+1. Another idea would be to add an autosave feature, eg save after every
chosen number of minutes..

[tw] [TW5] text with " and ' in Text widget

2014-02-26 Thread Julie
I really appreciate the new Text widget, which answers to a need of
non-wikified text both part of a tiddler (not an entire tiddler) and
without code formatting.

However, why is the text in a attribute, instead of in the content of the
widget? Such a choice prevents from using " and ' in the same text, as one
of them is used for delimiting the attribute.

Is there a solution to bypass this, without using html encoding? (I don't
know if a web developper knows them by heart, but I'm pretty sure it's not
the case of the majority of users, including me)

[tw] Re: [TW5] How to disable CamelCase ?

2014-02-26 Thread UBi
In short:

   - open [[$:/core/modules/parsers/wikiparser/rules/wikilink.js]]
   - delete Tiddler content
   - remove field "module-type"
   - save tiddler
   - save TW & reload

This disables all internal links except those enclosed in double square
brackets.

Since [[$:/core/modules/parsers/wikiparser/rules/wikilink.js]] is a shadow
tiddler, you can restore the original behaviour by simply deleting it.

[tw] What happened to TiddlyDocs?

2014-02-26 Thread xx . mkkl
Hi all,

Currently I am using TWc and recently I stumbled upon information about a
Multi-User TiddlyWiki called "TiddlyDocs". The referral to the downloadpage
www.tiddlydocs.com is offline. Was this a project for commercial purposes
with TiddlyWiki framework? Was this a project from Jeremy Ruston or was it
a spinoff by other users? Is the project still alive?
Also, I can't seem to find any proper documentation about this project
except some bloggers highlighting some of the possibilities.

Kind regards,
Mike

2014-02-26 Thread Matabele
Hi

I've been playing around with TW5 for a couple of days - I've posted my
efforts here: http://wills.tiddlyspot.com/

There are a few ways I've been experimenting with for displaying tiddlers
as sliders. Perhaps have a look at 'WikiText Help' - available from the
drop down help menu (? on the RHS of the page controls.) There are a couple
of other techniques shown on the left sidebar.

Hope this helps

One thing I also try is to see if a single specific change I'm making will
also work in a barebones empty.html tiddlywiki.

For EditTemplate, you don't have to refresh the page, but usually for
ViewTemplate, you do have to refresh the page after saving the change.

Are you using a customized PageTemplate or StyleSheet?

Could you offer some examples?

i started my tiddlywiki over a year ago, and stopped using it until
recently. but there is a lot of info there. i can only say i imported a
style but i don't remember how, or whose, or where it is. i think this
raises a lot of unknows when one tries new modifications that don't play
well with an unknown background of plugins. is there a way to list these or
see them from a url?

basically i wanted to add a start date and end date field to a resume that
includes a lot of job tiddlers. i added various versions of examples i
found here and on the regular tw sites. in the edit screen, no field
appeared. i thought it was caused by EditFieldPlugin, so i stopped using
it. then i just tried something basic - to change the order of the text
field and the tag field. nothing changed. then i deleted last modified
date. nothing. then i deleted modified by and comments number... then it
hit me, my wiki is not even looking at edit template or view template. i
don't know where to look.

my wiki is at http://joeshirk.tiddlyspace.com/

[tw] Re: (TWC) Change to View Template and Edit Template have no effect

2014-02-26 Thread Leo Staley
You are using the Simplicity theme. This has templates which over-ride
whatever is listed in the shadows. unfortunately it's not listed in the All
tiddlers area, because all of the associated tiddlers are tagged
excludeLists and excludeSearch. Fortunately, if you check under your tags,
you can go see any of the tiddlers tagged excludeLists or excludeSearch.

That's where you'll find the tiddlers which are over-riding the regular
shadow tiddlers. This should point you in the right direction.

Cheers!

I think you probably originally applied the template by including the
simplicity theme tiddlyspace. To uninclude a space on tiddlyspace, click
on the tiddlyspace icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen, click
on "This Space", and then open the Included Spaces area. From there, you
can easily uninclude or include whatever other spaces you'd like.

That's right.

You shouldn't have included the simplicity space at all. It is not designed
to be included. The 4th intro page, the first paragraph has a link that
tells you how to include the theme into an existing space. (I know
nobody reads the dosc)

Anyway: As you included the simplicity space you also got

   - system-goto
   - simplicity-template
   - space-install
   - simplicity

So I think you could also remove the above spaces.

but doing so will not help you with your problem, that changing the
Edit- or ViewTemplate won't change your layout. ... because you use the
"headless" theme. Themes "overrule" the default templates.

You will have to change stuff in the
http://joeshirk.tiddlyspace.com/#HeadlessTheme tiddler. ... ___ but be
aware, it may make your UI unusable if you mess it up. So first download
your TW and test your changes. Then apply them to your "production" theme.

have fun!

On a much related note, Mario is also the creator of the Freestyle template
generator on Tiddlyspace. You can use
it to create your own customized layout. He has made it as easy to
understand as possible, but it still takes a couple of hours of tinkering
to grasp how it works and how to make it do what you want. It's the one I
used on my page. I actually think I did a few things wrong, but it's not
broken, So I'm just going to let it be for now, :)

[tw] [TWC] Using Parameters with the tiddler macro doesn't work at all.

