather,
the
optical properties of the atmosphere, and the location of the observer. It is
therefore
very difficult to give accurate information in advance about when a new month will
start.

Furthermore, some Muslims depend on a local sighting of the moon, whereas others
depend on
a sighting by authorities somewhere in the Muslim world. Both are valid Islamic
practices,
but they may lead to different starting days for the months.

So you can't print an Islamic calendar in advance?
Not a reliable one. However, calendars are printed for planning purposes, but
such
calendars are based on estimates of the visibility of the lunar crescent, and the
actual
month may start a day earlier or later than predicted in the printed calendar.

Different methods for estimating the calendars are used.

Some sources mention a crude system in which all odd numbered months have 30 days and
all
even numbered months have 29 days with an extra day added to the last month in
'leap
years' (a concept otherwise unknown in the calendar). Leap years could then be
years in
which the number year mod 30 is one of the following: 2, 5, 7, 10, 13, 16, 18, 21, 24,
26,
or 29. (This is the algorithm used in the calendar program of the Gnu Emacs editor.)

Such a calendar would give an average month length of 29.53056 days, which is quite
close
to the synodic month of 29.53059 days, so on the average it would be quite accurate,
but
in any given month it is still just a rough estimate.

Better algorithms for estimating the visibility of the new moon have been devised.

Hi Craig,

I am sure that Melissa will be along soon to help you, but I'll have a
go in the meantime! (she helped me set it up not so long ago - setup
eluded me also!)

Go to account properties in TB! for each account.
Under "Transport" enter "localhost" (without the quotes) in the "Mail
Server" box.

Then go to the NOD Pop scanner. Click on the "setup" button.
There you will see a box at the bottom labelled "accounts".
Click on "Setup".
Here is where you add each account individually.
A box will come up to add an account.
In the "Parent Server" box enter your account eg: POP.gmx.co.uk
In the little box on the right enter 110
In the top box "Listen on" you have to enter a port number. It is
suggested that you choose a number over 10500 - say 10501 or whatever
number you like. (I do not totally understand all this port stuff but
it seems any number above 10500 will do!)
Click OK and you should see your account has been added to the
accounts box.

Now, go back to the "account properties" in TB! and under "Mail
Management" in the POP3 box - enter the Port number that you chose for
the account in the POP scanner setup eg: the 10500+ number.

Repeat this for all accounts - selecting a different port number for
each account.

I hope that I haven't forgotten anything. I am sure if I have left
anything out Melissa will fill in the gaps! (Hi Melissa!)

Quote from this very URL:

Prevention
Here are the basic steps for containing the latest worm:

"Don't open attachments!" One of the best ways to prevent virus
infections is not to open attachments, especially when viruses such as
this polymorphic worm are being actively circulated. Even if the
e-mail is from a known source, be careful. A few viruses take the
mailing lists from an infected computer and send out new messages with
its destructive payload attached. Always scan the attached files first
for viruses. Unless it's a file or an image you are expecting, delete
it.

Get protected. If you don't already have virus protection software on
your machine, you should. If you're a home or individual user, it's as
easy as downloading any of these top-rated programs then following the
installation instructions. If you're on a network, check with your
network administrator first.

Scan your system regularly. If you're just loading anti-virus software
for the first time, it's a good idea to let it scan your entire
system. It's better to start with your PC clean and free of virus
problems. Often the antivirus program can be set to scan each time the
computer is rebooted or on a periodic schedule. Some will scan in the
background while you are connected to the Internet. Make it a regular
habit to scan for viruses.

Update your anti-virus software. Now that you have virus protection
software installed, make sure it's up-to-date. Some antivirus
protection programs have a feature that will automatically link to the
Internet and add new virus detection code whenever the software vendor
discovers a new threat. You can also scan your system for the latest
security updates here.

Unquote.

'Nuff said.

I promised myself I would contact the group tonight when I got home
about the same message I received after updating my virus signature
update for Innoculate IT this morning. Immediately I was greeted with a
similar message stating that "thebat.exe" was infected and could not be
cleaned. This happened out of the clear blue sky. I deleted
"thebat.exe", re-installed with the 1.53d archive and got the same
message again. Removed Innoculate IT, installed evaluation version of
NOD32, updated it and all was well. Bad virus update sig from Innoculate
IT? Now the question remains - Anyone familiar with how to configure
NOD32's pop protection for the Bat? I tried their suggestion, but I
guess it eludes me.

Interesting.
Hijri (hijrah in my language) is Lunar Base Calendar (as opposed Solar
Base for Gregrorian Calendar), it has 12 month too. I don't know if
somewhere in the world someone already have formula to convert

Re: Macros/templates?

2001-09-05 Thread Januk Aggarwal

Hello Peter,

Historians believe that Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at 16:36 GMT
-0700 was when, Peter Chiou [PC] typed the following:

PC> Why is it dangerous?

When you create a folder level template, it will be used whenever the
focus is on that folder. The dangerous part is when you use any of
the recipient setting macros in a folder level template. Take the
following example:

Suppose you want to make sending a message to TBUDL very easy, so you
add %TO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to the folder level template. Now,
while you're reading the mail, you find someone to whom you'd like to
contact privately (because it may be inappropriate for the lists.) But
wait, when you create that new message, the folder level template adds
the TBUDL list. Of course you didn't want everyone to get your
private message. It is worse when you click on the Unsubscribe link
or on someone's PGP Key request link.

