[tryton] Tryton - Documentation

2016-03-30 Thread Axel Braun
Dear Community,

I would like to point you to a discussion on the german mailing list:
https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/tryton-de/Q8pcB-cO3xc/Mt1JzwUj51gJ

It deals with the creation of holistic User- and Admin documentation for
Tryton. Target language is currently german, but it is build up in a way that
it can be translated to other languages (e.g. the reftags are in English).

The documentation was created by our Debain -Maintainer and long-term Tryton-
supporter Mathias Behrle as a crowd-funding approach: One part will be funded
by customers, one part by Mathias, and some amount (3000€) needs to come from
the community.

The german community is currently committed to 1950€. I would like to bring
this to your attention in order to fund the missing amount.

I feel this may be interesting as a translation basis for langages different
from Spanish or English.

For a proof-reading in german see http://www.m9s.biz/doku/

Happy funding!
Axel

This process is deprecated, we use Pootle now.

That's what i explain in the page. How to translate with pootle.

I picked the notes (about pootle) from the old wiki and improved it a little

Indeed I don't think we need any kind of pages. We have a link to the
pootle server in community page. And people can contact us from Pootle
to request the language creation.

But it's not clear that Pootle means translations. I think we should
clarify the translation process, so newcomers can easly contribute on
translations.

About the time frame, I think it is no more accurate, we switched to
Pootle to allow among others to have continuous translation.

So maybe we should remove this paragraph and mention the translation
process on the first steps of the contribute page.

Also I found that until now (when we still have the wiki) nobody
followed the procedure and they just asked somewhere on ML or IRC etc.
So I think it is too much to have a procedure for something that happens
very rarely.

I just write it down to have some reference as somebody asked it on the
spanish mailing list, so when asking on the mailing list we can easly
answer with a link to the how to translate (or contribute page).

It is a common wide spread error, that newcomers will provide just about good
translations. In my experience those attempts often just put an additional
burden on the language maintainer to correct/explain the errors.

That doesn't change the fact, that I appreciate your effort to make things more
clear.

While of course it is possible to translate continously, finally a consistent
translation and all checks make most, if not only sense in the string freeze.
So of course the time frames are quite important.

When users are asking on IRC or mailing lists this could also be, because they
didn't find intuitively the information.

Last Tryton Unconference in Belgium and Catalonia (Barcelona), Nan's
guys present a trytond-doc project.

It's easy:

1- Use Sphinx and inherit doc. Depend modules you installed, you could
generate a custom documentation.
2- Fields, menus and views (screens) from your trytond
server-database. In case next version change a label field, name
menu,... is not necessary to change in your documentation.

Some references:

trydoc on pypi: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/trydoc/

Yeps, there are missing. Please fill an issue about that.
But in anyway, as it is a wizard the access right is managed at the
action level, the button rights will only be for the UI.

Idem.

I'm wondering if we should not create a default unittest to ensure that
all buttons on Models have an ir.model.button entries.

https://pootle.tryton.org
