TB v3.0 vs. ver 2
Hi everybody. I'm certainly not trying to be a smartie, but can someone point out to me the advantages or differences of upgrading to the version 3? If I am missing something obvious like visual effects, it is because I am visually impaired and use a screen reader with speech synthesis output. So any visual changes would not be at all obvious to me. I truly don't mind paying for an upgrade, but what is different or enhanced about version 3? What does it do that version 2The Bat! (v2.12.00) Personal does not do? My only minor concern is that when first starting and usually when downloading mail, it really hogs the system and slows things down, although this is usually a minor problem while in my word processor. -- Best regards, Mary Anne Lynskey mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Problem with Outgoing Filter - message not leaving Outbox despite being sent.
I wanted to know if it's possible to send a message with an attachment to a recipient and send a copy of the same message without the attachment to someone else at the same time. After a bit of trial and error I found I could do this with a filter and both messages were sent as wanted. BeginFilter Name: tester Active: 1 Source: \\gmx\Outbox Target: \\gmx\Sent CopyFolder: none MainSet: 20File attached Actions: faFwdMsg,faoFwdNoAttach AddGroups: DelGroups: ForwardTemplate: ConfirmTemplate: ReplyTemplate: FwdAddr: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] RedirectAddr: NewAddr: NewTemplate: ExtCmd: ExtFile: ExtractDir: ColourGroup: default AddAddrItems: afiFrom, DelAddrItems: afiFrom, HotKey: 0 IsOfColour: default SizeBigger: 0 SizeSmaller: 0 AgeOlder: 0 AgeNewer: 0 InAddrPos: 0 OutAddrPos: 0 InAddrGroups: NoAddrGroups: KillFile: KillMethod: 0 SaveTemplate: SndFile: SysSound: 0 SoundTime: 0:00-0:00 AllowTime: 0:00-0:00 EndFilter However, when I checked the Outbox the copy message without the attachment had been put into the Outbox again with a FWD prefix before the subject line, and on pressing F2 it is sent again, but still stays in the Outbox and acquires another FWD in front of the subject. Every time I do a mail check/send this happens... I've not deleted the message from the Outbox as I wanted to find the cause of the problem before I do. So far the subject line reads like this: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: File attached and the message text keeps being added to the outgoing message so it now reads like this: ,- [ Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: File attached ] | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 12:44:22 PM | Subject: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 11:02:50 AM | Subject: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 11:00:40 AM | Subject: Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 1:19:24 AM | Subject: Fwd: Fwd: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: yobunny [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 1:17:54 AM | Subject: Fwd: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | I am forwarding this message to you because | | | This is a forwarded message | From: Anne [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Date: Wednesday, August 4, 2004, 1:14:56 AM | Subject: File attached | | ===8==Original message text=== | Hi Docwra, | | attached file as requested | | -- | Cheers, | Anne | | Flying high with The Bat! v2.12.00 http://www.ritlabs.com/en/ | | | | ===8===End of original message text=== | ===8===End of original message text=== | ===8===End of original message text=== | ===8===End of original message text=== | ===8===End of original message text=== | ===8===End of original message text=== `- Can anyone tell me where the problem may lie please? Selective Quoting in Replies
tbudl, I am not very familiar with the concept of selective uoting in replies as I am used to just posting reply at top of message. It seems like a very awkward process. My attachments don't show anymore :-(
Hello TBUDL, I store all my attachments on all my mail accounts in separate folders - and the Mail folder is on another drive (E:). Today when I went to check back in TB! on some older digest format messages I found they were empty messages - no text, no digest... zilch! but the attachments are still in the attachments folder on the E drive. I checked other accounts and the same there - not just digests, but .zip, .doc, .pps, .gif, .jpg etc files all show as 0kb size in TB!'s attachment pane and if I try and open them they are empty files but they are still there in the attachments folder under Explorer and I can open them from there properly. The attachments that are affected are from around May 2003 but the dates vary between folders... in some folders it's all attachments before 21 May, in others it's all before 13th May and so on... no logical pattern. Additionally, the icons that should be there to show attachments are vanishing as I highlight each message. Does anyone have any idea what has happened? Filter for forwarding messages from different account
