TJ, some new information - this is a regression. Trying the EXACT same install path with the "complex" passphrase I usually use on an old bionic "daily" build worked perfectly. [Bug 1090827] Re: [REGRESSION] Ethernet is broken in kernels 3.7.05 and newer in Ubuntu 13.04
The bug exists in rc7, but unlike rc2, the Unity desktop actually works, and my graphics display. In addition to the networking not working in rc7, my mouse and keyboard inputs do not work once I reach the desktop. In fact, I had to press the power button and wait 60 seconds for it to automatically shut down since I couldn't select the shutdown option on- screen. So, it's broken in rc7 as well, but with rc7, at least my graphics work properly. I was using the left alt key to move windows around, and terminal to lauch apps in rc2 because of that problem, which easily became incredibly frustrating. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1090827 Title: [REGRESSION] Ethernet is broken in kernels 3.7.05 and newer in Ubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1090827/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1090827] Re: [REGRESSION] Ethernet is broken in kernels 3.7.05 and newer in Ubuntu 13.04
rc3, rc4, rc5 and rc6 behave exactly like rc7, with graphics working and no mouse/keyboard input what-so-ever. Not even alt-sysrq-b works. I can tell that networking is still broken because the network monitor says Disconnected, you are offline.. I installed all of the packages for each kernel. It would seem that a commit in between rc2 and rc3 broke it. [Bug 1090827] Re: [REGRESSION] Ethernet is broken in kernels 3.7.05 and newer in Ubuntu 13.04
Oddly enough, after installing those other kernels, the behavior exhibited by 3.7.05 as originally reported is now occurring with rc2. I think there may be something wrong with my installation as my results are inconsistent. Input devices, however, only work with rc2. They are broken with anything after that. I am very confused right now... I think I might reinstall 12.10, upgrade to 13.04, install all updates, and then see if the bugs are still present. It's fixed when using the linux- image-3.7.0-030700-generic_3.7.0-030700.201212102335_amd64.deb package. [Bug 1090827] [NEW] [REGRESSION] Ethernet is broken in kernels 3.7.05 and newer in Ubuntu 13.04
Public bug reported: On my system, with an ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard, I had to go into the BIOS and disable bluetooth and wifi to restore any form of networking what-so-ever. There was a crash of some sort reported in the dmesg logs, and running ifconfig would hang my terminal. I managed to chroot into my install using a KUbuntu live cd and install all updates via 'apt-get update apt-get upgrade', and this is still an issue. [Bug 970581] [NEW] [FIX] AutoKey (GTK) is not useable by default in Ubuntu 12.04
Public bug reported: By default, AutoKey does not work with Ubuntu 12.04 because it is not present in the Unity Panel whitelist. By default, the Unity panel whilelist is set to ['JavaEmbeddedFrame', 'Wine', 'Update-notifier']. In order for certain applications, such as Desura and AutoKey to work properly, they need to be added to this whitelist, otherwise they will not function properly at all. The whitelist can be retrieved using gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist, reset to it's default value with gsettings reset com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist, and set using gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist. Because this application doesn't provide any functionality at all without system tray functionality, it is necessary to manually append 'Autokey' to the whitelist. This can be fixed by modifying the package to update the whitelist on installation time to append the necessary value to the whitelist. Just running gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist ['Autokey'] fixes the problem with Autokey, but causes issues with other programs. The issue can be resolved by running a single command I wrote upon installation, which checks if Autokey is already in the panel whitelist and adds it if it isn't. It may also be worth running the command upon execution of Autokey in case the whitelist has been modified by another program and Autokey has been removed. I attached a batch script to do this as a patch, although the command is as follows: if grep -q 'Autokey' (echo `gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist`); then echo 'Autokey' exists in Unity panel whitelist. Nothing to do here.; else echo Adding 'Autokey' to Unity panel whitelist. gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist `echo \`gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist | tr -d ]\`,\'Autokey\']`; fi ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: autokey-gtk 0.71.2-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-21.34-generic 3.2.13 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-21-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Apr 1 00:03:17 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: autokey UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-03-24 (8 days ago) ** Affects: autokey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/970581 Title: [FIX] AutoKey (GTK) is not useable by default in Ubuntu 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autokey/+bug/970581/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 760322] Re: Video freezes when playing fullscreen OpenGL games on HP ProBook 4520s