You may think that none of these are too bad, but there is one much
more embarrassing possibility. Suppose you have TB open, focused on
this folder. You are in your web-browser and click on a mailto link.
This message that will be created will also be sent to the TBUDL list.
This could be *very* embarrassing, for you and for the receiving
party.

For lists like TBUDL, you are much better off creating an address book
entry and using a AB template for that entry. Personally, what I did
was create a general purpose mailing list template. I then put all my
mailing lists into one group and created a group template (under group
properties.) This way I can add and remove groups and the templates
are set immediately. This method is also convenient because I don't
have to worry about which folder or account is in focus when I start
composing my mail to the lists. The correct template is always
applied.

If it was convenience you're looking for, in your Address Book, make
the list a favorite, and it will appear in the list when you click the
little down arrow next to the new message icon. Almost as quick as
pressing the new message button itself, but a lot safer.

Although it's dangerous to use folder templates here's how it could be done:

"Folder" / "Properties" / "Template"

insert somewhere into the template field

%TO='[EMAIL PROTECTED]'

AH> 2. When replying to list messages (I have already asked this

AH> say "xxx on xxx list .

"Folder" / "Properties" / "Reply"

%TO=""%TO='"%OFromName on Listhandle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>'

Again: Using folder templates _is dangerous_. The better way (like e.g. I do
it and I think many others) is to add an addressbook entry for the list and
use AD-Templates to the correct values.
For example I've an AB-entry for this list and use in the Reply-Template for
this AB-entry the following line:

%TO=''%TO='"%OFromName on %ABToHandle" <%ABToEmail>'

AH> 3. If a message comes in with a specific subject send a predefined
AH> message to user with attachments.

This is a simple filter :-)
Create a new filter for 'Incoming mail'.
Insert all necessary values to match the mail you want, the criteria should be
better known to you than anybody of us :-)
If you do not know exactly what filter criteria you have to use where you
maybe want to send an example so we can try to guess how the filter should be
structured .-)
Tab 'Actions' select 'Send Auto-Reply'. Click the icon right this entry and
create a template used for this reply.
Use the macro

%ATTACHFILE="filepath"

in this template to automatically attach a defined file.

I'll guess a bit ...

Do you have "Options" / "Editor Preferences" / "Auto Save every XX Minutes"
set to a values > 0 ???
I've found no other case TB! saves a messages with an empty To: field.

If so and you cancel writing the message you normally get asked if you want to
keep the auto-saved message.
Here the 'warning' message is

This message was automatically saved
Would you like to keep the saved copy?

If you (accidentally) answer 'Yes' the message is still with an empty
recipient field saved _AND_ 'Parking' flag set (in Outbox this flag means
'Draft').
"Del" won't work until you delete this flag either by clicking on the iconized
'hour-glass' when the message is focused or using the shortcut '+D'.
This clears the flag and you're able to delete the message.
Alternative you can try to drag the message with the mouse into the "Trash"
folder and confirm the question "Do you want to MOVE parked messages as well?"
with 'Yes'.

that is because the message is 'parked'. you can drag the message from
the outbox to 'trash' which is the safest option (and click a dialog
box away), or you might click on the hourglass-like icon to 'unpark'
the message and then immediately press 'delete'.

i've heard people tell tales that between the 'unpark' and the
'delete' action the message got sent, so go with the first option!

When it is saved to the outbox as a draft, you will see a little

I'm not sure whether it was this one, but yes, I've had a similar
experience. This happens when you download the malware while PCC's
Realtime-Scan is switched off, or it is a new virus that is not yet
known. PCC will find it only later, when it's alreeady in the message
base. (The message base is the location then; I assume this is what
you mean by "TB is the source").

However, usually malware is caught when downloading mail and never
make it into the message base.

I have also set PCC to "quaratine uncleanable files", so that it will
not just stay were it is when it cannot be cleaned.

Maybe you can do it semi-automatic with some filters, but I think
doing it by hand is far quicker. I always do it manually.

I create a subfolder for e.g. August and in the properties of that
folder I click 'Use the account default column settings'. Then I move
all the messages, starting from the first thread that started on
August 01 to the last thread started on August 31, to that folder
(using CTRL+* and selecting all the messages and then CTRL+M).

Another way to access this function: In the main menu, go the 'view'
with your mouse, and select 'memo auto-view'.

Well, since the memo-view is a tiny bit crippled, it's a way to
differentiate in the message-view between messages that have and
messages that have not a memo attached.

Attachments were no good here i think, let me post a link with a
screenshot: http://famke.gimmie.tudelft.nl/mrten/bat.png

as you can see there is a ! in the column when there is an attachment,
and it is empty when there is none.

*aaa* ... I think I understand ...
To make their life easier we should only use the list e-mail address as 'To:'
so they can write simple filters instead of thinking about complex (but more
often working) ones ...
In other words: because it supports laziness on one side of the line the other
side has to use this self-made standard.

As often in life this is a quite simple explanation to a problem I've never
thought it exists.

So ... happy 'To:-ing' :-)

P.S.: This one time, Nick, I've changed my To:-field manually, just for you
*ggg*

P.P.S: BEFORE anybody (again) starts a flame war or something similar: THIS

MEANT TO OFFEND ANYBODY PERSONAL!!! :-)

I like and use Above & Beyond .

What I like most is that is does not have a separate to do list and
calendar of appointments. Instead, to do items are dynamically
scheduled according to priority, due date/time, and available time.

I'm not sure about integration -- I haven't had time or need to
investigate. I know it has many features I haven't explored.