2014-02-26 Thread Leo Staley
So I just sat down to learn myself all about transclusion, the tiddler
macro, and list macro.

Unfortunately, the information at http://tiddlywiki.org/#tiddler is not
helpful.

I follow its instructions exactly and nothing happens. It wasn't very
explicit in much of its instructions either, which made actually doing that
pretty hard. :(

1) I created a tiddler titled MyTemplates. The content, of this tiddler is
!What I like
I like //$1// in [[$2|https://www.google.com/search?q=$2]]!

(It should have been more explicit on what exactly the content of the
tiddler should have been. There really should be a more explicit example
with actual tiddlers)

2) In another Tiddler, I pasted,

<>

3) There isn't a step 3. After I did that and saved them both, the tiddler
macro gave me an output of nothing.

What gives?

I figured it out. The documentation is wrong. The content inside the
brackets should be MyTemplates##What I like, NOT MyTemplates::What I like.

I have now updated and corrected this on that documentation page.

[tw] [TWC] Filtering plugins, which ones to use? Please help.

2014-02-26 Thread Leo Staley
Today I sat down to learn all about how to do transclusion and filtering.
It's quite a bit harder than expected. This post is mostly just about
Filtering plugins.

These are the ones I'm taking a serious look at:

Of course, the basic list macro with the filter parameter,
http://tiddlywiki.org/#Filters
Filtr
ListFiltr
TagFiltr
GetPlugin
The filters at http://filters.tiddlyspace.com/ (Jon Robson's
ExtraFiltersPlugin, NumberSortFilterPlugin and StoryFiltersPlugin) Yes, I
am using a tiddlyspace.
Yakov Litvin's ExtraFiltersPlugin

EmbedTiddlers +
MatchTagsPlugin
ForEachTiddler, (I
know that this doesn't have full compatibility with tiddlyspace, but I plan
on using my tiddlywiki mostly offline anyway so that shouldn't be a problem)

I can't tell which would be the best for me. I don't know which plugins and
their macros are redundant, incompatible, or synergistic, with one another,
or deprecated by other updates or plugins, or just plain better or worse
than others. Or even the difference between some of them.

I'm having a really hard time sifting through all the documentation and
successfully comparing them. If someone who has a bit more experience could
help explain the differences between these plugins, I would be
overwhelmingly grateful.

Cheers!

[tw] TW5 Text Widget documentation.

2014-02-26 Thread Danielo Rodríguez
Hello,

I tried to make an edit in github but I didn't find the appropriate
document.
Regarding the Documentation of the text widget: it took a long time to
figure how the widget works. It is a pretty simple widget, but the fact
that the name of the widget is the same than the only parameter confused
me. I read and read the documentation thinking "how can I figure what
parameters does this thing accept?". I didn't know also is this is an self
closing widget (<$text />)

With a single example this will be 100% clear

<$text text="Text to display">

Re: [tw] Re: TW5 - Simple one button method for toggling viewing content and hiding it?

2014-02-26 Thread Matabele
Hi

Sorry - I have been developing my wiki on a laptop with Firefox, along the
lines of the vanilla TW5. I haven't tested (and don't intend to test) on
other devices, or even on operating systems other than Linux. It seems to
work with Chrome, but has some issues with Opera (the styles need tweaking
and Fontawesome doesn't function.)

Some of the techniques might work though.

[tw] How can I create an 'Edit' button for transluded tiddlers?

2014-02-26 Thread Matabele
I am working on a simple Menu which transcludes a series of sections of a
main topic (like a slideshow):

\define sliderList(section)
<$button popup="$:/state/$section$" class="btn-invisible tw-slider">
|! $section$ |

<$reveal type="nomatch" text="" default="" state="$:/state/$section$"
animate="yes">
<$transclude tiddler="$section$" />

\end

<>
<>
...

I now wish to add an edit button which selects the currently transcluded
section for editing

\define editLink()
<$button message="tw-edit-tiddler" class="btn-invisible">
Edit Button
<$reveal type="nomatch" text="" default="" animate="yes">
...
(What do I place here?)
...

(and somewhere in one or more of the transcluded tiddlers, the macrocall)
...
<>

The button always opens the Menu itself for editing rather than the
currently transcluded section. Messing with the code for the sliderList
macro (storing $section$ elsewhere) seems to mess with the formatting.
Surely the system must have a marker somewhere reflecting the currently
transcluded section, which I can hook into?

Any ideas on this?

Thank you for taking care of that!

Please note that, while the example was in error, the basic syntax
documentation that precedes it was correct:
-
<>
The TextReference can be any of...
a tiddler title <>
a tiddler section <>
a tiddler slice <>
-

In your particular case, you defined a section using the "!sometext"
syntax... but then, in the reference, you used the doubled-colon *slice*
separator instead of the doubled-hash *section* seperator.

