I've gone into the address book and added an entry for my certificate and imported the relevant certificate file, which has eliminated the error I was getting before. Now, when I try to post a new email, I get an error (in a box and the log) saying Server reports error. The response is: ready for tls tls. Sniffing the connection shows Qmail sending the same sequence of 3 bytes to The Bat, three times, and each time, The Bat seeming to respond with nothing. Hello all, I tried to make a forwarding filter, but cannot get it right. This is what I did: I had a filter directing mails (a digest) to a particular folder. That worked fine. Speaking of double negatives, there is different usage in different languages. While in High German, a double negative means positive, I didn't even know that in Vienna, a double negative is more negative than a single negativ. ;-) But you are making my point, read on. In Spanish, the double negative is used to express the simple negative: el no me dice nada - literally, he doesn't tell me nothing - means, of course, he doesn't tell me anything. Which brings us to English: the first translation from Spanish into English above, while grammatically incorrect, is widely used in certain circles is the US. (Also, he don't tell me nothing is not unheard of, which is linguistically quite an interesting development of the language.) So is the double negative synonymous to a single negative, or rather to a positive? The answer appears to depend on the cultural background, even within the English-speaking community. What I am saying is that the double negative should be avoided in English, as otherwise nobody won't understand nothing! ;-) f'up2:tbot. -- Cheers, Thomas. Moderator der deutschen The Bat! Re: anti-spam suggestions
Hello Lynn Thank you for your email dated Tuesday, August 13, 2002, 5:28:28 AM, in which you wrote: LT I tried it for a while, too, but have found that TB LT filtering is more effective As an aside, a female friend was receiving unwanted emails from an admirer - not typical spam. I suggested she 'bounce' them using Mailwasher and they stopped. -- Regards William Flying with The Bat! 1.61 www.ritlabs.com/the_bat Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Service Pack 2 Current version is 1.61 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

To make more of these short statements it would be a good idea to look for Tom McCune's web site (Google). -- Dierk Haasis http://www.Write4U.de http://Interest.Write4U.de/pongo PGP keys available: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=SendMyPGPkeys The Bat 1.61 on Windows 95 4.0 1212 C Wenn Ärger im Menschen ist, so macht er selten das Klügste, sondern gewöhnlich das Dümmste. Threads not opening completely
Hello TBUDL Members! As some of you may remember, I found a small cosmetic bug some months ago about threads not opening completely. The picture for it is still on http://software.write4u.de/The_Bat_/the_bat_.html. It seems I've found a corollary: In the last few days I had the problem numerous times. When I then tried to delete a read message - the one that didn't open the thread correctly - it didn't go. The focus went to the next message and I had to go back to delete the message in question a second time. I am of the impression that happened especially - if not solely - with threads going from one mailing-list to another (TBUDL to TBOT). If we can verify this RITLabs may have a handle to squash the bug. -- Dierk Haasis http://www.Write4U.de http://Interest.Write4U.de/pongo PGP keys available: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=SendMyPGPkeys The Bat 1.61 on Windows 95 4.0 1212 C If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
