[Bug 60672] Mounting Bug (Ubuntu 6.10 Test 2)
Public bug reported: Short: When installing Ubuntu 6.10 from the LiveC I told the installer to mount my 60gb windows partition in /media/windows. After reboot my new Ubuntu system would show two mounts on the desktop: Windows and Windows(2). More Details: I thought that this problem might have been fixed so the first thing I did was fully update my system. After installing about 350 updates I restarted the PC. I still had the same problem. I decided to unmount it and remount it, but it still did the same thing. I then proceeded to check the /etc/fstab config file and there is only one entry for the partition. If there is any other information that I could provide that would help fix the problem please let me know. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Mounting Bug (Ubuntu 6.10 Test 2) https://launchpad.net/bugs/60672 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 55172] Re: gksu dies on first run
Hm... was this meant to have been fixed in the version published 2006-08-11 16:03:16 EDT 1.9.3-1ubuntu2? If so, I don't think it's been solved yet. I've been seeing weird problems with update-manager which I believe are attributable to this bug. After I log in and run update- manager the first time, when I click the Check button, the update- manager desensitizes, and gksu attempts to launch, but its window never appears. I must kill gksu from the GNOME System Monitor for things to start working right. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: konversation If Konversation is configured to use iso-8859-1 character set, and if I enter a message with some characters outside this character set, the following seems to happen: - Konversation silently translates the non-iso-8859-1 characters to ? when it sends the message to the server. - However, the chat window, the irc log, etc. show the original message. Thus, one never knows what the other people actually see, especially if some text is copy-pasted from somewhere else, and it contains characters that look similar to normal iso-8859-1 characters. [Bug 60683] konversation silently discards some messages (irc channels with non-ascii characters)
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: - Set the character encoding in Konversation to utf-8. - Join an IRC channel with a non-ASCII character in its name, say, #testä (the channel name is in utf-8). - Using another IRC client, send a message which is not a valid utf-8 message (say, something with non-ASCII characters encoded latin-1) to #testä (naturally the channel name has to be in utf-8). - Konversation silently discards the message. I would expect one of the following: 1) Konversation shows the message with the broken characters replaced by some invalid character marker. 2) Konversation guesses the correct encoding of the message and shows it correctly. (It seems that this is what happens in the case of channels with only ASCII characters in their names.) 3) Konversation show at least something; a warning in the status window if nothing else. I can confirm the Ubuntu changes can be dropped - the only being to build it against Python 2.4, which is no longer needed given python- support. -- Please sync pytone (universe) from unstable https://launchpad.net/bugs/60684 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60685] radeonfb fails to probe EDID on a PowerBook G4 (TiBook)
Public bug reported: I have a 667 MHz PowerBook3,4, which has a Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500]. The default boot-up on Dapper, where radeonfb is used, fails very often and it _seems_ even more so after the 2.6.15-26.47 (after more than 20 boots I finally got a working console.) The failure manifests itself as a non-synced display, eg. the display shows a grey bar or random flickering trash. Now, I compared the dmesg output of a failed boot attempt (ssh'ing into the machine) and a successful boot attempt, and there is a difference: Successfull boot: [ 28.799644] radeonfb: Monitor 1 type LCD found [ 28.799652] radeonfb: EDID probed [ 28.799657] radeonfb: Monitor 2 type no found [ 28.799674] radeonfb: Using Firmware dividers 0x0002008e from PPLL 0 [ 28.958642] radeonfb: Dynamic Clock Power Management enabled Failed boot: [ 27.818747] radeonfb: Monitor 1 type LCD found [ 27.818756] radeonfb: Monitor 2 type no found [ 27.818767] radeonfb: Using Firmware dividers 0x0002008e from PPLL 0 [ 27.818776] radeonfb: Assuming panel size 8x1 [ 27.977745] radeonfb: Dynamic Clock Power Management enabled Notice that the failed boot finds the LCD monitor, but does not, for whatever reason, probe the EDID and goes on to assume a grand 8x1 panel! Additionally, any similar issue has NEVER happened when booting to Mac OS X and this problem has been around from at least 2.6.9 kernel, which I remember using with Debian before switching to Dapper. Usually booting between OS X and Linux corrects the problem, whereas successive attempts to boot Linux just fail in a row. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- radeonfb fails to probe EDID on a PowerBook G4 (TiBook) https://launchpad.net/bugs/60685 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60631] Re: [edgy]Crash opening firefox

[Bug 59852] Re: x60 sound doesn't work in ubuntu
After upgrading bios and turning on modem, sound now works (not sure if upgrading the bios helped). My thinkpad came shipped with the modem turned off. I will never ever use the modem. I still think its a bug that ubuntu can't startup sound if the modem is turned off (snd-hda-intel is loaded, it just for some odd reason fails to work). As far as I remember turning on the modem also drains the power faster when running on battery... -- x60 sound doesn't work in ubuntu https://launchpad.net/bugs/59852 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60631] Re: [edgy]Crash opening firefox
Confirmed here on i386, French locale LANG=C fixes the problem, but it's not a nice fix :) It looks like mozilla-firefox-locale-* weren't updated for beta2. -- [edgy]Crash opening firefox https://launchpad.net/bugs/60631 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60687] emailaddresses in .mbox file for mailinglists not munged
Public bug reported: The lists.ubuntu.com frontend to the mailinglist archives uses a mechanism to protect against spammers. Email addresses are converted to something like foo @ bar.com. However, the archive offers the option to download the whole .mbox file. This is a cleartext file containing all messages, including headers and, thus, all emailaddresses. ** Affects: mailman (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- emailaddresses in .mbox file for mailinglists not munged https://launchpad.net/bugs/60687 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60686] knot3 oops when booting on powerpc64
Public bug reported: I just downloaded knot3 to test on my PowerMac G5, but the kernel oopses right after I select live-nosplash-powerpc64. After a long period of time, the CD-ROM spins up and then an additional few lines of output are printed, then nothing. I tried selecting live-powerpc64 first, but my monitor couldn't handle the bootsplash (19 LCD, ViewSonic VP191b) and I couldn't see anything. After a long while, I gave up and re-tried with nosplash. I also tried the check option, but it seems to use bootsplash as well (and thus I had the same problem). ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- knot3 oops when booting on powerpc64 https://launchpad.net/bugs/60686 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 60105] Re: paste not functional (half)
Hi. I've read the response of the developer. I think that the problem is not that. He don't wont the user able to randomly edit the text area, and this is ok, but I can paste anything via edit-paste, and for anything I mean really anything, even phrases. I can use edit- paste or ctrl-v, or middle button. But not the quicker (and more immediate) method, right-button-paste. To me, he have to disable all of this, if he want to enforce control over user input. Paste something in it is a usefull thing. And it is possible. But not in the more natural way. Is it possible to catch paste from the contextual menu and append it like the over ways? -- paste not functional (half) https://launchpad.net/bugs/60105 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