I've been trying to build a filter, can't gett it to work and don't know what I am doing wrong. My intent is to forward a message I receive from one group to another, but using a different account identity for the forwarded message since I am subbed to that group with a different email address. My incoming message filter first moves the message to a folder. That folders properties have the identity set to the desired email account from which I want to forward the message. The filter also has the forward to box checked and the group address for forwarding typed in the edit box. I can manually forward the message from this folder to the desired group with no problems. I can't seem to get the filter to correctly change the identity for me. I am rather a novice at making a complicated filter like this one, so any suggestions would be appreciated. On Wednesday, October 22, 2003, 6:27:42 PM, Daniel wrote in message: mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] DR It is possible that the Apple Mailer doesn't support UUEncode. MIME DR seems to be quite common amongst e-mail clients. Hi Daniel, As I said I sent it again as MIME rather than UUEncode and it still arrived scrambled. My correspondent sent me this reply about it today - you'll see he has figured out what was happening, but what I'd like to know is why? I certainly did not compress the file - it left here as plain text and came back to me as plain text when I mailed it to my other account, but this is what he says: The bad news is that when I looked at this second attached file, it was all gibberish just like the first. The good news is that I am a little bit of a techie myself. Looking at the gibberish, it struck me odd that there were no blank spaces or repeated characters or any words standing out. It did not look like a word processing file. I began to wonder whether the file had been compressed. So, I ran a little experiment. I replaced the extension .txt with .zip. Then, I asked my computer to decompress the file. Voila'! It became a readable text file of the will of Elizabeth Docwra. So, the file you sent was really a compressed file and should have had the extension .zip instead of .txt at the end of the title. Any thoughts as to why/where this may be happening? My correspondent uses comcast.net as his ISP - could it be something they are doing to the attachment - perhaps as an anti-virus measure? I can't see it being my ISP (Freenetname) or the one I mailed myself would have been treated the same way. -- Cheers, Anne Flying high with The Bat! v2.00.6 on Windows 98 4.10 Build Visit The Bat! HELP - Text attachment unreadable...???!!!
Hello All, I've a problem with sending a text file to someone - it's a plain text file created in Dominote (notepad replacer) and is completely plain text - unformatted. I attached it to a new e-mail using my genealogy mail account (not this one) which is a Yahoo.co.uk box, account settings are: Encode attachments using UUEncode 8 bit characters treated as Quoted Printable Mail editor settings are: Message format - Plain Text (MicroEd) Message encoding - Latin 1 (ISO -8859-1) The recipient uses (from his reply to me) X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.552) The text attachment I sent to him as [elizabeth of kneesworth 1843.txt] he received but when he tried to view it was unreadable. He has sent me the file back and it is also unreadable to me... as an example I've copied the first few lines of it: begin 644 elizabeth of kneesworth 1843.txt M5AIR!IR!T:4@;%S=!7:6QL(%N9!497-T86UE;G0@;V8@;[EMAIL PROTECTED] MF%B971H($1O8W=R82!O9B!+;F5EW=OG1H(EN('1H92!#;W5N='D@;V8@ M0V%M8G)I9=E(%=I9]W#0H-[EMAIL PROTECTED];[EMAIL PROTECTED]5V:7-E('5N=\@;7D@ M9%U9VAT97(@16QI[EMAIL PROTECTED]AE(%=I9F4@;[EMAIL PROTECTED]AE;B!(=6=H97,@36]U Can anyone please explain what has happened here? I regularly send plain text files to others (it's part of a Wills transcription project) but have never had this happen before. To check if the text file was corrupted somehow on my system I forwarded a copy of the original message with the attachment to myself at this mail address (gmx) and it appeared exactly as it should do. Is it because the recipient is using the Apple Mailer or is it something else that I've overlooked somewhere?