MatchTagsPlugin is one of the "synergistic" type plugins. It extends the
TWCore [tag[tagvalue]] syntax, so that you can use Boolean expressions
(and/or/not, plus parens) to create filters based on combinations of tag
values, e.g., [tag[this OR that AND NOT (something AND somethingelse)]].
This enhancement to the TWCore syntax can be used in *any* macro that uses
tag filters, whether or not that macro is built-in or plugin-defined.
MatchTagsPlugin also defines it's own <> macro that provides
some extra ways to create tag-filtered output.

enjoy,

Re: [tw] Re: [TWC] Using Parameters with the tiddler macro doesn't work at all.

2014-02-26 Thread Leo Staley
Yup. My pleasure! I copied and pasted exactly what was in the example too.
My edit also made it clearer on what exactly needed to be in the content
of the "MyTemplates" example tiddler in order for it to have a section.
Previously it just said "section containing", which, if you haven't already
gone over sections and slices in depth, you might not understand.

But I do want to remark that the examples for the Text Reference are a bit
confusing too. I was under the false impression for a while that to call a
Tiddler section, you had to use the double brackets, and to call a slice,
you had to use quotation marks.

Cheers!

[tw] Computer Crashed, Encrypted TiddlyWiki5 No Longer Recognizes Password

2014-02-26 Thread runforestrun61
Hi. I'm having a big problem. My main TW5 file no longer opens with the
password that I've given it. I'm using TiddlyDesktop for Linux.

I've been working on this wiki for about 2 weeks now, and I moved
everything from my old Basket files over to my new TW5. ..and deleted my
old files since i thought "I no longer needed them".

Now, I save my stuff regularly, and I wasn't saving at the moment of the
crash so I don't understand how my file could have been corrupted or
anything like that.. There was a sudden power outage.

I have a TW5 file which I wasn't using at the time of the crash and it uses
the same exact password that this one does, and it opens fine.

I've inspected my TW5 file, and it's down to 73.9kb from about 16 megabytes
in size. So something must have went horribly wrong.

I do see this "nwsnapshot" file however holding 16 megs.. and I'm not sure
if I've seen that file there before.

I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me?

Re: [tw] Re: [TWC] Filtering plugins, which ones to use? Please help.

2014-02-26 Thread Leo Staley
That was enormously helpful, *thank you! *As I stare at this a bit more, I
think I'm coming to some solid conclusions, but I could also very well just
be getting myself mixed up in a huge knot. Is the following explanation to
myself correct?

*The following is a beginner's attempt to explain what filters are and how
filters work, and may not be even remotely correct. *

Consider the list macro. To use the list macro with a filter, enter <> This calls the list macro and tells it that it will be
generating a list from the next bit of info which tells the list macro
what to search for and list. That next bit of info can be pretty long, but
must be encased quotation marks. The filter itself is inside square
brackets. <> The first word in
there is called the filter (not to be confused with the "filter" word which
came after the "list" macro). There are 3 built in filters in Tiddlywiki:
Field, Tag, and Tiddler. Using, for example, the tag filter will generate a
list of tiddlers based on the tags specified.

Plugins can add more filters in addition to these 3, as well as expanding
the filtering abilities.

MatchTagsPlugin does both. It expands the exhaustiveness and specificity
you can achieve using the tags filter (everywhere, including other
plugins!), as well as a new macro which functions similarly to <>, but does more stuff too.(not clear on exactly
what yet).

Yakov Litvin's ExtraFiltersPlugin
adds
6 new filters; 2 filtering in (adding), and 4 filtering out (excluding), as
he explains it. They are, respectively:
[all[parameter]]
[from[parameter]]
[and[parameter]]
[not[parameter]]
[unclassified[parameter]]
[hasPart[parameter]]

Jon Robson's
ExtraFiltersPluginadds
what he counts as 13 new filters, but which my definition here counts
as 8. (I would only count the "is" filter as one). He groups them
differently than Yakov, so I'm not quite sure how they compare.

Finally, there are actually 2 secondary additional core filters of a
different kind than the ones above. They are the [sort]field]] filter, and
the [limit[number]] filter, and they merely delimit how the main filter
displays. Besides the 6 mentioned above, Yakov Litvin's
ExtraFiltersPlugin

includes
2 sort filters as well.

I'm still not sure how Filtr
ListFiltr
 TagFiltr
GetPlugin
 and ForEachTiddler
relate
to these in terms of functionality, overlap, redundancy, or synergy.

Cheers!
-Leo

[tw] Re: How can I create an 'Edit' button for transluded tiddlers?

2014-02-26 Thread Stephan Hradek
I'm using that template like this:

<$list filter="[field:section{!!title}nsort[order]]">
{{!!title||checkpoint}}

The first !!title is the title of the tiddler where I have that code. So
the list is searching for tiddlers having a field "section" which has as
value the tiddler's title.

The second title is the currentTitle of the list widget. So this is a
variable which works - kind of... You could use any variable there. The
result will always be the currentTiddler of the list widget.

I tried this:

<$tiddler tiddler={{!!wantthis}}><$transclude
tiddler="inline-slider-edit"/>

But it failed miserably :( No idea yet why it fails.