I just discovered that running metacity --replace prior to launching the game allows the game to run without any problems. Also, the reason this is reported as a fullscreen bug only is because Neverball worked just fine in windowed mode without changing the window manager to metacity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760322 Title: Video freezes when playing fullscreen OpenGL games on HP ProBook 4520s -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 759331] [NEW] Right-clicking doesn't work on HP ProBook 4520s using trackpad
Public bug reported: Right-clicking doesn't work at all in Ubuntu 10.10 or 11.04 when using the built-in trackpad on the HP ProBook 4520s. When I plugged in my HP MG-0133 wireless mouse, everything worked perfectly fine, but the trackpad would not recognize any right clicks. This is a very annoying bug, and I didn't know what package to file this under, so it's filed under linux, even though that's almost certainly incorrect. [Bug 670024] [NEW] [FIX] Could not open transmission - error while loading shared libraries: libappindicator.so.0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission I was no longer able to open my Transmission BitTorrent client after installing updates on my Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit computer. The error message I get while trying to open Transmission on the terminal is: transmission: error while loading shared libraries: libappindicator.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. Commands I have tried before reporting this bug include: * sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade * sudo apt-get check * sudo apt-get install libappindicator* --reinstall -f * sudo apt-get install transmission transmission-gtk --reinstall -f Running whereis revealed that there does not appear to be a file called libappindicator.so.0, but rather a file called libappindicator.so, at /usr/lib/libappindicator.so and /usr/lib64/libappindicator.so. I was able to fix the problem by creating a symbolic link using sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/libappindicator.so /usr/lib64/libappindicator.so.0. [Bug 606509] [NEW] Wine 1.2 Stable is released
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wine1.2 Wine 1.2 stable was just recently released, with _many_ bug fixes since the last stable release. [Bug 554783] [NEW] Graphics Card Fan Suddenly Stopped While Using Computer
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati While I was using my computer, doing perfectly normal things, such as reading news articles in Firefox, my graphics card's fan suddenly completely stopped, causing the GPU to overheat. At first I thought that the fan was slowing down because there wasn't anything particularly GPU intensive going on, and system load was below normal, however, like 10 minutes after, the screen turned completely black, and the computer locked up. This almost certainly because the GPU overheated. The first thing I did was tried Alt-SysRq-K to reboot the X server. That did nothing, so I tried Alt-SysRq-REISUB, and the system did NOT reboot. I'm assuming there may have been a kernel panic. Therefore, I held in the power button on my computer until it turned off. Shortly after that, I hit the power button again to turn the computer back on, but immediately after pressing the power button, the system fans started spinning at maximum speed for a split second and the system immediately shut off. No BIOS POST information was displayed on the screen or anything. So, I assumed the system shut off because it overheated and it was trying to protect the hardware. I let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then I managed to get it to turn on. Something worth noting here is that the GPU fan worked perfectly fine after a full system reboot, making me believe this is some sort of driver problem. The first time I tried to boot it, Ubuntu froze before being able to load the splash screen, so I assumed it may either be because the GPU was still overheated and not working properly, or some file system corruption. I tried Alt-SysRq-B to reboot it, but surprisingly that did nothing, so I turned it off with the power button again. I then booted into recovery mode, and thankfully, I managed to get to the recovery options. I then proceeded to run the options dpkg, clean, and resume, but when it finished loading services, I was in a text mode login instead of GDM, so I rebooted using Alt-SysRq-REISUB. I then booted Ubuntu with the normal boot method, and after running a quick fsck, I was able to login and post this bug report on the same computer. [Bug 530394] [NEW] gwibber claims my Facebook password is incorrect but the same password works on Facebook itself
Private bug reported: Binary package hint: gwibber Gwibber will not allow me to authenticate my Facebook account, yet I literally tried copying and pasting the same password into both Gwibber and Facebook.com, and it only worked on Facebook through Firefox. This confirms that my password is correct, and something is wrong with the way Gwibber handles password authentication. Obviously, for security reasons, I can't just post my Facebook password here and say try it, so I'm going to list some things that may have to do with the issue: My password is somewhat long (32 Characters), it contains no special characters other than letters and numbers with mixed case capitalization (both upper and lower case characters), and there are no spaces. I am not sure why Gwibber will not allow me to authenticate with my Facebook account, but hopefully the issue will be resolved by Ubuntu Lucid's release... ** Affects: gwibber (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Private -- gwibber claims my Facebook password is incorrect but the same password works on Facebook itself https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/530394 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is a very minor bug, but it definitely should be rolled out before Lucid.
