In my market, though “Jeopardy!” did air in its regular slot during Levar’s 
week of the Olympics, TiVo listed the slot as “The Olympic Zone.”

I could (but don’t) fork out the extra dough to get the Sports tier on 
Suddenlink (ACC=405). And no doubt my country relations on the ridge could chip 
in for the extra package on Dish or Direct. But the future is streaming, which 
is where the Big 12 Network can be found. That poses a problem in WV, as the 
state ranks low for reliable broadband coverage.
 
 
We’ll see how it plays out; our athletic director is a former associate 
commissioner in the ACC, and the university has been promoting its academic 
bona fides in the social mediasphere. (Those twenty-some Rhodes Scholars just 
don’t appear overnight....)

As a graduate of and a resident in the easternmost outpost of the soon-to-be 
Hateful Eight Conference, I’ve been hearing/reading nothing but all week.

Of particular note:
The ACC, whose footprint we most snugly reside, has rejected WVU’s overtures 
several times in the past. If we can’t somehow talk our way into the B1G or the 
SEC instead, our $35-40M take could become $20M in the H8 or $7M in the 
American.

But as our PBP guy/statewide sports show host clichéd, “It’s a marathon story, 
not a sprint.”

Not recalling the show, I had to look up its description on the Wiki. And while 
I don’t know your points of recognition between the real and reel senators, as

I've started watching the show on DVD via the county library system as 
they're coming available.

So in kicking off S.5 tonight, imagine my surprise when Tosh and Perez rock 
up to the local Steptoe & Sons and in the background, I see the Confederate 
flag on the tailgate of their company truck.

Maybe it symbolizes something slightly different on foreign shores, but I 
still found it odd that the police didn't mention it, since they're 
investigating the death of a Nigerian man.

[TV orNotTV] What is Sinclair up to?

Well, I know the what-
 
Like other markets, Sinclair has two big-four stations here in town: WCHS
8-ABC and WVAH 11-Fox. Here in the last week, Fox has shifted to 8.2 while
Decades has been introduced to 11.1 - and the other 8.x and 11.x subchannels
have been reassigned in the air and on the Suddenlink dial. The poor Tivo
programing guide is struggling to keep up.
 
And if you look around the country, other Sinclair duopoly markets are doing
this.
 
So... why?

IIRC the story of the one non-zero three-way tie in history, the person in the 
lead expected his tied opponents to wager everything, so he took it upon

Not that I’ve seen on local Twitter, but then I just follow the news-desk feeds 
from the local stations – no specific reporters, though Tim does pop up as a 
Newschannel 3 retweet every so often.
 
Fun fact: Keith is the only local media person to have been portrayed in a 
Hollywood movie. His father was the play-by-play radio announcer for the 
ill-fated 1970 Marshall football team, as dramatized in “We Are Marshall.”

"The Voice" singing during the ceremonies and Bradley Walsh doing lame comedy 
bits with the Chasers.
 
(Of course, even though the rules regarding product placement have loosened in 
the UK in recent years, no one can still do what American television gets away 
with--I can now see Tina Fey turning to the camera after forced dialogue 
singing the praises of Verizon Wireless on "30 Rock" and saying, "Can we have 
our money now?").

Switching on Blackpool lights might get some local TV coverage if they're 
lucky. Similarly, the most "famous" Christmas tree in the UK is perhaps the one 
in Trafalgar Square. Again, that might get some time on the local news 
coverage. But I realise that different countries have very different things 
that are culturally important.
 
I mean we have something called The Trooping of the Colour which involves the 
Queen and horse drawn carriages, so we're in no position to get high and mighty 
about these things!

I had the opposite situation when dear alma mater (WVU) switched from the Big 
East to the Midwest-centric Big 12 eight years ago: After years of being used 
to noon and 3:30 starts (for TV purposes), my visit to Lubbock forced me to 
adjust to a 2:30 kickoff instead.
 
Indeed, all announcements tweeted out from the conference regarding game times 
are in CT only.
